Absurdly epic in its granduer, K7: Quarantine takes moviemaking to new levels, creating intense action sequences that tear into the viewer while the space opera dramatics explode with an equal intensity. Rik Varguard's adroit skills as a director, musician, and a modder come into the spotlight as he eradicates all preconcieved notions of what can be accomplished in digital cinema, granting us his vision of the future with a broad scope. Complex, beautiful, and crackling with the sort of hard sci-fi thrills that come packaged in a Hollywood blockbuster, Varguard toys with our emotions as he dazzles us with his filmmaking abilities. The original K7 was a sensational film. This one is better; it blows my mind.

Films like this are rare; it is the type of movie that is destined to be whispered in the same breath as the word "masterpiece."

An action packed, fast paced, tragic, heartwrenching, apocalyptic masterpiece. War of the Worlds written by shakespere.

If there is one thing you can't say about this movie is "dull", at nearly 30 minutes long you would think that it would drag on in places, but right from the start you are sucked into the movie, questions are raised and ideas are suggested, and all of this by the time the opening credits begin to roll.

It is difficult to explain exactly how this movie draws you in, it is beautifully complex and vivid that each viewer will see a different movie. For me it was the love story that really made this movie, but for others it would be the action, and others would love the fantasy aspect or the political aspect, others may be drawn to the science fiction aspect.

Most movies that are overly complicated fall flat as they are too convoluted, you can't tell what is going on most of the time, this movie is so wonderfully intricate and finely poised throughout the movie that you feel you are being propelled at break neck speed to a conclusion you may not be entirely happy about seeing.

The script in a word - Sensational.

This is a movie you watch and find it hard to remember that it was made by a game, a game that allows creative freedom, but a game non-the-less, a game that at one point spawned such gem movies as "saddle up sally" only a mere year ago.

Since the release of those tentative movies there have been many defining movies of the time, King Kong, Night Pass, Driven, K7, The Gritty Western, Black Bird, Subway and now this, K7 - Quarantine, this movie stands apart from the others that were released, not just because it made use of the new expansion pack, but because it is so well made that it would be hard to find another movie that would come close to taking over as a "defining" movie.

You may ask why this movie will be hard to beat, it is very simple, it has everything.

When you see a movie most times there is something obvious that stands out to you and says "this should be different" with this one there is nothing, the editing is slick, the sets are perfect, the acting is the best i have seen on TMO and some of the actors are the best i have ever seen.

Of course it would be all to easy to rave on about how fantastic this movie actually is, and why you should be watching it instead of reading this review, what is very hard to do is pick out something that was wrong with the movie that you would feel needs improving.

There are however, upon closer inspection, some points that would be raised.

The first - It doesn't end, there is no point where you as the viewer feel comfortable that the movie has ended, this is by no means a bad thing with regards to movie making, as movies like "the descent" end in a similar fashion, it leaves it open to interpretation and imagination, and i think that this is one of the key points as to why this movie succeeds so well in leaving the viewer with a sense of awe.

The second is that certain parts had very distorted voice overs that were hard to hear in some instances, when you have a 30 minute epic to direct i can imagine that it is hard to notice every single minor detail that is in the movie, it did dent the viewing experiance in places however and it is the most major point that i have to make about this movie. That said it was more than made up for by the acting talents and crisp flowing dialogue that surrounded the muffled parts. Although there was a classic part during the movie where i felt someone was either to shy or didn't want to disturb anyone when a shouted part was one of the whispered shouts for "target is down".

Being pedantic it is very easy for me to pick over ever single minute detail and point out flaws normally, with this movie, in all honesty they were the only two points that i could think of raising about this movie.

This movie doesn't need my scoring system all it needs is the following line:

A Modern day Machima Masterpiece.

--The END--

Words can not describe how good this film was... well they can.
Storyline.10/10
Bit shakey at the start as the first bit required a sub title to move on which wearnt very clear but thats just TMO for you. Everything elese; wonderful. There seemed to be a kind of police force/ militia organisation with dudey costumes. Then there seemed to be a complex with a Scifi bridge as a control station. Overall the Story was one of the longest and the best I've seen on TMO.
If anyone has a better film than this please let me know!

VO's 9/10
Now here I'm being realy pickey but when someone was talking and then they laughed for example the laugh was much quieter that there speech. I liked the fact that you didn't take the world on your sholders and try and VO evry one in the film. I recognised one from Love at first wright. Overall the VO's were a great Asset to the film and if you had only used subs then i think you would have lost a feiw notches.

Music and sound 10/10
The music was phenominal. Briliant. Went very well with the scene at the time. I loved the way thay when an actor walked his or her head would bob up and down in time with the music lol.
The sound was Brillo and I reconised some blaster SFX which was remanisnt of star wars.

Modding 9/10
The Modded sets were wonderful. the only origonal set used was the green screen
set. They wearnt very clear at some points because of the rain and bad Reso (NYF!) I love watching films with added sets as i can't seem to find the Meshes file. I also thought it was clever to have super cool buildings but ti still use MP5s! It was sort of in the I robot era.

Cons
The only con was that it's so Darn long. I had to wait to see the next bit when I went down to see my grandparents for a few hours!

Conclusion.
Brilliant Film. I would give that one billion stars (but acording to my calculations there isn't enough space!

From the beginning all the way to the very end there was some really awesome mod work. It looked so professional and entertaining. Flawlessy chosen and made mods that realy brought the story to life. This movie was also visually stunning due to these excellent mods.

