The maestro of Sci-Fi once again raises the bar on every Sci-FI film that intends to be created, and hits us with another heart-pounding, claustrophobic, exhilarating adventure...
Strike, how much better can these get?

After an absolute monster review on the last episode, I don't feel the need to re-iterate what I had said, although I must commend you on taking us to another world... again. The use of mods and overlays was absolutely superb, and it really made me believe that I was in space, giving me a claustrophobic feel.
There were a few small things however, that did disappoint me. One of them had to be some of the loose editing. I find it distracting when one character talks and another moved, which happened quite a bit in this film, and especially in important scenes such as Captain Hero addressing the commander. If you have the dialogue "in-line" with the visuals, then that makes the scene more believable and more powerful, but I can't criticize unless I have some form of advice, and my advice is to just duplicate lots and lots of scenes so both characters "move" enough for the scene. You can never have enough. Another way past it, is to not show the other character at all in one of the shots if you're mixing them up. Scene choices were absolutely superb, but I would've liked to see you use more emotions as selections during some scenes, such as when Hero was angry, because standing still doesn't carry the same effect.
The sound levels at times were a little topsy-turvy, someone would be loud, another quiet which causes the film to lose a touch of its professionalism. Nevertheless, it was great for the most part, but I felt you did a better job in leveling the audio in Episode 3. *cough* Levelator *cough*
But as far as tighter editing is concerned there were one or two spots where there would be a short un-hesitant pause while waiting for a reply which kind of breaks up the scene.

The music was absolutely superb, I really loved some of those tracks, especially towards the end of the film. The tracks reminded me a lot like the game Metroid Prime; being in space and alone on a planet. They really gave that creepy sense of being up in space, but however, a few just didn't quite fit in I felt, such as you used one of MaestroRage's tracks during one of the scenes where Hero is asked if there's anything else he wants; the score just didn't fit there, but the rest were well selected and definitely captured that "lost in space" feel (although they weren't lost... ah, you get my drift :D)
The sound effects were also amazing, I loved the way you really added life to a scene by adding special effects to the sound effects.

Now, where do I begin with the free-cam, mods, story, dialogue, acting etc...?
The fact is, that I can't begin, because I have no idea where to begin without writing a 1000000000 word story, because they were just all top-notch. Once again, everyone delivered an empowering performance, and my hats off to JosephKW as the mad scientist, I thought he did an excellent job. But yeah, as I was saying, the mods and overlays were just incredible, I'm practically speechless, because they were just out of this world, I cannot commend you enough.
The story and dialogue were also fantastic. 20 minutes is a very long time, however they past quicker than 5 minutes of Lord Of the Rings (the boring parts of LOTR :D), which means you captured my attention and never let go until you let me off my leash to write this review. Splendid viewer-drawing work. Beautiful set-dressing too.

Now, as far as my 6th star award is concerned, I was a little skeptical at first after the few technicality issues (minus the sound sync bug, which was practically nothing), but I really enjoyed that and was just absolutely blown away by the world you created; however, when you spend so much time doing all the mods, you also need to consider the editing which I found to be a little bit loose unlike that of what I remembered in Episode 3. Episode 4 is definitely my equal favorite part alongside Episode 3. I'm really loving these "themes" that you're creating, and they really add that dimension to the series (like Episode 3 had a piratey sort of theme and this one had a cryo sort of theme) which makes it unique and immerse (as stated in my review for Episode 3).
I was definitely blown away by the special effects which I must commend EE for, and I was simply absorbed, so there's positively no reason why you don't deserve my 6th-star award, congratulations!

Once again you have lifted the bar for sci-fi films, and once again you have lifted the bar for yourself... Roll on episode 5!

I have to say that this series just keeps getting better and better - the pacing was breakneck, the acting was excellent, and the story really held me for the entire movie.

Great use of mods and music, and excellent camera work, but it's the story that really shines in this one. You really need to figure out a way to put these out on a weekly basis.

Fantastic sci-fi adventure series! Episode 4 continues the quality we have seen in previous parts and progresses the story to another level.

The first thing that really stands out in this movie is the way it looks. All of the fxs, mods, sets, costumes etc look amazing and give the movie a very unique feel. The music soundtrack was top-notch - atmospheric and blended seamlessly into the action giving the scenes a beautiful sense of depth and emotion.
Vo's were good for the most part. A few lines feel quite flat and others seemed more 'read' than acted but great overall.
Story / plot was as we have come to expect with this series. It's involved, well throughout and very well written.
My one complaint with the movie was some dodgy editing and feecam work in some scenes. Editing needed to be tighter in some of the conversations. Sometimes a static shot would have worked much better than a panning shot during some scenes, but these points are small when compared to all of the great plus points in this epic adventure.
A very well deserved 5 stars!

cheers

HIGH DEF review.
Just finished watching the HIGH DEF version. It was great! Love all the fine detail you've put into the scenes. Enjoyed the story wished I could have seen the enemies view during the attack on the outpost. Maybe some animated props or something would help... ;P
Great job, looking forward to the next one.

Another one of those wacko endings I see.

