It may look like I've just come out of the woodwork, but I bought The Movies the day it came out, and same with Stunts and Effects. I don't have as much time as I'd like to work with these amazing tools, but based on your overwhelming reaction to CAPITOL: Origin, I will bust my hump getting the rest of the series out for you before the end of the century!

THANKS!

(btw, if you want overlays, recommend a modding site you like and I will post them.)

GREETINGS FROM L.M.A.O. STUDIOS!

A new age of TMO film making has begun with CAPITOL: Origin

This amazing sci-film film and beginning of a promising series by AlexBradley is nothing short of brilliant. When a film is is so engrossed with spectacular special effect, but maintains a rich and highly entertaining story, cinematic art is born.

The story itself, as with most aspects of the amazing achievement, is a tale that appeals to everyone. The end of the world and the rebirth of a new dawn leaves the imagination to be open to any premise. AlexBradley has tapped into the premise and created a world that captures your attention and never lets go.

The dialog is realistic, fun and maintains a level of believable sincerity that you can identify with.

The musical scores carry the emotion of each scene it is utilized in. The title song is perfect for the theme of this production. The lack of a musical score in the beginning was an excellent decision. Instead of drowning out the essential first impression of the film, this film maker let the amazing ambiance, sound effects and dialog play the role of emotion.

The editing was crisp and moved the story flow along at a breath taking rate. The apocalyptic shots were masterfully edited so you barely had time to soak in the sorrow of what you were experiencing.

The sound effects were excellent used. From the robotic reportings in the background to well timed explosions, this films ambiance is found in every shot. That level of detail adds yet another layer of powerfully effective realism.

The revolutionary special effects are by far the very best I have seen to date. As I mentioned before, they are not used AS the story but are use to carry the story. That is a significant difference that elevates this film above and beyond most films on TMO that use special effects.

The acting, by AlexBradley and Renee Camus are impressive to say the least. Two actors, multiple roles and giving the illusion of different voices, is not an easy task to say the least. These two actors pull it of with ease.

The cinematography really knocks your socks of. From details like using a shaky cam overlays to further add the feeling of mayhem to awe inspiring aerial shots to slow pan in shots to follow cams, this film uses every possible angle to achieve a professional and completely original showmanship of cinematic art. Simply magnificent.

Overall, a fantastic ride of the imagination that inspires us all.

WOOOOOOOOOOOW!
This was so impressiv! Especially the beginning, I've never seen a movie with such a brilliant sound-fx! The overlay effects are also awsome, they look so real... The modding work you must have put into this have to be hugh, the office, the street the details are everywhere! I`m really impressed by the visuals!
But even if the visuals are stunning you shouldn`t miss out the story because you`ve created a whole new world! A world that seem so real and well crafted, underlined by a fantastic skript with perfectly fitting dialogs for your created world. And the story itself makes just what it should for a first part! We`ve been introduced to everything and the story stops at the right point where we want to know what`s going on!

One of the best films made with The Movies I´ve ever seen! I can´t wait for the second part! Bookmarked your studio! =)

This movie looked like it took 10 years to make! Are you kidding me? Where did this movie come from? It fell from the sky! I must say bravo *claps*, this is a truly great movie. The story sounds interesting and the voices were excellent. Not to mention the most amazing overlays I have ever seen! Those overlays were very beautiful. The sets were amazing and it really made it look like a sci-fi city and had the feeling of it too. My god who are you and when did you join TMO? This is a wonderful movie and its now one of my favorites. Looks like this movie is already a success in its first couple of hours. Awesome job and well done. I look forward to the next chapter.

Okay, who are you, and where have you been?

This movie is absolutely amazing; without a doubt, one of the best films i have EVER seen on TMO. I have never seen overlays as masterful as yours. The technical aspects of this film set dressing, retextures, camera moves, editing, etc...are spot on brilliant, and show the time and dedication that you put into this project. The story itself is definitely one that i will be wrapped up in until you decide to end it.

I could be wrong, but from your attention to cinematic detail, i would assume you are a film major, or a film student. I am both, and from filmmaker to filmmaker, this film is pretty much flawless my friend. Definitely something new and refreshing to TMO. Thank you for making this project.

Absolutely Amazing. Bring on the next episode.

That sound you hear is my jaw hitting the floor. What a masterful use of overlays (please may I use them) and a story I rather enjoyed. You use of SEAMLESS FX with a thoughtful and engaging story is amazingly adept. Masterful freecam work with some of the scenes and your use of mods was well done. I am impressed to say the least. Im hooked and will watch the next chapter. A well put together and stylish gem of a film that pretty much outshines all other FX work I have seen. Well earned 5 stars.

