Yeah man, I downloaded the whole thing from the hi-res site. This is up there with the best movies I have ever seen on TMO. I couldn't believe you did all that in-game! You have put an unbelievable amount of work into this and I can't understand people who give this 1 or 2 stars. A movie of truly epic proportions which captivated me from start to finish over the whole hour long showing. The voice acting was great and in general character development was spot on. The action scenes had all the tension and suspense of a real Hollywood blockbuster but it was sensitive where it needed to be. Great job man.

It looks like the tables have turned. The roles have switched; the ants are now the killers and the humans are now the killed. I could not stop watching throughout this first half. Amazing!

This is perhaps one of the best apocolyptic type films this year! And I can bet that part 2 is even better! You rock!

The special effects are insanely brilliant, but the plot is a little on the stupid side. Don't get me wrong you're an Ingenious special effects artist, and a good story teller, it's just that the story you were telling wasn't that good. No hard feelings, I hope you come and review my new movie, "Just Beond Your Reach"

WOW, this level of time, effort, dedication and especially all the modding going on just blows my mind!! To be honest I was a little bored during the first half - the storyline with the estranged couple and their daughter didn't grab me at all - but what I really responded to was when the infestation went global and the action took on a truly epic tone, unlike anything I've yet seen on TMO. This really elevated the film to another level for me, and what makes me so eager to check out Parts 2 & 3.

That was great. I think if you had access to an actual camera, you'd be a great filmmaker. You're already proficient at this, so you should really do some live action. I don't know if you already do, but if you don't, give it a try. The special effects are great, and the techniques you used were superb. I'm jealous.

I was scepticle at first, but that was awesome!

I especially enjoyed the bit where the wife was throwing the kitchen appliances at the little aliens.

Overall a very clever and fun movie that is consistantly enjoyable to watch, over-flowing with creativity and a well-defined B-movie vibe.

I also admired the fact that (although mods were used) it was undeniably a The Movies movie, unlike some movies which look like a bunch of mods with The Movies tacked on.

5 stars, excellent job, I thoroughly look forward to your future films.

My review on Infested. I hope you will be able to understand it. My text can be full of loan-translations. Story is exciting, but not very original. In Russia we say: ??Bad story is compensated by good realization??. I can??t name it bad, but I??ve seen better . Basis of this movie IMHO is mods, technical part. We can only imagine about moving insects, children, small actors, animated props. Yeah! There are hundreds of props! Everywhere! Moving insects, armies, artillery, helicopters. Every room in this movie, every street is full of different props. Every country differs from others. It makes film very well decorated and adds special individuality. Of course, I liked titles, but I didn??t understand what it was: prop or special program??s effect. Now, a few words about music. I think, nobody likes to listen one and the same melody four or five times. It sounds bellicose, but it isn??t appropriate in talking. IMHO. What else. A few words about actors. The language is not very difficult. I can characterize it as Pre-Intermediate, and I think it won??t be difficult to watch movie for Russian audience. Cinema scoring doesn??t rise to unfavorable criticism, but actors, who scored girl, should play more emotionally, especially in the moment, when Ant kills her father. Her cry wasn??t realistic. At the end, I can only mark film on 10 (5 stars). Sorry for my clumsy style.

The ant throwing the car off the bridge was amazing. The overall story so far hasn't really taken off, but the mods (and, now, the possibilities) further prove that The Movies is far from reaching it's peak.

It wasn't until the conclusion of the Tower Bridge scene that this film scraped its 4-stars for its first reel.

1/3 of the way in - and there's been no characters (of any significance) and no narrative to speak of.

It plays like one long 20 minute trailer. But some of the mods are amazing, and the ant throwing the car off the bridge is just terrific. (there was the best line in the film before that too).

I'm hoping to get to know the characters in part 2 and have somebody to root for against the insectoid menace. At the moment, I'm rooting for the insects!

Wow! What a movie! Excellent mods. I loved the attention to detail and I can't imagine how much hard work went into this. The auto animated props helped to give this an epic feel. The ants are awesome! (I hope you release these.) The little girl auto animated prop looks very good. (Except when in close up of her face, she looks kinda creepy.:) ) The sets, props, and overlays are all excellent. The story reminds me of several films such as Them, Independance Day, and Gremlins. Great work! Keep on filming and create some new monstroucities such as those ants please. :)

A heck of a lot of fun so far! Very reminiscent of the old B disaster flicks. It knows how to have a bit of fun with itself -- right down to Jenny's squirrel-chatter on the phone, and the "Death of a Sailsman" film title. The setup is both small-scale, showing us a few different scenes at the individual level; and large-scale, giving us the complete world view of the invasion. A very nice touch getting some Russian actors involved!

Plenty of difficult scenes are pulled off well: the homing beacon at the beginning, the small aliens vs. Jack & Jenny, and of course all the ant carnage. It's all well edited, visually spectacular, and with suitable music. Sound editing is decent, but perhaps a bit spotty when it comes to volume levels. Voice acting is solid from the main cast, but some of the minor characters didn't quite have the urgency one might expect...

