Very imaginative and engrossing from the start, I thought you managed to introduce the characters well and set the foundations for any future installments. I think you can use them to focus on character development as there are still alot to be discovered. The overlays were imaginative and fresh and brought a new level to this production. Overall I thought it was a good flick that has promise to get even better with a sequel... well done but for now..

Woah! I'll be looking forward to part 2! Normally, I'd take a point or so off for character development, but since this is the first part of what seems to be a series, I can onl expect that you'll have more of that in part 2. The snow effects were really cool, good job there. I did think that the colored overlays were odd, but it was "different". They were appropriately used, for the most part, but sometimes they made a sequence seem a bit akward. The vo's were decent, and the story was interesting, but I'd like to see a little more development in that department. ;)
You have a neat story, be sure to run with it, and take it for all its worth! :)
I hope you found some of this long review useful! It's great to see another medieval movie on TMO!

I really liked the overalays, you used them perfectly to set a scene's mood. For example the snow scenes were great!! You had the snow overlay working and the snow sets, it was fabulous!! The different colored overlays were stunning too, they also contributed to the mood of certain sets and scenes. I really liked this role, and hope to rejoin this cast in pert deuce!! :) You had a small sound sync problem which, I think, caught up with itself in the end.

Good primise and story. Great mods and character development... but the word "[not-so-nice-word!]"... i don't think it was used like that back then. the main thing that dragged this movie down was the God awful voice acting. But i wanted this to be an amazing movie however this was mediocore at best.

It was an average movie overall. It had a good sense of fantasy (except for the curse words that weren't around back then)and good use of mods. It lacked however good acting. The voices sounded like they were reading off a script for the first time. The lines were cheesey. And the title "Chivalry" is a religious term. The Tagline was awful (Warrior of Death? Come on!).

The GOOD: A great VA cast with a story that left off with a lot of room for sequels. Plus, the character development was nicely done.

The BAD: Curse language like that didn't exist back then. It just didn't. For me, it totally ruined any sense of a medieval feel about it. Using the same fight scene over was also pretty odd. And finally, like others have said, I too felt that this film was rushed.

3.5, rounded up.

Ok the story isn´t very innovativ... just the usual medieval tale. The music doesn´t fit in the fight scenes, the language really doesn´t fit that typ of movie and I couldn´t read most of the green overlays.
The only reasons why you get 3 stars is because the visual is good and the voice actors... are ok, I guess.

I did say honest review so here you are.

The Bad:
The diologe was awakard for this type of moovie, in future I recommend you get some one to proof read your script, I usally get people to proof read. Also the colored overlays where overused

The Good: I can see how much effort you put into this, and the mods bring the story to life. Also the plot was good but it was just the VO's let it down.

Overall: Good movie with alot of effort.

Nice one Plat. Mods were good - some of the colour filters were a bit much though. Story was ok, lacking a bit in parts but ticked along nicely overall. Nice characters created but could have been developed a little more.

now a few things wrong with this that gave you a 2 star review.
1. the VOs where not good at all. (I can say that...why...host of VO radio here)
2. Story was short and uninteresting.
3. action was dull due to the face you played the same fight scene 3 times.

but the reasons its not a 1 star i for the following.
1. great mods
2. good music

in the furutre rember when you make a movie that its not just the effects its the story and the actors.

WOW! Very good. Great story and a great look to it. LOVE the snow! Super VO work by everyone involved!

My critique would be to edit the sword fights because it gets repetitive after the third one. Also the cursing seemed out of place for the period of time.

Overall: Excellent movie. Please let me know when part-2 comes out! Continued success.

Could you please rate my newest movie: Assassination Incorporated-3. Thanks.

