Thanks to everyone who hepled me on the film! Without your acting this film would not be near as good.

Part three: An ancient race of female warriors is dicoverd deep in the jungles of Brazil. Are these the Amazons that the Greeks wrote of so many centuries earlier? Do they guard the gates of El Dorado itself?

I can't believe I didnt see this sooner. WOW. The creative use of backdrops and scenes mixed into a very outstanding finished product. I must say, one of the best fight scenes I have seen here on TMO. I can say that the entire film felt fresh, and for such a big undertaking, it was executed with sheer brilliance. Sound and music were perfect, and even with some of the VO's not really matching their character, I still enjoyed it all the way through.

It takes a very perceptive and clever director to use the tools you have the way you did. I'm very pleased to have seen this and wish I would have sooner.

My only issue is the use of subtitles felt distracting with the VO's, and being such a small wmv, they take up enough space to be a distraction. I'd lose them in the next one, but just my thoughts.

I thought when I first read about this that it wouldnt come off well and wow, was I wrong about that. It exceeded my expectations ten fold. Very Nice work GL.

Most of the Vo's were ok, but could have been delivered with a more "adult' tone and feeling, but otherwise, all well done.

5 well earned stars GL, you are definitly not confined to the restrictions of the game in any way. Cant wait for part 2.

Cheers.

Superb. I'm always amazed by what is possible with The Movies. All the mods, props, and backdrops that can be used to make a great movie. I would like to see more of your work. I see many good movie makers who have high spots on the charts but this truly is a marvelous work of art. Keep up the excellent work. This movie is what The Movies is all about.

Very imaginative and well crafted film! Fron the stunning visuals to the well conceived script this film also showcases and excellent voice cast and music selection.

The use of overlays and animations is particularly well done here and truly immersed me into the mood and period of the film.

I could clearly understand all of the voice actors and wondered if you really needed the sub-titles (and there were a few typos there) but overall this film was spectacular!

Great job all,

gp

Wow those SFX were awesome. The SFX were a key element to the movie and you did things with them I thought impossible till now. The VOs were all good and fit the characters well. I think this mini-series will be a big hit on TMO. Great Job!

Have you ever wondered why they call George_Locust one of the great TMO film-makers at the moment? This film will clearly show you why and how.
He gives a great tale a great taste on TMO. Never have I ever seen a TMO movie that has used a lot of creative overlays to make a film this way, Remarkable!

The cast was marvelous! MoonShadowRogue gives a immense leading performance!
As do the rest.

The story was great, editing was astonishing, and I cant wait for the next film to set sail!

Amazing!

This movie is not perfect. In some ways, it lacks. There appears to be the tendency to misspell some of the subs and the tendency to lack lip syncing here and there...

Why then do I give it a five stars?

no, not my VO... It's actually the only VO I'd complain about in the entire cast..

but here's the thing... the SFX, backdrops and overlays, from the kiss on the balcony to the amazing, unparalelled action scene on the deck... Wow! I was staring, my eyes bulging. So yeah, this is a 5 stars movie. The SFX is worth 6 stars all by itself.

An amazing work, like nothing anyone has ever done on TMO

Before my review I will give you a brief history lesson, El Dorado was Hernan Cortez's name for the Aztec capital Tenochitlan on lake Texcoco near modern day Mexico City, not in South America. Cool mods and a not so good story but overall a kinda good movie. BJMOLYNEUX out.

Good plot, tipped a little too close to a romance movie in the bit with his wife. The mods were varied between really really cool and totaly out of place silly.Good luck with part 2.

How can this be awarded anything but five stars? It's just so amazing what you can do with this game. Your animations or what they are are absolutely stunning. I can't understand how you are able to it.

I especially liked the scene on the boat where they were fighting and Aiko kicked a guy, caught his rifle and fired it at him. Fantastic!

Interesting story, good camera work, acting, etc. You cover new boundaries in this game with your use of mods. The fights were pretty intense too.