There wasn't too much that we could find that was bad about this at all. WE think it's that perfect that nothing needs to be worked on at all. Intro: One word, finally! That was an amazing movie, very close to a regularly movie. Just about every thing was perfect.

Story/5: It??s fairly hard to tell the behind story of who??s who and what there impotents is but that??s the way it??s supposed to be, I guess. Luckily by the end of the movie you will have a general idea of what??s going on. If you have the first one, it doesn??t really help. Don??t worry though it??s still a great story just hard to follow but you??ll still enjoy the show.

Modding/5: Words that descried the mods: wow, amazing, triumph, supreme, brilliant, any thing above good would work. All the new and old mods were great especially the new star craft with the spinning turbine (or whatever it represented) and the building add-ons. I also liked the way you made the tanks move, highly original. Literally, every scene had a mod whether the amount was big or small. The only thing I wonder is what??s with all the make-up.

Camara/5: Another great part of the movie was the camera work. Everything was smooth and flowing and no miss shots were made (backdrop ends). You??ll also get a felling of no repeating scenes because almost every scene was custom.

Editing/5: Everything from custom overlays to VOs was in here and very well done. The VOs were crisp and real while the overlays were smooth and well done. The cutting was also very neat with no unusual switching from scene to scene.

Conclusion: This literally a perfect TMO movie that will go down in TMO history. Everything was well done from editing to the modding. If you don??t watch it you??ll be missing out on one of the greatest TMO movie ever.

Wow. I've been waiting a while for this one. I've even been visiting your studio every day to see if it was out yet. I literally screamed with excitment when I saw it was finally released. These are the positive aspects to the movie.

Modding- There have been a lot of suck up directors out there who get their movies hotpicked because they have good modding. That's not the case with this movie. You're an awesome modder, and I can see you have fun doing it, but the story always comes first in your movies.

The Characters- The acting was fantastic, and the charaters were suprisingly realistic.

The Story- The movie builds you up really well, and although your movies ar often very tragic, it was still a suprise whenever a charcter died. The story was also amazing. While being pretty simple, and not mind boggling, you are still able pull off a movie with a gripping, intense plot.

The Feelings- Wow, wow and WOW. No other movie on TMO has made me feel this deeply sad. First you get us to know the charcters as the individuals they are, showing us their good and bad sides, and then you take them from us! How could you?(lol)But seriously, it was even more tragic than your other movies. The feeling that I got the most came at the end. The way the character runs, not thinking about anything else happening in the world, and then slowly, slowly she begins to walk. I felt more alone then I ever have in my entire life.
ROCK ON, soul brother, ROCK ON!

It's been a while since I've seen a movie on TMO that raised the bar, this one does it.

Movies are a visual medium first and foremost, this movie is pure eyecandy. It's the Blade Runner of TMO! There is a distinct visual style on display here, not just a mishmash of whatever is laying around.

I liked the story and voice acting too. I thought the voicework brought much needed humanity to the enviroment. The level of craftsmanship is just off the charts, not many people's movies show their dedication to the art like this one does. Directing and editing are spot on.

The music, though mostly used well, is a bit distracting in a few scenes. It's a minor quibble to me though, and considering what is going on in the movie, it actually contributes to the 'feel' in its own way.

This is an instant TMO classic.

Rik...

That was absolutely incredible. I have been waiting so, so long for the release of K7 Quarantine and now it's finally here I'm utterly amazed at it's standard!

This has to be one of the best movies ever created on TMO.
The V.O.S. were amazing the overlays, music, mods... everything was just perfect in every way.

I take off my hat to you Rik.

This is an amazing experience that no person on the TMO community should miss out on.

I am 100% definitely hotpicking this movie in December and no doubt it will go straight to first place.

Congratulations, another brilliant movie from a brilliant Studio.

The opening is spectaucular.I love in the beginning you introduce the characters, the time, the whole nine. DUDE! the music incorparation is fantastic! Any fool willing to say the music is bad...I waiting to hear something better, It vibed so good! esp. to a SCI-FI film, the music carries you through the entired film like a cloud, you captured not only my visional attenion but my listening too! Great musical score! Great credit work. The end was sad. Some scenes throw you off but a steady watcher could glue the pieces together
Final Thought-with this you have the skill to make a impact in the film world, the capabilites this movie has you can do work out their. I sat and watched a 20min film and wanted to see more.Sequel must be in the works so I'm going to wait. Its people like you that make me feel that i'm making the right decision in my life to pursue film production.

This movie must be the best Sci-Fi i've ever seen on TSO. My only grudges are:

1) was the new inspector in love with lucy or rachael?

2) the voice acting on the main scottish bad guy was woefully underdeveloped

3) why does the infection turn people into white robots?

and lastly...

I DEMAND A SEQUAL! You could call it: K7: Sustanance. Have it focus more on Lucy and how she escapes the jungle, then provide a tie in to the end of the infection war. you could even do a potential trilogy with this i think.

This movie blew my mind. KUTVFGW!

