This is the first film I ever watch from this Director Sparky1512. And I wasn??t disappointed.
Sin is a very Well made film with some great Talented Stars.
The Story of Sin, goes around Michael who had commentated a sin, and this sin didn??t leave him.
Sparky made this film every well, right from the beginning to the End. Not a single scene was out of place.
The Screenplay was well made one which I haven??t seen for a While. Actors timing, Set use, music all well prepare.
This film will defiantly reach no1.
Father Lucian Played by Josephkw was one of the Outstanding Performance in this film. The Character was very well made. His voice also suit the character great, this is one performance by Josephkw that will be remember for a while.
Michael Grayson played by Sparky1512 was also well perform, his voice fits in the character, but somewhere down the line, his performance was a little average performance, which could have been better. But on the whole thing, it was an excellent performance
Laura Taylor as Laurajsoffe wasn??t as great as I thought, She performance was Average to me, could have been better.
Sisch as Jenna Grayson, a big VO artist and a very small role. And as always she stand out in her performance.
She suit her character good.

WARNING!!! THE FOLLOWING REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS OR OBVIOUS HINTS!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Poor, poor Michael... Just the way I would've done it.
You captured the innocence of Michael beautifully. Adultery is a sin that happens all the time, and I guess Michael represents the people that actually do it, and as innocent as they are, even one time leads to consequences. Normally, one would see an adulterer as an antagonist, but in this film, I was conflicted between feeling sorry for him and thinking "serves you right you two timing prick!" But by the end, I really did feel sorry for him.
The story was phenomenal and I like the way it was self narrated, but as he was self narrating it, it took away any suspense and concern for him because we knew he's at home reminiscing on his sofa, but we still are concerned for him because of that old whacko, portrayed brilliantly by JosephKW. The dialogue and acting was outstanding, but one part kind of puzzled me. When Lucian killed Laura, Michael was just standing there watching Lucian strangle the life out of her. If it were someone I knew, especially a girl that was being attacked, I would fight for her, but rather Michael sat back, watched her die, said "oh no" and then attacked Lucian. I won't take anything away from that because it would've been hard to edit with TM. Other than that, everything seemed logical and the story was well told and the innocence of one who had only committed a minor crime and suffered the greatest consequence was portrayed well.
Overall a brilliant story that captured my attention and never let go, because questions were asked in the film that kept me enthralled and awaiting the answers to the end. Without the aura of mystery that you used, the film would've been a little too straight forward.
The use of someone we can trust and confide in as an antagonist also asks the question; who can we trust, if even a man with a close connection to God is untrustworthy (or in this case, bloody mental), just how secret are our confessions? Are we really cleaned of sin when we confess?
I also loved the ending too; it was my type of ending :)
The editing was a little choppy in places, and characters would move when another would talk, and some camera movements seemed a little out of place, but I understand that you had difficulties and glitches and bugs and all that annoying crap, so I'll let it slide a little, because overall it was well shot and the scenes were well-chosen (the TV in the shack looked like it was teetering off the edge of the table; even though I knew it couldn't fall, I thought it would slide off :D), although when directing a dialogue driven film, we pay attention to the characters emotions, and quick jitters and jumps often cause distraction, but again I understand that you encountered about a hundred thousand bugs.
Now, while this is easily a 5 star film, I am torn between 5 and 6 stars, as the editing was a bit of a let-down, but, that of course was no fault of your own, and a game's bug. It wasn't bad, but it was a little distracting.
But, since the story was captivating and intriguing, and such a great portrayal and well thought out, it outweighs the glitchy editing and is a hard-fought worthy winner of my 6-star award! Congrats!
Your Sins will always come back to haunt you?
Sparky1512 presents us with a twisted tale of a poor decision gone horribly bad. Josephkw gives an outstanding performance as a creepy priest bent on fire, brimstone, and atonement at all cost. The dialogue in this film is top notch and the voice actors did a superb job. The film is well scored to keep the suspense, drama, and action going.
