"Space, the vast emptiness of the abyss is out there to be discovered"

This opening sentence, narrated so well by JazzX, sets the tone for a sci-fi epic that takes the viewer on an emotional roller coaster that is 26 minutes of pure cinematic gold.

Interstellar space travel is in it's infancy and a crew of young explorers led by Zack Ruddock, son of the legendary Neil Ruddock, are about to begin on a journey that takes them to the far reaches of the galaxy..."to the vast emptiness of the abyss".

Part one of this masterpiece sets the tone of what dangers are to come. We learn the complexities of the Omega drive, and are introduced to this fledgling crew. Well told exposition is key to a films success, and the first chapter fully captures the essence of whats to come.

Structurally Nukester has created one of the most flawless films ever to grace the humble pages of TMO. The editing, mods, and camera work draw you in, and captures your imagination for the fastest 26 minutes I have ever experienced. Time literally flys by when watching this film.

How could I make this review without mentioning the voice cast? They breathe life into the well-written characters. The raw ability of the actors/actresses in this film astounds me. It IS the best cast I have ever worked with, and is my proudest VA acheivement on TMO. If ever someone asks what my favorite film is that I was a part of, without skipping a beat I'll say Interstellar Odyssey.

Nukester, my friend, I am truely honored to, once again, be a part of one of your films. From Fire and Forget 3 to Horror of the Werewolf, and now I:O, we have forged a patnership and a friendship that I truely cherish.

Long live Interstellar Odyssey.

The effects were great, and the voiceovers were wonderful, but, it got a bit boring, after the scientific part, it kindof, died down, untill the ending, which was good, but it couldnt really keep my attention.

Sci-fi's rarely come around in this fashion and I have to say that you have created an epic tale.

This is not a "TMO film", this is a "film film" with characters so realistic you can't help to love/hate them.Wonderful performances by an unbelievable cast and a dense character driven plot make this one hello of an opening. The editting was so realistic making 26mins feel like 10! That is a sign of a true director and film-maker.

Off to watch Part II

Thanks to your enthusiatic comments on my productions I was tempted into coming over, and just watched IO part 1 in full.

This is GREAT work, a real credit to TMO. This is the best voice acting I've heard so far... a large and talented ensemble of a cast and great choices as the lead roles.

I like the way this is building as a full length story with full characterisation - something rarely seen here (mainly due to the work involved).

My own silly comments now:

- Neil Ruddock.... wasn't he a footballer?
- Loved the wormhole presentation and diagrams :-)
- Great use of voice effects including radio transmissions and computer voices
- The General was my favourite character!
- Actress Rachel Devon is a fox! Is she from the StarMaker?

Anyway, I'll be reviewing part two soon.

Just so you know, Lost in the Forest episode 3 is now online at my studio.

An impressive piece of work. The custom sets and music were superb, the editing was first rate, and the effects were eye-catching in the extreme. The VO acting was also quite superior. The only digs I would put on this is that the story was a bit thin for the length and it moved a little too slow. It simply was just too long. It is still a remarkable acheivement, and for all the work, giving anything less that 5 stars would be a crime.

Good golly gee looks like we've upgraded on TMO. A story that didn't rely on action at all. Just great dialouge between great characters. The story is setup perfect. I'm glad to see it was made by one of the best directors on TMO Nuke. You did a great job. The cast did a great job. Everyone was right on. I didn't find myself checking the redskins score at all during this movie. Had me at full attention. I'm glad this was the first movie I watched since I've come back. Shows me that people will watch what is well made. Yet again you've made a masterpiece that shines bright for TMO or the real world.

Hello Nukester!
I'm very impressed by this fist part. You take your time to introduce the story and the characters. It's very well done. The editing is very nice, the select of the scenes, your use of the camera, the setdressing, the overlays, all of that is very good. The cast act very well, it looks like a real movie.
I aggre with the first description, it could be the most prolific sci-fi epic of The Movies.
Really good job. I'm going to watch the next part.

First Part introdruces the character slow, but every effective. Great direction, fantastic voice over and good music to the atmosphere make this first part rememberable. the way: are you physicist?^^

This is a sci-fi drama filled with wonder and adventure. This first part fills us in with just enough background on the universe we??re introduced to, and plenty of details about the characters. It??s also a technical marvel, both visually and audibly. Splendid stuff!

Overall enjoyment: 33/35. A very enjoyable first part, as we??re both introduced to the universe and characters, and are left with something of a cliffhanger. The only thing that brought it down a smidge for me was some of the melodrama ?? the scene in Zack??s quarters as an example.

Editing: 29/30. Visually, this has a clean editing style that makes it easy to follow. The flow of individual scenes is perfect, and the flow of the overall story is almost just as good. Scenes are selected exceptionally well, and the fine camera-work complements it. I did notice, however, quite a few shots where the lip-synch didn??t take ?? that coupled with something I??ll mention regarding sound took it down a single point here.
Overall, the sound production is fantastic. My only minor nitpick there was I felt that, on occasion, the music was just slightly louder than it needed to be ?? it sort of skirts the line of almost getting in the way of the voice-overs from time to time. Still, the voice-overs always come through crisp and clear; and the music does fairly well to set the mood of each scene. The most astonishing part of the sound editing involved sound effects and ambience ?? this was absolutely Hollywood-grade.

Production Value: 14/15. Well, this really ought to be a perfect score? but you missed something that??s a requirement: cast credits. I mean, I almost feel like a jerk docking for it, but it??s a hard and fast rule in my reviewing. Now, I suspect they will appear at the end of Part 2, but I like to see something (even if it??s just some static overlays) in each part of a series.
If I gave out bonus points (which I don??t), this film would be the only one I??ve seen to date to get them. Everything is stunning here ?? the costumes, props, set design, and overlay work are all filled with excruciating detail. The opening title sequence really sets the whole tone of the film and fills the audience with a sense of wonder.

Characters: 9/10. Some great characters here, with plenty of build-up. I??m detecting a fair bit of predictability, though, as they all seem quite stereotypical of this genre. (I can sort of guess some of what will likely happen in Part 2...)

Dialog: 9/10. Great dialog and writing most of the way throughout. I did almost groan a bit at the scene in Zack??s quarters, particularly with Vivian??s last line. Heh heh.

Total: 94/100.

