I??ve finally gotten around to reviewing this one and I??ve got to say I??m so glad that I made the time to watch it.
The wonderfully dramatic introduction pull me right into the action, which was non stop all the way through this adrenalin pact Sci-Fi.
Technically this was superb, the effects, editing and flow were all seamless.
There are so many specific scenes I could comment on here, all of them spectacular.
If I had one critisism, and i've had to look hard to find one, it would be the sound leveling seemed a little off in places, switching from quiet to loud VO's occasionaly. I 'm just nit picking though and it really didn't detract from my enjoyment in the slightest.
I should also mention the musical score which really added to the atmosphere of this sci-fi epic.
Superb in every respect this is truly an outstanding action packed film and I loved every second of it.
My only regret is that I didn??t watch this one sooner?. Now there's a part 2, right :) ...

AS someone who isnt a sci-fi fan at all I must say i was entertained by this one due to more human factor.

There were moments of nice effects and visuals. There were good crisis dialogue too. The audio volumes was distracting and i felt similar shots were used too often at times . but overall, i felt it was well done and very watchable... From someone who really cant stand Sci-fi movies...i'll give it to you that this one was good

It was enjoyable to watch this again, though I really didn't notice that many sound problems with the initial upload....I do have to say that it held my attention very well the second go-round, and gave me a chance to enjoy some of the excellent camera work and set dressing.

I'm really looking forward to the next episode...watching it again only reminded me how much.

Finally I've got the time to watch the famous scifi-series "Enigma". And what can I say? TMO forget Star Trek, we have a better series "Enigma"! What a brilliant start for a series. The whole 12 minutes just flew by as I've watched it, because there was so much great action going on. The technical aspect is on a high level. The new ship models are one of the best I've ever saw here on TMO. Also the fantastic overlays and the sets are state of the art. Your cast did also a wonderful work and the well picked soundtrack and sound effects fits in perfectly. 5 stars and two thumbs up from me! :)

I'll only say this once : Wow ^^ !

Frankly, the scene editing was just wonderful. Each time a scene passed, I had the impression that it was unique, and followed fluidly with the others. Not to mention the great (even if little) use of custom overlays (if we forget that weird little lasers shooting one...) No need to stuck ourselves with the music, as it was giving the movie the atmosphere you expect from a Sci-Fi movie. As for the plot, I don't see what I could argument of with such good material (or maybe there should have been some parts revealing blinks of the evil ships' pilots). The only black sheep in all of this was the VO's. Whereas the clarity was there, the overall volume wasn't, and because of this, I didn't quite as much hearing some people talk (the captain with the red dress for example) than others (the main hero).

Verdict ? A great movie that I enjoyed viewing, so much in fact that I'm going to review the other one right away ^^

How puffy was it? Space. The infinite realm of stars and black nothingness...really its the perfect battle ground. You dont have to worry about twisting your ankles in ditches, or running into trees or any of that stuff...
Oh yah...Happy Birthday!

Plot: 8/10 - Pretty straight foward plot of good ship vs. bad ship(s), though at the beginning I was kind of confused. Its a good start of a pilot, and I'll be sure to check out the second one...

Dialougue: 7/10 - The biggest problem I had was through some of the conversations I couldnt hear a person at all. And then I'd crank up my volume to hear em, and get blasted away by a different booming voice. The acting was good, and besides the voice sound differences (and the occasional pop) everything was good.

Editing: 10/10 - Jesus Christ! Looking at all of those crazy mods/overlay was astounding. It's clear you put a TON of effort into this. And it showed. New sets, new actions, and some all around totally sweet scenes came out of your hard editting work. AMAZING JOB!

Sound: 10/10 - Awesome music. And it fit sci-fi well. You placed it apropriatly, and made the end fight scene really cool sounding. The sound effects of stuff blowing up/shooting were pretty sweet too.

Enjoyment: 9/10 - Sci-fi's not really my thing. But I'm not gonna take points down just because I think differently about a genre. I can still tell this is an excellent movie. And I suprisingly enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Good job.

Puff Factor: 44/50 = 4.4/5.0 - Dude. This was extremly close to being a 5 star. But dont worry, this was still an awesome flick, and will have a good chance at winning an award at the Snuffin Puffin Show...

Great movie. I'm a big fan of sci-fi flicks.

I liked the use of free cam, kept the scenes lively and things never got stale.

Good voice over throughout (allthough there were a few areas were it was difficult to understand what they were saying, but overall it was good) acting and quality wise.

Good music, set the mood well.

Editing was well done (some scenes might have been able to be cut down a bit, such as the horse riding scene).

