@ DAVEKO1 - There is such a thing as leaving a review and leaving the diatrabe of a dillusional nut case such as yourself, whatever you have to say about anything is annulled by the fact that your grasp of a good movie is akin to that of a duck attempting chartered accountancy.

Right now on to the review;

Poor choice of background on the driving scene, it looked like his car was spinning around repeatedly.

The rest of the movie? It was ok, I have seen worse, I have seen a lot better, but taking into account the tools on offer, this was exceptional. It was an original idea, well thought out, and it left the viewer wondering what was next. Where was he? is this an illusion, is it really hell?

This movie left me with the same sense of WTF us the Buffy The Vampire Slayer episode where she wakes up in a mental asylum, and you are wondering if it is real or if it is not. At the end you are left with a shot of her in her bed, with her parents looking on and the door closes with the line "i'm sorry we lost her" ... The end of this movie didn't quite live up to that "Bam!" you are confused as to what is going on mentality, but heck it sure did leave me with wonderment as to weather the guy was really in the mental asylum, or hell or something else entirely, maybe even his own delusions.

If one word could sum this up it would be brilliant, for its thought out nature and the way it leaves you hanging...

a great movie and well worth every star it is given.

Interesting. I haven't quite figured out the plot as of yet, I'm half expecting Brian to wake up at any moment and discover it was all a dream. I mean discovering the dream was a dream in a dream, because of course he thinks he was dreaming a dream... what? Fudge, I am so lost.

Voiceovers were great, shame we couldn't hear more of Roger. Sparky1512 who I don't recall hearing before had a great voice especially, and was very suitable for the main role. Your voice was decent as always, though I did get distracted with lines like "You've been a very bad boy haven't you?", "I have the perfect punishment for you" and "it will be much easier if you simply do what you're told." Doesn't seem to be that much of a difference between that character and a leather clad vixen with a whipping fetish.

Scenes didn't always flow smoothly, and there was an odd mistake (during the running scene the background didn't scroll). I don't know if it's possible for the scenes to blend into each other more favorably without breaking the movie's pace, or indeed if such scenes are even available for the job first place.

The music was also good, though I did find it a bit too cheery at the beginning, like I'd just turned on the tellitubies rather than a horror movie. Later on the tune changed and the unique spooky feel gave much to the atmosphere.

All in all, good movie, now if you'll excuse me I have to watch something involving whips immediately.

Watching this brilliant film seems to leave you with an eerie sense of shock , and, though it wasn't particularly scary, I felt scared. A deep and meaningful film that I rate very highly. And it's good to know I'm not the only Brit on TMO.

Is it a dream or is it real? What a dilema.

The Good:
The mods. You incorporated them nicely.
The music. It fit the mood and the scenes.
The costumes. Everything fit nicely.
The Voices. Clear and crisp. Nice job to the V.A.'s

The Bad:
Some editing seemed a bit choppy. (flickered instead of somewhat smooth)

Overall:
A nice story that probably needs to have all the parts viewed together to truly appreciate. Will judge that by the next episode.

A wonderful approach to opening a film and a series of films. I'm hoping for a four parter to fully tell this tale. The cast really sells this segment. I'm sure having what appears to be a solid script only enhanced their talents. Asylum is a seamless film that twist, turns, and leads you on. EXCELLENT!

Very interesting and unexpected point of view.
Can't wait to see next part, I'm really curious... if you don't forget I'll appreciate a PM on release! :)
I really liked the editing, how you tell things, the way you decide to bring the parts of the plot together for us. Great job!! :)

An interesting movie that has me hooked, The plot is slightly confusing and as its to be continued, we're supposed to be left to think about it.

I liked the music choice it helped distinguish the dream world and reality (whichever way round that is) I also liked the VO's, a great cast you have there. The use of prop placement was also very good in creating the compound and Brian and Mary's home.

Strider Out!

I will disagree with some, I think the music fits fine, a particular genre doest mean a particlar type of music. I thought the vo's sounded pretty good as well. I love how you used the props here, very cool. I will be interested in seeing where this goes. Good job!

I was prepared for something I've never seen before on TMO when I clicked on the movie and that is a goo horror movie. Unfortunetly I was dissapointed.

Firstly, there was no attention to detail in this film. The best (or should I say worst) example of this is the scene near the start when Brian is driving. In it the background was a terrible choice and thats just the first of a never ending list of mistakes.

Next, the voice acting. It was terrible. And this it is also one of the few things that cannot be blamed on the terrible script that was impossible to follow. The voice acting was bland, unconvincing and I think it might have made my ears bleed.

Let's not forget the sound track. This is supposed to be a horror movie! Why is the music so happy?! It really takes a lot away from the film and I think I would have enjoyed it more if it had some scary music or anything better than that crap!

For all it's never ending imperfections it does have some charm which is why I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1.

P.S. Please DO NOT make a sequel!!!

A FREDTHEDUCK HORROR REVIEW

Plot: 13/15 - a good plot, a little familiar, but good none the less.

Suspense: 7/10 - although not a lot of suspense, there was a building feel of desperation, whih sort of falls into this category.

Scary rating: 8/10 - This is quite a good scary movie, which actually scares me...even though I am very likely to wake up in a mental home, and realise that everything was a dream. . .

