***END UPDATE***

This music video is my first attempt at such a movie. The video is a stand alone story, that is highlighted by the music, complimenting it (hopefully!)

I have used many overlays, custom costumes and the like. Special thanks to the great modders of the community who contributed (indirectly) in the production of this short video. In particular, Daninsky's Sets As Set Dressing (and others), plus rileyman for telling me about the proper overlay size! Saved me lots of time and trouble!

(And the answer to your question is: 'paradox' --- Luckily, no-one has asked the question, yet!)

Cool music video, Biggstrek. The plot-line of jumping to alternate realities to find a better life works very well with the song's lyrics. The twist near the end ties the storyline up nicely. 5 stars.

Good song and an entertaining visual story to go along with it - I liked the teleport effect and I was fooled by the "letting-hair-down" special effect, very good.
Funny opening in the bar as well.

A very good music video.

I greatly enjoyed the musical score, the teleport effects & the scene camera, ambience & weather effects. An interesting story.
The 6 pages of reviewers were all 5's. That is unusual to see. I do not rate the story as that compelling. Interesting, just not compelling. However, since I have rated productions of less credibility @ five this one certainly deserves a high rating just on the music & tying the story line to the sentiment expressed in this very good musical score.
I will look forward to your next production.
Adios, JdlVZ

This is definitely one of the better storyline music videos that I have seen on the site yet. Great use of freecam and props to make things fresh and fun. The sideways shot of the gunfight made me envious of your technical skills. The woman running off with the closeup of the scanner is another great shot. It reminded me a bit of Punk the Zombie in its ability to tell a story very effectively with no VOs or subs. Nice roundabout story and good song as well.

Now that was a good music film, there are a lot music videos without song using permission or just, a bad not fitting film. But your truly was really well done! good job =)

This is one heck of a fun music video, with some fine camera-work and absolutely brilliant production work.

As this is a music video based upon someone else??s work, I am using a template I that??s sort of a mix of my music video and narrative ratings.

Overall enjoyment: 31/35. I quite enjoyed this, but must admit to feeling some confusing as to how all the visuals were matching the lyrics. With the way this ended, what I took away is that the whole sci-fi part of the video was more a dream sequence. By interpretation is that the main character is letting his imagination run while he??s presumably passed out after drinking too much. This whole video is perhaps abstract enough that everyone will view it in a different manner.

Editing: 28/30. Visually stunning in just about every sense. Use of free-cam and fades is perfect throughout. The animations as the character is warped to other ?? ??dimensions?? I??ll call them (was he being transported through time? To alternate universes?) ?? is woven in perfectly. I got the sense that you exported the visuals and worked those in with absolute precision. My only concern visually was a few shots near the beginning were very dark, and I simply couldn??t see what was happening even after multiple viewings (this may have contributed to the confusion factor). I also thought it would??ve neat to add some kind of sound effect when the character was being transported. ;)

Video / Music Synch: 18/20. If I had only watched this once through, I may have given this a 16 here, due to that confusion factor. I became more comfortable with how the song and lyrics were matching things a second time through. The beginning scene in the bar, and the ending after the music is finished, add some context for the rest of the video.

Production Value: 15/15. As music videos go, this is the best production work I??ve seen. Costumes, props, and sets are all chosen well. The opening title and credits work are all superb, and the overlay work during the video itself is absolutely stunning.

Total: 92/100.

5 stars! And I??ll be keeping this for my archive.

My suggestions: Not much here I can offer, but I??ll try with this: For those shots that come out dark, consider either finding another scene & camera angle, or using different lighting and some overlays to fine-tune the brightness (or lack thereof). This game sometimes has scenes that simply come out too dark, and it can be a tricky thing to work around.

I've seen this advertised loads and not watched it as the thumbnail put me of for some reason.

Today I decided to give it a go and I really loved it. The story was great and the song was cool too, I've never heard of Ally Miller before and I do like his sound.

I loved the time travel aspect and the custom overlays and stuff were all great, I aspire to be able to make a movie that good.

