One of the best actions films on TMO is also one of the most brutal films I've ever seen grace this site. There is good and bad to be had with the film, but overall, Bloodshot left me with an awesome feeling. Lets get the bad over and done with!

THE BAD:
While the editing in the film was brilliant at times, there were some scenes that needed to be cut up. For example, the scene near the beginning in the office. There were two people talking in the scene, but there was no dialogue for about 4 seconds. I think you should have started the scene when they began talking because they both were motioning as if conversing. Also, the introduction was a little shaky in editing, but not too bad. Most of the freecam was just as brilliant, but some shots and pans didn't work. When the man was killed by the chainsaw, the camera panned up through the trees. It clipped twice which isn't good. Yes, you are aware at how picky I'm being. I am just saying all the stuff I noticed, so don't take this personally! :) Most of the VO's were great with good emotion and tone, while others seemed to be different. I think there was one scene where the main character was talking in the car and it was raining. I couldn't really understand a word he was saying. Also, if my computer didn't glitch, the first scene with Chief walker on the news had an audio glitch. I didn't hear the words until the end. Apart from those minute quibbles about sound, it was all good.

THE GOOD:
This will definitely be a substantially larger section than the bad because there were so many great things in the film. First of all, the overlays were magnificent. I think this is one of the best examples of title overlays on the site. The opening credits were downright awesome. The spinning lionhead label was really cool and so were the electrified voice artists names.
As for story, this was really cool. A kid who was abused by his father sexually vows to kill pedofiles and rapists! Awesome! They had it coming in my opinion. :) Actually, this story somewhat reminds me of my An Eye for An Eye series, at least in the beginning. About how serial killers were being killed and stuff. Anyway, back to the story. I think it all worked really well together. The choice of scenes was really great and helped push the film along. I really liked how it was actually a plausible storyline unlike so many other films on TMO. It was really great to see the cop working together with bloodshot to take down the bad guy. Really great stuff in the story category.
As far as VO's are concerned, everyone did a fantastic job. Voiced with emotion (most of the time) the VA's really deserve credit for the fantastic performances. I gotta give it to Kirinriotcrash because he really made the main character come alive at least for me!
Originality plays an important role for me when critiqueing films, and this had plenty of it. I guess it basically was a simple premise, but just everything that went on made this film very unique.
Sound FX were also wonderful. Loved all the cool screams and huge bass gun shots. They really added to the whole tone of the film. The blood splats and the cutting... whew! Awesome stuff!
Freecam and editing is really where the film shines. Your freecam was just amazing in places!!! For example, I really liked the scene where someone was looking through some files for something and the camera was in the file cabinet! GENIUS!!! And the camera didn't even clip at all. That's director's finesse right there. I also really liked the scene in the elevator where you had the grainy camera. Really cool. Also, there was one scene where the camera was tilting upward to a light and then a man came down really close. Great choices of freecam my friend. Also, the whole shed sequence where the camera went back and forth was great. Good prop placement in that scene as well. The editing was great as well.
Fluidity. This is what I really liked in the film. It flowed very well from scene to scene. The story really helped this too. I really liked the whole sequence when the police chief forgot his gun and he had to go back. It was great how you built the tension going back and forth until he comes in and BAM! kicks his ass!
The brutality and badassness (?) LOL. This is where the film shined as well. Another director like myself is pushing TMO to its limits! The language was extremely rough at times which was wayyy cool man. I think this film has the only c-word I've heard on TMO. LOL. Apart from the language, the violence was downright sick. I guess, for some reason, I thought the most brutal scene was when the main bad guy was punching that girl's face in and her face was all messed up! Then he stabs her in the chest! CRAZY!!! I found the whole film to be really badass as well. Seeing those dirty people getting cut up and shot is freakin' awesome. Again, this is one of the most brutal films of TMO in my opinion. Plus the decapitated head was really tite, as well as the pole through the face in the beginning. Overlays= amazing.
MODS. Another area that gleamed with greatness! The mods were the iceing on the cake so to speak. It added to the brutality of the film... AMAZING mods and blood. Those mods were so awesome, dark and realistic looking, I almost shat my pants! Magnificent work here man, great.