5 stars! Another film for my archive, and I??ll be trying to catch Part 2 within the next few days!

Definetly one of the greatest films ever on TMO.

I've seen many movies on TMO that I thought would be good (such as Alletheo) but I was left with a sorry feeling in the bottom of my stomach. Luckily this isn't one of them.

There are some minor flaws in the film but you quickly forget them thanks to the great special effects. The script, however, is one of the best parts of this film. It is intelligent without being condesending, it gives you as much information as needed for a film that is just one part of a long series and it isn't too serious as there are elements of comedy in it. The cliffhanger ending also shows the great script writing skills and sets the series up for a great second installment

Another good thing about this film is that it is an inspiration to other movie makers. While it is clear that mods are used in the film there isn't the endless barage of them you get in films such as Alletheo. This shows that film makers who are intelligent can easily make a film as good as this with a little patience and links to the right websites.

One cannot review this movie without of course talking about the tremendous voice acting. All the performances are fully believable (something which is rare on TMO) and the wide variety of accents add something to the story showing us how Earth has been united in the 140 years from now until when the movie is set.

With all this in mind this is one of the few movies I've seen on TMO that is truly deserving of a 5 star rating and it leaves me eagerly anticipating the next film by nukester.

I didn't like the music much. It was slow and lips didn't move to the vo's sometimes, I know what you where trying to do but there wasn't enough depth in it to start slow, it needed a bit more exciting pace. but over all. good job.

As a sceptic of Sci-Fi... No matter what I heard, I didn't expect this to be as good as UberNewbie's Sci-Fi series' which make me a bit more open to Sci-Fi... But this is a legendary movie you've made my friend... This movie contains brilliant VO's, Excellent Overlays and awesome plot and character Development...
You're detailed diagrams were also great to see and I couldn't believe how much research you might have put into this movie.

The Mods were another aspect of brilliance. I can't fault this movie and I think it is a great movie... I don't know how long this movie might have taken you but I reckon that the effort was well put in. The camera-work and editting was another great part of this movie.

26 mins??? Felt like two... It was a combination of lightspeed adventure and witty dialogue that never made the movie boring.

Nuke I envy you... I am aspiring to create movies like this and I bid you good luck in your next movies... (time to watch part two!!!!)

Thought it was about time I caught up with some of the Nukester's movies and this looked like a fine and dandy place to start.

Thing is, when you have 14 pages of reviews for a movie, it's kind of difficult to say something that hasn't already been said.

There's a humongous ammount of work gone into this sci-fi epic and by god, it shows!

For me though, the greatest achievement here is that there is no sacrifice in quality in any department...storytelling, VOs, visual fx, sound fx, music, editing...all are absolutely top notch.

In terms of cinematic visuals and brilliant scriptwriting, it really doesn't get much better than this.

All I can say is...sorry I'm late Nukester!

A great start of what looks to be an amazing sci fi adventure. The time and meticulous effort that has gone into this film shows in every flawless scene. You've created a highly detailed future world and filled it with interesting characters. Best of all, the actors have really excelled at bringing these characters to life. I'm off to check out the second part now. Great work here, Nukester.

Even if perhaps this wasn't as good as Horror of The Werewolf, one of my alltime favourite movies on here, this was still a solid and worthy film.

Not much I can criticise that would help you to improve, mostly it was the length that was my concern - even despite the excellence of this production 26 minutes was stretching my attention span as any TMO movie would such is the nature of the game.

There is much to compliment here: the fantastic VOs from your leading actors and accomplished direction. Also, one thing that always stands out in your productions for me is the care you take when creating the characters and their facial features. It adds an extra level to the whole experience...the voices seem to fit the faces like no other studio produces.

First off on the one hand I wanted to say that I found it really entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed the visuals and the music. I think my favorite scene was the press conference, the professor really sounded like he knew his stuff. On the other hand (even though I know you probably started this film far in advance of Yodabob's) I had to agree totally with ubernewbie??s statement that this one seemed liked a stretched out version of Yodabob's Mars, as both had a very vaguely similar plot. Also as much as I liked the music scenery, and visuals, the Vo??s (despite being preformed by some of my favorite TMO actors & actresses) seemed somehow flat and somewhat emotionless. ??SPOILER ALERT!!!?? With this part being mainly intros and background info, I spent most of my time during this part impatiently saying ??come on, get to the launch already!?? Plus the ending was just a little confusing for me yes I know the ships had some problems. But I couldn??t really tell what had happened to our crew at the end of the film.

Overall: I would have to say that overall this film is very stunning in the areas of visual & sound effects, freecam, and scenery. Plus I could tell a HUGE amount of work went into the making of this film. All in all I thought it was a very good film well deserving five stars! Congrats, eagerly awaiting the launch of part two!

In a phrase...epic.

Great VO, set dressing, music and sound effects, felt like a right blockbuster nukester old boy.

What I will say (having listened to your tmoa interview) that it could turn out to be a bit lop sided in terms of story as this did feel at times to be one huge introduction. (I had the same thing with OIO3)

When I started to look at this film, and heard the script, I was more fascinated and impressed by it, than any other script I've ever listened to on this site. This is definetely the best script that has ever been written so far on this site.

The whole magnificent script made the movie very realistic, and sometimes humoristic. The voice-overs, the enviroment and the special effects were also great of course. I can understand if it has taken a long time for you to finish this movie.

Finally had a chance to sit down and enjoy this feature. It was great! I enjoyed the script for this film. Great dialgoue and introduction for all the characters! Gave one a chance to know each. The overlays, freecam and set dressing were all perfectly well done. It really immersed one into the world you were trying to create. To bad everyone died on the maiden voyage. :(
But what is this there is a conclusion? Could there be a chance of survival? Hmm. Guess I'll have to wait for a couple more weeks... double :(

This is one of the very few movies that has made it onto my psp!

Excellent atmosphere!

Beautiful Storyline

Immaculate v.o.

Amazing Music

Perfect Script

Nukey I think you scored with the golden ball on this one!

However... I felt all the way through the movie that there would be an amzing space adventure that would eventually lead onto an amazing series where Zack and vivian would build a good relationship and maybe even fall in love. For me I think you cut the movie before it had truly finished. It felt like the reactor problem (or whatever it was... I forget :p ) came out of nowhere and that stumped me a bit.