Critique: A few areas which had me off kilter a bit - The continued interspersion of shots with Michael on the sofa during the entire movie. I thought the tale would be better suited unfolding rather than being narrated by Michael. More adaptation to screen from the script. Editing of some of the stock footage a bit more as well would have tightened up some of the shots.
A great thriller, drama, horror. A very good production which was well done featuring great voice acting, a solid storyline, and a good musical score.
Very good film you have there. It does a very good job of captivating the audiance & It is quite hard to accomplish that iwth out bullets being fired or cars flying through the air. I also thought the Plot was very original and has made me glad Im an atheist and not to even go into a confession box becuase it'll just be used against me. The VO's where also very crisp, the levels where all the same and there was emotion behind the voices. The Camering was also fantastic, very unique angles make old scenes look refereshing.
There are some minor flaws but nothing too drastic, I mean the camera sometimes jumps but thats not your fault.
Overall A fantastic movie which should definatly be up there in the top.
Yours Butch.
I liked this film very much, but there were a few problems that dragged down a star. For a thing, the narration was used so much it was a bit off-putting. I mean, I can tell what's happening, you needn't remind me off it every 2 seconds. Furthermore the dialouge dragged on a bit during the middle.
FILM ON!
Hello!
It's an interisting movie with a man in front of the consequences from his acts. His fall in hell is very hard. I think the character of this movie is the priest. Josephkw made a real good job, I like particulary when he explains the reason to Michael of his troubles. And the voice is really good for the face and the personnality of this character. All the cast make a good job. You play well you too, the narration was pleasant.
There are small erroros on the editing but in general you've made a good work.
Thank you for this moment of drama and suspens.
Brillant story and well executed dialog. There were a few things I didn't like such as the music near the introduction of the father. I was malplaced and disturbed the VO. The acting was great for the most time. Im looking forward to your next movie and have bookmarked your studio.
The best aspect of this film is its voice work, and the story those voice actors supported. A large congratulation must be passed on to you and your cast for this conquest, on the basis of such a lengthy film in TMO, and the quality of those voice over??s staying true through its entirety. This aspect was then backed up by the well written dialogue, and believable output and results of conversations between the characters.
The sound effects within the film, however, really took away from the most of the scenes of dialogue. For example; the characters grunts and groans through the talk with the Priest, atop the roof.
Impressive use of the free cam; but watch out for the effects of the sets that you should not want in the film. As an example, I will go back to the same scene; shots of the character would show, from their angle, the space of cream color that separates where the backdrop ends and the set starts. The editing was also edgy at moments, but as I have said in other reviews of your films, it is not enough of a distracting factor to deserve more then just a mention.
I do feel the story could have been presented better, but it was, overall, a well made film.
A great movie. I really can't say anything anyone else hasn't said. There was about a half a second of editing errors that made no difference what so ever. Overall this was fantastic. This is a Ninja Cronic Full Meal Movie for sure. Great job of writing a masterpiece.
Great movie. This was very well made and definitely had me wondering what was going to happen. I really liked the way the story was told by Michael from the couch, after the fact, up until the end. The narration was great, but sometimes the dialogue seemed a bit off. Kudos to all the voice actors, they all did a fantastic job. josephkw gave a very creepy voice over as the very creepy Father Lucian, which I really enjoyed.
One of the things I didn't like was the editing seemed a bit off at times. Mostly during the dialogue scenes, it seems like you could have cut and edited a little more. Also the constant shrieks and groans from the game got in the way of the dialogue and really distracted from the mood you did so much to set. Maybe turning off the sfx and adding in your own could have helped this.
All in all though, despite it's minor flaws, this is definitely a 5 star movie. Excellent work, sparky.
It is SO hard for me to do this but I feel that this deserves a STRONG 4 stars.
What was good:
Originality! Wow! never seen something like this before.
Story. very well thought out!
VA's. All were pretty good.