Story was good, had a nice epic feel to it.

I'm not a sci-fi fan, but in this case I made and exception.
Great use of mods, overlays, textures, music and sound fx. You made good use of the freecam, and the story seemed to move along nicely, the only problem I found was the levels of some of the VO's, other than that I thought it was really good.

Good Job Uber!

A thrilling Sci-Fi film, to open up what promises to be an even more thrilling leap into space and time, or, at least space. Well put together on each frame, and well above any film I've seen you do.

Firstly, I wanted to compliment you on two things you do very well. I recently had a discussion with someone about the "pushing the envelope" theory of TMO, in that a few members push the boundaries of our medium to its limits, and when it collapses into form again the regular members have more to work with, sort of a trickle down effect. If this is true, then you lead the charge in many aspects of special effects. Every time I grab a Dr Pepper and sit down to one of your films, I always expect dazzling visuals, while you didn't disappoint, I've come to expect the "Blockbuster Effect". Meaning, you capitalize on your mods and visuals above all else. I think this is a great thing for our community, but you could really create a special film if you pushed for perfection on all fronts.

In some of the voice overs I heard that "mike bite", or "puhhh" noise as feedback. This film, to my knowledge, was quite a ways in the making. Voice Overs serve as such an important part of films, and I think in some parts you neglected some smaller roles. For the film to really leap across a vast amount of plot, it needs voice overs on every cylinder, and I think when you invest into the next "Episode" you should simply require higher standards. Don't be afraid to ask someone to do voice overs again, or get a new actor. The Movies Online is a broad community, and you are talented enough to have anyone.

That beside itself as my main concern, great film. Great special effects, even some I thought were cheesy [the laser effect] to some that made me think [the "Simulator] and others I liked for I've been playing in that realm of overlays [the computer speaking scene]. From you steal on the "Star Wars Shot" [the large ship cascading smaller ones] through amazing titles and ending with a great closing, visually your film appeals to everyone. Even those of us trying to make each film visually new, you show us the way in many aspects of TM.

Usually, this phase of my review is reserve to puncturing the plot and sticking my fingers through the holes. However, I liked this plot, it wasn't award winning, but it carried a whole film pretty well and kept up with your visuals more than I think most of your screenplays do. Usually the plot and visuals far outweigh the dialog, and that is still the case, but the deficit is car less than what I've seen. Great screenplay.

Overall, one of the best movies I've seen you produce. Keep me PM Posted on the progress of the series and new episodes. One of the best Sci-Fi film in TMO History, easily.

I??m not really a big fan of sci-fi (except the old Star Trek) but this was really enjoyable. The use of the camera was really awesome (and necessary for the genre). The voice actors did some nice work. A few were a little low and somewhat hard to hear. The story flowed well but the ending was a little flat compared to the rest of the film. Editing could have been a bit tighter (almost a full minute of the Capt. Riding a horse) but there were no major issues that I noticed.

Overall a good start to a series. I enjoyed it.

Duey's Decimal Rating: 4.5
My Take: Classic Sci-fi action nicely played and flawlessly executed. The cast was well chosen and the Voice Acting was great. Some of the voices though were much louder then others and sometimes it was hard to hear actors through the Sound F/X. The modding was increadable and the use of standard sets with Sci-Fi retextures (Restaurants/ Offices/ Hallways/ Etc.) was a fantastic idea.

This was great, i really enjoyed watching it. It look amazing with mods, overlays, fx etc and the vo's and sound fx were top notch. Any criticism that i may have are fairly minor and pretty insignificant given all of the 'good' points that i have just witnessed. I won;t even begin to break them all down, needless to say i loved this and gave it a well deserved 5 star rating!

cheers

That was a nice little space adventure, Uber. I was really entertained by all the action, and danger that was taken place. Really cool sound effects, and overlays. I'm a big fan of science fiction movies, so this movie really hit the spot for me.

The Vo's were really nice, and easy to hear. The Va's did a nice job voice acting for this movie, bravo to all of them. The music was well picked, and enjoyable throughout the entire film.

Good job, Uber!

5 stars!

I'm not normally a huge fan of FX driven Science Fiction, but this kept my attention. Very well paced and amazing effects (loved the jump gates). Made me want to watch the next episode. My only gripe was the sound ?? at times I could hardly hear the dialogue for the music and SFX, quite distacting to my ear. Off to watch the next one now...