Great stuff!! that was really amazing what you did using overlays etc... I never knew that could be done. loved the custom costumes and the music was fantastic. The fight scene was great, had hints of anime style. Awesome work, if your sending out invites to the premier of any of your other movies, be sure to send me one. Keep up the good work.

The polished and wonderfully scored credits did a wonderful job of grabbing my attention.
The use of stills worked extremely well accompanied by the opening monologue.
There is some inspired free cam use here which really helps the scenes flow smoothly.
The dialogue was on the whole very well written and extremely well performed which certainly helped add to the cinematic quality of this film.
If I had one criticism it would be the use of subtitles. I found them a little distracting when they were out of sync with the dialogue.
This is only a small problem though, in what was otherwise a very entertaining and well put together feature.
I have no hesitation in giving this 5 stars and I??ll definitely be back for the next instalment.
Very nice work.

GREETINGS FROM L.M.A.O. STUDIOS!
REVIEW by JennyN

Wow and whoa. Ok, this movie has so much potential, but the editing does kinda kill it as my fellow LMAO Studios members pointed out. One thing they didn??t mention is the narration. I liked the way it opened up the story and the actor really gets you into it right off the bat. These type of movies really don??t get me excited, but the fight scene was a cool and unique change of pace from the rest. I would have slowed down the fighting just a bit, but the mods were cool to see. I do agree the pace was a bit off, but I see from other reviews that you probably have heard enough of that and will adjust it in the next movie. lol :) I also agree that this series will be something special

Great movie!

GREETINGS FROM L.M.A.O. STUDIOS!

An interesting first installment

THE GOOD: The backdrops really shined in this film. They really added a sense of realism. The acting, for the most part, was well acted. The story itself is interesting and complex. The fight scene with the woman was really fun to watch, we can tell a lot went into it! The opening credits as well as the opening establish shots were impressive!

THE BAD: A bit boring for a few reasons: The editing was extremely loose. One person talks, big pause, the other person answers. In order to keep the plot and story flow moving at a gripping pace, you MUST have tighter editing. The VO??s on many characters was simply to low and it??s the directors responsibility to make sure all of the voices are clear and distinct. Otherwise the viewer loses interest. The music was to loud at some parts and seemed not to fit with others. The music was also very familiar to hear and as there is no mention of where it came from, either in credits or in the films description, it could make viewers question its copyright protection. The dialog seemed a bit corny and unrealistic at times. However, a lot of the dialog was very intellegent and intriguing to listen to, but again, was ruined by bad recordings and editing.

SUGGESTIONS ON FUTURE PROJECTS: Speed up the pace by tightening the editing. Send poor dialog back to the VA until its acceptable, your film is depending on it. Make sure to credit the music.

Overall, a very promising first installment to the trilogy. With some further polishing, we can see this series becoming not only a real eye opener, but a blockbuster on TMO!

Good luck

The VO's were very good and the SFX was great! It's clear that you are a clever director who know's his stuff. If this is part 1... Can't wait till part 2. I particularly liked the Fight Scene, awesomely awesome!!!

A good story drives this unique film.

A superb use of backdrops. That must have taken a good chunk of time. This is very well done.

The voice acting is well done, which begs the question; why the subtitles? I just don't think they were needed here, and they don't last the entire film.

Overall, you have a new fan. I look forward to your future work.

From a technical and creative point of view I think "El Dorado part one" is a good film. It is not doubt clever and put together in fine fashion but not seamless. As to the story, acting, and dialog I can't help but feel that a few more "takes" could have enhanced the mood of the film greatly. The story itself isn't bad at all althought I find it more fantasy than history. The lines themself were pretty good for the most part but lacked the conviction of the actor in some cases to sell them. That was not the case, however, throughout the entire film. There are some fine performences in this movie and some terrific lines but at the end of this film I can't help but find myself wondering how well will the next segment play out.

The Archaic Awards
Review

Story: 7/10 A little bit unclear. Seemed to jump around. A lot of plot elements weren't introduced well. I was lost. I found myself wondering, "who are they?" "What do they have to do with the story?" "What is going on?" Not very good storytelling.