I would love for you to work more on this storyline and add a bit more Nail-Biting cruschendo's to the storyline.

But overall this is a 10/10 movie of which many people will enjoy tp the full.

Hmm. It wasn't that I didn't like it, it was that I was bored. From the beginning it seemed over the top. The opening and closing narrations were hammy in the extreme, and the rest of the dialogue was, well, clunky. I counted four instances of the word "shall" - people don't speak like that. Very little of the dialogue rang true to me. I was looking forward to watching this, I was disappointed. I hope people get better lines to say in the next one.

Brilliant Si-Fi! This problably is the best Si-fi I've seen on TMO. And I loved the fact that you used science in answering a questoin.

I am practically speechless. That has to be the best movie on TMO I have ever watched. The VAs did such a good job...Doc, Dulci, and k4 stole the show. I SERIOUSLY am speechless. That end scene really made me excited. I know that there's going to be a part two and I am so excited for that.

Oh wow, this is the biggest TMO movie since...uh I don't even know. Five stars? This deserves ten...doc's, dulci's, and k4's performances deserve ten stars. I honestly cannot believe someone was able to pull of such a good movie like this. Awesome direction nukester - awesome everything.

This deserves top place in the charts; this deserves the greatest rating of any other film I've ever seen. You really have outdone yourself with this, will part two be able to stand up to this??

This was a pleasure watching.

A stellar effort.

The Light Side - Well the narrative really set the mood for me. It really echoed 'Terence Stamp" and I got a kick out of it. There's been a lot of time and poured into to this feature and it it shows. I respect the hard work - the VO's are well done, the special effects are grand and the story translates well through some fine editing and design.

The Dark Side - The use of music really grated on me on several occasions. I really wanted to enjoy the story, I wanted to listen to what the characters had to say. I was engrossed in the film after the amazing intoduction. I first came to grief during the conference, the music was not necessary in my opinion. Several other scenes were overdone in this fashion and it detracted from my experience. Key scenes building the foundation of a story need to be easily absorbed by the viewer or the plot loses it's cohesion. Also I found the lead lacked a little strength of character - so far at least.

Really though, it's a fantastic job. You can probably tell by my name I'm a Sci Fi kind of guy, an entry into this category is always going to be highly scrutinized by me. It's a commendable effort marred only by some ill chosen musical direction. Execellent work Nuke and cast.

Damn, thats a great setup for a movie!... Some of the Very Best performances I have yet to see on TMO... Honest hard work on the film making itself... One of the few movies I have seen on TMO where the Music actually worked with the film...
and Along with the acting, the written dialog helps the actors rather than holding them back...

But with all this said... Its a shame that it had to end at the first commercial break. The intro for all the principal characters was good and all..but where is the story? You could end it here, and the story becomes that man exceeds his grasp once again... There was hardly a teaser to let me know that there even needs to be a next episode. That silly little complaint is the best I could do in finding any flaws in this Woderful Production...
Excellent work all those who's efforts were in this movie.
You all get 5 stars...

This is the perfect example of what can be done with the game. I can't find a flaw.

The writing is top notch. It's a well thought out script that takes a common sci-fi concept and pushes it in a new direction, and much further out too! There's not a slow moment to be found, the explanation of the background of the mission is well paced and not boring. Once the story picks up, it too is well thought out and paced. The banter between the characters is fantastic too; it sounds real. (I did however hope that the women's movement would have come further by 2146, and equality would be assumed)

The acting brings the script to life. A finer collection of Voice Artists would be hard to come by. Nothing sounds forced and the way they express themselves is quite believable. And if this isn't the definition of a cliff hanger, I don't know what is. you make us want, no NEED to see more.

The mods and set dressing are also some of the best seen on TM. You've done a great job in dressing the different sets to make us believe that it's all one ship. The press conference at the beginning is very well done too, it looks realistic. The dressing throughout seems natural and it doesn't look like any corners have been cut.

The direction is well, "nuke-tastic". Your use of shots and freecam placement is very professional. Close-ups, pans, surprising shots, static shots, they're all here. Nothing seems overused.

Overall, it's as close to perfect as you can get. The wait for this has certainly been worthwhile. A well deserved 2 star, I mean 5. Well done Nuke! Bravo! Bring on Part 2!

Wow, impressive movie ! I always liked space opera... A lots of work here, with a very good editing, nuymerous special effects, scientist explanations, a fine work on voice acting (what a cast !), a well written script and storyline, a good taste on costumes and sets choices, a nice work with the Starmaker, a good use of music and extra sounds, a very cinematografic rythm, etc., erm that's a lot of good ingredients ! Can't wait for the sequel. A five and more stars film, bravo !

Man has always wondered what is beyond our galaxy. We want to find what other lifeforms there are out there. Yet fate always seems to get a grasp on the situation.

The film is a cinematic genius. With a great musical score and a great cast, the movie straps you in and takes you for a cinematic ride as the plot unfolds, and the suspense builds until the shocking ending.

After the great set of charcters involved in the movie, there is no way this movie would fail. It had a well thought out plot, and some well acted Voice Overs.

The musical score was simply amazing. Expecially the final peice.

It recieves the 100/100 score from me. The Perfect Movie.

The best science fiction film on TMO has been unleashed!

THE GOOD: We review every film with constructive and detailed feedback. However, since this is our new favorite film on TMO, we want to make sure to address all aspects of this epic event.

THE STORY: It is everyone??s dream to reach out to the stars and explore the vastness of the unknown. Now most films with just start off as half way there, such as the crew waking up in hyper chambers. This film invites the viewer to ride along on the logic of what would most likely take place before the actual unprecedented journey launches. THAT is what makes this truly entertaining and intelligent film a higher caliber than the rest.

THE SCRIPT: Some films rely solely on special effects and fancy overlays to carry a weak or perhaps an unrealistic script. This script is the complete opposite. IO??s script is the backbone and heart of the film. To take the time to develop characters as appose to rushing into the action is nothing short of masterfully patient writing. The writing of these characters makes them so rich with life and realism. The use of so many characters is a daring and risky decision to make, as we all know, using too many can lose the viewer. This, of course, was not the case. Each character had distinctive individualities about them. From Lieutenant Vivian Wallace??s hard edge dialog to the captain??s background of his father, we see character development that pulls us in.

