I like History and movies about WWII, so I was very interested by your movie. I'm not disappointed by the story about this guy. It was a good idea to speak about Dieppe, a little desaster which is not very well known.
The work on the voices was really good and give personnality to the characters.
you've made good editing, the fight scenes were well built.
So, I'm going to watch the next part.

I've had this bookmarked ever since I heard a bit of the radioplay version on TMOA. An excellent first part to the movie, nice choice of music used they fitted well. The camera work and editing really helped to set the whole thing up and kept it fresh.

The plot was great with great dialogue exchanging between characters all done by an excellent Voice cast.

I'm off to watch part 2 now.

Wow Riley, this was your best film yet. Let me tell you, you did a splendid job at a WW2 film. You set the scene, the set and the mood of this film. You made The Movies music suit quite well. I loved the introduction titles with the soldiers next to their name-howd you do that? the fight scenes were splendid and well edited. You did some good editing in the barracks too. Sucks how Caen couldnt be like it was in WW2, but you used the urban city street just fine. You made the romance/tension between each of the characters real.

Overall, a great job and cant wait to see part2 later on the week.

Great job!

A large production by Rileyman. Part 1 of this epic film, introduces us to the characters and gets the drama of their combat situation started. The plot starts developing as we follow the storyline and the character Lance Holmes.

Very good editing and camerawork. Good use of music to score your film. The voice actors did an excellent job. Did you lose one of your voice actors or was it by design to use the same vo for 2 parts ?

A lot of time and effort went into this project and it shows. This war film has a riveting story embedded in it which helps give it the extra spark. There are several places in this film with areas of ??downtime?? which could have been streamlined with editing.

A strong first part of this ambitious project and I will be able to culminate the full picture after I view part 2..

Excellent professional movie making. This deserves 10 stars.I dont regularly like war flicks but this was very well done and very entertaining. Please come visit my studio, I would really appreciate ratings from a pro like you, only PLEASE dont watch She Ghost, I put no effort into making that movie. I only made it cause I needed to earn some $$$ to buy a set Ive been wanting to make my next movie. Please rate my other movies. I have some funny spoofs, some westerns and a love story that are much better than She Ghost. If people keep waisting their time watching that one instead of my better movies Im going to take it off line. Thank You for sharing this work of art, now let me share mine with you. I'm a sucker for war flicks, and this has gotta be one of the best on TMO. The editing was flawless as was the VO, the music fit it like a glove and the story was epic. The end is certainly a surprise and I look forward to the next episode!

The BAD:

I felt that perhaps there was too much of the movie there for it's own good, and not enough action for a flick of this genre. Seemed like it's climax was largely underminded by the rest of it, not a good thing in my opinion.

Being a big fan of war movies and knowing how difficult it must be to try and capture the look and feel of combat, I think you did an excellent job. When I watch a movie, I look for story, character development and flow. I think the story (or plot) was well laid out and I could follow it rather easily. Basically, if I don??t have to rewind the film to figure out what??s happening, you??re doing something right.

The voice actors did an excellent job providing genuine emotion in their performances to bring life to the characters. I know the story is mostly about one soldier, but it would be nice to see a bit more development of the rest of the team. If I??m to care at all about them, I have to know something about who they are.

I feel the flow (or pacing) of the movie was almost perfect. You provided an excellent and extremely captivating beginning and a middle that sustained the story and developed the main characters. However, the ending was a bit flat. I know there will be (or is) a part two, but every movie must be able to stand on its own. The battle at the end seemed rushed somehow. I know war movies can get confusing during battle scenes, but you owe it to your audience to keep things clear. The ending battle scene seems to be detached, as if shot from a birds-eye view.

Technically, the film is just about flawless. Editing, camera work and sound were all spot-on. If I don??t notice an effect, then it must have felt natural. There is nothing worse that having to be reminded that you??re watching a movie because you ??notice?? an effect.