Music: 4/5 A little bit annoying. Didn't work for a lot of the film. Just average.

VO/Subs: 6/10 The subtitles did match what the people were saying and were not used on every line. This made it annoying. Some of the VO's were too quiet.

Script: 4/5 Some of the lines were bland and unimaginative while others were funny. Some were not delivered well while others couldn't be delivered well at all.

Extras: 4/5 Backdrops were good. Freecam....... OVERDONE!!! A lot of the freecam angles really didn't work. The mods were overdone too. The fight sequence was almost silly with some good and some bad overlays. The whole thing was choppy. Mods themselves were good though.

Editing: 10/15 Really disappointed in the editing. The entire movie was choppy and felt really disjointed. The fight sequence was the worst part of the movie when it really should have been the best. There was a part with dialogue where it just showed a woman sitting on the ground. Just a backdrop, but for a good 30 sec. I know you are a very good filmmaker, but this film disappointed me. It felt rushed and it felt like you didn't put the extra time in to make sure it was worthy of being released. Better luck next time.

Final Score: 35/50

What!?!?! Who is this George Locust??? Never seen him before, but its possible he might be one of the best rising upcoming studios yet.

This really was one of the best movies I've seen from such a small studio. From start to finish my eyes were dazzled by the amount of time and creativity put into this movie. The overlays G L, were pure genius!! I've seen some cool overlays, but these really had action and a feeling about them. The fight scene was unbelievable, overlays really made this scene jump to live! Flaws? My only suggestion towards your next movie George, is to make the subtitles more insync to the voices speaking. There were some few minor spelling errors, but nothing too noticable.

You also had a great cast to support the movie as well. Dialouge use was good. The story plot was very good too, I really wanted to see what would come next to this adventurious tale. Overall G L, you really managed to impress me to most on your use of overlays. Otherwise good job on this movie and I hope to see more from such a promising studio.

This exotic adventure is really rich and interesting to follow, the use of mods, especially the incredible balcony scene, is one of the finest I have never seen on tmo, the story is realy ineresting too, and the actors fits well in the movie, I would like mention mothertheresa/moonshadowrogue, who is really great in his role^^!

An ambitious movie (like that !), with lots of good and clever ideas of set dressing. I especially liked the extra costumes, good work. Backdrops are not always matching, I found, but it's an amazing job. Musics are a little "cheap" in my ears and voice acting could have been more convincing sometimes, but it's still good. Wow for the special effects job ! The story is very well written and the script is very fine. Very good film !

Beautiful to look at and cleverly done. However, I found the subtitles incredibly distracting, I had read some of them entirely before the VOs. Then in one scene you didn't use them, and the music was so loud I couldn't make out what was being said. I'm looking forward to the next part, ditch the subtitles though, they're unnecessary.

oh boy, have I been missing out. I've never read or watched El Dorado (except part of an animated version) but I know the plot. This has me hooked from the beginning from the great choice of Voice actors to the use of custom content including the animated overlays that really brings something fresh to TMO. Well scripted and given a great soundtrack.

I look forward too the next installment. My only criticism is the subtitles, they are unecessary. Apart from that good luck with the next installment.

A great film with an interesting story accented with spectacular animation work. I think the action scenes here were very inventive, with use of very inventive and original overlays (particularly the hostage sequence). I did find the music to be too loud when compared to the voices, which caused me to constantly fiddle with my speaker volumes. Aside from that, this is a great adventure series in the making and I look forward to seeing the continuation of this saga.

Well done film. I was amazed. To be honest, I expected a sub par film lacking the essential qualities of a 3 star film. I was given a great film, with the solid pieces to put together a quality movie. I had some problems here and there, but overall... nice work.

First order of business, and where I become the pickiest man in no business, Voice Overs. You need to equalize your voice overs, so that they appear all at the same volume, and in a audio ratio to the music. You never had music overshadow voice overs, but there were a few parts where soft voice overs killed a moment.

