I must say that was the best movie I've seen! It was funny, well put together, unique... and the level of out of game effects you included is extounding.

I'm just starting out on my movie making, and I didn't know it was possible to make movies that good. Your movie was an inspiration to me.

Once again, AMAZING movie!

To TMO or Not to TMO, that is the question ...

What we have here is obviously completely non-understandable to anyone outside TMO. But, you know what? Who cares? We deserve a film like this. At the very least we have the best tutorial video for this game ever made - if they were still producing The Movies, it should be bundled with it.

Forget, for a moment, the set-pieces about how to change camera angles or beat
the Devil's Bookmark (my own indirect contribution to the film). The real tutorial here is the quality oozing out of the film itself.

Beautifully produced and voiced, it's not just the extreme number of overlays but the smoothness with which they go by, along with the general quality of the visuals and audio. Right from the first titles, you know it's going to be serious quality.

I liked the "mood" bar at the bottom of the screen - a nice analogy to what many of us go through in doing battle with this game's countless bugs. Then, like the character in the film, it's "never again ...", but we eventually bounce back for more punishment in order to express ourselves in our favourite medium.

Some nice moments in the film - the two voice actresses were hilarious, but the real star for me was the horse and its tirade at being kicked out of the film!

There's some subtle stuff as well - the posters in his bedroom are all for films by "Riley Entertainment", for example.

Engaging and lively - this really is the ultimate tutorial for The Movies, with one glaring omission - allow me [ahem!]:

"You've done your VO and you think it's the tops,
But all we can hear are your hideous mic pops.
Speak away from the mic and cover it in socks,
You'll soon have VO that everyone says rocks!"

I find this one of the most common mistakes - but you could do an entire sequel just on audio production alone, so I'm not really grumbling. Of course, the audio quality for the VO in this film was flawless (just in case some dimwit thinks I'm criticising this film for its VO quality).

So, back to the question:

To TMO or not to TMO?

Watch this and it's definitely "To TMO" ...

That was really good! I mean really good!
Gave some tips I never would of guessed would improve the quality of a exported film (but of course if I want the 1960's Kung Fu look I'll do it the old way)
It was a kind of movie that it didn't make me laugh but I smiled the whole way through.
5 stars!
(by the way you do have a voice that could be really like some announcer for television or radio its really convincing!)

Hi rileyman!
What an original and funny movie about our TMO's life :). I like the description of all tests to make a movie and little problem which make us nervous. There is a lot of humor, the dialogues between the narrator and the moviemkaer where specially nice. The narrator is a real good writter for lyrics :).
You did really good job on the effects with the changes of places and other effects. I like your work on the casting studio with all those props. I've downloaded it, thank you for your work. I don't know how you've done all those effects and mods, you had good ideas.
I've spent a very good time with your movie.
See you!

Great job Riley! This is just awesome! I was laughing my *#(# off at all of the problems and issues that you went over in the film. So true...Especially the lip-sync part. (Oh how I can relate ;/) The voice acting was superb! The Rhyming was a good addition!

Great script, great movie, great everything. Deserves a 5 star.

Ya' know Riley, this is great stuff. For one, it's funny without being somehow "offensive" to someone (Well, with maybe the exception of the game's developers, LOL!), which is rare with TMO movies - I mean, I'm not one for "Family friendly comedies" (presuming the whole family plays the game =P) - But hey, I like it! It's funny without being offensive, overly random, or gross-out; it's funny simply because it is!

Now the overlays are beyond me. Just trying to think of how many hours you spent snaping those screen-shots and organizing them gives me a headache - But they are great eye-candy, none the less. I loved the "Reviews" of the movie - I took the time to pause the film and read each individually; I loved how realistic you made it seem!

The real thing that stands out here, to me at least, is the music. Yes, I've heard it a billion times - But it's used so well that it seems new. This is the exact type of movie the music seems to be made for!

So, without further adue, an obvious five stars!

Comedies. I always found comedies to be the most challenging genre to tackle because the audience is so varied in their tastes. The key is to find a theme which the viewers would all find amusing--quite an impossibility...unless you're Rileyman. To create a comedy based on every TMOer's experience, and target it to the TMO community is so obvious, and yet so brilliant. Like the film itself. Brilliant! As I watched this, I could hear myself, and probably every other TMO viewer saying "Yeah, that's exactly what happened to me!" I even had that stupid horse problem (and I didn't bother trying to get rid of it--I just buried it in prop bushes and trees LOL). I'd make this film a mandatory viewing for all TMOers, new and old; it's just like a tutorial, but infinitely more entertaining. Great writing, great performances, and great concept. Bravo!

