Film Description
A short and sweet little Western, showing that you can make a movie using one (virtual) sweeping camera shot.

Now with Voice Overs and a story! (Not that the other didn't have a story, but now it's a lot more obvious!)

Enjoy!

Thanks to my wife for her Voice talent, and also to bruscar5 (at 8eyedbaby.com) for two of the musical pieces.

That wasn't bad! Great freecam, but it could've been longer.

Would you be kind enough to rate my "The fountain of Youth"? Thanks.

Wow! I missed this previously as well. I liked the off camera work action. It kind of gave the feel of being someone in hiding trying to safely catch glimpses of the gunfight without getting hurt. I have no doubt you could have kept all the action on screen if that was your intent. Kudos for making a very creative movie.

Now why didn't I see this one earlier? It is one of the cleverest ideas I've some across on TMO. Extremely well edited and a nice short story to go with it. Well done!

Fun idea and I thought the title was perfect but thats me. The intro is pretty cool following the guy from the room to the shootout. I personally felt the camera moved a bit slow and did not effectively stay with the action. Im quite sure you had a reason for not showing the action directly (the feet instead of the bodies and whatnot) but it felt a bit off. Towards the end you have a fadeout to a new scene that breaks with the theme subtracts from the effectiveness of the idea. Again you probably had a reason for doing this but it didnt fit with my expectations based upon the previous scenes. Overall, cool idea, good plot, decent execution.

Great idea on the technical side of things, pretty interesting. Voice overs are good, but the title didn't really fit the movie
Only once i read your description after watching the movie, did i set aside my confusion. One other thing it is unfortunate that we do not actually see the action due to continuouse camera work.
It was a really good effort and i would give you 4.5 rating if i could keep up the imagination.
You may like a movie in my studio called "Switch off the Sun" it is a western romance. film on :)

"I'm Underpants Man... I'm Underpants Man!"
lol... no one noticed that? Has Prof Nibbler built a time machine, and gone delusional?
Great imagination you have. Always creative and fun movies at your studio! (It took me a second to figure out what you meant by the "single shot" in the title... but I'm not always the sharpest!)

I liked the off-camera action... it made for original "views" of familiar scenes.
Thanks!

The sweeping camerawork almost gave it the feel of a documentary.
A different slant on a familiar theme - I liked it.

Althought the camera work was impressive, at points all the action occured outside of frame because of it. The audience is not able to see the showdown, all they see is bodies falling dead to the ground to the sound of gunshots. That sort of ruined it for me.

The story was quite simple but the twist in the end made up for that. The VO's were good as you could hear everything they said perfectly. The movie title did not really relate to the movie which, in my book, is not good. That brings down the rating as well.

camera work: 5
voice overs: 5 for her, 4 for you.
story: well, not really much of one. no motivations for the characters other than some VERY freudian ones. 3, would have been less, except for the ending twist, which made up for the lack of plot.
so, that makes 4 stars. still pretty good for a 2 minute movie.
i also liked the name: one shot showdown. in case anyone missed the point, it wasn't about one shot from a gun, but the fact that the camera work looked like it was done in one shot. excellent!

Hey there BS. :)

While this was really fun to watch and your concept here is sheer brilliance (why didn't i think of this.. oh yeah -i'm a idiot!! lol) i kinda have to agree with Filmeadair a little bit. If perhaps you would have put more a skad more effort into the planning of this ... most definitely a five star-er. Mrs. did a great job on the voice overs - your's were *allright*... LOL Totally Kidding man - it was great.

but your movie had a really great concept and would like to see more from your creative mind/studio. Greetings to you and yours - & even theirs too ~

Technically not quite perfect but still a great idea and well excuted.
I loved that end, very funny and definitevly unexpected.

Very technically accomplished, but the "single shot" thing didn't pan out as it should have.

Firstly, the title refers to a technical feature, but it could have been the theme of the piece. Had there only been one gunshot in the movie, it would have felt more complete. However, as it stands, the title does not relate to the story, which is a big no-no in my book.

Secondly, the camera fade near the end says to me the end of a shot. Couldn't you have turned the camera away instead?

I don't think technical merits should win a 5 star review, so I'll look briefly at the story.

The character motivations are delivered in two lines, which is a little quick. There's an almost "Deus ex Machina" feeling to the resolution of the first conflit.

There is something of a twist at the end -- I'll give you credit there -- but I never got the feeling of discovering anything new, or realising anything, or being surprised.

So only 4 from me, I'm afraid.
Good work though. Definitely visually different from anything else here, and that's not something that can be said of a lot of The Movies films.

that was just brilliant.

Such a funny little story... LOL]

oh, and, single-shot showdown (was i the only one that thought that the title had something to do with the fact you used several repeated shots using the 'end is start' technique' :D )

fantastic... hehe..

That was INCREDIBLE! I never thought of a "single shot" movie--brilliant concept and execution. That was very well done, and with an amusing tale to boot. I especially appreciated the sound of the bushes rustling as the camera passed through it. Great attention to detail. Through and through a work of genius.