Well, I'll start like all reviews for this here movie start...
The modding was superb. Your 'Near Future' sets (which have been done to death in Sci-Fi films, despite being excellent) were given a whole new look through the amazing set dressing...
The costuming is also well done. Everything fit well into the world that you created. But, as usual, I'll now rant about the plot:
I saw the film three times (not at once, but over a month or two) and still I was confused... So I watched the original K7 and had a brief moment of revalation. The leader of the infected was the boyfriend of the main character in in the original K7... Wait, what the crap?
I still didn't know what caused the infection.
I still didn't know who the 'corporation' that the mayor mentioned where.
I still had only a vague understanding of who the aliens were.
Possibly releasing a prequel to show us how the world of k7 transformed into the world of k7: Quarantine.
Still, the film was superbly orchastrated, and was a treat to watch.
That long 26 minutes flew by.
Thanks for making this film!

Total: 5 Stars

Overall, probably the best movie I've seen.

Well, finally got round to watchng this. Stunning to look at and edited brilliantly for pacing. I loved the music and there's where the problems started for me. I always isten with headphones and I think this is the first film where I've had to turn the volume down. The music was so loud and so incessant that I could tell nothing of the story, or hear any of the VOs. It was almost like a 26 minute music video, but a damned good one.

A fantastic film that drives from start to finish. Anyone can see that some great thought went into this fast moving production. Once this movie grabs hold of the viewer it will not let go. If there is a downside to this epic I think it might be that not everyone will understand it. There were parts where I was lost and had to refocus as to what was happening. This might cause some to bail out before end where some of the best scenes and drama lie hidden in the smoke and ruins. As for myself, I think this is a grand piece of work well worth my struggle to understand it all. This film also displays the result of great vision. It is hard to believe that so many creative and talented people would band together for such a huge project and pull it off so well. I'm glad they did.

My goodness! This is what Epic is supposed to be. The sheer scope of this, the skillful weaving of multiple plotlines, and the script and voice acting have turned this into something which would have cost more than Spider-Man 3 if it were a "real" movie. In thirty minutes, you created a magnificent adventure which shows how shallow and weak stuff like Independence Day and the subsequent Matrix movies after the first are. This thing LITERALLY set a bar for excellence.

This is the work of a master and an outstanding team!

Wowzers. I love mostly the camera work - how you placed and moved the camera in places most movie don't do. The editing is paced like a Hollywood movie. Your music is perfect for the movie and emotions. I must say I am kinda lost as to what was going on. Mostly I couldn't figure out who was who, what team they were, and why this all happened. But this is my fault - I have a hard time understanding even movies in real life if everything isn't explained to me. But what I do get is great. :) Excellently done movie. How long did it take you to make this movie? Blows my mind to even try to think of it.

Once again I look about and find these incredible talents that everyone knows about except me.. and tonight that happened.I found a killer!
With 31 pages of reviews I'll keep mine succinct.

Rik has an incredible eye with the camera. His photography..cinematography editing..ability to make a shot look it's absolute best,is undeniable.
I was floored by it, I'll admit.

The music, and original creation by Rik was professionaly done and worked very, very well most of the time. Personally, I like to see it "breathe" a bit more, with quiet moments of dialogue rather than the carpet effect.
Nonetheless, the music in this film was very effective and super-well crafted.

I had some minor problems with voice levels, one scene had a very low talker,
and against the continual music, this obscured it a bit more.

But Rik I take with me a great impression of you with this incredible film,
bravo!

Sorry that I'm 6 months late for the party.. but hey here I am!

Lots to say about this. The cinematography in this film should not just be described in the terms of "good", "excellent", "awesome" and "breathtaking", though it's all four and more. The cinematography is no less than revolutionary for TMO, combining amazing overlay action, superb camera manipulation, and fitting soundtrack. This movie is amazing on many, many levels. The VOs are also generally at the level you'd expect from a movie that has so many big names.

Then why am I giving it a 4? What could possibly deter me from wishing there was a sixth star to award such a daring production? Well, just one pesky little thing called plot. Or rather, the mangled remains of what was one, perhaps. See, we get a lot of teasers and interesting bits, like the Infected and the whole futuristic city angle, how it's being run etc.
We have the beginnings of interesting characters, and interesting plots. We get interesting sci-fi angles, lots of foreboding, lots of possible evelopment. Stuff is obviously about to happen.
...And then, nothing is followed through. It's a good thing if at the start of your movie the viewers ask themselves: "What is going on? Why are these things happening?". It's a *bad* thing if they're still asking themselves this after the end credits. A lot of the conflict in the movie seems either contrived or pointless. Indeed, I couldn't get rid of the nagging feeling that the whole plot was just an excuse to show stuff blowing up (spectacularly) and use some big names for added punch. But as a story? Poorly done.

So. If this was designed purely as a demonstration of cinematography and effects, this would be a six-star review. As I see it though, this is supposed to be a serious sci-fi hit, a film in its own right, and while it uses a lot of schticks to enthrall the viewer, the story is ultimately much less than interesting. Therefore, 4-star.

Keep up the quality, and you'll no doubt have many more big hits on your hands. Just don't forget the writing next time.

I have no idea what is wrong with em. Unless there is a movie i think in your next epic movie u need to add a little backround info. Im am surprised that this movie doesnt have 5 stars. You should try entering it in a contest in the future, you are sure to win in!!!! It is rare(for me personaly) to watch a movie of this length and watch it all. With the begging it had a pull feeling to it. By that i mean it keeps you in suspense on how it will end/

Im sitting here with a strange feeling, i cannot explain the thoghts that was runnig through my mind after seing this magnificant piece of art. Yes! Art. This is truly one of the most gripping films i have ever seen (from The Movies), but even so, i thought it was a little complicated at times, but thats ok, complicated "weird" films are my favourites. Weird! im talking "Dark City", "Dune", "Mulholland drive", (David Lynch films) etc!

