Film Description
Featuring:-
Kwistufa as Jack O'Reilly
Cerenomus as Sheriff Morgan

My humble thanks goes to the "Hammer'n'Tap Bushband" for their assistance with the making of this film.

Enormous thanks to Kwistufa, Cerenomus and Tarison for their contributions and support.

No mods were used.

"Hammer'n'Tap" was a feature bushband of the outback from 1979-85, specialising in Irish, Scottish and Celtic folk songs and covers of popular bush ballads. I was very lucky to be their roadie back in my misguided youth. The members were teachers, miners, public servants - a cross section of society of Broken Hill. They released one vinyl and one CD during the peak of their popularity as a local pro-am icon. While the members have gone on to bigger and better lives their echo in folk music lingers.

Clever and full of rich, interesting characters - not something you see in a lot of westerns. Excellent writing, editing, and acting highlight this tale. Fantastic stuff you've got here. Can't wait to see more from you.

He shoots, and he scores!

Westerns are a dime a dozen here on TMO, and very few stand-out amongst the greatest of TMO films. You can now add "A Bushranger in Texas", to that list.

You have crafted a masterpiece here, on all aspects of filmmaking, writing, directing, editing, music selection, etc, etc....To point out any one of this movies strengths would be an insult to another.

So, with that said; a great film you've put together here, and i feel we havn't seen the last of ol' Jack.

A finely crafted piece of work here. Well acted with only minor problems in sound quality for some of the main characters.

An unusual and original comedy which occasionally relied on sight-gags and farts to get its laughs, but also had some genuinely funny moments and evidence of much thought going into the script.

Very good sound design and the editing was flawless. I also liked the small details which needn't have been there but added so much to the picture and the atmosphere (such as a passing "nice hat stranger" from one of the locals).

The music was good too - "Hammer 'n' Tap" suited this film well.

So, all-in-all, an excellent film here.

The opening was so cool, the credits played well with the title card. The characters are funny, esp. the english guard and how everyone compliments his hat. The funniest thing was when they were playing cards and the shierff had his gun already loaded ready to shoot at Riley.
Final Thought-Great film. The overlays worked well. It was very enjoyable and a classic. For me it wasnt 5star, it had a great scenes and was a western comedy classic.

Well well well... This is a pretty good Western! Liked the different spin you put on it, it sorta kinda reminded me of a movie I saw on TV with the guy who played as Magnum PI as the main character. Only that one was with the main character going to Australia to do work, not from Australia.
Ok enough rambleing. 5 stars.

WOW!!!
Film making of the absolute highest quality. Great music, great script, and voice acting straight out of Hollywood. I wanted to give this movie six stars, but the website wouldn't let me!

'Planet Death'
Fun movie with great sound work & the use of the music is very well done. Some of the comedy moments are a bit reminiscent of the Pink Panther movies, and I mean that in the best of ways. "Nice hat", "so it's been established" LOL. The witty banter keeps the movie flowing & entertaining. It would've been nice to have some more chatter and glass clinking sound effects in the saloon. (was that Ennio Morricone btw?) The camera work during the card game is LOTS of fun, reminds me of 'That 70's Show'. Great character, it's almost as if he's the Jack Sparrow of the old west, and something else altogether, hah! I hope you make more of these.

I saw your review of 'Planet Death' and I was hoping perhaps you could review my magnus opus - 'Doom Soldiers - The Citadel'. :) It's only a couple of minutes longer than this one, and has been in the making for quite a long time now. Thanks in advance!!!

A great comedy with the qualities of a great western and the tecnical and formal achievments it needed to deliver that story. 5 stars!

Pretty good. I'm not a fan of westerns, but you added a bit of comedy which (although hit-and-miss) was nice. Somehow this felt like a more serious The Germantican. I love the constable, too. Only complaint was that it was a little boring in spots, but meh, nothing to bad. I'd say 4.5 rounded to 5.

Wow, haven't done this in a while... would you mind reviewing my movie Innocent Pt. 2? Make sure to read the description first, though. I would appreciate a good, honest review.

What's the conversion rate of 5 stars to pounds? The lines were not forced and they set up the jokes beautifully. The antihero is likeable and wonderfully flawed. (side note) A little cast-shadow behind any light text will help readability. Personally, I'm looking forward to the next installment. This film was bloody fun to watch.

Did I find this movie enjoyable? Yes! I almost always go for the gut feeling I have when I finished watching a movie and this one I liked. I thought the map shot was brilliant! Reminded me of Bonanza a bit. Good humor, Va's and music. Keep 'em coming!