Overall, Bloodshot is one of the best action films to ever grace TMO. From badass to brutality to blood, Bloodshot has everything that makes a great action film. The story flows perfectly along with freecam. Despite some VO issues where the levels were too low, the VA's did an exceptional job. The editing was near flawless, except for some scenes with minute technical overlooks.
The mods, the action, the overlays, the story, and most of all the brutality, are all the reasons why I enjoyed this so much. I'll be on the look-out for more of your films in the future man. You're a twisted director, that's whats so great about you. Looking forward to talking with you. See ya.

AMAZING FILM.

Wow, where do I start?
That was absolutely incredible, the special effects were kick ass and you did a great job with them. I thought they really added that extra element to give the film a more sinister and dark look. The free-cam was brilliant and was added seamlessly, the story was incredible; I invite you to watch a film called Chopper if you're into this sort of thing, because the story reminded me a lot of that (It's an Aussie film :D)
The music and sound effects really took us to another world, they were great, as well as the voice acting; you had an all-star cast and you utilized them well. The cast were spot on.

Now, while this is quite easily a five star film, it just escaped my 6th star award for the following reasons.
First of all, the VO volume levels were all over the place, sometimes it was hard to hear, sometimes it was too loud. I recommend a program called The Levelator to fix this problem up. Some lines were hard to hear and I had to go back to hear them again.
Another thing had to be the editing; it was great and the scenes were spot on, but to get my 6th star, it has to be seamless (for the most part). I know freedom of placement is difficult, but if you use the right techniques you can avoid it. There were many instances where the characters "jumped", such as the officer who was standing at the window and then instantly sitting down. It felt a little rough to me, but overall it was really well done.

Overall, I really enjoyed every moment of that film, it was incredible. What a way to come out of retirement!

I have seen this movie several times with scoring it and it is good to see the final completed version. There are a few sound glitches, but for a 20 minute movie the sound came out very god for the most part. The thing that impressed me most with watching this film is that it captivates you for the entire movie. The time goes by and you are surprised that 19 minutes passed.

Great use of free cam to create unique shots throughout the entire movie. A very good job by the voice actors. You created a dark, sinister world full of corruption, evil, and deception, but even the darkest of characters can prove to be "good" in their own way.

Well done.

How to start a film correctly? The c-word.
Yup, a film that starts with that great swear word is certainly a fine example of the darkness this story plunges in to.

Starting off in a rather disturbing manner, the film then gets slightly lighter as it goes from horror to film noir as the grown up victim killer fills us in to his life, and we see his plotting.

Then from film noir we jump in to a thriller with bodies starting to pile up, first that unfortunate swat officer with a magnificent singing voice, and then the rest.

Amazing effects help show what has sadly never been seen enough on TMO, the deaths all look amazing, and the style of the freecam and clever camera positioning with the overlays made really add an effect.

Lack of depth to some characters is only due to pacing, and it still works with that out, though a director's cut someday wouldn't go amiss.

The voice overs for the most part are great, some moments where the music is a little too loud, especially the final moments, but the simplistic nature of the story and the examples of the murders at the start help key us all in once this little problem hits.

Props definately have to go out to Roger and Riott, Riott was fantastic, and made both roles her own, it wasn't until the credits i realised they were both her, and Roger, well, Our Roger is always at his best when he's being sinister to the point of disturbing, yet if he watches this film, the poor guy might yak a little.

It's a gripping, twisting, twisted thriller that's mature in it's content and telling of the story, never patronises the viewer, and hopefully will go far on TMO, and for that, Butch, I salute you, and welcome back, to fine form!

(ZOMG Raet miy movize!!!!!!!)

Highly Provocative and Thrilling, this non-stop action phenomenon blasts onto TMO screens with a charged opening. This was really thought out well and your use of sets and mods for the opening sequence was very good. It set the mood, a sort of unorganised un-sophisticated look of the inhabitants within the room, you could say a 'common' feel to it. This really drew me in with the first few words and I was hooked after the first minute or two. The killings were first rate brutality with some effective use of modding for gore. I would have liked to hear more sustained sound effects however as they at times seemed short and apart. There were also some sound issues with Voices with the Police Officer's lines being cut until the final few seconds of the line meaning some of the dialogue was lost. This was apparent in the News interview of the Police officer. Despite a few bugs here and there it was a satisfying Action flick with a pretty straight forward yet entertaining story that kept me interested throughout.

Roger's take on a rapeist is very disturbing hahaha! I was laughing but I was very chilled with his performance. Very very Disturbing and Demonic! Although I knew he had it in him!

All in all, I'm giving you 5 stars for effort, execution and style. You do what you do best and you should keep it up!, but for now..