It really is rare seeing a film like this on TMO! movies that has been put a lot of effort into, in Voice over, music, "set design" etc.

When the movie ended i just wanted to see more, much more. even thoug it is almost 30 min long, it would be awesome to se a 2 hour epic of this, hehe!

This is truly a movie worth watching. i loved every minute of it.

Story: 5/5

Music: 4/5 (little repetetive)

Salut!

Bonne continuation!
à bientôt.
ciao

Amazing direction, espially the war scenes are one of the best on TMo I've seen to date. Music is intensiv and very atmospheric, sometimes maybe too offensive, but it rocks. VOs are good, sometimes I didn't really understand 'em.

The script is great, may it was at some stages (actually in the beginning) confusing. The old trick with the end at the beginning works very fine.

Well...Rik, you did an amazing job here. I don't wanna think of how much work went into this movie and it pays off.

First off, this is the very best movie I've seen on The Movies to date in terms of technical acheivement.
You've shown the true value of the custom camera angles and overlays which most people overuse to the point of...well becomming 'bleh'
All your sets were well thought out and fit in brilliantly, you mangaged to use the same identical set almost 5 times with simple texture changes and create entirely new environments.

The one problem (other than some of the voices, but that's never your fault) is that the plot leaves me a little confused and frustrated. I watched it twice to make sure I wasn't missing something. I don't think enough time was spent explaining the world the film is set in, which is a very important thing to do in Sci-Fi. I also thought there was just a bit too much going on in such a short time frame. What starts out as a 'people against the man' style story becomes an alien invasion story and it just seemed very slapped together without establishing the context.
Perhaps creating a prequel will help flesh out the world a bit more, establish what this infection is (is it even real) and even who these strange visitors are.

It just seems like you've crammed what should be a 90 minute film into a 30 minute one.

However, I had fun watching it (except a few moments where I was just a little 'wtf') You've created quite a film here. One you should be very proud of!

Keep on making films, I'll be watching you :)

Cheers
-Mike

It is impossible to tell you what this film means to me. I have no words for it. This is a masterpiece like I had never seen before on this website. It's just amazing, and I don't know where you got the creativity from. It is my number 1 movie, I can tell you!

Great movie, like many TMOers I've been waiting to see what you could do with the sci-fi genre. I wasn't dissapointed. The setting and atmosphere were some of the best I have seen. I loved the slow build-up, the way you get to know the characters, their backgrounds and feelings. That's just plain good writing. I loved the music and the repeated use of cuts back to the girl on the subway - great atomsphere building. I won't gush over the effects, sets and mods, thats been done in a hundred other reviews. All I'll say is that I've downloaded them and am currently using them in my latest epic - thanks.
If I had to find a critisism,it would be that towards the end (about 20mins in) the story became a bit confusing. I think there were just too many ideas and not enough time to expand them all fully.
I'll finish by saying that this is the only movie on TMO that I have downloaded and kept.

This film goes beyond being possibly the greatest sci-film on TMO, but this actually put real life sci-fi films in their place. You didn't just cross the line into cinematic genius, you completly destroyed the line. Thats all i really have to say since everything else has already been said. And I wanted to thank you personally because I have downloaded some of your sets and read some of your advice on forums and that I have been using in my film series The Sunset Prophecy, one of which is currentl second in the sci-fi charts. I would like any comments/advice from you on it if you have time. Once again, thank you, and you are a movie making master.

And to finish killing me, you compose your own music, taht's what a call a complete man ! Just keep on making us dreaming. 5 Stars is not enough compared to what we usually in the sci-fi charts. Thanks again for that great masterpiece.

What an absolute treat of a movie this is, a rollercoaster ride from start to finish. The amount of work that went into this is obvious to anyone who actually sits and watches it properly from all the way through.

The camerawork is excellent throughout and the soundtrack keeps things moving along nicely.

The scriptwriting is faultless and the VA's competently and ably deliver their lines.

This movie is an absolute must-see and a real privilege to watch. Long may you make many more.

I am literally in awe after watching the unbeatable masterpiece that this film is. I sincerely apologize, first of all, for being so late to review...though I made sure I got here and got a piece of this beautiful, inspiring work of true art. First off, I would like to congratulate on the spectacular plotline...it was very riveting, surprising and intense, and kept me hooked all the way through. Every single character had depth, and for the first time, I really felt like this was a film with such good voice-acting and pure flowing excellence that each character seemed well-beyond pixels and polygons, and almost very life-like.

And I could tell that everything was planned from detail. You designed several amazing music tracks to comprise the powerful soundtrack of this film...the music playing in the background was great and could keep the pace flowing perfectly. The editing was top-notch material, done to perfection. Everything worked perfectly for the film, and there is nothing to criticize. On top of that, you designed mods to help you with this film and make the story come to life and leap at us beyond our computer screen. And I'll tell you: It really did leap out at me, and the modding is probably one of the best ever seen on TMO. Fantastic work, Rik. The 30 minutes in length of this film sped by in an instant, and I was dissappointed to see it pass through my eyes so very quickly.

Hope you'll resolve the cliffhanger ending soon!