Great sci-fi feature! Just like watching a TV series for sure. Nice climatic finish with standard, albiet cheesy close.
The VO's were good but the volumes were different throughout, I had to adjust the volume at times.
I loved how you used to Field of View in the initial contact for the captain. Great "shock" effect displayed...;) Loved the battleship design and the battle sequences. Good use of overlays to get the effect of ships hyperjumping on scene. I'm looking forward to future releases. :)

Kinda racist and lacks certain charm of a sci-fi thriller. I also believe films should not be modded into the stone age to "enhance" a film. Any good film maker can easly create greatness from what is given to him via the movies game. The story and plot was a bit jumpy, but it had more than most films..but honoestly I am not a fan of such modded out flicks unless they are REALLY cooOol. heh, so please don't take offense when I give you 2 stars.

Also..just alittle side note here; bribe'n people to give you reviews is...well just plain stupid in my opinion. Just make films for people to enjoy, don't be a capitalist tool!!! cus I know you can be so much more!!

A FREDTHEDUCK REVIEW

Plot: 17/20 - a good solid plot, but perhaps slightly too short to get to know all the character's personalities. There did also seem to be quite a bit of violence, that I could find no apparent reason for (im kinda tired right now, so sorry if that was explained)

Suspense: 7/10 - I feel that this movie did have its moments of suspense, but they were few and far between.

Sci-fi feel: 9/10 - this definitely felt like a sci-fi, with lots of "new" technology, and several space ships.

VOs: 13/15 - although there was a great cast, there were a few pops and a couple of lines were hard to understand.

Custom content: 10/10 - If there's anything i can learn fom this movie, it is that you love to use mods :p they all fitted perfectly with what they were needed for too. good job ;)

Editing: 14/15 - the only thing that you missed from your editing was more suspense. other than this, I can't fault you.

Music/sfx: 9/10 - some very good music used, but at points slightly too quiet.

The wow factor: 9/10 - overall, a movie that kpt my eyes open. great use of freecam and overlays.

TOTAL: 88% - 5 star!

A revised Episode, so here is a revised Review.

This is a brilliant episode to what I look forward to being a great series. The dialogue was well done and VO'd, you have a great cast working alonside you.
The sounds still could have had the volumes balanced. (But your resources are most likely focused on Ep 2 so I'm not complaining.)

Some of my favourite parts included the use of Free-cam which was really well implemented in the original and has been expanded with this revision.
The music was well chosen, I don't know If you added anything new but as I said previously. The choices were excellent setting up the atmosphere. That coupled with free-cam really gave the battle sequences a sense of urgency.

And finally the overlays and mods. My favourite overlays would be the ones used in the undocking scenes, which work very well (although you've come under fire from it). And the Atlas model must be the most detailed and original models on TMO.

I WILL definately be checking out episode 2 when its released.

Strider Out!

I enjoyed the fast action and good pacing of this movie. It's a slick production indeed.

The visuals were quite stunning and kept me thinking.. how did he do that bit?
Great animated overlays and use of original sets and set dressing. Wondrous warp burst animations.

Terrific voice overs from the cast, and extra nod to Kwis who used his extensive experience quite well here.

The music for the most part supported the action quite well, but there were one or two gentle cues that seemed tacked on and perhaps a bit distracting.

My biggest beef and I know it's been mentioned, is the level mismatch between the actors and also the loudness of the music and FX in some bits which partially obscured the actor's lines.

Overall I enjoyed this a lot and hope for some minor audio refinements for the next segment.

cheers and well done Ubernewbie,

a well directed movie

This a wonderful beginning to what looks to be an excellent series. On the 'tech' end this film is right up there with some of the best. As for the story itself, it too is both steady and exciting. This film has a easy going pace which by no means takes away from it's energy. I thought the last few scenes of this film were perhaps its weakest link and would have loved to have been left with a cliff hanger ending but no complaints here. A very fine film!

Excellent Sci Fi. Truly original feel what with the custom sets and mods and all that jazz. The dialog was a bit too technical, but hey, it's a sci fi. The VOs were good I think, I dont know what julianallees is talking about. I dont think this is as good as F2B though. The free-cam was, as always, superb. The music seemed a little cheesey at the begining, but got better.

What a great sci fi episode show. It was very interesting had very very very very very very very very very good mods, i loved it. The music was very awesome and you couldn't of chosen a better kind. There was just one thing, the vos. The vos really brought this film down, they were very good at all, in fact they were awful, but still the rest of the film contradicted towards this. WEll done, what a brilliant film, well and trully deserving five stars

PS In the beginning fonts, the choice of font/writting for it was extremely hard to read

Please rate my new trailer/teaser for "Loneliness" you won't regret it

Thanks heaps for this brilliant film and let me know when the second episode is coming out