SO much custom work on display here, but all in context and used with a delicious sense of irony.

You already had five stars before Dulci and Sisch appeared onscreen and made me laugh out loud (always worth a bonus star). Casting genius, right there.

Everything before and after just goes to show how much hard work goes into making a film about how much hard work goes into making a film about how... er... um... hard work.

I'm hesitant to watch the #1 film here half the time for fear that it will fall short of its position and my expectations - and yet here is a worthy title holder. This dual-purpose film (both fun and informative) earns its spot.

Congrats, Riley, and to everyone else involved, from the actors to modders. Your hard work was clearly worth it.

The only Comedy on TMO I've ever enjoyed, and not had a problem seeing all the way through. The Voice Acting was better then nearly any other film I've seen, and this style of film is quite a new way of playing with the game; excuse me, "Using the Tool".

"One Star Ninjas", "Top Chart Seeking Ninjas", and "Review Revenge Ninjas" are the worst aspect of TMO, I believe; worst then the Devil's Bookmark. That said; the section you included on the Devil's Bookmark was one of the best scenes here, as well as the Set locating and Voice Actor hunting.

Well played, Riley.

A lovely, entertaining biopic of the comings and goings, the enjoyment and the frustrations, the success and the crushing failure of our own TMO! Great, professional VO's (Loved the sisch/dulci gag, he he), with the rhyming narration being a clever touch, and amazing overlays enhances the movie. And, believe it or not, the ingame music worked perfectly with the movie, seeing as the whole thing's about TMO. The greatest strength has to be the overlays, which are groundbreaking and ingenious. (1,000 overlays! Whew!)

Overall:
A fun, colorful biopic that simultaneously entertains and enlightens.

Too darn funny. So true to the community. Great work Riley :D !

Why 5 stars? Well the biggest thing has to be the community spirit that was appearant throughout the whole movie. Second, the work that had to be involved in making those overlays had to be maddening O_O ... Finally the mods used in this film were very well used, I adored the seamless transition from the actual movie to "tycoon mode".

Once again, great work.

Great! A very funny comedy witha lot a work behind (props, overlay etc...) to make this universe come true. It is half a comedy and half a tutorial. It really is funny and can help some peoples. Congratulations and a deserved 5 stars :)

That has to be one of the funniest movies on this site so far! Here's the review:

Story: 5. You played out the tiresome, arduous tutorial part of the game and turned it into a very humorous and enjoyable experience. Very well done.

VOs/Dialogue: 5. The brilliant story and the equally brilliant voice acting/directing really set this one out. Very well done.

Music/SFX: 3. This was the only flaw. Use some free music in your movie's score (NOT the generic MOVIES music), and it should become an even better experience. Pretty so-so.

Over all, the average for this rounds out to a 4. An A++ effort and production, but it's brought down to B+ quality because of a flawed movie score. Other than that, this was carefully thought out. FILM ON!

The overlays were the best i have ever bar-none. Really exceptional stuff.
This was un-like anything i have ever seen on here.
Thankyou for making this Riley, very amusing and entertaining stuff.
Loved it from beginning to end. Excellent TMO references.
I think the Dulci and Sisch gag was the best one! HEHEHE! LMAO! Funny sh*t!!!
ROFL!!! Great stuff. The dialogue was excellent. The rhymes were great!
I loved the way you showed what we all go through making a movie.
Very imaginativly done and made. Excellent job overall.

Great! One of the most interesting and different things on TMO. VOs are spot on. Love this flick!

Great stuff Riley. Monks characterizations are always a hoot and you as the narrator was a good chunk of fun as well. Some great comic ideas (the entire casting office scene was fun and I loved the hamlet skull picture..great touch) that for the most worked very well. Your modded props and vast animations melted into the movie and seemed normal until the viewer stops to think about the details and the how of what they have seen - the end credits stuck out as a lot of work that was used for a subtle effect. And you even throw in some good tips for the masses. To TMO.

Haha Riley that was great! I had a big laugh as he casted and that "woman" turned around.
That's excactly how TMO members feel! You captured that feel perfectly!=)

LOL, great film rileyman! This movie was perfect! All that was in the film was all true. Dr. Seuss and Goofy's "How To" is a good combination! This film was funny from start to finish. Lot's of amazing overlays. VO work was great and good sound effects. Sisch and Dulci scene was pretty funny. Great job explaining how to get a movie on TMO. This film will be one of the classics that will always make us laugh. Great job rileyman and keep it up!