Part of your film required creating a world, you did ok. This is the main reason I'm giving you 4 stars, because I think the world wasn't there. I have an unfair advantage with the length of time I've been here, and my knowledge of mods, however you ignored some mods that could've really helped you. If I had to create a shipyard, I would take some wooden fencing [a prop available] and adorn a blue screen with it. Take a starry night backdrop, throw some wooden crates on there with a background boat. Then, throw in metal accessories and call it a day. For nearly every scene you tried to "create" a set, you used backdrops. Backdrops go so far, and when, for example at [06:48] you use detailed backdrops, but the image becomes distorted, it ruins your credibility to rely on backdrops. If you want a ship in the background, show it once [there is a boat prop] and let the audience understand it is there. Or, put a boat in the background of a quality backdrop, however throwing a boat in the backdrop distracts from the visuals happening on the screen. It draws out attention away from the screen action, and fades out eyes to the backdrop. Backdrops, all the modding we love, it is all secondary to a film... to a plot.

I think your plot was decent, it was a bit off. I think the girl's costume didn't fit the era you were going for... at least to me, it seemed out of place. The Roman Headdress was the most realism I think you got. Some of the finer plot points really don't hold up under the light of filmmaking. If you strip away the action, the mods, and the technical directing, you need to have a strong foundation. I think for your next one, you should use shorter scenes. One thing, at least I found, was that the scenes were kind of long. The best advice MGMKid ever gave me, was to start a scene half done. Enter into a scene with characters half into a conversation, this lets the viewer discover and invest in the conversation. It also begins each scene with action, rather than back and forth dialog, which ends in sea sickness. I think if you used this a few times, it would speed up the conversation scenes, many times through the film you have pretty well paced action and a film flow that is quality, however if your conversation scenes were correctly paced and matched the film's overall flow, you would secure perfection.

About [07:35] I was impressed with what you were doing. However, [08:29] the action scene where she fights off an army of guys, it gets excessive. Reminiscent of 300, the brutality becomes a joke. She keeps killing... sort out scenes with dialog. Perhaps, have her moving forward rather than just killing. Add depth to the scene. I think the scene is very well done, but runs long. If you broke up the action sequences with a bit of depth, dialog, and meaning then I think overall the film's pace would balance.

It is nice to know that I helped you learn how to do overlays. It made me laugh, because your overlays are far better than mine. You're a valuable addition to the community, because you're a rising star. This is the best film you have ever made, I can say that without doubt or hesitation. Please, take my comments to heart and challenge yourself for the best possible quality. Rarely do I watch a film and get what I got out of your film, solid quality.

Also, a little extra for creative use of the rocking chair scene. I think very few people appreciate some of the creative works you did, but I would like to point that out as the best piece of directing you did. Blowing things us, seizure style overlays, and amazing title slides... all well and good, but challenging the medium we're all stuck with, that is truly a victory.

Very good. Your use of backdrops and overlays created a setting I have never seen before on TMO. I especially like how you did the scene with the hostage, and the fight scene that followed was absolutely brilliant. I loved the use of sound effects and the music and voice acting was top notch. Kudos to everyone invovled.

The movie did have its faults, however. The timing on some of the dialogue was a little off, and there were quite a few awkward camera angles throughout the film, but nothing too bad.

A great film overall. Not perfect, but well worth 5 stars. I'm really anxious to see the next two installments.

Superbly inventive use of backdrops and overlays were the main feature of this film. I particularly liked the hostage-taking scene and the other action sequences. For a film of this nature, the skullduggery and backstabbing that was going on were also highly appropriate and satisfying.

The set-piece action scenes were brilliant and almost worth a 5 in their own right - beautifully edited and with nice sound effects added too (a feature of most of the film).

But the scenery chewing performances of nearly the entire cast (I exempt Aiko) didn't work - and they weren't helped by some very lazy editing. Once again, as in so many films, there was a gap of about 10 minutes between a question and an answer:

"Hello, how are you?"

...

...

...

(put the horse over there!)

...

...

"Fine thankyou."

