Film Description
Yes, it's a 15-second movie (excluding credits)! Created for a short film contest which only allowed 15-second films based on a theme of voice activation. Since I prefer to make films that are not only entertaining, but have a deeper meaning, I took on this challenge to do this ULTRA short movie. I hope it works. Thanks for dropping by for this brief visit :)

I have watched this movie 6 times now. At the first time, I simply took it for a bit of random fun...Then I remembered that your films are never pointless fun, so I watched it again and again...I've thought about it for several days now off and on and I've come to one conclusion: This is your most brilliant film yet.

I have watched many of your films (Only rated one unfourtanatly...I will get onto the others when I find the right words) and have enjoyed them all...However, this is pure genious. It's like the wheel of TMO...Such a simple thing, yet so effective and useful. People write trillogies of books and film countless documentries and films about this subject, and you've managed to sum it up in 15 seconds (excluding the credits, which by the way were brilliantly done with some great music by GP). It seems like it should be such an easy thing to do to make a film like this - two lines and 3 scenes all-togather (Excluding the credits), and yet you still make a film with as much, if not more, of a message to it then any of your other films...

If I was wearing one, my hat would be off to you. Brilliance in its best form.

Soooooooooooooooo.....

By my count there were 5 people who:
a)didn't read your production notes
b)probably haven't read The Bible either
c)have absolutely no clue what a "concept film" is, and
d)just flat out didn't get it

I got it -- and in 15 seconds you utterly summed up man's struggle with theology and God's struggle with His creation. A masterful 15 seconds -- I honestly feel sorry for the few who didn't see the Light.

Reminiscent of the 30 Secs of Bliss while recalling Heston on the mountaintop. The battle between religion and science is now officially over. The clapper turned outto be the Enola Gay of the war.

Behold the AWESOME power of MAN (and JKW's movie making abilities). 15 seconds of existential juxtapositions -very effective and through provoking. nicely done.

Only Joseph could come up with a fifteen second movie that has more depth, character and meaning than most twenty minute movies here on TMO.
Short but no less brilliant.

Great to see Mel Ein in a directorial role too!

Terrible, how do you get anything out of this? A 15-second movie has to be at least funny to be anything. My movies should be getting 10 stars -- no, 20 -- if this gets 4 1/2 stars, but no, nobody knows about my movies because this kind of stuff clogs up the website. I don't blame someone for making a movie like this, but putting it online is a little lame, and seriously, giving this 5-stars is even a bigger crime.

I love the way you pointed out the fact that sometimes we don't value what God has created for us(at least that's what I took from it). Even in 15 seconds you manage to create a philosophical masterpiece!

After watching it a few times, I finally understood the deeper meaning behind it. Making a movie with such a deep meaning in 15 seconds is no small feat. Good work.
And you wanted to know about a movie of mine when it comes out, it's gonna be ALOT later, partly because the game isn't installed anymore :P

The only thing I liked about this film was the professional stat with your username written many times. I think that a long version about god saying let there be light, let there be etc.

I cannot give a film that short a good rating. It only has 2 bits of dialouge also. And the fact that you given it an unimagenative name is a lt down.

I normally give advice at this point but since you are one of the best TMOers I guess I am not at liberty to do that.

Nice - you have completely summed up what life is all about in 15 seconds. This film is genius. It perfectly reflects how man chooses to p**s all over god's creation everyday just through laziness or to suit his own needs instead of allowing it to flourish. Beneath the initial light-heartedness there is a deeper meaning which relates to all our problems such as global warming and how we can't be bothered to change our lifestyles in order to save our own planet. Top marks man - this movie rules.

First impulse was that it was hilarious...

then I was curious what others thought...

so I started reading... and reading... and reading... then I realized there was not only a deep message; but, quite a controversy brewing... odd that such a short film could do that I thought... then I remembered that we're dealing with the core of people's basic belief's structure's about the nature of the universe and thought back to the movie Expelled I saw a couple of weeked ago and the amount of controvesy it spoke of in this country and around the world.... Heck, I knew this all along, I didn't need any movies telling me this I've known this all my life, I've struggled with this issue myself all my life.

So, here we are... back to the very nature of this 15 second film:
you're prsenting to us that Man is 1) "lazy" (prefers to say in bed, rather than be awoken by G-d on demand) 2) had he power to shut off the light of G-d with but a single word ("off") instead of uttering an enire phrase ("let there be light") as well as being more powerful than G-d's utterance

that Man has come this far in these thousands of years of cultural change as to have a large segment of society abandon G-d in such a way.

Note: there is still a segment of society that follows religions of many faiths and styles; but, this film does not adress that, nor does this review. You'll note the use of the term G-d indicating a respect for the name of G-d in myreligion; but, I'd rather not address that here.

Not much of a piece of art or social commentary there for me, just some strange little film with God saying let there be light and a man saying lights off. More nonsensical than anything else. I don't think it makes you think more than films, mainly feature ones, but it definitley makes you think. I also agree with RalfDuran, he brought it pretty good to the point.

Yet I know it's for a challenge, and that's the reason why I can't judge it honestly. The film works fine, 5 stars, although I'm quarreling with myself.

Wow, Joseph Kwong's #1 fan has just been treated to 15 seconds in heaven! (No, literally!)

All of the technical aspects of this movie melt together to give us a rather meaningful short film here!

In 15 seconds you make us laugh, you make us wonder, and you make us think! Is there anything you can't do?!

Of course, this recieves a well deserved FIVE STARS from Josephkw's biggest fan! :P

;)

I wish you luck in the competition, but you might not even need it! Good job!

It??s funny!! The grandiose music and image works fantastically! For me, this movie works perfectly without its deeper message. This makes me think about what they say: a piece of art can depart the artist and become the viewer??s own. :) (How do you feel about it, Joseph?)

Posted on April 29, 2008
- ralfduran

For some unfathomable reason this worked really effective. However, the real challenge comes in the next scene when you have to follow up your meaning. For really, its easy to add a lot of meaning in 15 seconds since you dont have to answer or touch your question any further. But noneless, if you just take it for what it is, you have my 5. Really well made. and I which you the best of luck.

The deep, hidden meaning of this film may have been lost on me (you know me by now), but the humour was not. What a great little joke that was! *clap clap*

Behold the AWESOME power of MAN (and JKW's movie making abilities). 15 seconds of existential juxtapositions -very effective and through provoking. nicely done.

So much for progress!
Remarkable what you can say in 15 seconds if you're clever enough; just wonderful.

At first i thought how da hell can u pack something really meaningfull in 15sec?

But yet again you surprised me and packed something mankind talks about since a long long time!

Very well done! =)

Only Joseph could come up with a fifteen second movie that has more depth, character and meaning than most twenty minute movies here on TMO.
Short but no less brilliant.

Great to see Mel Ein in a directorial role too!