I had read somewhere that the characteristics of what will become the next "IT" film or series is not just the ability to captivate an audience, but to be able to do so quickly. You did just that.

Your characters were likeable if not a bit cliche and predictable. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Archetypes are used in film for a reasonm, because we can either identify with them, or at least identify the character. The shorter the film or series, the faster you want to be able to make this distinction. Masterfully done.

The cinematography was brilliantly crafted. I'm still trying to figure out how you did some of the effects, but for the most part, I had forgotten to look as I became quickly wrapped into the story. Well done.

We learn from our mistakes and I wish to be helpful in your success. Truthfully, I would like to see more of the series. Therefore a critique or two.
The Cons (not many, and these are nitpicky.)
- The music sometimes drowned out the voice actors. Suggest lowering volume of music or raising volume of characters. Voice acting was exceptionally well done and music choices were captivating and appreciated.
- guess that was it. At least for me.

Words cannot describe what I think of this movie, so I'll make a sound, AAAAAAAGGGHHJhkjhhugYFjygfkghdfyjghj, But one I idea is, you should make CAPITOL: During the Attack
That would be so cool and it could show all the end of the world stuff like the nukes.

Plenty of good stuff in this film.

The nuclear scenes were horrific, the stuff nightmares are made of - they successfully sent a shiver down my spine, brilliantly realised through outstanding visual effects (very good mods throughout).

The main moment at the end of the film was suitably surprising and shocking when it happened, and sets up the story for part 2 nicely.

Occasionally, the music overpowered the VO to the point where the words were hard to hear, but other than that this is a very good piece of work.

The special effects are outstanding. Good camera work manages to overcome the shortcomings of staid, overused animations that are so predominant in movies here. Good story that held my interest from beginning to end. Good character development and I cared about the characters. Also very good acting. Look forward to more from you.

I've heard a lot of hype about the CAPITOL series, so I figured I'd come check it out and see what everyone was talking about...

I sadly admit, I am somewhat disappointed considering that the second part to this is said to be "The best Movie on TMO".

The story, as I see it thus far, is typically run-of-the-mill "apocalyptic", with many uncanny similarities to the "Big O" anime series and even, to some extent, Rik-Vargard's "K-7 Quarantine"; a city cut off from the world (I assume?) after some terrible crises (in this case, Nuclear warfare) where a Rebellion (of sorts) attempts to destroy the government. I hate to say it - but it's a very familiar story.

The beginning scene was done very well - and was in my opinion the best part of the movie. It ran together well and the use of mods and sound effects created a very unique look and feel to it. For this scene alone I've given you an extra star. The nuclear scene was horrifying (By horrifying I mean great), but the rest of the flick fell short.

The voice acting was not particularly bad (But not that great, either), however the actor's and actresses' voices were difficult to understand as they were not amplified enough and had a rather bad sound quality to them, so much that I could not decipher the voices from the music (which was well chosen, but far too loud) in many cases. This is perhaps the biggest fault I have found in this movie.

For seven minutes, it is not a bad watch. It is not, however, a great one either. I am perhaps judging this too harshly because of the praise it has been given; it is only the beginning in a series (8-part, you say!?), so I hope you plan to get more detail in the following episodes. However, for this part, I felt that you've successfully wowed the audience with some fantastic mods (The Nuclear explosion is by far the best mod I've ever seen on The Movies Game) and wrote a run-of-the-mill script. I don't rate movies based on mods, however, so this movie did not strike me as anything more than mediocre.

I do not mean to appear offensive, so I am sorry if I do. This movie simply did not set well with me - I am just judging it with a very high-standard in mind, you see. I think you have a lot of promise, just don't rely so heavily on flashy effects winning the reviewers over from now on (as they obviously did here).

I certainly did not expect visual effects of this quality, even after I heard all the buzz about this new film from an old, but unheard-of TMO member. Then the story kicked in and I was hooked. Great characters so far in this brief intro, and I look forward to their further development in the installments to come. I did notice a few oddities due to your choice of scenes; for example, some of the people had their arms up as if carrying an invisible rifle, or looking at and being poked by an invisible blade. You can get around some of that with the more selective use of camera angles--zoom in closer in some scenes to cut off their arms, or use props to obscure those parts you don't want seen (bushes, telephone booths, etc.). Other than this nitpicking, this promises to be a great tale with an even greater message behind it all. I am happy to hear that you will continue this, and hopefully sometime soon.