A very interesting and technically superior film. I don't know if it was intended, but I saw a few shades of THX-1138 and Blade Runner peppered throughout. I confess I prefer films with a happy ending, but this does manage to have some emotional impact -- a quality that I've only seen in a few films here on TMO.

The custom content here ia absolutely fantastic! The sets, the props, as well as the music.

My only minor gripes:
The music is too loud in a number of places. I suspect this has to do with the fact that you composed it and are therefore partial to it. ;)
In a few places, I thought the editing was a bit spastic. I don't know if this is a valid criticism, however, as this could be a direct result of the video quality of the online export.
And lastly, I wish we could see a high-quality export of this!

- otnemem20

Very impressive overall. I can tell that you have been influenced by the more action-oriented sci-fi films of the 80's and 90's. The movie's sense of scale is huge, and you really know how to put the viewer into the chaos of war. The atmosphere you created was very believable. The scenes with the firemen were very dramatic and heartbreaking; this was definately the high point of your movie. Most importantly, you had a good ending. However, I have a few critiques. Although the movie was technologically very impressive, the music was too loud since I could not hear a lot of the dialogue, making the story harder to follow. Also, you overused the fade effect to the point where I was noticing it every single time. Finally, I feel that the movie started too slowly. Try to spread your dialogue and explanation throughout the entire movie so that the audience does not get to comfortable.

I thought this because of the music playing through most of it, made it seem very rushed. I understand that you can't make an hour and a half epic without it taking days to upload, but it still is a very good movie!

Best movie i have eva seen! this was the best movie i have eva seen on TMO!
at first i didn't think it was the best movie, (when i was reading the discription) but when i watched it, i earned 5 starts right away! the only bad thing was it was a bit long, i think you could have made it a little shorter by taking out some fight scenes. but it dosen't matter it was fancastic! Make sure you make another if you have the time. or a better one.

Impressive movie, it was really well made. The music was one of the best part of the movie, it always fits the movie perfectly.

This is how a lengthy movie should be done! When I realized how long this movie was going to be I immediately worried about getting bored halfway through. However, right from the very start this movie grabbed and kept my attention for the entire duration which is extremely impressive!

The use of free cam to make dull scenes exiting was fantastic, the pacing was extremely fast paced and incredibly well done. Lot's of solid editing, great sound effects, perfectly fitting sound track for the entire movie. The use of blue filters to add to that somber feel was a great choice and the custom credits really enhanced that movie feel.

In fact, the movie feel was so well captured that watching this movie with the lights off really made it feel like I was in the theatre. The acting was well done and believable, it wasn't hammy and overacted but real solid honest performances. The action scenes were extremely well done and intense, sometimes the movie would go by so fast you would think that you were watching a theatrical trailer!

The mods used really enhanced the atmosphere of the movie allowing you to believe in this sci fi world as something that could be believable. Excellent production, and I enjoyed every moment of it!

The Movies and S&E contains alot of things to tweak, and mess with, but this film makes it seem like anything is possible. As if it goes beyond the game really. You are clearly able to look at the scenes and just see what you need, cutting away the rest. Even when you are using the same parts over and over. Some films don't do this very well. The editing/structure/pacing demonstrates this flawlessly.
I hope you cannot read through this and detect my raging jealousy!!
Hehehe;)

The writing, music, and VO is great. This community really works well together.
My only nitpicks are:
As exciting, and well executed as the end battle was, I felt it dragged just a bit, or needed some kind of clarification as to what the objectives were. Around mintue twenty actually, is the first time while watching that I even thought about looking at the time elapsed. And at some point in there I found the music a bit distracting. All in all minor quips.
Congratulations on the best movie I've watched to date!

There is only one possible way to ever describe this film and that is with the term "Breath taking"
One of the greatest, not just limited to TMO, short films ever made. Period.

One of the greatest movies I have ever seen.

It inspired me to make a movie that could maybe become half as good as that, and the storyline was something that gripped the viewer waiting for the end.

VO 9/10
It would have been way cooler if you would've done more voices with the robots. The other characters were clean and clear. Another problem, however, is at the beggining where the guy goes "Target down, I repeat, target down!" Well yea. He kinda sounds like hes stoned on the job, but it was a good job.

Storyline 10/10
Very good storyline. Thats all I have to say about it.

Music 10/10
Very good music. Everything fit with the moment, and sucked you in so you felt right inside the movie.

Props and Mods 10/10
The mods were beuatiful, and I was curious on how you got the tank to move. Must have dressed a moving vehicle or something.

Overall 9.8/10
Brilliant movie, and the 9.8 is rounded up, thus giving you 5 stars. :)

5* no question...great music...great modding...good story if a little long winded.

I wasn't amazingly impressed with the VO though I'm afraid. Roger in particular doesn't have the kinda voice to pull off what I thought the guy was supposed to be like...but we have to make the best of a small pool of voice talent.

That said, it didn't really subtract from my enjoyment of the movie...bravo :)

Rik, this was a great movie and I was honored to have starred in it alongside all of those great names. I think the wait was most definetly worth it. You've done an amazing job in all areas of this movie, and though it had a lot of mods, it wasn't a mod showcasing movie. You had a very solid story there too! Anyways, great movie and very inspiring. I only hope I can be as good as you someday!

The high praise this film has received is well deserved. You created a fascinating and complex world, immersed viewers in it, and then made it more fascinating and much more complex.