THE DIALOG: Believable and Entertaining are the two words that best describe the dialog of this epic film. Again, the richness of the characters is what the dialog delivers to the story. Not once did we roll our eyes at cheesy lines or lines that someone wouldn??t say. The tutorial the Professor gave at the beginning was so believable and fun to listen too, despite it was all fake. Lol. The interactions between characters was so lifelike and perfectly timed. We can tell painstaking effort went into making this realistic dialog.

ACTING: It looks like we have some actors we will have to take to dinner for our next films. Lol SailerNightWing??s performance was outstanding to say the least. Her determination to bring a hard edge, emotional and realistic performance to the scene pays off beautifully. Postmodernchuck??s professor was so believable and professional. He knows how to make the BS real! Lol Doc really blew us away with his performance; he is truly an overlook actor on TMO. He developed the Captain into a heartfelt and commanding character that we all would follow. Joseph was just perfect for the President. Now lets talk about our fiend JazzX?Holly macaroni! We were in awe over his narration. A deep and powerful performance that made us sit up. He really set the tone for the entire film

EDITING: This is the part were we give Nuk a high five! Rarely do we see filmmakers only use the static parts of characters in the scene. What I mean is, in every scene talking characters do the ??lean??, ??scratch head??, ??shrug: and so on. Most of the time it doesn??t fit into the dialog. Not since TCW series have we seen another film use mostly the still shots of characters. Without that annoying ??lean?? movement every 2 seconds, the film becomes completely original from the rest of the films on TMO. The editing on IO was the tightest we have seen. No unnecessary footage was left in, only what was needed for the story. Simply flawless.

SPECIAL EFFECTS: First of all, we hate you. Ok now that that??s out of the way lets move on. A spectacular show of science fiction special effects lifted an already impressive film to another level of excellence. From the opening star shots to the amazing ??explosion?? at the end, this film is like no other. The diagrams from the Professors presentation were perfectly done, believable and very professional looking

SETS: The landing bay, the bedroom with the Earth in the window, as well as the interior of the Odyssey2??s interior were so impressive and a real eye candy to enjoy. Every detail was so amazing to watch, we had to watch it twice. Simply marvelous!!

SOUND: First off, we really hate you. The sound of this film, and we say this with all sincerity, IS THE VERY BEST EVER HEARD ON TMO! From the slight echo of voices in the landing bay, to the fly by sound of the shuttle, this film??s sound is so remarkable. Every frame of this film had a unique and ear opening sound effect in it somewhere. Some sound was subtle while others dominated the emotion of the moment. Outstanding!

CINEMATOGRAPHY: The opening shot with the shuttle passing by the Earth accompanied by the great score was so George Lucas it made us sick?in a good way. Again, each shot in this film was well planned out and executed with filmmaking excellence. Pan shots, static, push ins and pull backs were all used like dialog to express the emotion of each scene. Just breathtaking!

MUSIC: Nuk??s music or completion of music was so perfectly placed in each scene. Like his incredible writing, the score was his second tool for unfolding the story. The music really took this film to highest possible caliber I think is possible to make on TMO. Well, until part 2 is release.

An excellent opening to what we know will be the Sci-Fi series of 2007.

Congrats and good luck!

What en ending, this is really completely Breathtacking!!!

I will be honest, usually, I am not a fan of sci fi movies adapted on tmo, I found them always identical and boring, with the same lazer sequences, and with silly fight against aliens, and with always the same control room..

But here, that was really brillant, because this is not what I have expected at all! Ok I knew you were very talented! But the script is also brillant, I love the way you take your time to develop this rich story and all theses attaching characters!

There was no language barriere, because it was so well done I could understand easily, and in the same time the plot was rich, complex and fascinating! We have everything in this movie, humor, suspense etc..

I like very much, the first scene where vivianne appears, the confrontation with zack was very funny^^ I love the general graham who is very charismatic.. The same for the character of postmodernchuck really well acted and attaching too.. In fact all characters were brillant and interesting! There is no flaw here, and the movie is never slow!

Yes, I found that the interview scene was really interesting! I am fascinated, by dark matter, wormhole and things of this type.. And this is the first time I see these types of things on tmo.. So it's a very very clever film, and I find that great! The beginning is awesome too, and since the beginning we are projected to a new universe, the universe of interstellar odyssey!!

Bravo Nukester, this is a wonderful achievement, and I hope all these compliments won't discourage to make a second part as great as this one! Good luck, and I will be here for the part 2!

(I love the conversation scenes between zack and his father, very moving, in fact I love every scenes of this movie, and the end is really incredible with these awesome overlays, and I have forgotten to point the great use of sound effects! Bravo once again!)

Great attention to character creation. The voiceactors did an impressive job. I enjoyed the opening narration. Camera usage was distinct but not distracting. An enticing space epic that has only just begun.

Some of the dialogue seemed to be intended just to reveal personality flaws and characteristics, and I would have preferred to let the characters actions unveil their motivations and personalities a bit more, rather than having it completely spelled out for us. Overall, though, the dialogue felt real.

A master piece is what i have just seen and im looking forward to part 2. I had to remind myself this was the movies and not a tv series

Story: Magnifeicent and it shows you don't need alot of action to be awesome. Its very compelling and the characters each have a uniqe personatilty that you can see and for some perhaps relate with. The story line had its comdy moments and moments that pulled at the heartstrings and the cliffhanger at the end leaves me drooling for more

VOs. Best V0s i have ever heard not a single crappy one in the entire movie i thought mars V0 was good and this tops it by a mile. The V0s have emotion behind them and are very beileveable voice acting at its best

The Movie: Im confused because i seen things i never seen before were those custom images and animations during the first part? Brilliant!. Editing and camera control at its best music and effects were done well it was all spot on well crafted masterpiece

Overall I love everything about it one of the best movies i have seen so far

Simply "Stellar"
From the opening introduction to the cataclysmic end, this film captivates you and has your senses hungry for more. Excellent cast one of the best (if not the best)on TMO. The amazing Mods and FX transport you to the Odyssey 2 as it prepares tolaunch on its maiden voyage. Once again Simply "Stellar"

