Um I don't really know what to say, first things first, it did'nt have a real story. If you want the main character to die, and add more to this movies' style, you should have got the audience to know the person better (whoever he was). Good use of freecam, I don't have it myself and fantastic VOs.

As the Italians would sometimes say,'buono film!'-(good film!)

Well that's was... beautiful! Really... poetic directing, good idea to do it in B&W. Also good job on the VO's! The only little thing is the quality of those: much noise and those "clicks" at the end. You should take a little time to clean them up ;)
Other than than a really great little movie, a poem, a thought...
Keep it coming! :)

You really put a lot of work into this one, and it shows! Great job! As usual, your selection of music is amazing.. And I love all of your camera moves.. They definately aren't the standard moves from the game, so you must have figured out how to use the advanced options (i haven't gotten anywhere near that far yet). You're a great filmmaker! :)

This movie deserves to be a hot pick. The free cam usage was brillant, the scene selection was really well done. Good choice of melodramtic music. The only problem I had was understanding some of the dialog. But the rest of the movie made up for that.

*MoMc Review*
Very enjoyable movie. Some real care and artistry shown in the freecam use, prop placement and scene choice. All in all had a very professional look to the actual filming of the story and scenes.
Main problem is with the story structure. First char we see seems to be the protagonist...then we lose him. Ok, so the Death char is now the protagonist apparently...oh, we lost him too! Halfway through the movie...brand new char! Should I take more notice, are we going to stay with this one? Aha, apparently yes, this is the 'hero' we have waited for.
At the very least Death should have made a return at the end.
On a technical note there was some mic noise/echo that spoilt the effect of intimacy you bult up.
Very good movie, a little work on the structure and I might have scraped in a 5, enjoyed it.

--MOMC Review--

Short but sweet movie, and a short but sweet review.

Plot: 1/1
Everything you needed to say, you did. We get a little piece of everyone's life and then they die. Again, short, and sweet.

Editing/Camera Work: 1/1
WOW. I can't wait to install Stunts and Effects, so I can play with that FreeCam. I'll use this film as my primer/tutorial. :)

Exposition: .7/1
As I said, just a little piece of these people's lives. Maybe more would have been nice, but how much do we need to know about a guy who finds a treasure on a deserted isle just before he dies? Sounds like a lost verse from Alanis Morrisette's 'Isn't It Ironic?'.

Character Development/Motivation: .7/1
Not much here. We meet them, and they die. The Death Character was the most interesting. Pondering the lives of the people he has come to claim. Commenting on the fact that they all ask for more time. And well-dressed, on top of it all!

Overall Affect: .9/1
The film didn't leave me lacking much of anything. I would have liked maybe a bit more in the character development department. And some of the voice-over was not quite understandable. Nothing like a german/french/italian accent to make english hard to understand!! :) Bravo!!

Total: 4.3/5 rounded down to 4.

MoMc Review

You created great mood. Choice of black and white stock was appropriate. VO was perfect for the movie. The most impressive was the cinematography. That was incredible.

One complaint: I got a bit confused in the middle because the face of the protagonist changed so much in about the half way through the movie. (For a while I thought this was a story of two different men.)

A bigger concern: I hope you are trying to give us an easy answer here. Probably you are not, and probably this is my personal taste. But I think I would have liked an ending of a more ambiguous note?

The Archaic Awards
Review

Story: 9/10 A decent story. It really wasn't a strong point of the film though. Since it was a good story though, that makes the audience think, I giveit a 9.

Music: 5/5 The music was very good. It suited the atmosphere perfectly and it never really seemed annoying. Good job!

VO/Subs: 9/10 Vo's were very good. Sometimes I couldn't understand them, but for the most part they were awesome.

Script: 5/5 The script was obviously thought out. It was written well, and aided in the movies success. Good job!

Extras: 5/5 Freecam was very good, along with the black and white filter. Mods were used well also.

Editing: 13/15 This was a good film. There were some scenes that didn't transition very well. The movie was pretty much the right length, but it did feel like it could be a bit shorter. Overall though a solid romance/ death ;-) film.

Final Score: 46/50

In My Review, I look for 5 things.