Nuke Well in the Blood Shot!

Absolutely fantastic, this movie is brilliant in every sense of the word. It is very graphic I must say but it is pulled of with such style. Butchered, this movie really is special and perhaps the best movie I have seen on TMO. It is one of the few movies that has engaged my full attention from start to finish. This movie was perfect with the exception of a couple of minor glitches. Some great voice acting talent was also displayed. I have my full belief that with a great story you could produce the greatest classic on TMO, Matt Jackson

The most bloodiest, goriest (if thats a word), and most awesome movie I have ever seen! The violent scenes were so well edited. I mostly like the scene where he shot the man, he fell off the roof, and SPLAT! right on the floor. This movie was amazingly good. I bookmarked ot as soon as it was over. A definite 5 STARS!!! Awesome!

A FREDTHEDUCK REVIEW

Plot: 18/20 - although at times the plot felt like it had been made that way just to get more violence in it, it was a very well thought out plot, and had no obvious errors.

Originality: 4/5 - I've seen movies about killing sprees, and movies where they frame people for killing sprees, but not on TMO. Great stuff.

Predictability: 11/15 - I had no idea that it would end the way it did, but there were points when I could have said exactly what would happen next, and been right.

VOs: 12/15 - although a few lines were a little hard to hear, overall they were very impressive.

Custom content: 10/10 - Butch = overlays god. And a lot of those makeups were very well done too.

Editing: 14/15 - very well edited. Say no more.

Music/sfx: 9/10 - some brilliant music used there, GreenGlades did a terrific job with it.

The "wow" factor: 9/10 - Awesome. SImply Awesome.

TOTAL: 87% - 5 star

That was awsome!! First of all i must congratulate you on your use of mods, props and retextures - i barely recognised a scene from the game!

The plot was very well concieved and drew the audience into Bloodshot's world. Pacing was set just right and i was left wanting to know what happened to Bloodshot next.

Vo's and music were just right and throughout the movie gave it a sense of style and professionalism rarely seen on TMO.

Camera work again was beautifully done, giving old actions a new look and adding a sense of drama and involvment to the film.

5 stars for a great movie maker and story teller

cheers

Full of what I like! Blood, action and drama. I actually felt for bloodshot. You actually get emotionally involved!

It's weird how a simple computer program can create such a masterpiece. Bloodshot also proves that voice acting can work when done right. What a feat.

Your's sincerely, Rated18

P.S. Love the blood effects.

A terrific movie filled with eye candy sets and solid mood setting music. The idea behind this film is also an interesting one with well acted voice stars and this film is not short gore for those who must have blood. The story, however, has some holes that caused me to loose interest. Maybe it's just me. Examples without giving too much away - The officer just plays into our star's will and command after rescue. Police chief's part well acted but not well explained as is the case with the group that somehow profits from these evil deeds and... as you can see... I just got lost. Little bit of understanding tossed to this viewer would have allowed me a greater enjoyment. Now that's not to downplay this film at all. That's just my opinion. This film offers a great deal and I have no doubt it deserves some great attention. Still, for me, a better explained and more detailed storyline could have brought me to my feet cheering.

I don't mean to be a jerk, but I am being honest.. I do not "dig" this movie. I literally had to fight to get through it... stop and come back the next day to watch it...

I'm not just trying to find ways to "slat" your movie, I generally didn't like it. A lot of the VOs were a tad out of sync.. Some of the VOs were great, others were of terrible quality.

Your overlays and backdrops were all well and good... but what was the point? The plot was thinner than a tissue. I just didn't understand why you needed 20 minutes to fill it up. Why not just make a tech demo? It would be much faster :-)

On the note of backdrops, when filming and editing your "rape" scene, how could you have missed the pleasant bright blue sky backdrop, in the middle of a dark, rainy alleyway? Yeah... watch out for that.

I must admit, the music did it for me. I bow to you Greenglades, excellent score :-)

Although I half-knew what to expect, I really am not impressed with this, and that is my true honest opinion. Butch, you can definitely do better.

