After reading the script, I was interested to see how you were going to pull this one off. Let me say, you pulled it off with flying colors. The story worked great, especially along side the flawless editing. The VO's were all well done, although a few were hard to hear at times. More music (especially during the action scenes) would've been a little better, but the score was still perfect and went well with the feel of the movie.
Overall, this was a very entertaining film, and your hard work and effort really shows. Great job!

This is easily the BEST WAR MOVIE to ever hit TMO. There was some great work done with this movie.

TMO TV has officially picked it up for a big premeire on TMO TV.

Lot of fun. You hired a good group of VA's for voice-over work. A few minor technical errors with sound glitches on voice volume drop-offs in your lines; but, that's about all I noticed. I think only only hit by the audio-aync bug on my line. Otherwise, we all came off pretty well represented, I feel. The general text overlays (I assume were by andy_inc) were excellent. Music, costumes, lighting, props, etc, were all good.

There were so many obvious errors in this film that it only gets two stars. The voices were so annoying, because they kept going up and down. And what was that gun doing in the end of the film? It wasn't supposed to be there.

***MoMc-Review***

The beginning of the movie was great, good work on the title overlays! The music fitted also very well, but I would have liked to hear some more throughout the movie. Editing was good, there was very good freecam use. The voiceovers were sometimes a bit unemotional, not really fitting to a war movie, and the volumes were very different, sometimes the voices weren´t easy to understand (especially in the rain scenes). There also were some sound synching problems which distracted me.
I liked the funny moments (tea or coffee?) but overall, the story did not really grip me.

3.2

*MoMc Review*

From the very first moment of the lackluster beginning narration, I was already groaning miserably, sinking quickly in my swivel chair. And this is 15 minutes long...

But this you made this percieved foreshadowing false with a war film that really surprised me considering the reviews it's recieved. It has an interesting Saving Private Ryan-esque plot, and the dialogue was pulled off well by your VO actors...although the volumes and quality of each actor differed dramatically.

I also see you were hit hard by the demonic audio synch bug. It's definately a shame when a decent film falls victim to this problem, but I'm still not very lenient about it. It is easily fixable if you put in the effort, so I have to dock you a few points for this mishap.

Also, I don't think opposing soldiers would be engaging in a karate stand-off during the middle of a furious battle. Keep realism in mind when you're writing these scenes.

Otherwise, an enjoyable production with a decent plot and some hard-nosed writing that got the job done. Good work!

MoMc Score: 3.7

** MoMc SCORE=3.4 **

Nice custom intro credits sequence. Although the preceding VOs that introduce us to the movie were too noisy and distracting.

The view on war and combat felt absurdly simplistic and unrealistic. Nobody is that easily convinced to risk their life like that. Also the tone of the voice acting was a bit too soft and relaxed, contrasting severely with the comical exhageration of the animation.

As the movie approached midway, VO loudness levels were sometimes discrepant.

I think you have certainly improved technically, as the movies look better and the VOs are much better than the first movie from your studio I saw. But one thing you may want to focus on now is a compelling story. By that I mean a story that grabs you by the throat. You may want to concentrate on stories in which you have experience on, or something you can do extra research upon. With this particularly movie, it just never had that touch of realism. People were not talking as if they were in a war. Commanders were not speaking in the way you would expect. I'd hope to see more nuance, something extra and surprising. Otherwise characters will seem to be cardboard equivalents of the real people.

The voices didn't sound very much like they were in a war. The Pacintg was really bad, Eg. when then captain tells that man how he ever became a doctor, it was just too slow. It's good editing, and good costume (manchester United shirt.) The only thing that was wrong with it were the voices, very dull...

the mona lisa review:

nice movie.the introduction was good, and some of the VO are great.

but I am sorry to say that there is some problem with this movie.....

some of the VO are hard to hear, music is missing in that movie, while the scene are great, there was too much action scene because of a lack of dialogue F/X sound and music.I was mix up some time because the character are set in 2007....but wear second world war uniform...I don't know why you didn't use the more modern uniform...the story lost is interess toward the end.work on how you structure your movie, the sound, and add some music.I hate to give review like that...but I try to be honest for the sake of my competition!

Well, what to make of this? There's some good, and there's some bad. A couple of gags through the film worked, but there were also some times I found myself laughing at some unintentional gags as well. The storyline is alright, and some of the characters are decent, but there are sizeable portions of the film that have almost no structure whatsoever. Overall, this film is more miss than hit.

As an aside, the link that took me here had a poster of the raising of the American flag over Iwo Jima. This film has nothing to do with that event ?? it would be a good idea to keep such a famous image out of the viewer's mindset, if the film isn't related.