1) Story
2) Sound Effects and Sound Track
3) Scene editing
4) Costumes
5) VO's, Captions

STORY "Great"
SOUND EFFECTS and SOUNDTRACK "Excellent"
SCENE EDITING "Excellent"
COSTUMES "Excellent"
VO's/CAPTIONS "Excellent"

This is a Very well told story! The Sound Effects and Sound Track are PERFECT for every Scene! The Scene editing is PERFECT for every scene! The Costumes are in PERFECT time with this Story! The VO's are almost Perfect except I could hear background noise this made a difference when The Mic was turned off/on and does take away from the Film Overall Quality but, in My View this is very minor.
All in All, I Really ENJOYED watching this Movie and Feel it is ONE OF THE BEST ON TMO ! Keep on Filmin' GL,

I like how you used the vlack and white filter for this film. It made me feel like this movie was worked hard on.

The voice overs, though, I am glad you had them but they were "fuzzy." As the viewer could hear the empty background noise, whcih was fuzzy. We could also hear the click of your mouse when you were done recording. I'm not going to mark you down for that, only because I did the same thing in one of my movies.

Freecam, very well used, but nothing spectacular, I loved the shot in the beginning when the island guy was talking to Death, you had him (the island guy) on one side with a medium close up. I don't know why i liked it, but I did. Good job on that!

In 5 star movies, I also look for unusual set dressing effects that really stand out and bring a flare to the movie. You had some set dressing, but not too much.

whew!

Good visual style. The black and white atmosphere works and the tone remains consistent throughout. However, this film is not about what you think it is about. This movie did not really have anything to do with religion, and you definitely did not dissect the issues you brought up in the description. I didn't believe this movie was going to be very deep, considering its runtime, but I thought the themes would at least cover what you explained beforehand. The VO's were a little cheesy and took away from the story, which also happens to be a little overly-sentimental. Overall, this is a good-looking film with a scattered philosophy.

A powerful homage to Ingmar Bergman's The Seventh Seal that goes beyond the sterile posturing of an empty imitation; this is an incredible film that exists autonomous from its inspiration. This is full-on philosophy, placing its dialogism into the sort of heated intensity that Hegel would have appreciated. As the characters speak and the images shock us, we are brought to our own conclusions, all of them revolving around our fears and desires. That it is beautifully shot and edited strengthens the movie's power at moving us while it proffers these cryptic ideas of religion, life, and death. For that, the movie succeeds in completely enthralling us.

Excellent, excellent work!

I found this to be a terrific film. Much better than I had expected when I came across it. The shots and angles were planned out well and gave this project a working flow that was steady and interesting. The subject of death is not a new one but is one that all can and must someday relate to and this movie touches on the "Grim Reaper" and his work at times with a silent thought provoking style that I thought was grand. I give few reviews but I am glad to have happened upon this film. FIVE STARS! Well Done!

This movie has left me thinking more about things like what was shown and how we can all dobetter things but must be forced to use that opportunity instead of taking it when e=we could of.

The music in this film is astonishingly eerie and yet extremly beautiful. I loved the black & white effect because it gave the appearence of a silent film. Beuatiful & epic, anyone can love this film.

Let's get the frivolities out of the way first:

I could swear the main character sounded exactly like Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) from Casino Royale. Every time he talked, I made a protective cup with my hands (which were below waist height).

I really liked the voice and its narrative intimacy. Even though I missed some of the words, the tone was very thoughtful.

Anyway - this is a worthy exploration of mortality, in particular the need to be remembered well and also the question of divine judgement - although it had a religious ending in the V.O. - I never felt there was much here to do with Christianity (The character "Death" was a bit of a giveaway there).

Maybe I'm completely wrong, but my understanding of the story is this:

This character is a hitman who, upon learning that he has terminal lung cancer starts to do something more worthwhile with his life. He then ends the film by praying to God. The film seems reluctant to answer the question of whether he's done enough or not - or maybe, quite rightly, leaves it open ended. The black screen could be interpreted as nothingness instead of an afterlife.

I'm not sure what the message is, but I'll interpret it as the "Myra Hindley" paradox.