Posted on April 3, 2007

I won't state the obvious here and what others have allready said a zillion times before, except that this is a phenomenal piece of work.
The dialogue was wonderful and engaging, and although all the cast was excellent, for some reason Postmodernchuck stood out to me as the most lifelike character to date with this medium.
Yes, it suffered the "first part syndrome", with all the exposition and establishing needed for what is to come, and therefore the balance between dialogue and action a bit off, but still, there were some great characters there (you got to love the General...)
Cinematography was wonderfull, varied and inventive, my favorite shot being the pull back from the blue painting in the bar and the launch sequence at the end. Awesome !
Overall an epic undertaking, both in the scripting of this journey as in the realisation of this wonderful movie. :)

Editing 3/4 :Mostly very good editing. The only complaint I had, is with the mouth shots. Too many and many didn't seem to serve any purpose other than a different point of view. Mouth shots are fine, but use them sparingly.
Dialogue 3/3 : The VO cast was outstanding and really added a lot to this movie. Great job in casting, even most of the voices were balanced well, and sounded to be mostly the same volume.
Plot/Originality 4/5 : Hard to give this a five, since it's only the first part. The ending was unexpected, but will see if the second part changes this. Original, and thought provoking, good job.
Entertainment 5/5 : This is movie is the closest I have seen to successfully making a movie longer than 25 minutes that can hold my interest, it still didn't suceed 100%, right around the 20 minute mark, it started to drag a bit, but it is a very well done space opera. Eager to see what you do for the second part.
Music/Sound 3/3 : Overall well done on the sound effects and the music was perfect for the background.
Total : 18/20 - 5 stars - Excellent

Wow. Despite being a 26-minute movie, I was captivated all the way through.

The space scenes were awesome. The music really set the scene, although some at the beginning REALLY reminded me of Final Fantasy 8. Probably just a coincidence though.

The character development was great. I LOL'd at the part where Zack first meets Vivian. The VOs were good, I thought those of Murpheykid and K4 where especially good.

The plot was obviously well thought out and well written, and there was a clever twist on the end.

Can't wait for Part 2! Great Job, Keep it up nuke.

Take two quarts of Sci-Fi genius.

Mix with a quart of daring, envelope-pushing movie making

Add two quarts of extremely well crafted voice overs

You'd still be short of getting the same exhilarating touch Nukester puts in this movie...

Beyond any doubt, this is the finest Sci-Film in TMO history. This movie will be the cornerstone upon which future Sci-Fi movies would be evaluated and few would even give it a fair competition.

In 1977, George Lucas has brought a new age into Sci-Fi movie-making with his special effects in Star Wars. No doubt, Interstellar: Odyssey would do the same for The Movies filmmakers.

Superb Sci-Fi creation, reminiscent of Stanislav Lem's greatest creations.

5 stars (but only because there isn't a 6 stars rating)

I've been looking forward to this movie basically since you released Horror of the Werewolf, so my expectations where extremely high when I finally had the time to watch it. And what can I say - I was both stunned by it's high quality, but at the same time a little disappointed.

This is, of course, nothing but a masterpiece in every technical aspect. Mods, sets, freecam, backdrops and all such was extgremely well crafted, and met my expectations fully. VO's were topnotch, and the characterisation was good too. Editing - the same there, extremely well put togheter. And now, when I write me, I realise that it's absolutely pointless to tell you these kind of things. Why would I even comment such stuff? I mean, you're the master on this, Nukey! :)

But, unfourtnately, I have complaints as well. This is more an introduction for the next part, and well, it also feels like it. 26 minutes is long for TMO Movies, and I must honestly say that it was a little too long in my point of view. Some parts could have been shortened or skipped without losing much for the actual movie. Also, it didn't really brought anything new to the table. It was a stunning moment, yes, but we have seen it before... or atleast very similar stuff.

But nonetheless - this is a TMO Masterpiece and won't be forgotten in many many years. And I have extremely high hopes on next part - this part has given me lots of interest to the next and final chapter of this story.

Hail to the king!

Part 1 of Interstellar Odyssey starts off on the right foot, and shows off its aspiration to be both a solid _science_ fiction ?? with emphasis on science ?? and a very interesting human intrigue as well.

I particularly like the casting. All the VO actors in the right roles really adds tons to making a movie more absorbing, and I must add my praise to all the voice talent that helped to make this movie come true.

I think your initial focus on human interactions and character backgrounds should lead to a great pay off in the next episode, even if I cannot say I was convinced by the relationship between Zack and Vivian ?? despite awesome performances by both by DocOnTheWeb and SKW. I must say Doc is really inspiring as the young captain. K4 was also so menacing in his role, one could not help but shudder.

The press interview scene and other scenes related to the mission were also captivating. A solid science fiction movie that relies on what we know, that is my type of scifi.

We know we are in the steady hands of a confident and talented director, and this journey will certainly be a memorable one for TMO.

Now this is remarkable, I really have no other word to describe it. An actual movie on TMO? Now this is so cool! Nukester, I hold you responsible for creating this beautiful film, lol. The voices, music, editing, everything was seamless, how you did it using the actual "The Movies" program is very impressive (knowing full well of complications within post-production many people have).

I felt a little distant when I heard it would be 26 minutes long but after watching IO, it flew by instantly. You have my full attention and I cannot wait for PART TWO. Simply astonishing work, no bs. :)

Now this is what i call a blockbuster movie hit!

this was your typical sci fi movie. This was superb nuke

The longest movie on tmo i saw and you made me sit right through it.

Now, the audio was superb. Great voice acting. Doc and Sailor a job well done and along with Chuck. the music was intense. The right pieces at the right time. The sound effects were just what made this movie better.

I must say Nuke you made the best sci fi on TMO. We hope to see more from you in the sci fi genre

Absolutely brilliant !!!
We defintely have to work together.
Everything about this movie was great to say the least...
When i saw 26mins i thought "u gotta b kiddin" ... but then i started
watching n before i knew it i was left in a state of 'Wanting'
I WANT MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My pick of the movies characteristics would be the sound effects and
the individuality clearly shown with regards to the characters.

That movie was remarkable. I had no intension of watching all 26 minutes of it but it hooked me in instantly! There has not been a movie on The Movies Online that I have seen that I would see again but everything was perfect. Unlike most other movies on TMO, the characters had distinct personalities which were extremely fun to watch. The plot was absolutely genius and was put together magnificently. This is with out a doubt, the best movie I have seen on TMO and shows tremendous promise to your studios future! I respect all of the time and effort you put into this. I cannot wait until the second part comes out.
p.s. I need a professional view on my new movie trailer "Internal Confusion" and was hoping I could get a review and advise on my upcoming movie.

