Film Description
4th Place Winner of Kuroken's "Last Rites" contest. My initial storyline was SO long, I had to divide it into four parts. This is part one, and an introduction to the characters and situations. Originally A_N_D was to reprise his role as detective Dunkel, but in the end I eliminated that character and combined it with another in order to streamline the overall story arc. NOTE: I initially tacked on the "TMO" after the title to differentiate it from my hi-res contest entry, but it seems I forgot to remove it when rendering this online version.

A great kickoff to what I hope will be a continued series. It is a fitting edition to the Josephkw stable of high caliber films. The mood in this piece was expertly set and the acting was superb. While Joseph was great as always I want to join those who have praised UserJosh's performance. It was outstanding and not knowing who was playing the part going into the film had me wondering who it was he was so good.

The story was an interesting spin-off on the Last Rights series and as often happens with Joseph's films it was not as predictible as one one might have assumed.

This film was the first of the competition movies I saw - I was doing something else, and watching it was my treat for finishing whatever I was doing.

And I've got to tell you - in the early going, this movie creeped me the hell out. Seriously. The visuals and the sound design was sooooo unnerving that I was getting a little antsy sitting here.

And you pulled me in completely with the story. I had no clue where you were going with it, but it really was a heart-thudding trip.

It wasn't until one character asked another character a specific question about somebody, that I sudden got a glimmer of what was going on.

Technically superb, of course (hey, whadda ya expect, it's a Joseph Kwong film), well written, great acting from everyone (Josh was really good in his VA debut....where was he when I was casting Last Rites!), and a really nice twist at the end.

It was certainly one of my favorites in the competition. Thanks for making it.

Wow Joseph! You have outdone yourself yet again! (Do you ever get tired of hearing that?! :P )

THE GOOD:

The technical aspects of this film were all outstanding! I have come to expect this from a Josephkw film, and I was not disappointed! The freecam was very well used here! I actually forgot I was watching a TMO film! The atmosphere here was great. The music was very subtle and very unnerving at times. I thought it helped you build the perfect dark atmosphere for this film! It really kept my on the edge of my seat! The VO's were also very good! I thought all of the voice actors delivered really strong performances! I am very happy that I had the oppurtunity to take part in this! I also thought the visual effects were very good. There were also some really decent sound effects here as well!

Technical aspects aside, this film really shined where it counts most. The story! I really enjoyed the story here! It was short and simple, but there was also a lot of depth to it! I can't wait to see how you complete this amazing saga! Keep up the good work, you continue to impress me!

THE BAD:

I really don't have any complaints here! I thought you did a great job in executing this film!

A classy film - very suspenseful use of the camera and effective eerie music in the opening. A good twist too.

The VO was very good for all characters and the script provided them with some good lines to say.

A great job overall.

ok
I have an idea

You might remember rating my movie "Do You Like Chinese Food" and I wondered if you would be interested in making a sequel: "Do You Like Josephkw Films" (???)
I could do voices for the gang and you could direct it. Whatever, its only an idea. I appreciate you have other things going on. Btw when will part2 of "FATED" be coming out? as it looks an intriguing story. Anyway, just send me an email or tell me in a review whether you want to do it or not. Later.

Macwemyss.

What the...?
Why have I only just heard about this little gem?
Damn my lack of time on TMO.

So that said, apologies for the delayed review my friend but...wow!
Another masterpiece from the pen of mr. Kwong.

Atmosphere in droves, the standard of editing and direction that is unmatched on TMO, the brilliant characters, the wonderful sounds and visuals and of course the outstanding cast...everything in order here and a lovely twist at the end to cap it all off.

It's Joseph, therefore it rocks!

Flawlessly told and(as usual)thoroughly entertaining.

Two types of twisted mind-sets at work here(and even someone in the middle)
I like how you keep the viewer in the dark as to where and how the situation will explain itself, and it does...but I also like how you leave me wanting more answers...the reason is a nice depth of detail and character development, and a wonderful mixture of very good voicework and special visual elements to add icing to the cake:-)

This actually reminds me somewhat of a Star Trek Next Gen episode called 'Future Imperfect'

I am surprised at the lack of comments for this movie...
and sorry I was one of those who hadn't seen it until now...

Directing: 5/5- superb! Watch and learn!
Script: 5/5- great and original!
Sound: 5/5- Great!
Genre fit: 5/5- excellent film, although I doubt horror is the correct genre for this, but on the other hand there is no fitting genre name in The Movies for this kind of movie.
Fun: 5/5- outstanding!
Overall: 5!!!!!

Very good. Trippy but good. I like premise of Christians taking on a evil entity. Well made with terrific VO. Visually this was perfect...camera, editing, music, sets...everything was great.
I look forward to part-2. Keep up the great work. Continued success!

Can you please review my movie: Zombie Island. Thanks.

Your storytelling skills are superb, and you keep getting better every time. This whole movie is totally pro. The presentation of visuals, the music, sound effects, dialog, and story delivery... that was the best. We form assumptions as we experience situations, story... then you proceed to unravel them, rearrange them into something completely different. Superb! Sublime! Bravo!

Miserere Nobis is a Disturbing Thriller filled with some excellent complex simplicities such as some very fine story telling that goes beyond suggestively yet keeps the viewer in the simple realms.

Technically this film was superb with an outstanding visual-audio presentation and some fine editting to boot.

Overall a worthy entrant into the Last Rites competition and a worthy extension on it's own!

Until the next Blockbuster....

Nuke Well on TMO!!!

An interesting story here.

The voice acting was great. Userjosh playing a good part. Interesting story and some nice music to help set the mood. Not much to say as its part1 but looking interested for part2 and the rest of the series. Thanx for mentioning Jonathan in this! ;) :D

Overall, good work, an interesting entry and very different from the others. Good work Joseph!

Wow, the voiceovers were excellent but I think it was a bit slow moving at the start but however it did manage to pick up and it got very interesting towards the end, nice job and KEEP FILMING!!

Very well done and very spooky. Reminded me a lot of Jacobs ladder. Beginning was rather creepy giving way to something else altogether. Professional all the way through and I particularly liked the dichotomy of styles bookending the movie. The dark and creepy to the bright and sterile. However...

****SPOILER****
I thought the ruse was perhaps elaborate to the point of being unbelievable.
****End SPOILER****

Still, a pretty cool flick. Distinct and very well made.

Mind games, oh the mind games!!!!!

Wooh!! Glad to see you entered this comp, as this was an excellent 1st parter. Amazing freecam and some great VO's from some of TMO's best. This was an amazing script, and I loved the ending (I love it whenever somebody delivers a bad-ass last line! lol). You set up a great atmosphere, and the mods were excellent as well.

I look forward with great anticipation to the other 3 parts.
