Film Description
Welcome to the feature presentation of Death & Life by Sparky1512. Its more of a black comedy drama than a 'Comedy' but comedy seemed the most fitting catagory for releasing it into.

BECAUSE OF ARTHUR MCKINNEY???S UNTIMELY DEPARTURE FROM THE MORTAL WORLD, TIME AND THE UNIVERSE IS UNRAVELLING. IT IS NOW UP TO DEATH AND ARTHUR TO RESOLVE THE SITUATION BEFORE THE UNIVERSE DISAPPEARS INTO NOTHINGNESS

The first thing that springs to mind when someone mentions "sparky's Death and Life" is the ending. Perfect ending; so John Cleese like too!

Well this was a bundle of fun, and while comedic moments were few and far, I thought that was thoroughly entertaining. The script was really well written, and the voice acting was fantastic by the whole cast. (If I were Death, I would never put the fate of the world on Arthur's shoulders).
Editing and blah blah blah was great all-round, and the opening narrative was a great way to introduce the story.
Nice original concept too.

I still felt that this could've been a bit more, as it was almost more like a long introduction rather than an actual film. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it felt a bit short; like it was missing that something else. Perhaps, like a real dangerous situation rather than a little candle.

Great didgeridoo playing too; you should come down to the Outback here in Australia and play in an Aboriginal band... I'll play the wah-wah paper =D

Overall I liked the concept and thought this film was a lot of fun, but I must say that Sins had a bit more oomph in it, thus D&L narrowly avoiding my 6th star award, but, nevertheless, well worth the 5-stars.

Now, about the band...

Yep, a real fine movie. I think it has been made for the Lionhead Competition, cause because of this whole choices thing once more.

Anyway, it was pretty original and very good written, espiacally in the end I found it very funny. I loved the Voice of Death, you have really done a great job yourself on him. I don't know if you have changed the voice via a programme, but it sounds very...authentic anyways.

Nice music too, although you could have composed some more.

That was the best movie ever seen, the voices were great and the plot was more valuble than a eternal oil well (well not to be overdramatic)

Great work here, I really enjoyed this. The script was well written and voices were fabulous. A great job was done with Death. There were a number of moments for some laughs as well. I enjoyed your titles and freecam also. There was not a lot of music, which is not a bad thing. It would have taken away from the focus on Death. So good job in that department. But the music that was there, was well done. Especially during Arthurs life story. A very original story, great script, and enjoyable character equals a job well done.

Hey, that was pretty awesome! Very well made there Sparky, the writing was great!
It seemed a little slow in parts but I did love some of the lines in there. The musical score was perfect and my congrats to the cast (and yourself!)for the VO's.
Nice work!

Nice little bit of tongue in cheek story telling that I enjoyed very much.
The echo on the voice fo death introducing himself was a good recuring bit o' humor.

I liked the voice acting overall,Sparky and Snake were very good, I thought the music was good too..I was thinking about the "girl with far away eyes" on the closing.

nice work!

I felt that, with a more "stressed out" style, this would be a brilliant gem. However you didn't, so you'll have to settle for a gem. Nice and entertaining. Brevity is your friend.

Hello!
What an original movie wich mix differents genres. The duet with the death and the fire fighter is really nice. The casting act very well, the voice effects give a particular touch to the death.
Your use of camera is good and the scenes are well cut. You're written the music, very well done! Just a little too loud by moment.
You made a very good job. I'll keep an eye on your studio.
Cheers.

A great tale of the woes that come with being Death. A real treat in delivery with its witty dialog and well paced structure. I loved every second of this and found the story to bring us a unique tale where the world almost ended.

Well acted, strongly directed and brilliantly shot, this film delivers something unique and hold us for the entire time. Well done Sparky, as i have said before you make clever seem easy with your ease of use.

Cheers and 5 stars for a well done film.

Script: 5 stars; Great representation of a rare but not unique theme. The cues were very skillfully written, and the dialogues in general were higher than a standard level. The flashback styled story was fantastically thought and carried out. The ending was simply fantastic. Death's monologue was well done and performed.

Editing: 5 stars; Flawless, great use of angles, and a good scene choice and cutting. Nothing to say about this part. Probably one of the best editors on TMO.

Music & SFX: 4 stars; Great music selection, and well put on the scenes. Few mistakes though, but close to perfection. Some good timing with the sound effects on explosions, fires, and Death's "transportations." This last ones though were not always perfectly timed. Also, the scene on the guy walking trough the door could have used a bit of music. Few other scenes needed it as well. Lots of the "mute" scenes were correctly edited with the use of SFX, but the ones lacking it lost a bit on interest. Also, when you stopped the music going into the building's fire, the firemen were talking about explosion, you could have added that SFX to help on the transition. For the rest, great job.