Overall enjoyment: 26/35. Well, this could have been lower. But I laughed plenty throughout this film, so there were certainly times that I enjoyed it. The latter half of the film managed to have both intentional and unintentional gags that I found hysterical.

Editing: 12/30. There are some moments of okay editing, but it is by far the weakest part of the film. During most of the conversation scenes, we get little indication of which character is the speaker. The battle scenes are just a string of shots tied together without any structure, sometimes using the default camera the entire way through. Once the opening music ends, the film is left without any music to set the atmosphere. Dialog often has too much space between each line, and some voices are much more quiet than the others.

Production Value: 9/15. The poor editing brings the production value down here. Costumes are sketchy, as some friendly characters have British uniforms, others have German uniforms. Props are also sketchy, as both old and new appear throughout. The one shining beacon of light here comes in the opening title and credits. Some great music, decent choices of scenes and camera angles, and fantastic overlays ?? if only the rest of the film had received the same professional polish!

Characters: 7/10. There are actually some pretty good characters here, particularly of the comedic variety.

Dialog: 6/10. This alternates between decent and less than average. We get a couple of good jokes. Large parts of the setup before battles just didn't work for me.

Total: 60/100.

2 stars.

My suggestions: Work on having a good plan for how the battle scenes are going to play out. While the default angle of "Covering Fire" is a pretty cool scene, having it play through its entirety without any editing has been done. Following it up with various fight scenes, including the entire default camera for "Ain't Over Yet", doesn't help it at all. Plan out where the soldiers start out, how they get from point A to B, who is killed and who survives, etc. And then edit it down with more scenes, each cut to show just the portions you want (and with the camera angles you need).
Including background music throughout the film would have helped this immensely. It can really help set the atmosphere.
Delve a little more into which costume set you want to use, and stick with it for each faction. If this is intended to be present day, make sure you use modern weapons.
And finally, work on getting the volume of every voice equalized, and the humming noise removed. You can use Audacity's "Normalize" and "Remove Noise" filters to achieve this.

having seen much of your pr work on the forums etc for this film I have to say I was very disapppointed...

The Vos were bad throughout. It wasnt the fact that the volume levels were differennt so much, it was more the fact that your voice as the privates just didnt seem right. There was no tone or intonation and it didnt seem as if much effort was put into the VOs. Also the lines weren't great either.

The storyline, credits, overlays etc were all great but because of the dialogue it seemed like a bit of a joke really...

This is an okay movie, way too long and voices for the most part were not great...though some were pretty good but I forget which ones. There are some good lines but overall not real entertaining.

So - at the end of that, we don't even get to know the enemy's name - well, judging by the uniforms, exactly the same as our side's name.

This film was so dreadful that it had me rolling with laughter - (the best "so bad it's good" film on TMO by a mile).

It's supposed to be action - but turns out to be a hilarious comedy. And I'm not altogether sure that the filmmakers aren't in on it. ;)

Because nothing could be this bad if you tried to make it so.

It presented itself in the publicity as the story of how war affects three men; and ends up with "tea v coffee" jokes by the dozen.

The story practically disintegrated as it went along and the dialogue was not very well delivered at all for most of the film. One character sounded like he was in the next room doing something else, his voice was so faint and uninterested. Many of the others sounded like they were reading off a card instead of pretending to be their characters. The only ones who made any effort were the General and his whipping boy (and maybe the Doctor in places). That was the one moment in the film that shone. Otherwise this script, such as it was, was very very flatly delivered and slackly edited. No attempt was made to equalize the volumes of the VO at all. So two characters would talk - one would pop your eardrums, the other's voice would seemingly waft in from another planet.

The music was very good at the start - but, after it stopped, there was no more (which means no more atmosphere).

Sound effects seemed to go out of sync at times, but you could say that about the whole film.

There was very little editing in this film, most of the scenes were slapped together and left to rot. We got a full "Ain't Over Yet" scene - that's what we're dealing with here.

So - having said all that, it deserves to be a cult classic for how bad it is, and for that reason it does live up to its promise of 15 minutes of sheer entertainment.

Fantastic work you have here Danny. I got to admit that some VOs there a little bit messy, but that is really not vital in this coherence, since the atmosphere is in its own leauge. That makes a good war movie, is basically the atmosphere, and in that aspect your movie is number one, with United We Stand as second. Really enjoyed the story, and the destiny of these young man and their heart for the UK ( I believe=). Awesome Danny, and that is not something I just say for fun.