Ok, a slight exaggeration (by about 9 minutes and 58 seconds)- but you could drive a car if not a bus through the gap between one line and the next. That's not how I talk in real life anyway.

That seems to fox me, how could the editing be so snappy and brilliant during the action and so pedestrian during the conversations?

Perhaps we'll never know. The subtitles, coming seconds before the spoken words, began to annoy me as the spoken line wasn't nearly as good as I imagined from what was written. It was like reading a good novel line by line, immediately mirrored by an inferior film version. If you must use subtitles, make them appear at the same time or just after the line gets spoken.

But these negatives are pretty minor when great special effects and top action sequences like those in this film come out to play! Just for these, this is worth watching twice.

Very good. The story was interesting and engaging, and as was mentioned before, the use of overlays and backdrops was very creative, if a bit rough at the edges. You should also work on your synchronization and subtitles. Very nice work overall.

Story (10) - A wonderfully gripping tale, already looking ready to be a great TMO advevnture. Good job.

Originality (8) - I'm not sure on the whole history of the tale and so forth, but as far as effects go you made some very original scenes, which surprised me.

VOs/Subs (8) - Generally good throughout, although at stages it could be heard when the microphone stopped recording. It was just a few little details like that, that needed tidying up.

Music (9) - Throughout the music was pretty effective. Nicely chosen at the beginning, and the effective timbre throughout worked very well.

Editing (8) - Generally quite effective I thought. My main negative point on the film however was the untidyness of the whole thing. I'm sure you can quickly become one of the great filmmakers of TMO, but I think for next time you've got to tidy up everything thoroughly, and make sure you make the right choices over scenes etc.

Set Dressing & Props (10) - A very original and fresh approach. Frequent use helped to easily create new sets. (Was there any set, other than stage and blue screen even used...?).

Camerawork (9) - Quality camerawork. Hard to fault.

Backdrops/Overlays (9) - The best use of backdrops I've seen in a long time. Very original, you enabled us to be placed right in the action. The credits were pretty good too. I have to say some of them were very messy, and at times seemed very unnecessary, like during the fight scenes, and when his wife did a monologue. Personally I don't seen any problem with the default scenes in this situations, and it did give a rather static feel at times.

Genre Feel (10) - I don't really know what to say here...uhhh...yeah....it was good. Felt very classy.

Mods & That Something Extra (8) - 5 points for some brilliant set dressing and backdrops. 3 points for creating, practically new sets, without doing any modding.

89/100 - 5 stars and close to earning my Big Cheese Award. My word of advise for the next installment would be just to tidy up everything, and maybe less of the overlays, especially during action. Good luck with the rest of the series!

Great job all,

gp

From the moment I laid my eyes on the Teaser Trailer for Road Duel, I knew instantly that you had the talent and potential to make it big! you not only had an unbelievable amount of creativity when it came to the overlays but your editting skills were quite re-markable too. This Part really starts off well with the premise and leaves us with hopes and anticipation for Parts 2 & 3.

Your use of Sound Effects was highly impressive with your fusion of overlays!

All in All a great beginning that I would recommend to all!

Nuke Well in El Dorado!

Awesome work, George! I love how you've set up this story! The action, adventure, the characters, the drama - all of it has been top notch. I do think, however, that some of those edits were a bit shifty, but not enough for me to not enjoy the ride and be thoroughly entertained. Excellent work, George, and I can't wait for the other two parts!

Wow those SFX were awesome. The SFX were a key element to the movie and you did things with them I thought impossible till now. The VOs were all good and fit the characters well. I think this mini-series will be a big hit on TMO. Great Job!

Fantastic first part! The dialogue was great and perfect for the time period. Some were quieter than others and once drowned out by the music. The music cannot be faulted for it was perfectly picked for this film(madboss is a favorite of mine too). Creative and exciting characters with an amazing overlay battlew sequence. You perfectly cut and edited the fighting scenes to give an amazing original battle sequence not seen on TMO until now!
Loved the balcony scene and am still trying to figure out how you did that. ;)