Nothing to say about this will express the true intensity and emotion captured in this wonderful film. (Speaking professionally now :P) Nukester has created the most remarkable TMO film to date. Amazing voiceovers, an awesome plot, everything is simply magnificent. Well worth the wait. Sci-Fi has never been as captivating as this motion picture. It's length doesn't matter, as it seems only to be 10 minutes because of how it sinks you into it's plot.

Okay.. now that we're done with professional speaking, here's a more... erm, unprofessional review.

Oh my goodness, this movie ROCKS! It was sooo AWESOME! I loved EVERYTHING, the VOICEOVERS, the MUSIC, the-- EVERY-FRIKKIN'-THING! This movie will PWN you and then PWN you again until you can't be PWN'd no more which seems impossible because of how PWNING this PWNING movie IS! 5 frikkin' stars baby! 5! FRIKKIN'! STARS!

And don't take that rating lightly. Just so you don't...

Nukester truly shows off his breathtaking talents of film-making and makes an astonishing movie, for all ages to enjoy! Nukester finds great talents and chemistry in the Voice actors. Docontheweb & Sailorknightwing have amazing on screen chemistry. The sound effects in I:O astounds me as my mouth stayed open through the whole film.

I have to say, this is a masterpiece. I was glued to the screen all the time. Can't wait for the next one.

It's sorta like Asimov in Machinima. You know I can't say anything more that hasn't already been said in these reviews except that; if you don't know who that is, look it up and enjoy the feeling.

The v/o's were outstanding of course; but the audio engineering was superb, all those voices from around the world mixed into the same 'room' is a LOT of work, well done.
Music was relly well mixed into the movie, coming up and subsiding like a pro job.
Your overlay animation was just right, well conceived, and nicely timed.
I'm looking forward to seeing the next one!

Nukester... you have achieved something special here. I was totally blown away!

First thing that came apparent to me was the epic feel you managed to instill. Really got the impression of something HUGE! At the same time (at least during the press interview) I felt like I was watching a science lesson... lol But that shows how much effort you went to to make the whole thing "genuine".

Let's not forget the characters! They were superb! I particularly like hating the General (if you get what I mean). Very well done. (K4 does own all!)

Oh, yes, the SOUND EFFECTS! Totally blew me away. Combined with the perfect camera work (particularly the close ups) gave this film a great feel. Most notable was when the O2 was firing up the engines and jumped. I literally had tingles going up and down my spine!

BRILLIANT BRILLIANT STUFF!! I may have to make up an Award, just so I can give it to you! :) (The "BiggsTrek Totally Blown Away Award"?! :) )

Can't wait for part two at the end of April! :) :) :)

Ok Nuke, here goes. A solid 5 from me. You told a ambitious, plot driven story within the setting of space travel, and propelled it forward with character interaction, very nice f/x, well planned cinematography, excellent use of all the tools available. This is likely one of the most ambitious and well planned ventures into this genre on TMO. You deliver a quality film, despite some very very minor flaws, none of which I will even point out as they are of no consequence to the final product. This is a real achievement Nuke, and I'm impressed. You are working in the realm of epics, and my only sugestion is stay true to your vision, as thats whats going to make this work. You will get alot of reviews saying all sorts of things, but this film is, and this is just my humble opinion, worthy of every moment you spent making it. The cast and those that helped you should be very proud of the work presented here.

The cast was excellent, even in those few moments with clunky chit chat, but again, you pulled of a 27 minute film that sailed on by. I didnt look at the clock once, and thats saying something!!! Nice work Nuke, very nice work.

Sorry for the late Review...

I'm afraid that you have created the best film for this genre on this site. I am very lucky to have seen the premiere. Unfortunatly I couldn't review it until now. But, on to the Review:

The thing that made this film special was the animated overlays, they added so much to the film, along with the amazing cast. To be honest, I really never saw any faults apart from the occasional cut that was a fractio of a second out, but then giving it a star less seems not right, as the rest of it was flawless, one scene with a fraction of a second wrong can't effect a 20 minute plus film.

So, basically...

Man i so wanted this to be fantastic. Felt very much like a stretched out version of Yodabob's MARS. Some nice free cam and good work on the press-conferance, but the whole film left me wanting. I couldn't emote with any of the characters and i felt the music was just a bit of with the gradiousness of the moment. A Great film and worthy of the Four stars.

Don't read. Spoiler inside!!!

It's only the begining and I'm sure there not dead. I want the next part now!!!
I think it's the best sci-fi movie I saw on TMO. It makes me think of Asimov's book sometimes because of the science part of the story. I can't really say the scenario was perfect, cause this part was more an introduction than something else, but i'm sure next part will be awesome!

Time will be soooooooo long until 27th April

Amazing. Simply Amazing.

You've done well with every aspect of the game you set out to challenge. As seems fitting for the film, Mission Accomplished.

To begin, your amazing cast of characters both voice and the creation of their character through script is well done. You crafted each from hand, it shows. Although at times I think some background was a bit forced, I understand the purpose. While I'm nearly always opposed to inter-film flashbacks, I don't think you abused the power within the confines of your film.

Now, to what I loved. Sound Effects. When watching a Machinima film the true test of realism is in sound. Both the combination of voice and music play a large part in that, if we're captured by the music that whips around the characters who's voices we need to connect with. But the sound effects go unnoticed by most, subconsciously they are a key factor in the film.

When your ships take off, they have a unique sound effect. Many aspects of your film, including a ship gearing up for launch [near the end] are unique effects that are the shading to your masterful painting of pictures. That corner of depth and detail that finalizes the purpose. Before the ship, near the beginning, jumps to hyper speed, it has a sound effect that explains the action. You used it to stay away from some obvious bits of dialog, and so the overall script was improved.

The script was well written. I must admit, some scenes were of bit of an awkward romance that seemed so expected it couldn't be true, and to obvious to be real. However, for the most part, your characters are as deep as the story and space we travel into. Film is about telling a story with pictures, and your pictures are splendid expressions of your words.