Doc: OK, OK, you don't have to raise your voice...

actually, Pvt David Gill YOU DO HAVE TO RAISE YOUR VOICE! horridly mismatched, out-of-balance VOs, some were OK, some were too distant, quiet, most were qute bland, not inflection, no 'character' to the VO, just read straight from the script... at the very least, I was able to follow the dialogue of 90% of your actors, and at least over half of what I heard made some sort of sense to the 'plot' of whatever this was supposed to be... just a matter of figuring out exactly what it was supposed to be, and driving that point home, instead of aimlessly bouncing around from comedy to fighting, to comic-fights to a few--very few-- real-war-time Action bits.. and this was an Action Movie???

some how, a never-ending war, with complete dolts as Enemy Forces?
if you're making a comentary on the sorry state of British and other Eur-Asian military 'might' then you have at least accomplished some small thing with this.
It's listed as Action, but this is easily farcical, which to me, should be spelled C O M E D Y, so you lose points for the mismatched themes... it's Three Stooges Go To War.

and there was no mood music throughout, which really detracted, made me have to focus on what the looney characters were doing on-screen, or what they were saying, which at times was impossible to figure, so it would have been nice to have some music to drown out and distract from the rest...

also, the atmosphere, the costumes, so Yesterday, so old school... like something from the ancient times, not 'modern day' I was not convinced this farce of a flop was happening in current times. More like, ancient Egypt times, probably partially due to the fact that it was plugged using the block-buster CLEOPATRA in the subject header. Yep, leading off with that, I was really expecting so much more from this little waste of 15 minutes...

I don't even care what name is given the enemy; the ultimate irony would be to call the enemy of this series DJDanny and the Doombringers of Doom

WOW..... what a war film.... I loved the VO's, especially the tea guy and the colonel. The camera shots were fantastic. The music really set the scene and the story was great. An epic story told in modern times. Classic ;)

Final Verdict: 5/5 stars, a truely amazing war film with a great VO cast and good story. A classic indeed.

I thought it was wonderfully well shot, but the actors all sounded a touch bored and the dialogue was weak and of a widely varying volume. The opening music was well suited, although it's a shame it wasn't used anywhere else in the film. Although, the silence worked quite nicely in parts, so maybe that was a conscious decision. The villain was a bit 2-Dimensional too. It was OK, nothing spectacular, and unfortunately featured little to set it aside from the other war movies on TMO.

The film just didn't do it for me. I couldn't tell if you were making war film that had some comedy in it or if you were making a comedy about a war. The story was a bit too long and overdrawn for me.
Don't be afraid to use post production and cut scenes up to make them flow better and seem newer and fresh.
The VOs could use some work. Maybe get audacity to help level the volumes out. The acting itself was a bit too stiff for me. I didn't get any feeling from the performances.
The music was good when you used it.
I gave it 3 stars because you did obviously put in some hard work on this so that definitely does deserve to be recognized.
goodluck with your future films.

3 *'s. It wasnt that good and some of the VO's were very fuzzy, and some were much louder or quieter than others. Also it lacked a score, i mean sure it did have the begginning music but after that it was pretty boring. I was being generous.

Your opening VO almost kills that movie, watch out that you don't pick up to much side noise and try to keep a constant sound quality.
Also, the text sound a lot like you are reading it from a peice of paper in front of you, work on adding more emphasis on to your VO's.

Also some unexplained incosistencies in that movie, like why did they use a commercial truck to drive to the battlefield?

You seem to aim for a M.A.S.H. kind of feel, more war satire than war movie.

Overall, a decent effort.

Srry about this, but i just didn't like the way it went. It was a pittiful movie(no offence). I'm not trying to be mean but was it a action or comedy? Oh and for the audio try and speak more loudly into your mic. I could barely hear what some of them were sayin. It made me laugh but I just didn't go along with it, if you know what i'm saying. Other than that it was pretty good. At first I though it was 1 star material but then it sort of modivated me with the hilarity. Nice work though :)!

I would like to start off by stating how sorry I am about the problems with the sound in certain points in the movie. All the same, however, I find the end result to be very much a joy to watch. It's a war movie, but it's also a satire on the current war effort that is going on in the Middle East. I laughed at the appropriate scenes and enjoyed watching the action scenes very much. Excellent job my friend!

Sound: 2 (The volume was either very loud or very quiet. One suggestion put in some subtitles. Some parts had some sounds out of synch for example when one soldier was trying to stab another random kung fu sounds appeared)
Music: 4 (Custom Music was a good idea but a few parts could of needed some music)
Story: 5
Genre: 4
Effects: 4 (Too much darkness in some area??s)
Overall: 3.8 (four stars) Overall it was good movie but the sound took it down. When you release your next movie make sure the sound levels are equal. I had to fix my volume many times. But other than the sound the movie was pretty good.