This was PERFECT! Other than that I don't know if there's much I can say that hasn't been said. A genius idea that was executed flawlessly. The cast did an awesome job. I particularly loved the scene with Sisch and Dulci. Amazing SFX btw. Just a great all around job!

Lmao! Wow Riley that was fantastic! Well narrated and very realistic... I should make one for Blender and then brutally bash the crap out of it at the end =D
Very creative and highly entertaining, especially the part in the casting office and the horse. Monk was superb, and so were all the effects and overlays!

6-Stars from me!

Ah, this is so life-like Riley!
Loved it, every minute of it - all the fantastic mod work, I laughed and winced simultaneously, because every one of these situations is just... normal life for a TMO movie maker! :D

I loved how you narrated this, Monk was the perfect choice for the movie maker - just great work!!

Nicely done! I've been waiting for this one. A beautiful display of how a TMO movie is made AND should be made!
Great job with the overlays and mixing the real world with the TMO world. Some very clever transitions were used.
You looked into every detail to make it as exact as possible even with the FEATURING catergory here on the movie's page. Nice.

I don't understand.....I NEVER had any of these problems.....oh my nose is growing.....

Brilliant, Riley - funny, well acted by all involved, terrific special effects....over the past two years, there have been a handful of films recounting the "TMO experience" but this one tops them all by a mile!

Great work, pal.

With 2 years delay my medicine has finally arrived. :) Glorious and original movie with some lovely (and amazing) Overlays, a nice way of directing and a package of jokes. Great stuff, should be watched by anybody on TMo.

You just wrote the Biography of every TMO member.

Never have I been so impressed, I mean, WOW! I wonder if you found making this film ironic; considering that you most likely ran into every single "bug" that you address in this film. The time and effort you must have put into this is just mind-boggling, as I saw some of the most Outrageous & Mind-Boggling Mods, and some of the most Amazing Overlay work ever seen in this medium.

I must admit, considering that you haven't released a film since "For my Fellow Soldier", I was thinking you could've gotten a bit rusty; but crack my skull with a lead pipe and call me a [wash your mouth out!], for ever having doubt.

Amazing Work!

Very funny. A great look at the trials and tribulations that all go into making a film for TMO. Monk was the perfect choice to play the part of TMO Movie Maker. Very nice in-jokes to TMO itself and many of the people involved. Very well made, written, and directed. Fantastic stuff here.

I felt so frustrated watching this movie! LOL What a super job of conveying the frustrations of making a movie. Monk was a classic for the role. The animations and overlays were extraordinary, showing that you are truly a master at this! This movie is a must-see for every TMO member (especially for any person new to the 'game'. Imagine if Lionhead had made a real movie utility instead of a 'game'. Well done, Rileyman! BRAVO ===K4===

INGENIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is pretty much the word to sum up this amazing production. Rich in originality and creativity, there is something for everyone to learn and for new-comers this is absolutely fantastic!! Great Writing and Dialogue was on display here for all to see with a witty and sharp execution of vo's from all who were involved. The narration was top notch and coupled with outstanding mods made this movie fly by.

I thoroughly enjoyed this piece and cannot wait to see more from you, until the next time buddy...

Nuke Well for TMO!!!!!! .....or not...

What an excellent tutorial/how-to/introduction film for newcomers to TMO!

This should be stickied on the main page for all to see!
It will help with their skills and make things easy!

The comedy was great, like how you argued with Themonk.
I laughed as his character fell into a funk.

There were many great mods and the VO's were great!
5 stars aren't enough; this film I'd give 8!

When you narrate a movie through a catchy rhyme,
I hope you'd expect this review at least one time. :-P

And I have a new movie out called Innocent.
I hope you will watch it; it would be time well spent!

Alright, I'll stop....:-D

"To TMO or Not To TMO"... if I'd seen this before I bought the game, I probably wouldn't have bought it. lol

You manage to highlight much of the frustration of this "game" in a very entertaining way. It's a fun little story, told very well.

Your technical expertise with this software is astounding. All the mods, overlays, etc blow me away. I could only dream of pulling off half the stuff you put into this film.

I very much enjoyed Dulci and Sisch's cameos (though the audio levels seemed a bit off?), and the lovely Kenni was a delight. (Do you think I can get her phone number?) :)

When my wife watched this with me (thanks for the hires preview!), she enjoyed it as well, but she said that she would have liked to have seen more of the TMOMovieMaker's film. And as I said in my email, the only problem I had with this film was that it ended. I wanted more!!

Great stuff here, rileyman.

(So what's next??? :)