Freecam and overall editing was decent.
What was bad:
The overall feel of the movie. I felt it was slow. Could have been shorter.
Storytelling - started out good then twisted oddly. I don't know. I felt it could have been presented better.
Overall:
Honestly this was a great flick but I thought it could have been a bit stronger. Some of the voiceovers were drifty in thier volume, but the acting was great all around.
This will be mention on the Must See List. However, it won't be place in it. Sorry, but GREAT JOB!!! WONDERFUL FILM!!!
A great story with a very likeable main character (which is due to your wonderful vo work on the narration, you did just great!), a very creepy priest (Joseph gave a wonderful performance!),this movie reminds me once again why I'm not religious and wouldn't dream of going to a confession... ;)
I also liked the music very much!
On the downside, there were some clipping faults due to camera placing, and I would recommend to get the mumbling off for your next project - those sounds almost never really fit, and can be distracting! Overall, a little tighter editing would have helped to make the atmosphere even "thicker", but the story and dialogue are very, very good and I highly recommend this movie!
Such a good film for so long. The first 2/3 of it was very well written - as was the twist (nearly).
I took a sort of liking to Michael straight from the off, the softly-spoken chummy narration invites the viewer into his world. I thought he was a complete dickhead for cheating on his wife in the way that he did, though.
The plot with the priest using confession as a means of blackmail was hilarious! I liked that concept.
Well acted by Father Lucian and Michael.
The structure was ok (especially given the ending)- but all the narrative stuff in the middle of the film should have been removed, or maybe have one mid-point narration. Also - it's a good idea to use different mic settings, or speak closer to the mic, when doing a narration - to differentiate from in-scene dialogue. In one scene, I couldn't tell if it was narration or the character talking in the past, as the dialogue moved from one to the other without any difference in the sound.
Some early lines were drowned out by music, they seemed to be important to the setup as well.
Some free camera moves showed incomplete actors on screen. This is caused by having the camera too close to them. Better to move the camera back and zoom in using the field of view slider.
The ingame sound effects (mumbling for anger, screaming etc.) needed turned off, these regularly got in the way of the proper dialogue.
************* SPOILER WARNING, LOOK AWAY NOW **********************
In terms of the story - things went wrong in the basement. He sees the Priest killing someone with his bare hands, why doesn't he do anything? Especially as in the next shot, he's beating seven shades out of him in revenge.
After that, there wasn't much believability left in the story (especially when the Priest reappears, yet the police still thing he's dead - so he escaped from the police morgue then, without them knowing?. The very end of the film was not very good and seemed tacked on just to wrap things up. The character didn't resist arrest, so why was he shot? Yet another film where the director thinks that the only way to end a film is to make sure all the major characters are dead (with one exception)! Why not have him just marched away to the nick protesting his innocence? That would have been much better and more powerful as an ending.
************* SPOILERS END *********************
Good music, used in the right places. Just needed turned down under the dialogue in the early scenes.
I was thoroughly entertained for a good 15+ minutes of this film - some great ideas and writing. I just thought it lost its way towards the end.
Terrific, dialogue/character driven film that shows how a little error in judgment can snowball into a nightmare of epic proportions.
Some excellent camera work, and mostly-solid editing - the trick with films that are mostly dialogue based is to shoot heavy coverage of the conversation scenes, at different levels (master, long, medium, and close) and mix it up so you don't end up with jerky matches when the conversation goes beyond the length of the scene itself.
The voice cast was uniformly excellent, and put a lot of life into their performances. For future films, I'd suggest completely turning off the in-game sound effects - the character sound effects (laughs, etc.) are almost always inappropriate for the mood you're trying to achieve, and though it's a bit more work to manually add sounds, the final result is always superior.
Overall a very strong film - well written, well acted, and well filmed. I'll be waiting for your next one - please PM me when it's available.
Interesting idea for a movie;
Pros - It was well edited, the voice over quality was good and it looked like you put a lot of time and effort into writing the story.