This movie literally blew me away (Sorry for the pun) but it did, every scene was a joy to watch. Loved those opening scenes probably the best shots ever made. The mods were amazing, so much work and time has gone into this, I can tell. The VO's were spot on and you leave it at a point where I want to know more, Love how he was cut of mid sentence at the end.

What a way to start, I'll definitely be watching out for part 2.

That was amazing! The retextures look awesome! It must have been hard making an overlay to make it seem like that robot was shooting lightning. I was in awe of the many retextures and mods there were. That nuclear explosion, the capitol, it's all amazing!!! The VO's with the robot sounded cool, with that robotic voice. I may have misheard, but did that red robot say he was Simon Cowell? If he did, hahaha that was funny.

It happened again. I - almost - forgot I was watching a "The Movies" film. You get so drawned into the story, that it becomes - almost - real. Excellent start of what could be a great sci-fi serie!
Very good work using the overlays.
I like how you are attentive to the most details possible.
I understand why this one took so much time when I see the work put into it.
Try to keep it that way, without rushing things, take your time to continue like this and we'll have a not-to-miss TMO sci-serie here!
Oh and try to avoid the original ingame music as much as possible, people have been listening to those for almost two years! ^^
Anyway, this is fantastic so far! Keep it up!

Utterly brilliant! Capitol Origin is a fantastic creation by a director who is new to me. Incredible effects, mods and direction along with the beautiful sound design make this film shear eye candy for film lovers. The screenplay is top of the line and extremely engaging. Also top of the line are the voice actors of Rene Camus and the director Alex Bradley. So many voices from just two stars, incredible. The hard work and care for detail make this a perfect candidate for being an instant TMO classic.
Pure movie magic his found here in Alex Bradley??s stunning film.

A Verry Clever idea, i liked the story, and the mods and effects where fantastic. But this movie suffers from the problem that most of todays (real) movies do. Great action and effects, but no real good character development, ok acting preformances. Also the ending is too wired and quick, i don´t get a [be polite!] about it, if there is not going to be a sequel that is.

Amazing !
one of the best movies i've seen!!
how do you do the lazer fx?

Look, I could go on and on about how your movie was amazing. (which it definatly was) but I'll just sum it up with two words:

Holy sh!t.

(PS. the overlays for the apocolypse scenes...dude...i pooped myself watching those...twice...)

Sign me up in solid agreement with everyone who has expressed their appreciation for this film already. Sound effects, weather, tension, buildup, directing, SFX, story, yep you've got them all covered most impressively here. The voiceovers could have been a little louder as they were sometimes overshadowed by the music and other sounds, but that's a small complaint that doesn't detract from the overall sophistication of this movie.

Dulcilicious!

A most impressive film from a filmaker that I will be watching closely from now on. Alex Bradley and Renee Camus played a plethora of roles and played them well. You have an incredible imagination and vision.

great job,

You are a GOD!! Currently picking up my mind from the floor. This was a gem. The story was great, a true totalitarian piece that brings life to the disturbing thought of an apocolypse. Reminded me a lot of Orwell's 1984, but that's a compliment because I loved that book. The VOs were very good for having only used yourself and aone Renee Camus, but what was most impressive about the sound was how everything was brought to life with the suttleties. For instance, when the 3 students are talking outside, you can still here the news report going on behind them. Every little bleep and bop was right in its place. Of oucrse, the best part of this film was the masterfl overlays. Lemme just say that the apoclypse sequence nearly made me shat myself because I thought it was actually happening (you think I'm joking). Very well done. I simply can not wait until part 2. A brand new imaginitve director is bursting onto the TMO scene, so step aside and get ready to be wowed!

JESUS CHRIST!!!
I am speechless right now.
That was SOOOO amazing. The overlay work is the best I have EVER seen on TMO. I have no clue how you did some of that. The nuclear explosions were downright insane and amazing. I really saw your effort in this production. You created a living breathing world, with posters of that robot everywhere. Really amazing. This really got me off guard. I've never heard of you before, yet you come up with something this brilliant. I am baffled at the moment. The story looks pretty promising too. The intro sequence really made me want to know more about what happens. The whole idea is unique and original. Overall, this was one of the most impressive films to date on TMO, I am glad I know who you are now, and am truly one of your biggest fans. Beyond magnificent.