Overall, you did an excellent job with this film. It was thoroughly enjoyable. Great work!

The Archaic Awards

Story: 8/10 The story was good, but it really didn't pick up until about 2/3 of the way through the movie. I didn't mark you down too badly for that because this is only part one. I felt the cliffhanger could have been a bit stronger, but other then that a great effort!

Music: 5/5 Music was used well. Great job!

VO/Subs: 10/10 All voiceovers and subtitles were excellent! JazzX and yourself stood out in my mind as some of the better VA's of this film.

Script: 5/5 A very good script! It had everything that was needed.

Extras: 5/5 Great mods, great freecam, great everything!

Editing: 13/15 Overall the movie was a bit long and it really moved slowly. If there is anyway you can keep my interest that would improve the movie. It was quite well done though so I have to say great job!

Final Score: 46/50

Lucindamc123 - official reviewer for Silver Rock Entertainment

BOREDOM FACTOR - 100% (not bored) - 0% (Bored)

100% I was not bored at all.

Beautiful acting

Subtitles should have been voice overs instead, except when each character and actor is shown.

Beautiful, artistic battle scenes. The only thing I would have liked to see was more contrast between the homelife scene cabin and the battle scene.
Cabin - For contrast it would have been better to use a backdrop of a more pastoral English countryside type house and the interior of the 30's living room.

The field was a little drab. Should have had some buildings in the distance, tanks, jeeps, etc.

Beautiful effective use of the music and all the voice over sounds were excellent.

Beginning credits would have been more effective using a voice over and showing different scenes of 15 seconds each of different locations, soldiers, homelife, etc, Normandy, etc.

The scene where four of the soldiers are talking in a group in front of the Municipal Building should have had dialogue or should have been cut to show just one scene closeup and one from a distance - each only 15 seconds each.

The campy body postures and movements should have been cut - for instance when Lance and Stephanie turn and look up and when the Fellow at the desk - I think he was the Major was pensive by the window - should have cut out the putting hand to chin.

All the battle scenes moved very quickly and were dramatic.

More dialogue needed in scenes where people are together, more shouts in the battlefield, etc.

FINAL SCORE 95% 5 stars

Sigh. The marvels of high defintion movies cannot be beat, that is for certain. Just seeing every detail of ones scene on a 15" screen with no quality loss is just sublime. Though it does allow one to see all the flaws too(look at the door mat around 7:00, I got a chuckle).
But none of that detracts from the story whatsoever. It was superbly written and executed from the historical subtitle notes to the stunning free-cam work. I enjoyed the battle scenes. I found them to be quite realistic and engaging. You used all the war scenes available and edited them so one could not recognize them in their original form. A very difficult feat in this game since we are offered only a few to work with. :)
The story was predictable, but enjoyable. An issue with me was why they would want a corporal back, much less, allow him to leave service in the middle of a war to begin with? I don't know the British rank system but the American's was done fairly well. Oh how I wish they had more options for unit patches and the like. The rest of the props for the period were well chosen and fit the mileiu(?) well.
This is definately an engaging and enjoyable feature and I am glad I waited for the HIGH resolution version. I know I ALWAYS will release higher quality versions of my movies. They allow the viewer to absorb that much more into the story. :)

Good job Rileyman---Rysto

PS As a veteran I truly enjoyed the ending scene in the cemetary. I salute you. :)

I am a big fan of artistic and captivating montages and I thought you're execution of this was simply brilliant. I thought you managed to capture the look and more imporantly, the feel of a war drama with precise character development. This film didnt feel rushed nor overdrawn, the pace was just right.

I thought your skills with Editting were very evident to see making this one helluva technical film! Your use of the free-cam was exquisite and it grabbed my attention for the whole duration, mixed with superb VO's, I truly believe this is the best War Drama on TMO! Full Stop!

A very good movie

I liked the story and how the main character was builtup.
The music was well chosen and supported the story very well. Also VO were very well done
On the otherhand maybe some scens felt abit long and my mind started to drift.

