Film Description
The story revolves around an old lonely man. he sits in his house everyday watching the news, looking for information on the conflict in Iraq. And everyday he walks out to the forrest, to a large old tree that stands alone amungst the others. Everyday he waits, every day he hopes, but to no avail.

NOTE: Just if its unclear, the idea behind the film, the message, isn't nessicarilly supposed to be obvious so if you don't quite completely understand it, good. i want you to come to your own conclusions of what happens.

A Beautiful Silent Piece that had me in awe, your use of overlays and camera angles are very creative. Good work!

I simply liked it! Don't know how more to comment on it, it was just a nice experience, very emotional. =)

A nice silent film - the imagery is excellent, but the open-ended finish didn't float my boat. Good camera-work though - and I liked the Chopin.

A nice flow of imagery that leeds one to think of the why of war...
The only technical flaw I saw was the blinking soldier in the coffin.
But I can igonre that as a game flaw. Nice work.

"A film with not too much Vo's but it still shows passion inside the heart of others."

A nice poetic piece indeed. Here's my interpretation (SPOILER ALERT)--I believe the older man is the father of the slain soldier, and he initially watched the news on the Iraq invasion and occupation due to his concern over the well-being of his son. I do have to mention my appreciation to your attention to lighting details during the newscast scenes--nice touch there. The funeral/burial sequence only means the son did not return alive, but is buried under the shade tree (whether it's a cemetary or even family plot is not clear). I do wonder why the soldier's eyes and mouth twitched while laying in the coffin; perhaps it is the software's animation glitch (but that could be taken care of by just making the still shot of it into an overlay, which you obviously have a firm grasp of). The same can be said of the old man as he was laying dead on the floor (his eyes keep twitching). In the end the father dies as well in his home and is buried next to his son. Overall this is a meaningful movie, and was a pleasure to watch.

A film with a different message for all. Powerful film with no need for voices, it tells the story through emmotion. Cleverly done!
5 Stars all the way.

Really moving film, the music added alot to it. I like how you left it very up to the viewer, and my personal conclusion is the man seeing his son die on Tv and dying of sadness. I thought it was nice how the gravestones were together.

Really nice. I loved the 'look' of this movie - from the great sets and dressing to clever overlays interesting stills and sweeping freecam. The music convays a very strong emotion and is used well throughout. What was it all about? - well thats anyones guess, but at least it makes you think.

Good stuff

I thought it was a great film with a great message. You did a good job with the way you played out the idea without using any vo's or subs. I thought the marine suit in the coffin was a good touch to as i noticed what you were trying to do with that by showing how he died but then again you did have the actual war scene so that kind of does the job already.

verall great movie.

A subtle, yet powerful film.

I thoroughly enjoyed this remarkable art. Such delicate film making is not easy to accomplish and Bricks did a stupendous job. The lone piano score was the perfect accompaniment to the emotion of this film. The cinematography and editing really stood out and captivated me. The son being fully dressed in battle fatigues, with helmet, in the casket js my only criticism.

A wonderful short tale. Well done Bricks

Visually poetic and meaningful. I like the title of the film too.

A short, yet beautiful piece directed very well.

As always, bricks, you delivered to us a feast of visuals. The way you created that forest was so perfect, I'd of thought that it was a set that came with the game! Stunning movie! Keep on filming! :-)

Beautiful. Moving, and an artistic short/masterpiece. Great freecam and nice job with Chopin. And something about the name makes me smile, so kudos for that as well.

I very muched enjoyed it, but I could not give it 5 stars because I could not compleatly convey the message it was trying to give. The shots and overlays were great as always brick, but content it the core of the thing and I found the basic idea to be excellent but it execution only: good. So in the end:

4 stars

The Good
Overlays, Shots, and best of all the music (the music was perfect)

The Bad
It didn't convay it's message quite clear enough.

Nice little quickie, Bricks. You did a nice job of holding my attention without any dialogue, and had some really great cinematography in there. Nice work!

I could hear my own breathing while watching this subtle yet monumental vision. A now old man sitting under the dead tree as the world he knows is slowly falling apart. Its a master at work her and Im not talking about Chopin:) Loved it, absolutely loved it.

Rock on hard and long my friend

Surely the Lord will bless all of those who give their lives for this nation. A sad ending no doubt. I think this is a good film being without subs or voiceovers.

I am very pleased to see you release this. It demonstrates your artistic side and I thought you had some very touching moments. Highly Creative in it's approach and execution, you manage to use lighting and overlays in a way no one has attempted as of yet. The non-vo's didn't really matter as the feelings and emotions you wanted to capture were plain for all to see.

Well done with this and I look forward to more from you, until the next time...

Nuke Well in the Shade!!!