Production value is obviously sky-high here, with some neat opening credits work. Top marks there -- but as I'm a stickler for details... A few individual shots could have been cleaned up here and there. We see Jenny walk through a bit of the refrigerator; the ant on the beach walks toward a guy in a red/maroon shirt, but in the next shot seems to have picked up a guy in blue that was off to the side. I also admit to initially being confused as to how the little alien was able to carry out Jack -- perhaps an extra shot immediately after he was ray-gunned to show he'd been miniaturized?

So, just some minor niggles so far. A low-to-mid 5 stars for part 1!
(Canada Day means I finally have some time to watch the whole thing!)

Great frist part of the movie awesome mods sets effects.
This reminds me of the b movie THEM! but it's a much bigger scale.
Vo acters were great the plot was amazing.
This is a ground breaking movie for mods and sfx on tmo.
Awesome job Rysto.

A very fine apocalyptic thriller-horror movie, stylish and clever, massive in scope and gloriously global. This is a fantastic example of how talented and adept some of the filmmakers here really are. Rysto is to be congratulated on wonderful technical achievements that boggle the mind in virtually every scene.

Mods however, do not make a great film. They certainly contribute an enormous degree, and they add to the spectacle, but it's a dangerous place to be when you're relying on additions and contributions to carry your movie. I don't watch a movie for the mods: I watch for story, plot, character and dialogue. I absolutely enjoy clever and creative use of TMO tools, but if I'm over the story in the first half is there any guarantee that I'll continue to watch into the second half?

Virtually every scene in this technical smash hit is a modder's dream-boat. Unfortunately the drama does not hold well together to sustain interest from scene to scene. There are many examples of Rysto's very dab hand at creating style, but the execution is lumpy and strangely dissassociative - within the unfolding tale we never get close enough to any character to care, to worry about or fear for. The story is massive, taking place across the world, and as this thriller unfolds we are never given a chance to identify strongly with any central character/s. What we see instead is a series of classic disaster movie montages which lack atmosphere, threat and human drama.

While the creative technical expertise is indeed wondrous (5 stars for technical excellence) the movie is let down by a distant feel and matter-of-fact scene composition. Opportunities are missed within expositionary moments to get to know the characters and their situations better:- long tracking shots are used which distance us from the dramatic subjects but show instead (in all their glory) the great sets and props. I don't care about the street, I wanna get close to the characters! I Know they're walking down a street! This film is a prime example of where the scenery takes top billing over the actors!! Rysto keeps his distance from his actors throughout the movie: they are forever in two and three shot, never closed in on. Thus, they are relegated to objects rather than subjects, and while they are walking and talking, and bad things are happening to them, it is impossible to feel any terror for an object over a subject. Many early transitional cuts are abrupt, and establishing moments are lost, but those terrific global overlays are very affective in placing us and giving us context. However, there are simply too many, the story and scope too diverse for us to be able to focus and feel the terror (as an example, what is more indicative of horror:- a wall being pushed over, or the fear in someone's eyes as something comes through a hole in the wall?).

The sound work feels as though it got away for a while there. While the engineering of the alien voices was very effective, it was TOO effective: I didn't realise they were speaking English until very late in their scenes - they were almost unintelligible. I don't mean that as a harsh criticism, I was seriously straining to follow the dialogue at that point.

This film is really terrific. It's indicative of great ambitions and wonderful imagination, and there is enormous style evident throughout. However, dramatically it is patchy and unfocussed, and un-moving in a very un-thriller-like way. Greater things could have been achieved, and I have no doubt they will continue to be revealed.

Wonderful and wonderous! This first part was a great introduction to some of the key characters and ended with a series of magnificient and mind-blowing action sequences. I love the globe-spanning disasters which escalated this tale to global and epic proportions. This has truly been a treat, and it's only part one!

WTH was THAT!? That wasn't from The Movies right?

All kidding aside, amazing job. I'm glad to see people still working at puting out great things here, and Its obvious you have worked on this.

Bing a nit picker, I will say the one thing that did bother me was the very low quality acting of a few of the extras... with a movie that is as visually stunning as this, with a great sci-fi story, its a shame to be drawn out of it every now and then with a very weak performance. I wish you took the time to make them redo their lines to match the quality of the rest of the movie.

Otherwise... bravo! Amazing movie... you kept me interested for 20 minutes and I am off to watch the rest!

That was cool with a capitol K! It was like a 20 minute modding showcase with one major difference - it had a great script, great VA's and great sound design. My only slight annoyance is that no-one actually said anything to the effect of 'that ant is HUGE" - sure everyone was scared but they didn't seem all that surprised that they were being attacked by giant ants! Anyways, i loved pt 1 and can't wait to see what happens in pt2. Great work

cheers

Quite frankly, 'Infested! Part 1' is a modding gem!

It is one thing to make a film with modding but to totally immerse the viewer within your world is just unbelievable. This movie had so much substance and grit filled throughout the world and It quite clearly shows the ammount of work you put in for this EPIC project.