This would have been better done as a modern day drug empire movie, with uzis instead of swords. As others have said the harsh dialogue comes off like Tarantino. But I didn't detract for that. Overall, I liked it, except a lot of the VO delivery was a bit stilted. Best lines were delivered by your lead actor. "The King betrayed me, that [be polite!]..." Lines like that were great. and "I'll help, just because we're friends." I liked the sets, it gave it a sort of renaissance Italian feel. It seems to me that this was a style piece, on a set-piece tableau of personal relevance, more than a medieval historical piece. I liked the plot, even though sparse. I wanted initially to rate it 3 stars, call it 3.75, rounded to 4. Not a 5 for me, as it did seem rushed, and some things like the blood overlay, green fog, etc. were just jarring.

- ubernewbie

The script and dialogue seemed rushed and un-real, as in fake. The characters seemed very cardboard and 2 dimentional with no real stand out character. The final problem for me was the pacing, it felt rushed. This is a series, so take your time. Music seemed in appropiated, but that could just be artistic difference. Well, good luck, it upwards from here.

Ok Plat, you want a review so here you are.
First of all, I must say that the language was bizzare and didn't fit with the theme at all. If you wanted a modernized medieval film, you could've added other elements like guns and such to indicate it, but there wasn't, so I assumed you were aiming for the real medieval/fantasy. The language just didn't fit it at all, especially the excessive swearing. The dialogue on the most part was carried out well by most of the actors, but some sounded a little bored, but overall a pretty good job (I blame it on the poor dialogue).

The opening title overlays blended in with the background in a negative way... They were too small, and also a poor color choice. I don't know what program you're using, but it's always good to make them a reasonable size and use two colors that stand out (don't use thin fonts). The snow overlay by Verguit was ambitious and carried out its purpose, but was only passable. Some of the flashback colored overlays didn't work (the bright red especially).

The characters just seemed like cardboard, along with the story. The story was a little too linear and straight forward for a film of this apparent scale, and could do with a bit of work.

I noticed you said it took you 2 days to make this, and I must say that it did look like that. If you really want a big budget, blockbuster film, you need to invest time and not rush it, because this felt a bit rushed; from the scripting, to editing. Time and effort shows in a film, and I don't feel right giving a 2-day, rushed production any higher than 3-stars, especially if it was supposed to be a sweeping epic. If you want to evolve this series, try not sending out last minute PM's and demand the VO's in a rush; you need to invest time into every aspect of the film. Take time, consult people and ask them for opinions, and plan carefully.
You have the potential, but you just need to unleash it and focus on developing a story instead of a hack and slash fest.
Thus far 3 stars, but if you spend a little more time and fix the things mentioned, then this series could go places.
I'm waiting :)

Teh Poptart Kid's Review Corner

Ah, a valiant effort on making a medieval film, Plat. But, the modern day language in this film ruined it for me a little bit.

The music you used was a good choice, and the VA's did a good job as they were easy to hear. I loved all the excitement, death, and battles that were going on.

Overall, it was a good flick. If there's a number two, please feel free to send me a Pm. :)

4 stars!

Film on!

Not a bad movie.
Especially for an intro.
The only problem was i thought the plot and movie was rushed, and the dialogue didnt really seem medieval-ish...

Other than that, the plot was good, the music was fitting, and it had a bunch of cool custom content.
Nice movie, cant wait for the next part...

This looks like an interesting start to a series. Overall, it seemed very fast, and almost played like a "previously on Chivalry..." type of thing, where only the important snippets are played to give you enough information to get into a later episode. The opening VO's seemed a little dead, but things picked up a bit after that. Try to work with the pacing to make things flow a bit better. I found the use of language in this film distracting. It felt out of place, and unnecessary. I've seen fantasy/midieval movies that use this type of language, and liked them, but it just didn't work for me here. Possibly because of the stinted nature of the film/dialogue in general, and lack of hightened emotion to the point of that it would warrant these little additions.

The overlays were a good attempt, but the opening credits tended to get lost, especially the green text against the green mist. I've heard that you need to make letters and other elements almost too big in order for them to play well in an online quality export, this is something you could maybe experiment with for future episodes.