I think these are getting better and better. I wish you would show the robot more though, he rocks. :)

I enjoy your music choices as well.

Never been a long reviewer... this had it's moments without ever really capturing my imagination.

It has some good points but falls down at crucial points not helped by some of the musical chocies i have to say.

Not your fault on the whole but can't help feeling it could have been much much more.

This would have scored a four.

Excellent sets, costumes and special effects. Some good acting performances as well. There was a lack of tension in the film though - not helped by the overly languid music in scenes where the pace should have shifted dramatically upwards (the announcement of the arrival of the xenomorphs for example).

I liked the telling off scene and the scientist v captain scene - but the rest was severly lacking in character moments (barring the humorous beginning and ending). Too much military/techie speak - I didn't get much sense that the characters were in much danger. Maybe seeing what a xenomorph could do to someone would have helped, then seeing the characters have their cool professionalism gradually disintergrate under the pressure - that would have been good.

Good music, if sometimes inappropriate for some scenes, but failure to credit any of these excellent musicians up front either here or in the film has cost this movie any stars it could have been awarded.

andy_inc must have taken forever to think of what to say, as this movie just left me speechless.

A movie completely deserving of a five-star rating if I've ever seen one.

I think I have a new favorite in the Enigma series. Uber you prove time and time again why you are the master of sci fi. Solid VOs, engaging story, and expertly directed. Yep, all the ingredients for 5 stars.

And its back and better than ever, now where to begin.

The dialogue is one of the best parts of this episode, the one on one with Hero and the commander has to be my favourite. And the dialogue was really well VO'd, Professor Vemkit was brilliant, I instantly dispised him. My only negative point is that VO's tended to be of different volumes, which got frustrating.

Music and sound effects were well used and selected with most suiting the scenes they're used in and the sound effects really upped those battle scenes.

SFX have been polished up in this episode with the inclusion of some new overlays and some we've seen previously. And in addition the c-gi shot towards the end was superb. Your familiar style of free-cam is also plastered across this episode (and the series) giving it a very unique feel.

Now the story, which seems quite appropriate really since i've recently watched the whole Alien Quadrilogy. However the xenomorphs were unexpected, I never really knew the cause of the distress call until about mid way through, which is how it should be done, leaving the audience thinking.
I however have only one gripe with the story and that is there wasn't enough Belinda.

Looking forward to episode 5

Another great addition to the series. It's a bit longer than the earlier ones, but there's so much happening in this story that there really is no way to trim it and no need either - it's not boring for a second. I do think there could have been more emphasis on the seriousness of firing on the cruiser to prevent further infection, since that would be a hard call, but I guess including that would mean cutting some other important element of the story. The special effects and costuming seemed even stronger here than the previous episodes, so well done all round.

Honestly, how do you do it? Each episode seems like a pinacle in Sci-Fi achievement, and I think you can't improve it any more than you have. But each new episode pushes that envelope a little further. Truly outstanding work.

The King of Sci-fi delivers a powerful blow as the Enigma Series truly hots up. This is perhaps my favourite of the series which is no offense to previous installments. Infact Ubernewbie demonstrates a fine balance between consistency and improvement as the series progresses. This episode in particular cranks up the adrenaline ten fold giving the watcher an immense adrenalined rush!

Well Done yet again and ..

Enigma and certainly its a "puzzle" when reviewing, is it original - yes, does it use original mods - yes, musical score - yes, but the question for a successful film is does it gel...

first off is the music this indeed is a mixed bag, i know you have faithfully stuck with the musical show tune to open each episode, but its tackiness and simplicity gives the series a "b" movie feel before we even get going, which is unfair to the rest of the film, and undoes largely what the rest of the musical score does.

the voice acting stems from great to average and in the same way does the same as the musical score.

the dialogue is interesting and well thought out, but im left wondering "would rhinos still be around?" and words like "bugger" throw me well and truly out of the genre you're trying hard to create, and perhaps its the writers attempt to eestablish a "rogue" style character, but it make the audience laugh at the character rather than finding him whitty.

certainly the dialogue like "[play nice now!]" is something most sci fi films avoid as it gives it a real world aspect, which for sci fi isnt always advised.

the part with the 2 soldiers finding blood was very star trek, wrath of kaan, i was expecting leeches to be put into their ears. I may be overly sci fi, but that part i didnt find that original and maybe could have done differently?

from a technical viewpoint this has everything, overlays, custom costumes, props and they all help to create the world you intended.but as im constantly reminded mods do not make a film, and im inclined to agree and while this is solid as a film, i think for me it never rises above a solid enjoyable film.

The assault on that space crusier was gorgeous; excellent use of overlays there, absolutely magnificent! Anyone who gives this film less than 5 stars should be reprimanded.

This is by far the best episode yet. As the series goes on each episode recieves just a little more polish than the last. This one recieved a little bit extra I think. The story, vo's, editing and effects have come together beautifully, sound levels for the VO's were great. If only there weren't that last minute or so of desync, but we can't have it all on TMO I guess. There was just the right amount of action, comedy and drama that every sci-fi the series needs. Great work, looking forward to the next episode!