Nice work, Armand - I love your attention to detail, the camera work and editing, the overlays and the music! Great voiceacting, too, and a good story! It is very apparent how much time and work was invested into this movie!
What makes me deduct a star is a very personal take on it - for me, personally it moved a tiny bit too slow, and though I smiled a lot, it didn't make me laugh out loud... but eh, that is just me (I have a weird sense of humour).
Good work!

The start of the movie with the yello writing did not work as it should be blue, green or dark red in movies or presintations.
I liked the idea of the map at the begining
The acting was realy good. the first bit was a bit slow and boring. it was very easy to follow. The music had good effect and choice for the situation. neared the end i got a bit bored and started to loose intrest. It has some funny bits which made me smile. Your charecters wer good and strong and you kept them all through the movie. The dialogue was clear and i could hear everyword you said. It was very creative and very good ideas and movie storyline. I liked your camera angels over all this was a slightly boring movie with a few laughs and good acting. Not good for kids and not somthing i would recomend

Well i am lost for words because this was so powerful and an in incredible masterpierce. You delivered a perfect transfer with music and voices. The whole structure got me so focused. Also i find it now a film based in western times such as your movie is getting quite rare on the website but you have not just delivered a western but you have something in your movie that gets you compelled. I think the time and effort into this movie has affected your ratings by far and i'm surely going to add your studio and movie to my studio so well done!!

I've got a good mind to delete my game from my hard drive, smash my computer with a baseball bat, and then promptly light said computer on fire. There is no reason for me to keep playing this game when I will never match the quality and sheer entertainment value of this movie. To date this is perhaps the best thing I've seen on TMO, and that's saying a lot cuz' there's some great stuff out there. The acting was stellar and the story had me hooked from the start. This movie actually made me smile. I don't like to smile. Darn you for making me do so. Anywho, the bottom line: You are bookmarked, what-what.

This is the kind of movies that proves what I always said: mods don't make a movie!! Congratulations, that was really well done.
I was searching for western music so I'll go to check this sounddogs music website :)
Anyway I really enjoy the story, that was really fun lol.
There was here a very very god work on the sound aspect, that really impressed me.
Unfortunately there was some aproximation...sometimes we can see the end of the sets (black screen where there is no set and no backdrop) or the floor wasn't the same (when we first see indians, the floor is not sand, but the second time it is)...this is some mistake that would be easily not done with more attention on cam angle (or mods lol), but this is really minor flaws.
Anyway good job ;)

Hahaha! I laught a lot during this film! And that`s what a comedy should do!

I can`t believe Kwis and cerenomus did all the voice, well doesn`t matter they made a fantastic job! The music fitted always and I loved especially the intro music, a good selection. And the direction was also very well done, with great cam angles and always fitting and ceativ sceen selection.
Fantastic job on this one! =)

An very enjoyable ride from Australia to Texas, not only funny, but also with a good storyline, which is unforunately not that naturally in the comedy genre as it should be. Yeah, filmmakers have to choose. Do they want to make a serious movie with humorous elemts or do they want to make a funny movie, which often ends up to be the totally different thing.

For me it's obvious you have chosen the first and you truly succeed in doing it. I found it refreshing in this old dress. I already got caugt by the opening scene. Not only a truly cinematic achievement here on TMo, in it's felicitous style, but the dialogues too. Each time when we listen exercises in english and we hear asian speaking, I have to laugh. It's the same here, I might be just too primitive, but I laugh, and of course it's not meant to be racist, it's simply just...funny. And the rest of the film keeps being as enjoyable as the start. Be it the songs, be the indians or be it the "nice hat" jokes.

Although you are love for details falls off a little bit in the middle, the showdown is a collection of scenes and angles, edited perfectly. A big plus is the music too! Oh, which atmosphere gets created just by using this music. Marvellous! Also the VOs are hilarous, as I mentioned before the asian guy does a great job, I actually think he is asian, but anyway - Great job by all VAs.

All in all a great movie, Armand. Or as those cowboys would say: "Nice movie, partner!"

Well Played Armand. Flawless and witty, the use of "no mods" was great, and your camera work was top notch. You really know what your doing and have made what I would call a true TMO gem of a film. Loved every moment. Just fantastic.

I wont re-hash all thats been said, but this is a top bit of work. 5 well earned stars.

Well, very impressive. very Australian like, i am impressed a nice aussie western.

You made it like we were back in the 19th century. those overlays were great and the cast was great, kudos to them all. The music, the dialogue "ol chap" was very well...only 1 word great. I could go on and on but I think my co-host Andy sums the whole movie up.

Overall, impressively done and 5 stars!

Classic Aussie daytime TV at its best right here ladies and gentlemen!