Anyway a very good war movie deserves the 5 stars :)

The film opens with a powerfully classic overlay montage, what we expect from TMO at this point, but every time it is refreshing to see the great graphics display.

Now, war films are very difficult for TMO filmmakers, hey, I think they're nearly impossible for real filmmakers, even Spielberg stumbled on Saving Private Ryan. However, I want to start out with your "good". I rarely break reviews into section, but the divide in the film is great.

The best part of your film, hands down and without exception is the technical aspects of it. This includes editing. You obviously worked hard to condition your film, probably made multiple drafts to hollow out what was needed, and easily invested hours into the project. That or you got very lucky.

I loved a lot of your shots, the scene where the dead bodies lie in the water is the greatest part of your film. The problem is, the most visually impacting moment of a film should lie within the climax. I don't feel that happened. I feel as the film progressed you invested a bit less effort in each scene. The ending doesn't even stand next to the opening, which brings about the "Mulan" [Disney Film] issue. In Mulan, the most visually impacting moment is when the Huns charge over the hillside, however that is a half hour or so before the real climax. So that when the climax arrived we've already been visually satisfied, and the climax laggs. That was the main problem in your film, throughout the film you had dynamic camera shots that made your war film stand out among the bodies. However, you need to sort out the climax, as it needs to stand above and beyond the rest of the film. I would've shown your character die, and have the closing be a funeral, a white flag on a dark sky lit by gunfire, and then other soldiers running over the grave. It would've been a visual capturing segment to round out the film.

Now, your story really doesn't pick up. War films always seem to have trouble striking up the fire that burns into a story. You didn't create a character, so that as more and more men died they weren't anything tangible. Personally, I couldn't distinguish between Character A and Character B. This is the hardest part of The Movies, and really has tripped me up many times during a film while reviewing and making my own movies. Not to plug, but in my film City of Shadows many reviewers, and even myself at times, were lost by the mess of characters without explanation. Its a key flaw in the film, and we share the flaw. No character stands out enough to be the dynamic support needed to really make your film a classic.

Despite this, there were solid parts. And the voice cast really delivered a spectacular performance, no voice actor missed their mark. I was very surprised by the performance delivered by Mustachio, he did very well for his role and deserve a compliment for the effort he applied. Another stand out, Jazzx. Always a great voice actor, and among the best, this is possible the best voice in a film I've seen him in. Well done to every voice actor, they really pieced together the heart of your film.

I hope you take my comments to heart, especially about the climax. These are finer details because the overall flow of your film was top notch and grade A quality. However, the things I pointed out cripple a lot of TMO Directors, including myself.

Great movie.

A decent film, but the plot needs a little get up and go. I needs something to keep it moving forward without feeling like it's getting stuck on itself. Some characterization is good, while I fail to care about the other soldiers.

The VO work and technical side is great. Overall, a good film and I look forward to Part 2.

Im glad to see some of these longer movies being release. Movies that take the time to develop not just the story, but the characters in the story. This movie is not so much about the action of a war story, but how it effects the people in the story.
The acting was well done, and the uniforms and weapons were as close as you can get to the actual historical uniforms as the game will allow without extensive modding. The direction was clean and efficent, great care taken to get the technical details just right...even to breaking the movie into 2 parts to prevent the Sound Bug. And I agree with this method. The only thing I wish could have been better would be the battle scenes themself. While the editing works well for the story, I only wish that it didnt seem so familiar. Well Done, despite that.
You get 5 stars!

Brilliant. Just fabulous. I was engaged throughout the entire film. Every cast member played their parts well, and this just shows even more how versatile JazzX is. Two parts, and both played masterfully. Every aspect was extremely well done, and I'll definetely be checking out the second part later on today. Great film once again.