Overall, a great film. I would advise everyone to watch the film, but I fear they already have :D

That was just like a theatrical film. Breath-taking visuals, wonderous sound effects, and perfect music choice, and that's just my review of the intro! The voice performers were magnificient, if I do say so myself, and they really made the characters come to life. I love the interactions between the people and you were made the audience feel for some, while loathe others. I liked the flashback sequences as well, I can tell they'll play an important role in the conclusion to follow (April 27th, seems so far away). Your extraordinary effort truly paid off; congratulations on your latest epic achievement. Consider me nuked.

The freecam, sound-editing, custom background shots, animation, powerful story, I could just keep rattling on about its merits my head is spinning. The voice-overs was so powerfully acted it was just great. I'm simply running out of words to describe this.

Well I'm glad to see that this movie had certainly grabbed my attention! The special effects and voice overs were very well done, each voice fit well with each character. Though a lot of the dialogue was extremely unbelievable most noticeably between the Captain and his Lieutenant Vivian.

The music and the pacing was well done, sometimes certain shots were over used and other shots dragged on for too long but it was certainly well executed. Unfortunately, the entire thing felt like a gigantic introduction intended for a much, much larger movie. It would be a bit more understandable if this was a 2 or 3 hour movie but for something that has to go on The Movies online I feel that the intro was much too long and could have used more cutting.

However, unlike other movies I certainly didn't fall asleep through this one and I enjoyed it very much! Great job!

Watching this film reminded me of Apollo 13. The movie script was very well written and definitely a good selection of VO cast. There were a few lines which were hard to hear or felt forced/without emotion when needed. The backdrops were spectacular and the animation was like no other...(alot of time and effort went into this and it showed). The music was very well chosen but felt some scenes could have used additional music too move the scene along since this film is more based on movie plot and character development than action (which isn't a bad thing). Sound effect were perfectly placed and used for laser, explosions, space & space craft and voice overs effects. Great use of free cam making each scene feeling unique... Really good use of mods...

Overall even with a few flaws (In my opinion) this is a great film... All the time and energy you put in this film really show and is more than a deserving 5 star film....

Technically, this is a very sound film, its most impressive aspect being the special effects, although there were very few of these extravagant scenes for a film of this genre. This movie also uses sound in ways that I have not previously seen before on TMO. Although I suspect that the movie everyone has really been waiting for is still yet to come with part two, I have to be honest and rate this part on its own merits. The most inherent flaw is that the film is too talky. Remember that film is a visual medium and although some stories require dense dialogue-driven plots, it doesn't seem like this film should be one of them. This movie is being marketed as an epic sci-fi adventure when it is mostly an earth-bound melodrama.

The story seems to be well-conceived even though it relies on many of the same old science fiction cliches. The sets and backgrounds never failed to perfectly match its respective scene. However, I do think the cinematography could use a little work. You use a ridiculous amount of angles for each and every conversation and it detracts from the conversation more than it should. Then on other occasions you would repeat the same shots over and over. Seeing all of those tracking shots of characters' feet led me to believe your foot fetish was more extreme than Quentin Tarantino's.

My final critique has to do with the story and its presentation. In general, the movie is very lacking in subtlety. Character's always seem to want to freely express their emotions, even to those they barely know. This is simply not realistic and it took away from the film's sense of realism making the material less relatable. There is also a noticeable lack of subjectivity and although the pacing is excellent, the actual narrative content is less than stellar since I was hardly intrigued until the last five minutes of the film. Also, the voice-over narration that bookmarked the film was way over-the-top. Overall, you have still accomplished something quite impressive here and although I may not recommend it as an epic masterpiece, it is still worth watching for those few effects shots and the generally impressive voicework.

Movie making history on TMO, simply brilliant in every way and by far one of the best Sci-Fi movies I've ever seen here. The characters felt developed and real, the editing was equally as stunning and the concept truely marvalous. I very much enjoyed this episode and I will be waiting with baited breath for the next part to see what happens next. Nukester. This was Nuketastic. Funky I mean of course :) The script was one of the very best I have ever seen on TMO, the voice actors are already well known as very talented and once again docontheweb, postmodernchuck and sailorknightwing gives life to their characters. Very exciting and the mods were beautiful. The dialogue was also very believable and the whole situation/story as well. One thing I hate about this movie: movies with several parts ALWAYS ends were the best part begins. In other words: This movie is a PERFECT tmo-creation and I cannot wait for part 2. God knows I have spent a lot of time waiting on this epic.

5 FUNKY Stars, without a doubt! //Towelie

This whole film is an epic that belongs on that list of TMO classics. To tell you the truth, I forgot it was even a TMO movie. You are truly a talented filmmaker. Wow. That was incredible. The best sci-fi picture of the year (until part 2 is released). I am just shocked. I think I might cry.
Alright, here I go. The film was brilliant. The music, the VOs, the sounds, the atmosphere, I litteraly felt like I was in this place that had enough sci-fi elements to be futuristic, but not so many that it felt unrealistic. The story was captivating and after reading the script it really shows how much things are rought to life. You have are a God of a movie maker like I've never laid eyes on. You thrilled us with Fire and Forget 3, you chilled us with Horror of the Werewolf, but you left us salivating and grasping our compuer screens with Interstellar Oydessey. I don't think that the Top Movie position will be changing for a while because right now, it has I: O written all over. I just can't believe I got the chance to take part inthis production. Stupendous job once again.

Can anyone say...perfection?

Highly acclaimed film director Nukester blasts us a hundred plus years into the future, to witness the unveiling of the Omega Drive, a powerful device that will be allow a small crew to jettison to a distant star-system. Incredibly written, Nukester's supercharged script completely leaps out and electrifies viewers to great extent...and that's only the first few minutes. The first volume of "Interstellar Odyssey" builds itself, gaining momentum, and I can honestly say that I groaned as the clock ticked forward...I wanted this incredible movie to last longer and longer. It is the definition of spectacular.

Edited to the pinnacle of perfect, the film is finely tuned to so many different degrees. Its outstanding, and by the time the first five minutes are over, it registers the monumental amount of time and work put into his truly fantastic feature. Cleanly cut, the movie slides past keeps itself strong in all the right elements. It builds every single character up perfectly, each of them (Even the extras who are given one-liners) acted to perfection by every individual amazing cast member. You can easily watch this film and say that Nukester has handpicked many of TMO's finest for a role in this incredible movie.