Wow, that's a great song and your video did it suitable justice. All the custom effects and graphics that went into it shine throughout.

Bravo!!!! At first I thought it was just going to be some movie with a music video set behind it. But it turned itno something so much more. I loved the effects...i loved the way you made everything alien moving around on its own, loved the teleport. Loved how it all went full circle. Nice work all around and a good song. 5 stars EASY!!!!!

This song is very cool. Ally Miller deserves more recognition because this song is better than 99% of the crap out there right now.I can see why you chose it for your video.

I thought you did an incredible job at making this song come to life visually, given the limitations of this game. The time displacement idea was very clever and allowed you to vary the location settings nicely.

The overlays were simple and effective, I've tried to do a video myself (my first film) and it was not easy keeping things locked up, nor did I show the level of imagination you did in your video.

You've made funny entaining movies before, and this another great example to add to your collection.. and mine!

cheers,

gp

Yes! I love those paradox stories! Travelling around through time making his life better only to be undone by his own initial brutality and greed. The lyrics perfectly match the theme of the story. Those that try and cheat in life eventually have it come back at them is the theme of the film. It's a wonderful lesson to learn and expertly told. Well done music video.

You know, I really don't much care for music videos....but I guess I'll have to make an exception for this one cause....well, it was great!

"Some of Us" is a really fun song, which I liked from the first time I heard it. And knowing your work, I knew that your music video for it would be, at the very least, entertaining and probably amusing as well.

Little did I know what gears were turning in your head when we talked about this project. This is a music video that could stand on its own as a movie - with dialogue, this film would be climbing the charts even if it used in-game music. It's imaginative, technically superb, and a great mix of equal parts romance, comedy, and science fiction.

This is one I'll be watching again - and like all good music videos, I'll always see this when I hear "Some of Us"

Amazing work, Phil!

I love the story you´re telling here - I´m a great fan of music videos telling a story, and the way you told it is great! Everything fitted: cam angles, the overlays, the timing, all the little details, the special effects - this made me smile, and fitted perfectly to the great music! Great!

That was awesome !
A tremendous amount of work in this movie,
with much attention to the little things.
Love the overlays, the camera angles, the props,
the repetitive element at the end, surely the music
but most of all the creative brain behind all of this.
Very original and very well excuted.
Excellent job, biggstrek :)

Simply great!
The music is fantastic, and so is the story... it almost fits into the category in what you (Biggstrek) did with one of your other movies, telling a story without any words (though we do have the music lyrics this time for help). This one is more than worthy of topping the charts!!!

Biggstrek and Ally Miller, BRAVO!

One of the greatest films I've seen in ages!

Your filming is amazing, creative, and innovative. Really well done.

Prop placement was incredible, you created environments were a mastery of the game. You also used a bit of advanced modding, in the prop movement, to bring alive the world around the characters. Overlays played a secondary role in forwarding your story. Very well done, in your ability to show us what transporting looks like once, enough that a simple glimmer and a body hurl become an understood scene.

Without dialog, you created a story. Difficult for some to really understand, your film, as you said, didn't need music [although it adds a smile and easy listening] and could've stood alone as a silent film. Some of your best shots, are when he watches the girl in the street, and you show his face, the horse, and his face with new emotion. The Measure of a true filmmaker, is when he can master the poorly designed emotion of The Movies game. You have really challenged yourself, well done.

Free cam work was a strongpoint all the way through, start to finish. The western scene, to me, highlights the best. Although, throughout really, you used camera angles effectively, when he wakes up to a sideways world if expresses emotion without dialog or sound, confusion is apparent within seconds. You show the German general in the streets, and all you need to do is transfer camera angles, and you've completed silent dialog and vialized a character. Again, well done.

Music. Need I really say more?

Quality, really just a quality film. I hope you steal the charts, but given them back :D. I'm watching it again, and I'm very glad I saw the film, everyone should watch the film. It is a useful expense of a few minutes of time, a four minute masterpiece, and... well... I liked it :D

Well Done