I thought that for a film that was doing it's best to skip past everything but the few little meaty sections of the plot, the "Jason in battle" scene wasn't necessary. He says he has experience in killing and we'd already seen the sword fight several times, and unless there is some other way to film it, it seemed a bit too much time spent on lackluster sword fights, when there could have been more time spent on plot.

The dialogue could use some touch up. It seemed like a lot of exposition, rather than people talking to eachother the way they talk to eachother. Things just seemed too on the nose like saying "I need your help" followed by "Ok, I will help you" (and I know there was a fight scene in between) but it doesn't come off as authentic. There needs to be more motivation to the characters. Why will he help, is there a hesistance to his offering of assistance, and if so why, try and put these types of elements into the story and dialogue and you'll find you have a much richer story. Things seem to play as more of an outline of a story without them. I also found the use of subtitles to depict what the main character was thinking and his realizations (especially after having part of spelled out that if he realizes he's been set up, in the scene immediately preceding) to be distacting. Try and work it into a scene so that it doesn't have to be so expository. The VO files were acceptable for the most part, but there were a few that had an above normal amount of background noise. I think it's worth it to try and fix those, if it's possible. I know some files are just too bad to remove all the hisses and buzz sounds.

That said, I did enjoy it for what it was, and I'd like to see the continuation of the story. In case you're wondering about the 3, I try to judge movies on a tougher scale than most. 3 is average, and a film can go either up or down from there depending on how each of it's elements play individually, and as a whole. I thought that the film had potential, but was weighted down by several factors noted above. With a little work and attention to some details like dialogue and pacing, this should be a great series.

Didn't like all the profanity but the movies was a good one.

This was a decent movie.
The story was solid. It was the part of the film I liked most. You did well using the mods. There's alot of work that could still be done to this in my opinion.
Overall the editing was ok, but I urge you not to be affraid to use the free cam mode more and cut seems up in post production aswell. TM is limited in what can be done with sword fights so it's essential to use many different angles and cut scenes up in a way to quicken the pace the fights and make them seem fresher and different from all the others.
The dialogue seemed forced. It wasn't all that natural to me. Some of the VA's were throwing out the Fbomb, which doesn't bother me, except that they overemphisized the word when used in sentences and made their dialogue seem so unreal. The best advice i can give here is when you're writing your dialogue think about how different people talk. When you've got something down read it outloud and see if it flows smoothly from your mouth.
Overall I thought it was a solid story, but could have used some work in the technical areas.

A nice effort, that was visually pleasing, but not really up to snuff for the ears.
Like I stated, the visuals were nicely done, well chosen costumes, some decent set dressing, and the overlays added some depth to the fantasy world where the film was taking place.
On the other hand, there were patches of dialogue that were laughable and didn't fit with the medieval theme at all. For instance, I don't believe any modern day curse words had even been uttered in the Middle Ages. The VOs were a hit or miss, Pookashells did a very good job as well as a few others, but some just kind of dragged it down a notch.
Overall, a medieval film that doesn't waste 5 minutes of your life, but doesn't leave you full of wisdom and inspiration. I'm sure if the series continues that it will be whole heartedly enjoyable.

This film started weak and just simmered. The sudden opening offered no character intro or foundation. I, as a viewer, had to pick up on who these guys were as well as what was happening. As this movie rolled the overlays and sets did offer a very magical effect but jumped climate to climate without warning or reason. The swearing was not needed. In fact finding a better way to express emotion might of enhanced the overall presentation. Understand, I don't mind swearing at all but it just really didn't fit. I'm surprised you didn't see that. Using the knife fight three times was overkill. I would have liked to have seen it presented in different ways via camera angles. Mostly it was just the same. I'm not sure where or how the indian fit in? Poor choice of costumes perhaps. All-in-all it wasn't a bad film. "Chivalry" does offer a story but it is not about "Chivalry" It is instead about Kill, Kill, Kill, without solid reason and is equal to about third or forth level AD&D kit. I found this film a fun watch but there must be more to this adventure if this series is to survive.