The voice actors, as aforemented, are amazing. They show incredible emotion in their voices, and do great justice to Nukester's amazing script...its beautiful to see such talent enacted on-screen. They bring life to their characters, each of which has been described in the film greatly...we get to see their flaws and their strengths, their thoughts and their emotions...this movie is PERFECT.

Nukester quickly masters this repsective genre perfectly...there are no flaws. The end product is a beautifully made, powerful, intense, incredible, awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping, wonderful, spectacular, amazing, heart-stopping, eye-popping masterpiece that never fails to entertain and astound is easily among the finest films on TMO, and always will be. THIS MOVIE IS PERFECTION.

In the end, all I can say is that I will be counting the seconds until April 27th comes along and we get to see the conclusion of this amazing picture.

You had my attention right from the breathtaking introduction, the superb narrative, with just enough reverb to set the mood, really pulled me in.

The Press conference was a wonderful way to introduce the story, the amount of work that has gone into this was obvious from the very beginning, the press conference even had slides to accompany the very well written briefing - amazing.

The introduction of each character with a glimpse into each personality is professionally done and you cannot help but be drawn in, each is interesting in their own way, and the back-stories really help you care for and understand the motivations of each.

Superb Voice overs from the vast cast really helped bring wonderful script to life.

There was an epic, cinematic atmosphere about this whole production, the silences played as greater part in creating this atmosphere as the wonderful musical score did.

Add to this some inspired camerawork, the wonderfully natural back and forth dialogue, genuinely interesting three-dimensional characters and an intelligent and intriguing plot. All of this makes Interstellar Odyssey Part One the pinnacle of Sci-Fi of TMO.

I can honestly say this film has left me in awe.
Not only will I be back for part 2; I'll be watching part one again before its release.

Outstanding Work!

Holy Moly!! That was brilliant Nuke, i am speechless. In my opinion, the most professional and complex sci-fi movie ever to hit tmo. It was really well made, everything in this movie is wonderful, from the out-standing sets, the amazing free-cam work, the fab music which really suited the scenes it was used in. Also, the sound-effects were out of this world, they created the atmosphere very well. This movie was really well paced and the story flowed very well.
Excellent character development, the voice-over were out-standing, by far the best cast on tmo. I loved this nuke, the animated overlays were unbelievable, i couldn't take in what I was seeing. I felt like I was watching a real movie, it was intense and so entertaining!!! Man, this is mind-blowing. You are so damn clever to off made this movie! Nuke, you are a genius and a really talented director on tmo. Every movie you make is excellent, with your first hit, Fire and Forget 3, you showed us that you were excellent at making a very enjoyable action flick, then you released HOTW and that was excellent as you had made something vastly different, a horror movie which crossed genres, i love that.
And finally, here we are with your 3rd big film on TMO, I:O, which is a land-mark in film-making and will go down in tmo history as one of the finest sci-fi movies ever to be made. I really can see you have worked your ass of Nuke and it sure as hell has worked. You are an excellent director that I love to see new movies from, each new one you make is so unique and different from what you released before that before you know it you'll be the only director on tmo that can do Action [Fire and forget 3] really well along with a very enjoyable horror movie [HOTW] and sci-fi [I:O] and several other genres. All you gotta make now is a really good drama or comedy movie then you've dominated every genre there is to do on tmo nuke! I know you can do it as i really am blown away by the work that has gone into I:O!
Holy cow!! It was breath-taking, i wish you the best of success with this movie, it is defiantly a treat to watch and very enjoyable throughout.
I know the cast, down to everyone involved will be blown away by this, 'cos I sure as hell was! My god, that was just out of this world! in a good way of course!! LOL!
Excellent ending btw.
Overall, a very stylish sci-fi which has been written very intelligently and cleverly. Damn, it's been one hell of a journey through those 26 minutes and I got through it as it was paced so well. Congrats on that dude. By far the best sci-fi tmo movie to ever be made! I LOVED THIS!! I LOVED IT!! Great job. Excellent work in every aspect, this film is so enjoyable, it is funny in some-parts and just so much more. You have defiantly delivered a fine sci-fi. I loved this, thankyou ever so much for making it. You rule Nuke!!!
You are a god!!! Especially, a god of sci-fi movies indeed and action and horror as well. Can't wait for part 2 nuke!

Amazing, I'm quite speechless...where to start...

The characters are voiced to perfection giving them a very realistic addition to the dialogue that has been beautifully crafted. The character interactions have to be one of the best parts of this movie and the level of detail put into each characters personality is astonishing.

The sound effects for this movie are some of the best on TMO adding to the atmosphere for example the engine room. The reverb effects in the shuttle bay is probably my favourite touch.

The music that has been implemented not only to me felt like it suited it perfectly but also gave this movie the feel of epic, giving the mood and feel that entirely suits the movie.

The free-cam was used to its fullest to create new and interesting camera perspectives. My favourite would have to be the use of free-cam close up on the other starship model to give the effect of the omega drive powering up.

And then finally (I think) the overlays, these were I think all just planet and explosion shots but they were spectacular. I cannot say anymore.

Overall I can say without a doubt that this is a TMO GEM.

Utterly breathtaking and you leave it on a cliffhanger, something I wasn't expecting. Bring on Part 2

Strider Out!!

From the first minute, i was scared that nukester had gone and done a 2001: "La da da da da, boring boring" but fortunately, the movements of the ships were faster, and then something wonderful happened. Dialogue!
Yes, a scene of dialogue to explain what on Earth, and space, was going on, and you know something, it's pretty educational, Futurama makes a little more sense now.
From this scene with some charasmatic journalists, we bein the tour of the crew and headquarters in the necessary character development sequence, containing one young hotshot wanting to prove that he is who people think he is, a legend but young, a female liutenant who has prejudices and been part of them, the blonde haired jock who will turn out to be the guy who will save the crew, if they are still there, from the Robot, who will turn psycho by the end, if he's still there.
After all is said and done, there isn't much plot yet, making it the weakes of nukester films, but what it does lack in plot, it maes up with intriguing characters, fantastic ideas and overlays, and amazing performances throughout, so roll on Part 2, and Day 2.