Sure, the mods and overlays are great, as expected, but these are easily overshadowed by the brilliant story, great voice actors performing very well-written dialogue and a musical score that is pure perfection, especially in the climax.

The length of this film has been mentioned in a few reviews - I think to make it even one minute shorter would have detracted significantly from it; there wasn't a single unnecessary scene from beginning to end. Plus, on account of all the film's great features mentioned above, 26 minutes is nothing - this film could be aired on TV and people would wonder why it ran so short.

The camera-work, a favourite topic for me, was brilliant and cinematic in this movie. The frames were each filled out nicely and the way the camera seems to pan it's way across each scene as we near the finale impressed me greatly.

This is one of the benchmark films of TMO. When someone new comes to the forums and asks "so, what's the absolute best I can expect to achieve with this game?" people will direct them to this film. It's a masterpiece, by any standard, and deserves all the great recognition it continues to receive.

(speechless)

I don't know where to begin. This is by far one of the, if not the best movies on TMO. I was blown away by the opening and ending credits. The use of freecam was the best I have seen. The music was perfect. VO's were great. The editing was to die for. The story was amazing.
I really enjoyed this story. It had me gripped from beginning to end. I was never bored, and I enjoyed myself the entire time. You had a good use of twists, and moments to explain things. Great job!
The editing was SUPERB! The scene with the firemen was amazing. The battles were done beautifuly. Freecam was used so well that some of the scenes felt like a real movie. I don't know if it can get much better.
The music was very good. at times I did feel music wasn't needed, but it was still very good. Great job
The Vo's were crisp, and pretty easy to hear. You casted some very good actors and actress that really brought emotion to the characters! The governor had to be the best actor in my opinion.
If this isn't a good sci fi movie, I don't know what is. There was even action, romance, and did I detect a pince of horror. Maybe not, but anyway very good movie. I loved it.
The ending left me speechless. I have a hard time finding sci fi movies on TMO that I actually like, but this one is for sure the best hands down. I would recommend this to anyone. Great job, and keep up the good work!

A phenomenal effort here - the sets were very good, as were the battle scenes. I liked the fast editing in these sequences too.

Where the film wasn't so successful was in the narrative and characterisation departments. In half-an-hour I never felt that I got to know any of the characters properly, there was only one decent dialogue scene I can remember (Lucy and her policeman boyfriend). The story was very confusing to follow, no time was allowed for any of the lines or setups to have a dramatic impact. Things moved too fast to be able to keep up with what was going on.

The music was overused to the point of turning the film into a sonic dirge. It kept the same tempo and stuck in the same major key throughout. At times, this drowned out the dialogue - at other times it simply didn't fit the mood of the scene. By not changing the mood of the music to fit the mood of the scene, the whole film became like a massive trailer in style; 26 minutes of fast-edited scenes with the same music playing underneath. It was this, for me, that was the major weakness in the film. Not the composition itself, but the way it was used like sonic wallpaper over the whole film.

I feel like giving this a 3, but the titles were brilliant! I want to watch this again just because of those.

Ok picture this...

All my family friends and collegues sit down in my living room, with my flat screen 20-inch com[censored!]r screen watching this full screen. My living room was packed full of people wanting to see this film. About 30 of them. Well...

This was the closest to a film anyone on TMO has got. The scenes flowed majesticly and no one took their eyes off the screen for the whole 26 minutes. The VO's, I actually regonized one or two, which made the film feel more real. They were perfect and I give my credit to the actors.

The Story, amazing, brilliant if not epic.

I would like to add 100 more stars, and you have made half my street come and watch a film. They all are going to get The Movies now :D.

A great film, which helped Lionhead make some money as well!

I have strived to capture the feel of a theatrical release via a TMO film, but this one achieves it. Magnificient job. The tale, the characters, and the custom content all contribute to the success of this grand achievement. Unpretentious and uncompromising, this film has it all. This was also the first film I've seen from Rik, and what a first impression that was.

The modding was also very good: the moving tanks f.x. I checked out your website and you have made some really great sets and costumes.

The story was great, everything and I wish you good luck with future projects and moddings.

--The END--

**MOMC Review**

The first thing that really stood out to me in this film, and continued to stand out the whole way through, was your excellent use of the freecam. I had so many 'how did he do that?' moments that I lost count. :p

The music was also something that stood out, it was all good and suited the film extremely well.

The characters were all unique and well defined, your writing and the performance from all the VAs were top notch. :)

Now, there were some things that let this movie down.
The music was often too loud, or perhaps the VOs were too quiet, either way I often had trouble hearing what some characters were saying. This often made it difficult to become full immersed in the story...
The story was, at times, rather difficult to keep up with. I can recall several times during the movie where I was wondering what was going on, or how certain things came to happen... I was also left wondering what the infection was, something I thought I would learn during the movie... (Or did I miss it?)

So, overall, a great movie, an excellent cast, the mods were great (I love all of the near future sets, hehe) and an interesting story... A few let downs, unfortunately.