VOs: 14/15 - It is great to hear a full english cast foor a change :D but sadly, one or two of the VOs had pops in them...

Custom content: 15/15 - other than the costumes, I don't think I spotted much default stuff. . .

Editing: 15/15 - The editing was excellent, and I cannot fault you at all here.

Music/sfx: 9/10 - the music used really gave the impression of insanity, and the other tunes fitted excellently too. My only fault is that at the start, it sounded like a default tune...for the fisrt few seconds.

The "wow" factor: 9/10 - there was obviously a lot of effort pt into this, and it looked awesome. My only fault is that I think I saw a typo in one of the custom overlays :p

TOTAL: 90% - 5 star!

This had me intrigued from the very first scene.
I loved the whole quirky atmosphere of this film.
It reminded me a little of ??Life on Mars?? which is no bad thing, I loved that show.
The superb use of music really added to the atmosphere.
A film that has you questioning reality isn??t an easy thing to write, but you??ve pulled it off admirably here.
A well written and technically solid work.
I??ll certainly be back for the next part!
Very well done!

I felt that although I thought that the movie itself was pretty good. There were a couple parts where it seemed to fly by, making it sorta hard to follow. I thought the Sound & Visual effects; Vo??s were all very good! The only thing I didn??t like was I thought there was a lot of silence during the movie (ex: long quiet graveside scene.) Looking forward to part two! Overall: Interesting!

Very good movie.
The voice acting was top notch and came in very clear (no subtitles needed to understand what they were saying, and the acting was done with actual emotion instead of being flat (maybe it's the british accents).

Story was engaging and interesting. Kept me interested throughout. Good introduction as well.

The editing was great. I could tell you put alot of work into this area. Continuity seemed seamless.

Great use of music. Really set the mood well (original score?).

Looking forward to seeing the sequel.

Great stuff Yorkshire, gripping story, set up nicely for part two. Some nifty mods and some good scenes, my only complaint would be that some of the VOs were a bit emotionless. But considering the timescale, Congratulations! and keep up the good work...

I came looking for a music sample, and what I found was a breathtaking story of mystery, ambience, and realistic emotion that envelops the viewer into a morbid fantasy. The atmosphere is ingenious, a perfect manipulation of music, mods, and color. Along with an excellent VO cast, "Asylum" is an astounding entry into the ITC. Good luck!

Great movie, certainly builds up an atmosphere although at some points the music shattered this. The VOs were very well done. The use of mods worked very well and the editing was very good. The very first overlay was a bit of centre but the rest were ok.

Well in the spirit of fair play...nice movie! Truly left me wondering what is going on for that guy. Clever overlay ending too. Hopefully you can continue this series in the competition, because I want to find out what happens!

...and ta very much for a great opening chapter!

This was a fine piece of storytelling...a thoroughly intriguing plot accompanied by a great score, some fine voice acting and nice fresh visuals.

Editing in certain parts does let it down slightly, but this is more an in-game problem...I know 'cos it drives me nuts when I'm editing my own movies.

That aside, this was a great introduction to what promises to be an excellent mini series.

Looking forward to the second chapter and...COME ON YOU EN-GER-LAND!

Very interesting. I enjoyed watching it but I felt like there were a few little things that could have been done better. Amazing, the story was very well written and acted. The whole movie was very mysterious and suspenceful, you never knew what was waiting around the corner. The ending especially was magnificent. The voice acting I would say was one of the stronger points of it. Sparky1512 does an amazing job as Brian. Can't wait for the next installment.

An excellent horror/thriller Laura. A very good first part. It was a real masterpiece. I loved it. The plot was interesting, i loved the twist at the end. Very clever idea. I know there is more to come in the next part for the plot, but there's still a pretty good plot going on in this part!!!! Good job there. The vo's were incredible and you've got a very talented cast!!!! They all did an incredible job!!!
Great job. The music was very good. Liked it a lot. The editing was well done and this film was indeed a good watch. 5 stars no doubt, it was well paced, intruguing and very put together. Could only give it 4 I'm afraid. Some of the timing on the VO was rushed which subtracted from the whole drive of it, made it difficult to get into it.

An interesting idea which I shall make sure I pursue :)

Loved it! I have to say it was extremely ceepy.
The voice acting (not speaking for myself obviously) was superb! Truly brought the characters to life. Perfectly suited, he tones added to the feel ofgrowing confusion.
The music was impecibly well chosen. The constant piano tinkling punctuated by the deep tones made it all seem abit surreal. he atmosphere was thickand heavy and makes the viewer frown as they try to work out th mysteries of the Asylum.
The camerawork was great. Some of the angles were very nice.
Direction was also very good. Nie coice of scenes and edited well together. A couple of jumps but pretty smooth none the less and if anything it just adds to the weird world of Asylum.
Looking forward (hopefully) to part 2!

Eeh uup! Too many unanswered questions! What was the research? Why were people protesting? What is "The Asylum"? Is it a cure for cancer? Is this review more than twenty words?

An incredible movie. I didn't feel the length at all, everything seemed to be edited smoothly and I was kept intruiged throughout. Despite the fact that I wrote the script, it still felt like a new movie to me as you brought such life and depth to each role.
You intergrated those pieces of music perfectly into the movie and made great use of sets and costumes. You made the Asylum, believable.

You're the best Laura! :p