Ok, i'll admit that I don't mind really sick gore in films if there is a point to it, like a good story, but I didn't really see why the film had to be as gory as it was. There were a lot of parts that were really disturbing and very over-the-top. The story was quite confusing. Didn't really understand it.
The voice-actors were pretty good, it was a tad distracting that the vo's were out of synch in some parts. I'll also be honest with you that I didn't finish watching the film. Reason being I couldn't stand watching really brutal scenes of violence that had no point to it and it didn't have a good story to it either. If it had a good story to it, i wouldn't of really minded the violence. However, as violent as it was, no matter how good the story could of been [i don't know as i only watched a bit more than half of the film]
I still have to say that the violence was really sick and way too much. I know the film is dark and all, but you must have a pretty sick mind by making this!
It was a bit boring in places and then out of no-where, really gross violence that wasn't needed would just pop up. It made the film incredibly cringe-worthy to watch and I was looking away at some-points as I didn't see the point to it. Now, I know you did Warn the audience that this film would be brutal, but i don't really understand why it had to be as brutal as it was. Having said that, if there was a point to the violence, i wouldn't of minded it and probably might of found it quite amusing.
I'll give you an example of a real life film that has a lot of sick violence in it, but does have a point to it. The film is Kill Bill. It is a very violent film, however it does have a very good story and I do find the violence in it very amusing as it so un-realistic. Also, on another side, it's artistic and interesting. This film was neither of the last two positive things I just mentioned. Sorry, but it didn't really work for me I have to say.
There were a few good moments in it, but it was quite dissapointing. I was expecting a better film, i know you did warn us of the brutal violence in it, but i think if you had taken away most of the sick gore and had only one really sick part in the film I would of enjoyed it a lot more. Especially if there had been a good story too.
It's ok to have a lot of something if there is a point to it. Which in this film, is violence, but it doesn't have a meaning to it. On the plus-side I did find the film to be pretty good in the terms of the sweet music and technically, it was incredible. Like the opening, that was very clever and I'll admit i've never seen as complicated in a TMO film as I did in that opening.
The opening was very impressive and really started up the film well.
Despite that I found the film pretty average. It did have it's good parts and it's bad parts.
It didn't really appeal to me. I still think that the violent side to it with maybe a good story wouldn't of worked anyway. That's just my opinion.
Overall: 6/10
An average film. Quite a dissapointment.
It is... I guess a film worth watching as it's interesting to see what will unfold, but it isn't really that much impressive to me. It was too over-the-top with the violence. I know we can sort of expect that from you as your last film was very disturbing. Alas, i know some people loved the brutal violence in this film as they can understand the story a lot more than me, but i don't see the film that way unfortunately.
The only few positive things I can say is that you put a good effort into it, the costumes were amazing, the score was spot on and out-standing. The vo's were pretty darn good, but that's all it did for me considering the good things in the film. In quite a few areas you did an incredible job on this film, but the other things, like the story and the really sick violence which had no point to it really put the film down and sort of destroyed the film for me.

Free-cam use/overlay use 5/5- Very very good used of free cam and overlay, I was really impressed. I saw some minor flaw with the freecam, but it was insignifiant.

Story/character 5/5- The character are well develloped, the story is ok even if the "I forgot my gun at the ofice" is a little trick for your scenario that don't work for me.

VO/Music/sound sfx/subtitles 3.5/5- There was a good use of sound fx, the music was good. What we can regret is the sound level of the voice that was too low and covered by the music. I had to play with my sound level during all the movie.

Editing/setdressing 3.5/5- Some flaw in this part. sometimes we can see the black of the set (on the roof scene for exemple), some cutting were probably missing (when the police chief speak on tv the 1st time) and other weren't well made (the man that go through the door of the elevator).

Enjoyment 4/5- I enjoyed this movie, but the enjoyment was broken by this voice sound level.

Conclusion: A great movie with good visual effect, very good use of freecam (I saw one of the same shot than in my last movie, the shot inside the "files desk"), a good story. Maybe a little bit too much gore and free violence. Anyway, Work a little bit more your sound aspect and your movie will be technicaly perfect :)

Total 21/25- 5 Stars a little 5 stars, you lost points on sound and editing part...

Oh my god! This really is the most... I dont even have words for it... Gosh! The way you used freecam... Gorgious! And the atmosphere was great too, it was very dark... Some of the scenes in the movie are so cool i wouldnt have though it possible in The movies. Did you use some sort of mods or something? No the less it was the best "The movies" movie i have ever seen. Also i liked the use of blood on the costumes and such...

That was intense; but, you did warn the audience. So I knew to expect an intense ride. Wow, it was still intense though. Great film. A few sound problems besides those you mentioned. You should use Levelator http://www.gigavox.com/ (it's free) and watch the music levels so they don't get too high, relative to the voice-overs. Free-cam was excellent as was the overall audio-visual components of the film. Great job with this film. Everyone's countless hours of contributions certainly paid off with this.