From the get go, you set that lonely, outback feel with some great matching sound effects to boot, especially the clock in the opening scene, I thought that was fantastic. You set a kind of daytime TV western movie feel; like the movies you watch on free to air when you have a day off.
Just a note however, the title Sydney Town was very hard to read as the yellow font blended with the sand, so perhaps choosing a vibrant and easy-to-see color will do the trick, or I'm sure there will be many people out there willing to make one for you.
In the opening sequence however, I must note that I never actually knew what genre this film was, as the comedy began with Jack, so perhaps inserting a pun or a joke before the credits would've been fitting to help set the tone for the rest of the movie, because I was assuming it would be an action film.

At 5:13, I loved that transition with the map, I thought that was quite clever and pretty cool. One thing I'd like to point out is that during the Stagecoach conversation scene, you could see the backdrop which had stopped... I had the same problem with one of my movies, so I used a scrolling wall, but as you're not really in-the know with mods, my advice would be to try and avoid showing the back-wall, because it kind of ruins the flow as the stagecoach would be moving. It's not like it'd stop just to let Jack talk.

Also, during the beginning, the dialogue didn't flow as there was a slight pause which really disrupted the conversation, but it seems as if it fixed itself up during the film, until it flowed seamlessly. As far as matching the dialogue with the actors is concerned, as the film heavily relied on dialogue, some conversation scenes seemed too organized, like the camera would go to the character who talks immediately as soon as they are in the shot, if you know what I mean. I would've liked to see a bit of variation where perhaps after one character has finished talking, the other starts and then after a few seconds, the camera moves to the character talking just to add that variation. It's kind of hard to explain, but is quite effective and is certainly noticeable, but we did know who was talking which was something other people fail to do sometimes, but I'd have liked to see that tiny bit more. I'm just being at my most picky, because from what I saw, mate, you've got some serious talent. Other than that, the dialogue was seemless and abolutely spot-on, perfect dialogue. I really appreciated the part at about 8:40 where the constable guy walks past a random westerner, and they comment each other as they walked past. I haven't seen such detail to dialogue on TMO yet, and I thought that was very, very clever. It also set the difference between the constable and the typical wild western cowboy, which is clever directing and scripting on your behalf. Fantastic dialogue mate, bloody spot on.

Let's move to the editing now... Where do I start? Absolutely fantastic editing, very tight, very clever, very inventive, very good! One shot I thought was fantastic was where Jack "jumps" out the window; you combined three different scenes seamlessly which really shows how clever you were with scene selection in this film. Mate, I'd love to see you get some of the new scenes from House Mods; get someone to show you how to install it because I'd love to see what you'd do with those new scenes! Very clever and tight editing, fantastic all-round, absolutely spotless. No stupid mistakes that you see in many other TMO films which shows your seriousness as a director and attention to detail, I cannot commend the editing and scene selection enough. Another scene I enjoyed was where the carriage driver got off his steed and peered through the window, I thought that was really clever too.

You must've been a professional camera-man man, because the free-cam was fantastic. You integrated it perfectly in every scene as you considered every single shot and created something out of nothing in every scene. Where you could've let the default camera be, you saw what else you could do with it and used it perfectly, brilliant work there. You established the scenes well and set moods/tones with it; great work!

Kwis was a perfect Jack O'Reily, I couldn't think of anyone else who could play that role as well as he did, the dialogue suited him too, it was fantastic voice work in fact by all the actors; the old guy with the beard in the bar, his laugh was an absolute standout; the constable especially with the nice hat... my hats off to the actor... ok that was lame, but anyway; and everyone else, there were a lot of colourful characters and were bought to life by the wonderful voice actors, kudos to all involved.

Music was great too, really relaxing and perfect for the movie you created; which was fun and also a relaxing watch. I'm a huge rock/metal fan and I'm not a big fan of country, but music selection was fantastic! I'm being really, really picky here, (and I mean really, really), but at the scene where Jack meets the Aboriginals, I thought the music could've gone on a tad bit longer rather than ending before he saw what they were doing. Of course, I'm being picky here, but I hope my advice perhaps gets everything 100% spot on for part two (this was at 99% :P).

Speaking of part two, the story was fantastic as you never really knew what direction the film would go next, and I still don't know what's going to happen, which is really captivating and engrossing. Great character development too, each character is colourful and have their own flair and personality which was great! Finally a bushranger movie which is fantastic as I'm a fan of the bushranger period. The comedy was fun too as the clever script really helped lighten up the atmosphere. This was really relaxing and I had a ball watching this!

Overall, that was fantastic and I'm definitely looking forward to Part Two! I know I was picky in my review, but after watching this, I can't imagine what you're going to achieve in your TMO career... I reckon with your talent, you're gonna go places. I really hope you learn how to install and use mods, because from what I've seen here with your imagination, I'd love to see what you can do!