Cons - The dialogue dragged out stupidly in some places, now I have a good attention span but this really was pushing it to the limit in some places. It wasn't so much that it was bad acting or bad dialogue, it was just repetative, by the end of the cellar scene for instance he had said the same thing at least four time. I understand building suspense and everything, but when you do build suspense you run the risk of overdoing it, this was one such time. It was the same in a number of other places throughout the movie, it could probably have been compressed into a 17/18 minute movie which would have had more of a grit feeling to it and held the attention a lot better.
That isn't to say the movie was bad, far from it, but at the same time when making a long movie you have to remember that your viewer isn't going to want to watch a movie that appears to be fleshed out by needless dialogue.
Aside from that, and most crucially in my opinion, you left "mummbling" on, which nearly made me cry, 20 minutes of generic "wahs" and "mummble mummble mummble mummble" ... which was a shame because you were building up good suspense and tension in places (like when he finds Jenna's body) but the shocked exlamation was so out of touch with the voice and the dialogue that it ruined the moment.
Other than that, twas a very good movie, great story, good voice acting, just a few things that let it down. Would probably just sneak into the great catagory on the strength of the story and the characters! Nice work!
A twisted tale of woe that is creative and interesting. I loved the narrated style presented here. It adds a nice flair to the story. I did find this film could have used the editor's knife a bit more. Some of the basement scenes, I believe, would have been enhanced if shortened. Why Micheal didn't have a go at the Priest earlier in the story and make an escape made me wonder. Also, I thought some of the lines in the basement fell flat and were far less emotional than what might be expected from someone or two trapped in a cellar. The cellar was a wonderful place in the film to bring out some real fear in the trapped characters but I didn't feel that the character were indeed worried in the slightest. My greatest fondness for this movie, however, is the story itself. It is a grand tale and although the ending does infact seem a proper fit, I can't help but think that after all the brainstorming that went into this film why was there a final knotted twist at the end.
Still, all-in-all A WONDERFUL MOVIE SURE TO DELIGHT VIEWERS!!!
A piece of grown up cinema is always a welcome addition for me. I enjoy dialogue driven films and this was played wonderfully by the entire cast. I, personally, like a narration and enjoyed the change in mood and tempo.
My only criticisms would be the in game SFX: never appropriate. And some of the music seemed out of mood with the piece.
Overall, a fine film excellently written and performed.
A very good story, brought to life with a great voice cast and an amazingly well fitting musical score. Although predominantly a Horror, I also spotted a small amount of Film-Noir in there with Michael's narration and the general "deciding between morals" twist. Only thing I didn't like about it was the ending, which I felt was WAY too abrupt for such a long build-up, but that's just me. Otherwise, this was a wonderful film. You are a great director, no doubt. This is sort of just a random suggestion: I think you should try your hand at making a Film-Noir sometime, I think you'd do great at it as well.
Very good! Interesting story. A great moral-driven plot. I didn't think I would like a movie this long but the length didn't bother me. Awesome camera work, editing, VO, music, etc.
The story line made me uncomfortable (negative religous theme) but this was a good movie. Congratulations to everyone involved.
No longer does confession obsolve you of sin! Watch your back, priests are taking matters into their own hands!
This was an example of some truly impressive writing. Thoroughly thought through, the dialogue really drove this film and was brought to life by some incredible voice acting.
A stunning musical score kept the atmosphere just right as the twisting tale unfolded with ease through the great use of freecam and editing.
Although a little jumpy at times, this movie flowed well and is a must see for lovers of drama/horror films.
(Possible Spoiler!)
I loved that the villain of this movie is someone you'd expect to be the most trustworthy of all!
Congrats on this success Sparky.
Your Sins will always come back to haunt you?
Sparky1512 presents us with a twisted tale of a poor decision gone horribly bad. Josephkw gives an outstanding performance as a creepy priest bent on fire, brimstone, and atonement at all cost. The dialogue in this film is top notch and the voice actors did a superb job. The film is well scored to keep the suspense, drama, and action going.