Expertly written and directed, this is as good as one could wish for in a WW2 movie made with this engine. The story so far has a very old-fashioned romantic view of war, focusing on family and the solder camaraderie rather than the horrors of warfare. Nevertheless, with well-delineated characters and a steadily advancing plot with great attention to detail, this is avery absorbing part one.

A great war drama!

THE GOOD: Excellent acting and the story is interesting. The music worked well with the scenes. The editing smooth and crisp. The action was put together well. Very professional credits!

THE BAD: An interesting tale, but we all kept saying the same thing, "Get on with it!!" The story flow was just too slow. Many scenes didn??t seem to be completely necessary to the story.

SUGGESTIONS ON FUTURE FILMS: Stick to the immediate story. When the script is complete, take a step back and say is every scene essential to the story?

An interesting and epic war drama!

Beautiful and exciting movie in it's respective parts. Excellent war film, much attention to detail (dates, times, locations, distances all given just like wartime coordinates; war tactics & strategy employed was very realistic and believable; characters were all well-developed and distinct in multi-faceted ways; etc). All in all, a very belieable film and that helped suck me in even further and further for the cliffhanger. I totally can feel for Stephanie and Lance in their roles. Bob and I have been talking about this and how we relate to them... the fear of life one day throwing us a curve ball and keeping us apart for any length of time in times of crisis.

For My Fellow Soldier I takes us into the second "war to end all wars" and is presented in an easy going style that, I feel, makes it a war drama rather than an action "shoot 'em up" For the most part I found this movie quite good. In a film such as this I would have expected more spirit and intense dialog especially while bullets and blood are flowing and having an Asian looking "Adam" as a charater in command at a time Japan and the Pacific theatre is also underway... Well I'll just say I felt these faulted the film. Never-the-less, I am drawn to the story and the next part of it. This movie shows a lot of thought to the plot to which I say... NICE WORK!

Exciting and involving, For My Fellow Soldier has been a great ride thus far. The acting is superb, the situation is believable and the characters all seem to have their quips. Never before has a war film made on TMO kept me this interested and I can't wait to see the second part.

A much anticipated release. This film lives up to the hype and advertising.
A great story told very skillfully.
The voice-overs were excellent. Very nice custom costumes.
A couple of subtitles were hard to read due to the scene but overall very effective.
The music fit the mood of the scene and enhanced to experience.
The use of 'freecam' was expertly done.
The couple of anecdotes provided much need comic relief to break the stress of the moment.
Truly an All-Star cast.

You put allot of time and effort into this film. I have no doubt this will be a chart topper.

A story is unfolding which I'm glad isn't at the face of it just another gung ho war movie (there are too many of those). It was nice to see heriocs and also heroic banter whereby war stories may or may not be exagerated. Some good VO's offer convincing characters which added to the games music (which is extremely well selected) and editing maintain interest throughout. The ending at a very critical point is also really clever.

What a great first part of your story! I´m really impressed by your storytelling, freecam use and the amount of time you spend on getting the sound just right really pays off! I'm not normally a big fan of war films, but I must say that this stood out from the norm. Your excellent freecam/editing style and the VOs, together a novel use of some mods, made it a most watchable film.

May I be the first to thank you for a realistic war movie. This is the closest anyone could ever get to showing real war in this game. Some of the voicovers were off, but not so much as to do anything to ruin the movie. I love long movies by the way, and so I loved this film

An excellent movie, some will say its too long but I love the longer movie you can develop the story more and have time to create different story arcs etc, of course it does take more time to make, but I think its worth it in the end, Well done.

Ok first of all i shall warn you that i am very critical of me.....=D

Anyway this movies are waaayyyy to long
i don´t know everybody here but i think that many will not have the energy to watch the whole movies, and also i think that there is to much talking,
a little "Zzzzzzz"-effect

However i can see that you have put ALOT of time and energy on these films
and thats good......But perhaps TO much???

The VO are good and editing is i should give you a five....but beacuse of the "above" things you wll get a four of me..