Not easy to get five stars from me, but you well deserve them. Overall a great piece of work. Good comedy, though I wouldn't say hilarious. Greatly directed and edited. You should just put some more time on the music part.

I was very split on this review, of one of the most unique flicks I've seen on TMO. It's different, thought-provoking and memorable. But there were some flaws that hold this film back from absolute excellence.
Let's start with the good:
The monologue of Death was very interesting and a cool way for the strange character to get his point across.
Brilliant camera shots.
A really, well thought out script that was maybe the best part of the film.
Awesome voiceovers.

The Bad:
Arthur wasn't terribly likable, and ultimately clueless. He didn't seem to be a very good character overall, yet he was needed.
Almost too much dialogue. You have a great talent with freecam, so if you sometimes just have more scenes without dialogue you'll be able to exhibit your camerawork more effectively.

Overall, a great film, that's so unique and refreshing. Brilliant script, beautiful camerawork and a great character in Death.

A smashing flick - This isn't a zanny, random-for-laughs kind of comedy, it's one that's been thought out and wants people to listen to it, not just watch it. Zero-predictability and splashes of dry humor make this flick a very enjoyable, easy-to-watch film. Well done!

- Orky.

Great concept, very well executed....some of the dialogue was a little...clunky (trust me on this, fireman usually don't say "Darn, it's really dang hot in here"), but the performances were very good, with Sparky's Death a real standout. The camera work was very nice, and I loved the very-appropriate score.

Can't wait to see more from this studio.

What a likable character Death was! :p

Only two things played untrue to me in this ode to causality. The dog attack (?) scene was a bit out of the blue near the beginning and the end credits while spectacular looking, did not fit the movie. Otherwise Death stole the show to the point where I wish Life and Fate had been established as characters in this film. A bit long and slow in the way that the old Doc Who other BBC scifi played out. Actually added to the charm. Bravo.

Very Nice Sparky! An original concept, and a smashing cast. I found the story very enjoyable, I found yourconcept of reality and exsitense to be very interesting, and you did a wonderful job of expressing it. Some interesting camera work, not amazing, but not bad, good job manipulating some ofthe scenes, nice editing aswell, I think I noticed a bit of sound sync, but nothing that can ruin the movie.

I must say, that for soemone so new to TMO you do a good job, Im seeing a lot of you lately and I hope to see more. Keep up the good work, etc. etc.

Wow, you had an excellent cast!! Too bad my bad acting ruined my part. Anyway, I liked the flow you were trying, and did, achieve. My favorite shot had to have been the first one, when you had the camera go through each set like they were connected to make a community, that truly was a clever idea! I also liked how you mixed the death (kinda) genre with a firefighting kind of focus, what a great combo you have brought upon me.

This film was entertaining from A to Z, everything seemed to flawless, except my acting...

All in all, nice film, nice ending and I loved the narration!

excellent, it was great, one voice over had depth to it while the others didn't , but that's ok. Andy_inc said it, the entire story felt either a extremely long trailer or a really long intro. either way you loo at it. How did you crrate that music...I thought it was great. Overall it was great. Keep on filmin'

JAKECHIEF GAZZETTE

Death & Life Rated: PG-13
Violence

Graded: A

"Death & Life" shows a lot of promise. It is about a man named Death telling us about a man named Arthur who died in a fire because Arthur was a fireman. But Death had a list of people dieing whenever and Death didn't have him on his list. So, he is talking to Arthur and brings him to life and tries to stop the fire from happening. This film was spectacular with great editing and great VOs. It shows a lot of Death related material and it's well thought though. People at the Jakechief Gazzette are wondering if we're on the Death list today.

I enjoyed that. Fate plays with Man as t'wer a game of chess, but Death tilts the board.
Another great VA performance Sparky, loved the dry humour and the effects (especially when preceded by :not to be overly dramatic).
Causality and the theory of interconnectedness are always great material ?? just a joy of a film.

I Am sooooo glad I watched this film! While some of the elements within the film worked as if the film were serious, The twist at the end made the film a vast amount more enjoyable. The Choriography was incredible and the script was crisp and refreshing! Plz Check Out These 2 Films:
"Jimmy's Day Out" And "Cruel Brittania" Thank YOU!!!!

Hehe, I enjoyed this very much! Death is a likeable fellow... caring much more about us poor living souls than I would have imagined!
Great voiceacting (especially you!) and voice effects, sound effects and cam work plus the music that fitted the mood perfectly, and I loved that ending!
Great work!

Now that was a different kind of film here on TMO. Entertaining, and thought-provoking. Mixing action, drama, and the esoteric really paid off. I appreciated the concept, enjoyed the music and effects (those title credits were brilliant!). I look forward to your next offering.