4.4

Well Rik..
This was awesome on so many different fronts.
From the very first opening Credits we are swooped up
& taken for a Fantastically Eyeboggling trip.
The Camera work is just exceptional.
The moods & atmospheres created..
The flow of scenes & actions from 1 to the next..
The VO's are top Notch stuff..
Speaking of the other VA's there..
I was very happy with my own for this film though.
The Music, you KNOW I'm a big fan of your
awesome musical creations. I loved this stuff again.
The Custom Sets & props are just incredible stuff..
So unique & detailed. Love em.
The Storyline is great too..
There were a few moments on my first viewing of the movie
that I became a little lost,
but, on my 2nd & 3rd viewing everything fell into place.
A mammoth undertaking of a movie.
All the hours of work have paid off..
This is a No 1 Movie through & through..
For so many reasons.
Well done on an exceptional Flick
& THANKS for inviting me to be a
little part of this

I have been waiting for a movie like this. I movie that reminds me of the old TMO. Some #1 charting movies come and go, but this one will stay for a while! It is a work of art! Your Michael Angilo, and this movie is the Sistine Chaple. I have never seen another movie on TMO that has such a great story, such great twists and turns, and such great voice overs.
A great movie takes a lot of things. First of all it takes a great story. This story is without a doubt the best story on TMO right now. Out of 115,000 movies, yours is the best. Thats an acheivment. A great director is needed, and you ofcourse are a great director. You've given us Dream Town, and K7. This movie was awesome.
Overall, this movie was fantastic. All the storylines meet to have one explosive ending. It is 26 minutes of your life you know you will have spent well. A job well done. If I could give you an award for this, I would. The Best Picture award. Fantastic!

all i can say is that it is simply amazing, first let me start of saying that i'm sorry it took me so long to get to watch it, i mean i loved the trailer but the film was something else.

the story is amazingly original and brilliantly shown through the film. a civilized town with futurastic police or army force controls the citizen to minimse crime when suddenly they get attacked by both humans and aliens at the same, and the way you finished it of was great.

the edting and custom sets were very cool, some of the best i've seen in TMO
the music was perfect it matched every scene perfectly and sutied the mood.
for Vo you had a brilliant crew i put my hands together for them.

Overall this film deserves all the awerds it gets and more simply brilliant, two thumbs up for me

A dazzling spectacle of light and sound that really gets the adrenachrome pumping to maximum velocity! Hahaha! WTF!? Once again, Rik, you show us how it's done. From the trailblazing, techno-operatic soundtrack, to the hyper kinetic, action onslaught; k7~Quarantine will leave even the most staunch reviewer breathless. Simply combustible! ~ Kudos!!!

Wow, Rik, what a breathtaking tour de force! What a movie.. what great visuals, freecam, what a sad story! I loved it, the special effects and mods added so much to this! I must admit that at some times, I was a bit confused, everything happened so fast (and the vo´s were a bit hard to hear sometimes, it´s always hard for me to follow then), I think I will have to watch it again to get all the dialogue, but the movie kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through, and time just flew by! The music drove the story ever onwards, and the scene where the robots shot the girl gave me the shivers - it was so wonderfully laid out! Great movie, and I think this one will hold on to the top of the charts for a long time!

Wow...

Very well done. Incredible mod work, great music, and visuals that completely blew me away. I felt the story left a little to be desired, but the visuals you presented really made up for it. I had to watch some parts twice in an attempt to try and figure out how you did some things. All-in-all a masterpiece. You've proved once again that modding is the future of The Movies.

Ok, a brief overview. That was the Dog's Bollox! (that means great, just in case anyone misunderstands.)
Great action, effects, characters, customs, music, editing, camerawork, cuts and titles, you name it, a great piece of TMO Sci-Fi and a pleasure to watch.

Flaws? Well, your nominal hero and heroine went walkabout and practically disappeared for almost half of the movie, which dramatically cut the impact of their last scenes together.
The long combat scenes lost their human scale and became less effective without cutting to short scenes of dialogue from the characters to keep us investing personally in their fate.
The invasion seemed a little bit 'bolted on' rather than an organic part of the whole story. It would have maybe worked better if their arrival and motivation resonated more with the Mayors, or even with the Rebels themselves, maybe created an ironic tension to add depth to the over-arcing story.

Even with these considerations it was a great watch, an impressive piece of work and high standard of Sci-Fi.
I really enjoyed it.
Great work.

Excellent movie! The sets, overlays, costumes, props, and backgrounds are excellent. The voiceovers very good. Good custom music although it seemed over used some what. The freecam, scene selection and editing first rate. The story was good, I'll admit it was hard for me to understand at first, but by the end I got it. It was something different seeing all these people on different sides. Then seeing what became of them in the horrors of war. You caught the massive destruction of war very well with this movie. Awesome job!

A Critic's Center Detailed Review

Feature Comment:
This was such a pleasure to watch for our team as this story builds a hot surface. This is the best use of The Movies Game we've seen so far. This is something that can actually be aired on TV! Rik_Vargard is back, with the best movie on TMO to date.

Story:
95%
This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat all the way through. Action packed with Science Fiction, it's really the most flashy movies around. The script was very well written, and we're really happy to see that this movie has been great.

Voice Overs:
99%
The hottest voice-actors on TMO, and they really were shining in this one. Each voice actor really fit their role, and their acting was fantastic. A well chosen cast, and the actors really played their parts well.

Music/Sound:
94%
The original music gave this movie an extra touch like we've never heard before. It flowed very well with this movie. The sound effects matched up really well and even more the overall sound F/X was definentely great, making this movie pleasing audio wise.

Mod Showcase Value:
98%
From the beginning all the way to the very end there was some really awesome mod work. It looked so professional and entertaining. Flawlessy chosen and made mods that realy brought the story to life. The props were excellently done in this movie. Rik you are very talented in this area for sure! Outside editing and the overlays always make a film stick out from the rest. This movie was also visually stunning due to these excellent mods.