I was very curious to see what appeared to be a quality war movie, but again, I have been let down. This movie's faults are just so glaring. I am saddened that I have been saying this in seemingly every review lately, but this dialogue is some of the worst I have heard. Interactions between individuals involved in a war should be intense and convey strong emotions. Your dialogue was so wooden and misconceived, I thought I was watching the Star Wars prequels all over again. The pacing and structure of the movie was also poorly developed. Most of the scenes were truly pointless, in fact, just about the whole movie was pointless. What has taken place in 15 minutes that is so important to the story? You also have a very inconsistent tone throughout the film, which you managed by attempting to be witty and serious at the same time. This works when the dialogue is fresh and exciting like in Full Metal Jacket, but not here. You also chose some scenes that were clearly out of place, like the Kung Fu fight. The sparse use of music and ambiance was interesting, but the bland "story... battle... story" structure almost negated this triumph entirely.

First, let me remind you that freeplay isn't free, its all copyright music that you cannot use on The Movies Online.

Next, I think you should work in Audacity to tighten up your voice overs and improve the quality, in the opening scene for example, the camera shots are great, but, the voice stutters on speech. Most conversation scenes have the automated laugh, and the voices are varried volume. Audacity helps to level out the audio.

Scenes where they are, for example, riding in the back of the van, can be cut for time. It kills the pace of the film, the instense war scenes are killed by emotionless dialog and lack of music. Length is good if its deserved, alot of the elements of the film could've been cut, and without music the rain sound effects catches up with you, it becomes monotonous.

In a war movie, heavily dialog can murder a film, I think the dialog drags away from the action, and without music you lose all the intensity.

A bit too much voice popping(there are methods to cover the microphone) at the opening.
Good use of fades in/out

"get them ready for war", "stop that front line" strikes the ears as clumsy. Some scenes too dark - escpecially the inside king-fu ones. Not military lingo.
The "It's not over yet" has been used a bit much - didn't need the final sequence.

Doc is a off-putting and out of place on the battlefield. It's safer to leave him Back at the hospital

The serious stuff was never serious enough and the funny never got a chance to work off the serious. Good effort but maybe strip it down to fewer parts.

Great job!

This is a great movie! It's similar to a movie I made and it's great! VO's were really well done and nice use of the free Cam!

Good action comedy. Loved the little slams on the doctor and tea boy! Good cliffhanger ending as well.

first of all, lets talk story wise
it was a decent story , but it realy didnt make me wanna stay and watch
the Vo's were ok at some points, but at other times it was very hard to hear
the sound has some glitches
the editing was just decent
so over all, it was a decent film, a little to long for my tastes

It was fun working with you on this project and the film turned out to be very good. The VA's were good, altough i see you have caught the dreaded audio-sync bug ;) Good characterization and nice ending. I really wanted those £20000 :)

Final Review: 5/5 stars, great editing and laughs to match. A classic film for sure.

Well done! Incredibly great continuity - nice use of scenes. The characters had such strong personalities (I particularly liked the tea dude =)).
And I wanna get that ending soon -.- hehe!
Good job.

It is an average war movie, but there are some I didn't like... Such as the sound: some VOs were good, but others were too soft and also difficult to understand. Also there were some overlong or unnecessary scenes, that slowed down the action...
However the camera work was good and also the editing...

Good effects but the voice acting is poor and completely unbelievable. The voices really let this movie down.

I'm gonna start by saying that war movies aren't really my type of movies and are way overdone here. However, I have seen some pretty good ones. Overall, this is a very good movie from M&MP. Now on to the review.
The novelty value of the "ain't over yet" scene has gotta be 0% by now, as it is way overdone. There are some technical issues with this movie, such as some of the vo's in the beginning had a sort of a "background" sound to them. I noticed some 'clicking' as well.
The music was pretty good. I did notice the sound bug in this, but of course that makes no difference to me. Overall, it was a pretty good story.

My rating:
script: 4 stars
VO's: 4 stars
editing: 3 stars
drops/lays: 4 stars
music: 4 stars
overall: 3.8 stars

Not too bad war flick, many technical errors, but it has the basis that you can build on.

An interesting modern take on the war genre. I thought you managed to pull it off quite well. Overall I can see you improving even more in your next project and wish you the best. Keep up the good work and keep on experimenting!