You mixed all the right elements well to provide a unique experience, one that I have not seen here for a LONG LONG LONG time my friend. The free-cam use was highly creative such as the many numerous battles. One that sticks in my mind is the ant grabbing the taxi close to the end. You managed to use the free cam to follow the car as it was travelling through the air with PRECISION!. this is just a snippet of the many moments that really define this film.

With a great VO cast you also managed to provide not only a varied but a DYNAMIC voice range. From old citizens to a young girl, you had it ALL!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tale and look forward to seeing Part 2.. so until the next review,

Nuke Well in Infestation!!!!

I dislike the story, just another to big grown animals and aliens attacking the world, there´s enough of that storys out there in real films.
But I have to say dude that was fascinating, for the first time since about 1 month after I started being around on tmo I saw stuff I couldn´t do myself. That totally fascinated me and revived my passion for the game! =)

Holy [eye-hurting-word!]!
I knew I could expect a lot of extensive modding from you, Rysto, but this? Awesome! Every scene is loaded with new sights and unique setdressing - the little ones in the kitchen just made me stare at the screen in disbelief!
The boat, the ants, the miniature weapon, the.... I have to watch it again to let all of these marvels sink in...
And on top of all that, a great story with wonderful funny moments, too! Be proud of this movie, be very proud - wow!

Do I really have to tell you what I thought? Do I really. Well, I thought that was... sorry to say but AMAZING! That was brutally amazing! I loved the mods you created and the plot. This was one of your best films, Rysto. I was waiting 1, 2, 3, about 4 months for this film and this is what I got? THANKS SO MUCH FOR KEEPING ME WAITING!! I LOVED IT! You made my day. Brilliantly brilliant. I am dieing to see part two. I just loved your idea and now istead of making all advertising mods you're now advertising your mods in your movie. I think almost every scene had a mod in it. Great job. The music was fabulous. The ants, walking little girl. Oh and a huge aappreciation to the sets. That was fantastic. I enjoyed it. You stunned me. You also released it on the day you said you would! HURRAY! HURRAY! HURRAY! You should feel proud. And even though you got straight fives (so far) I and I'm pretty sure some other people do is that we only care about the views not the ratings. But in this case, #1 baby! YEAH! That was fantastic dude. So, make sure the next one comes out soon and not in another 4 months or twenty two years. Let's see some action! Great job. I was just in my hotel room (Paris) and I just wanted to watch some movies and once I saw the thumbnail and title of this, I said "YES!!!!!!!"

So, you should feel proud as you are nominated for I think a lot of jakechief awards. Go check my home page to take a look. 3rd Annual jakechief Award Ceremony!

au revoir (Good bye)

Wow, way to take modding to the next level! Visually this is brilliant and unlike anything I've ever seen on TMO. I can't imagine how much time went into this bad boy.
My only critique would be that the alien VO was hard to understand.
Tremendous job and congratulations to everyone involved in this!

So I remember being about 8 years old and Im standing out in my back yard with a plastic M-16 chatting up this neighborhood girl when she mentions that Im standing right in the middle of this great big fire ant pile. I start screaming and running about as the ants crawl up my legs and bite me. Mom runs outside yanks down my pants and turns the hose on me. Standing there in my tighty whiteys sopping wet with ant bites all over my legs was not one of my greater moments.

The release of this epic 3 parter, on the other hand, is destined to be one of the great moments in TMO history. Wonderful credit sequence that really solidifies the king of the b-movie creature feature stature. The lilliputian terresterials were a bit hard to understand but the kitchen warfare scene was great and reason enough for their inclusion. Finally, ending part one on such a global note screams that we best move the fudge over cause Infested is coming through. Excellent beginning. Painful memories.

I´ll just go ahead and say what the pilot said at the end: I can´t believe My Eyes. That has to be the most amazing thing I´ve ever seen.
Those mods and effects... How did you do that? You can usualy see how people made their effects but in this movie... you can´t. The directing was great as well, nice camera angels andgood cinematagrophy. Though I didn´t realy find the characters that intresting, and even if the script wasn´t the strongest part of this movie it certanly delivered. I´ll definatly check out Part 2 and 3 and definatly bookmark this movie. This is amazing movie making!

Holy cow, that was freaking amazing! I can't even imagine how you managed to achieve some of those effects. Expect your PM box to flood with requests (mine included!)

Oh, yeah, the story is really cool, too. :)

Now if I can only find enough time before work to watch the next two parts!!

Brilliant stuff, rysto. You amaze me.

:)

I was really looking forward to this movie, not just because my voice features in it, but because of the intruging screenshots you gave in the production thread and I must say this was certainly better than I expected. You gave so much detail in each scenes, it was just completely amazing and the way you told the story. By looking at the movie you can see how much time spent.

I'm really enjoying it so far and now I'm looking forward to part 2. Really excting stuff. I must give out my five star straight away.

Really good work. Very profesional and I appreciate how much work went into that film. Fantastic voice overs also. Its films like yours that inspire me to step up a gear and make something more interesting than a basic run of the mill "action" movie. I'm off to watch "Part 2"...

Good skills...