A worthy winner of Andy's 6th Star Award! A prestigious award which I give out to the most deserving films! Congrats on this great achievment, the film was fantastic!

And why the hell does this movie only have 6 reviews? Come on TMO, that's appalling! This fantastic film deserves a lot more than that, the 15 minutes fly!

Great stuff here, Armand. Love Jack's authentic, Aussie, apathetic bumbling. Some great sound effects - ;D - and the music is perfectly suited. You were lucky to get your hands on it royalty free. Your editing is outstanding. There really weren't any of those common TM moments where the combination of two scenes is clearly noticeable. Another outstanding Aussie film on TMO. Good work.

Terrific mood, feel and sound to this movie. Made me nostaligic for the old aussie shows on TV ('Rush', etc).

Voice over work was superb. Kwistufa was (naturally) a perfect fit. And let's not forget the script and dialogue. Very professional, and very funny.

I want more TMO movies like this. I really do.

Cannot praise this movie highly enough!!!

Woah ARMAND! You continue to impress me!

I don't know where to start!

THE MUSIC:
The music was amazing. That band was great, and it really captured the feel of the movie and the time period. It helped you set that fun, light, western tone perfectly!

THE VO'S:
Another perfect element of this masterpiece! The voice work here was superb. Every actor here knew their part, and played it well. The voice over work combined with your excellent directing made for some very well-developed, and lovable characters!

THE PLOT:
Period pieces are very hard to do. Normally, they require a large array of mods and other resources. Even with no mods, this movie was pulled off well. The dialogue, setting, and directing really captured the feeling for this movie. The plot was fun and simple. Unfortunately, we don't get many westerns on this site, so it is a real treat to see one of this stature grace the viewers on TMO. This was an amazing movie that delivered an entertaining adventure story with a comedic twist.

TECHNICAL STUFF:
Flawless. You continue to impress me in this field. Everything fits together perfectly. The music. The VO's. The appropriate run time. It all fits together like pieces in a puzzle. Oh, and did I mention the camera work? This is where "A Bushranger in Texas" shines the brightest! The camera looked as if it was done by a professional!

OVERALL:
This was a great movie, which was technically flawless and offered some very neat insight to the western era. It uses these techniques to do what is most important: it entertains.

To rate this film with anything under five stars would be a crime! :)

Excellent Flick!
Really enjoyed watching this Armand.
Can't believe you got it all wrapped up so quick either.
Into a very well made & quality Film.
Storyline was Excellent. So was the Music, well chosen
& well suited on every front. The Characters were all likeable.
The Voice overs, other than Jack, were Awesome!!
Very Clear & perfectly pitched to the Characters portayed.
The Chuckling Ol Bearded Guy in the Saloon was a stand out.
His demeanor made me laugh. Also Murdoch was very good.
Really liked the background Sounds & effects too...
Its these little things that make a Movie Big.
Like for example, when Jack goes out the Window we hear a Cat screech.
Thats great. Its the things like this that always stand out to me.
The editing & Cuts were Superb.
This movie also goes to show that to tell a Great Story
with an entertaining Movie is all thats needed.
No sign of Mods anywhere in this flick
other than an Overlay. Wow. Thats also worth noticing.
Well I am VERY Impressed with this 1st Instalment Armand!
Thanks for getting me on board with this Production.
Look forward to the next Part of this exciting Comedy Tale to be told.
Well Done!

Armand this was excellent. The critiques I had of Hell Spawned became strengths in this film and I have very few things to nit pick at as a result. First off the story was solid. Everything was clear and concise and the dialogue was really sharp. Theres some great one liners and a funny hat fixation. The VOs were great and your cast was really good. Kwistufa was good as Jack lending a lovable loser quality to the guy while your Aussie policeman had an uptight @sskicker quality. The camera was spot on creating great scenes in the sherrifs office and in the bar. My favorite sequence of scenes was the capture sequence which was filmed really well and had a fun quality to it.

My only critisisms involve the beginning and the end. I couldnt figure out the tone of the movie until Jack came along and as I didnt read the description before watching, I didnt realize this was a comedy. The intro had a "Coogans Bluff" kind of theme and I thought this was a more serious movie. This tone continued through the intro credits. It may have been useful to introduce a comedy element right before the intro credits instead of waiting till after. Finally, I thought the ending was a bit rushed and just seemed to stop. This was dissapointing as it followed my favorite part of the film and I would have liked to see what happened. Overall, I enjoyed this immensly and it leaps into my top 5 favorite westerns on TMO. Great film.