Myra Hindley was one of the most evil women in Britain. She murdered several children after acts of sickening cruelty and barbarity along with her partner Ian Brady, then buried them on a moor. She got life in prison. Decades later in jail, she converted to Christianity for a number of years before her death; presumably, all her Sins were forgiven long ago as one of the fold. So now she's away playing her golden harp, whereas the likes of the unbelievers like myself are presumably destined to end up with a red hot poker up our backsides for all eternity.

So, like Hindley, this questionable character looked back on his life when he knew it was going to end and prayed for forgiveness and started doing more worthwhile things to stop his arse from being fried on an infinitely slow-burning grill.

Probably totally wrong, but that's what I saw.

I could go on forever on this subject of death and religion and the afterlife (if you want to know my opinion, watch some Richard Dawkins on YouTube), but I'll stick to the technicalities instead - great camerawork, nice music and all filmed in stylish black and white. The pacing of the scenes was superb and it got me thinking about a few things.

The film was a mystery to me, but - like its subject - an intriguing one.

Words cannot really describe this movie, i'll try anyways.....
It was slightly disturbing....but in a really intriging way that i could not stop watching it.

Using the black and white over using colour brought upon a sort of noir to this movie, would relate it close to the real movie Sin City but without the extra little coloured bits to it.

Very dark and expertly done, i wouldn't know where to start on the camera angles and how the hell you pulled them off so well

Congrats

Fantastic film.

It deals with a subject vary rarely touched upon, in real life cinema and the media, as well as on TMO. I felt that you dealt with the subject matter in a very sympathetic and intelligent way, tackling it from an unusual but very effective angle.

The storyline is expertly crafted into a truly cracking film by the aid of perfectly selected music, the b&w mod, and an exquisite VO.

Also, choosing to perform the voiceover, with a detached style works very well. Speaking of the VO, it is expertly done. I have no idea how many times you did it, or in how many parts it is, but it appears virtually flawless, no stumbling, mumbling or misprounciation at all.

I would like to be able to say something negative, to show that I have considered this film properly, but I don't find any justification whatsoever for negativity - so I wont do it just for the sake of it

MAGNIFICENT MOVIE! 5/5 100% - GREAT WORK! I will look out for more of your work. Have already bookmarked you for reference, and to watch this again (have already watchd it 3 times).

Let me first off by saying WOW what an amazing movie. The use of scenes, music, mods, and of course the message of the movie. Ill tell you man this movie is something so unique and so visually groundbreaking it is really worth watching over and over again. This movie is a soon to be classic.

==Film aspects==
*Wonderful use of camera angles. Great mix of custom angles and stock
**The black and white totally bring a new aspect to the movies. It really depicts a great visual image while watching the movie. Great job on that
***Scene selection is a wonderful part of the movie. With fresh new scenes each part of the movie, It keeps a wonderful new perspective.
****Finally is the Message. WOW is all I can say. The message that was said in the movie is just awesome. Very well thought through and very well used in the movies.

==Work needed on==
If there is a way to take the clicks out of the voice it would really just make the movie that much better. Although most people do not even notice it.

Take care and keep on making movies man you truely have shown that you have what it takes to make awesome movies.
Sincerely
_ML

The film started with elegant grace, and the music really set the mood for the film. It really made the movie work, and as we learned more about the unfortunate character, you really began to feel for him.

The VO's were well acted, but not without a few flaws. First of all, there were popping noises accompanied with static that really took away all the effort you put into doing your VO's. I shouldn't be able to tell when you're going to talk, but your microphone told me. I know it's no fault of your own, but you should think of getting a good quality microphone, because it really wrecks the film (not much so in this case). Also, because you did the VO's on your own, at times the voices sounded the same and I had absolutely no idea who was talking. It was much like subtitles that don't mention who's talking.

Other than that, the story was well constructed and flowed with a beautiful grace, the camera-work and the black and white filter worked well together, and really added depth to the film. At the end it really made me ask myself, just what does await us after we die? Unfortunately, I'll be tossing and turning in my sleep trying to come up with a solution (but of course I never will).

Overall, it was a touching little film that hit all the right places. The movie truly had me captivated from beginning to end, and something drew me towards it even closer. By the time the film had finished, my nose was squashed against my screen.

Great job Ralf!