- The story seemed pathetic. What is Simon, and what did it have to do with those the people? If you're going to make a movie with so many great mods, you might want to make the story clearer, even if it's getting a sequel. I mean, it goes like this: robots blast people with lightning hands, then attack some politicians, they know him, then a city gets blown up -you don't even know who did it or why-, then some kids leave a school, one gets drugs, a building blows up, the end. What the hell? You need to make the voices less robotic so you can understand the words. The music was so loud at some points, you couldn't hear anybody talk. Some of the scenes didn't go right together. Right before the building goes to hell, the guy with a beard looks like he's getting arrested. At least change the perspective in freecam to correct it. The noise was extremely loud; and I had headphones on. T_T

+ The overlays were the most impressive part of this movie. It really helped the movie flow smootly. The huge explosion was incredible. The script was okay.

? Who blew the city up? Why? Who or what is Simon? Why is a dude in cowboy underwear trying to blow up the city?

Overall:
Music: 3/5 Use some outside music.
Mods: 5/5 Incredible overlays, but not much in the way of cotumes.
Costumes: 4/5 Not very interesting.
Atmosphere: 4/5 You need to make the scenes go better together, and you could sometimes see the scaffolding; like where the hobo guy was ranting in front of the building. Just look on the left, and you'll see the metal cage pillar thing. Just get DR_HOUSE's no scaffolding mod.
Voice Overs: 4/5 Get more voice actors, and have less background noise. You can request them in the Movies forum, in the 'Your Movies' section.

4/5 GOOD

Notes:
I wasn't very interested in the movie, aside from the mods. I'm not interested in seeing a sequel, unless you improve on these main problems: Don't ever have mods as the selling point for movies; EVER. Get a better story, explain the background on the history, and make it feel more like a futuristic scifi movie. It needs more of a twist than a hobo in his underwear blowing up buildings; it needs more of a story. The viewer has to understand what the hell is going on.

It truly speaks for the filmmaker when I can remember his name, although I had never really contact with him and when he wasn't really active on TMo Forums either, at least I think so. Well, I remember your name and I remember Odyssey Jones pretty good, with which you showed you that your technical skills are superior.

Now with CAPITOL Origin you took a huge jump, not only from Odyssey Jones, but maybe form everything else. Those overlay effects are breathtaking and it's amazing that you managed to create them with The Movies. I mean, people can create them maybe with external videoprogramme, but not with The Movies I thought. The amount of effort which went into this project pays totally off. Also the camera work looks really good, some original angles.

The story seems to be interesting, although I didn't understand the whole conversations of these guys, poor english =/. It reminds me quiet of Equilibrium, 1984 and many other. One of those futuristic, big brother movies, you know. Good stuff definitley.

Unfortunately you had no lip synchronization in here, which is a shame, I guess, but I guess too you had your reasons (technical performance of the PC maybe)

Overall this was a great start, can't wait to see the other episodes.

WOW! This is by far one of the best movies i've seen on TMO.
Not to mention one of the best sci-fi's i've seen on here!
A film-making achievement to go down in TMO history definelty. Awesome film.
I loved it. There were a few scenes i hadn't seen before, which i felt was very clever of you to show us something new. Great job. All the mods added to this movie and made it look incredible. Not to mention the amazing sound-effects, excellent stuff. The music was a nice touch and the vo's were bloody fantastic!
HOLY COW! That really was very good. I loved it from the word go.
Overall: 10/10
It's a TMO sci classic. Very good dialogue and many memborable moments make this top notch film! Excellent work!
Well done. I look forward to more. Incredible!!!!

OMG! That was an Amazing Watch!
Terrific first Part to what looks to be an awesome New Series on TMO.
Your Retextures are superb.. Set dressing had me salivating.
The Overlays... Sweet Bejebus! Incredible!
VO's were very good too. Maybe just a 'tad' low in some parts compared
to the other sounds but hey.. Its very hard to control
with only 3 sliders huh..? :)
An exceptionally good Movie/Series that I will most definitely
be following with each new Instalment released.
Well Done! Thanks for making such a spectacular & entertaining Movie.

Wow. What a fascinating film world you've created here. I loved it. Plus, great use of pretty much every mod available ;). The acting is top notch and the scripted dialogue is quite realistic. You've managed to use TM to its full potential, so well done.

I actually made some mods for another film a while back that you might be able to use in the next ep. Send me an e-mail at jimbowelcome@yahoo.com if you want to have a look at them.

Not sure where this came from...very unexpected. Theres so much new and fresh going on. I will have to rewatch a few times to get whats going on but you have certainly outdone yourself as far as creating a totally new place unseen on tmo. Great call to use the robot tv sounds all through the background. Disorienting at first but worked very well I thought. Very impressive work.