Good job on a gore fest. I thought the plot was OK, if thin as tissue, Not that there's anything wrong with that. I just felt some of the dialogue could have been tightened up ?? the actors did fine, but too much didn't feel natural to my ear.

The editing was good, i noticed a few glitches, but its not your fault, so i wont take any points away.
The effects...
were amazing. 'Nuff said.
The VO's some of them were really quite, and i had to turn up my speakers. But the VOers you chose did a great job.
Theres really not much else to say, except that this was a unique movie. And I'm glad i could play a role in it.
Awesome flick.

It's good to have you back, Butch - and movies like Bloodshot are one of the reasons why...

I found this remarkably restrained from what we've seen in the past from your studio - there was violence and gore, but it wasn't the over-the-top stuff we've seen in the past. You found a nice middle ground between shocking and appropriate.

This film also has you most solid story yet - reading the script, I was impressed, and seeing it on screen only increases my enjoyment. Good characters, a solid plot, and some excellent dialogue elevate this film above what you've done in the past.

There were a few sound issues, and some inconsistencies in the sound levels, but overall the strength of the performances from the excellent cast you assembled manages to power past any problems.

Really good work here - this is definitely the first cry of the new Butchered Studios.

Amazing... Just amazing. Unlike anything I have ever seen before here. The blood and gore, though maybe a little overused at times, was done in a very impressive way. Fantastic movie.

What have we here? Mmh, a action movie with gore and splatter scenes. The only word I can say at first is "Brilliant"! :)
The intense story is original but it was in my opinion a little bit jumpy in some scenes, but nevertheless pure entertainment. You've done a execellent job on the blood effects and overlays and they were well placed. Your camera work is one of the finest here on TMO. The casting did also a excellent job, but in some scenes the VO's were too low and difficult to understand. The soundtrack fitted in perfectly and I must congratulate Greeenglades for his nice work. Overall a great intense fun to watch gory action movie. 5 stars from me and two thumbs up! :)

Omg..what can I say? This was awesome. Normally, I'm not big on violence or 20 minute movies...but it flowed so smoothly you hardly noticed that it was a longer movie. Excellent job on the editing, overlays etc - I can see a lot of time and energy went into putting this together and the product was of high standard.

Everybody did a great job with their voice overs but I especially thought Kirin really sounded believable in his role. So kudos to him.

Good Job Butch!

I have to rate this truthfully, I didn't much care for the story of this movie. The mods and overlays were amazing as well as the voice acting but I just dind't much care for the story but it was good enough for 4 stars not 5. :)

Good film, I even scared myself. :o

Hmm. The gore was pretty cool, but it felt like the story was just a bus taking you to each murder. It's all well and good doing this, but the general plot line really did suffer.

The editing was good and the VO generally solid though some of the cast didn't seem suitable for the roles.

Keep it up mon, though I would advise to get a story together first and then fit in the money shots as such where appropriate.

OK, but i felt the blood and gore was overdone. I think that the impact was lost because of the gore and it seems to be the only draw card here. A few sound glinches and i found the idea of the police chief killing a cop to catch bloodshot to be highly lucicrous. A few nice camera angles but where wasted as they weren't held for long enough. And I think the strangle scenes was overdone with a predictable ending. Average slasher flick; high on blood and gore and low on substance.

~ Erik

Well done.

All We Ever Sought Of & More Even, what does that spell? AWESOME, top notch effects, let me say first, loved the blood effects and overlays were great. I felt there could have been a bit better transition between a few scenes but defidently still awesome! Also I felt the music cut a bit strange unless that was the effects you were going for, kinda like in the departed, I hope there is a sequel, cause you could defidently pull it off!!!

Now that's how you do it. Brilliant action, effects, and story. Usually movies like this are all style and no substance, but you managed to fit in an intruiging and engrossing story pertaining to the darker side of life itself. I can easily see how some people may be offended by this film (excessive swearing, gore, and intense sexual themes), but ultimately, the film was about morality. What would you do to uphold the morals you believe. The classic story of good vs. evil told in an in-your-face. I hope to see more from this director literally exploding back onto the TMO seen with plenty of punch (literally).

PS: I was totally digging that chase scene with the guys in fancy suits.