Critique: A few areas which had me off kilter a bit - The continued interspersion of shots with Michael on the sofa during the entire movie. I thought the tale would be better suited unfolding rather than being narrated by Michael. More adaptation to screen from the script. Editing of some of the stock footage a bit more as well would have tightened up some of the shots.
A great thriller, drama, horror. A very good production which was well done featuring great voice acting, a solid storyline, and a good musical score.
Good story, great VO actors, great costume design and overlays, good selection of music and really nice descriptive dialogs...
Could have used more eerie sound effects to give it a darker feel. I also felt some scenes were missing something, maybe more music..
Overall a very entertain film with a good story and VO cast...
Fine job for your first film featuring other VA's (and a good cast if I say so myself). The story was well-presented in regards to camerawork, scene selection, and editing. I did see some clipping (as the camera passes through the back of one of the actresses), and that is something to be mindful of. I also found the first-person narration throughout to be unnecessary; it made it seem like being read to from a book--the same content could've been portrayed by dialogue between the characters. A narration reminds the viewer that it is a tale being told, instead of being pulled into and being involved in the unfolding drama. The music use was absolutely splendid though! I hope you found some of this long review helpful for your future productions.
What a great movie. The cast was amazing, the music was perfect. I did find the in game actor noises a little distracting. The direction was great and a well written script. Great Job
This is the definition of a "dialouge driven" film. It was technically sound; editing (though it was choppy at times), writing, VO's, and music selection. Your use of free-cam was spot on as well.
However, i found that while it is a dialouge drive film, there wasn't enough action to back it up, meaning most of the time people were standing around talking. I also feel that this story could have been told in a shorter amount of time.
In the end, you definitely have a talent for combining the elements of this program with your writing. Which played out for an overall enjoyable film.
Looking forward to your future projects.
A FREDTHEDUCK REVIEW
Plot: 12/15 - A good plot. Slightly unbelievable (not the evil priest, I totally bought that), but good. I was surprised at the priest surviving, but thats just me.
Suspense: 7/10 - Not the most suspenseful plot, but there were moments where I was on the edge of my seat, waiting for something to happen.
Scary Rating: 7/10 - I was genuinely worried by that priest. He really was a psycho.
VOs: 14/15 - very good VOs. There were a few points where I felt that screms were needed, or a laugh (at one point), but other than that, good.
Custom content: 9/15 - I saw the blood puddle. I saw the backdrops and/or overlays. But that was pretty much all the custom stuff I spotted. It all looked as if I had seen it before.
Editing: 13/15 - pretty good editing, although a few of the camera angles could have been changed slightly, and one or two scnes cold have been trimmed a little. But otherwise, good editing.
Music/sfx: 9/10 - awesome music, but I felt that at times it didn't really fit with what was happening. There were also parts that were a little quiet. . . and maybe could have had some music in them.
The wow factor: 8/10 - clearly a lot of hard work has gone into this, and it mostly shows. There are a few things I have mentioned above to improve on, but that is almost all that could have been done to improve this.
TOTAL: 79% - 4 star
I´ll make this a bit shorter than normal:
excellent story, AMAZING Vo espeacially by yourself, good music only 1-2 cam mistakes... but not enough to give you less than the well deserved 5 stars ;)
great work!
Very good film you have there. It does a very good job of captivating the audiance & It is quite hard to accomplish that iwth out bullets being fired or cars flying through the air. I also thought the Plot was very original and has made me glad Im an atheist and not to even go into a confession box becuase it'll just be used against me. The VO's where also very crisp, the levels where all the same and there was emotion behind the voices. The Camering was also fantastic, very unique angles make old scenes look refereshing.
There are some minor flaws but nothing too drastic, I mean the camera sometimes jumps but thats not your fault.
Overall A fantastic movie which should definatly be up there in the top.
Yours Butch.