Bad News:
There wasn't too much that we could find that was bad about this at all. WE think it's that perfect that nothing needs to be worked on at all. But we don't like to leave you with nothing to work with. Sometimes the music was a little distracting at times, and was a bit unnecessary in some scenes. Other than that, well done!

The Rik_Vargard Studio Report:
100%
We've seen this studio grow from the earlier days of Dreamtown. We really see this as a powerhouse studio and it's great to finally see it in full form right now. This movie really brought up your status in our rankings. Right now it would be hard to find a better TMO studio out there than. This film really is the best around.

I'll review this movie in points, first time i've done this.

(1) Camera work well placed, a fare bit of moving which helps movies a lot. 10/10
(2) Visual and special FX marvulous, you captured the violence with such devotion to give your viewers something spectacular. An FX delight which will be hard to top. 10/10
(3) The most eye opening thing in the whole film to me was the mindblowing spacecraft which was seen in full near the end, great mod. 10/10
(4) your editing without a dought was the best seen so far. 10/10
(5) Music was good although a bit too much having the same theme through everything, the fighting, the triumph and sadness, a change here and there would have helped the atmosphere, and also it drowned out a fair bit of the film. 7/10
NOW TO THE HARDER REVIEW SIDE OF THINGS.

(6) I found the vo's to be too echoish, some characters where humans but sounded like robot voices. I picked out an aussie vo that stood out and over powered a little but that wasn't too bad, some vo's didn't realy seam to fit some characters, but not every person is as good as hollywood actors, so no real dissapointment in the voices. 9/10
(6) Story: Well, honestly i had no idea what was going on from the start to finish, i heard something about an infection, and it looked like a government being overthrown but that was all i knew, even watching the scenes and hearing the many different situations i was just lost, i had to watch to the end to see if it all came together, but i couldn't see it. 5/10

Final coment: I was very happy to see an action/sci-fi movie use the full exstent of the game FX ,overlays, mod and more, the only thing that lacked was the storyline.

5 stars for the superb effort.

WOW!!! A sci-fi masterpiece!!! I truly loved this movie, it is so unique and stylish!!! I loved the way in which everything in this movie came together and did one hell of a job, for example: the music was really amazing and added real effect to the scenes it was used in, I loved all the use of modding, the cool overlays, the epic storyline was very enjoyable and unique than any other sci-fi tmo movie!!!! I loved the cast you had in this movie, the voice-overs were absoutly amazing!!!! Wicked!! I also loved the free-cam shots, they really made the movie look amazing, also, the sound effects you used throughout the movie were very good indeed!!!
Movie percentage= 100%= Overall, this movie is amazing, unlike any other sci-fi tmo movie I have seen for ages, the time wasn't wasted at all, it wasn't bored, never a dull moment and bloody well worth it mate!! I really enjoyed everything about this movie, the story, the music, the cast, etc, everything was outstanding!!! Excellent work!!! I can tell a lot of work has gone into this movie like others have said and it shows!!!!!

All in all it's damn good. The mods, the story, etc. I liked the way you put the freecam to work, it really enhanced certain scenes, the edtiing was good too.

Only 2 things detracted for me. One, the plot. It was so THICK! more like a hour and a half movie rather than the 27 minute we saw. It I kept up, some terrorists were planning an attack on the city hall/central building and at the same time, the space pirate (The real hero of course, ) happened to attack. The pirate seems more of coincidence than anything else, unless the terrorists worked for him to bring the defenses down for his attack. Dulci's character was the only survivor and managed to flee the city for the countryside.

All this comes down to pacing, pacing, and more pacing. Just slow down a wee bit to give us time to keep up.

The second thing was the music. The constant music score also detracted a bit. It never stopped, and therefore never gave us the chance to digest one part before moving on to the next.

The last thing is Why? Why did the terrorists want to attack the center? Who were the infected? What was being quaraninted?

All that being said, this movie was a good one and I hope to see more.

Starting out with a gripping and intriguing opening scene and ending with a spectacularly creative display of camerawork, Rik takes on a surprising visual journey here, with state-of-the-art TM effects and modding, which once again makes this game look fresh. The visual aspect is the absolute highlight here, but does the story and plot hold up? I never got caught up in it as one would wish to. The boundaries between scenes were kind of diffused, maybe due to the continuous music (sometimes I felt I was on a dance floor with the constant beat), which made the impact of key events weaker than it could have been.

Despite that, this movie is still a visual leap and something to be admired and savored by many as it is a masterful example of what can be achieved in the scifi arena. The acting is solid, but not as dramatic as the images would suggest. It is no small feat to maintain the viewer??s eyes entertained for almost thirty minutes, and this movie definitely achieves that.

- Tarison

I have always been able to rely on Rik_Vargard to raise the bar on scifi. What's more he always does it when I'm preparing my own scifi, but that's another story.

I found this really entertaining, and for me, the best part of the whole thing was the way each little piece of the puzzle unfolded, putting the many different groups with the same goal on a collision course -- we could see it coming a mile away, but it leaves you guessing until the very end about who will come out on top.

Mods, Camera, editing, *music* -- They're all great, and all by Rik. The thing that works so well with them, is they fit into the overall movie so seemlessly. It isn't like you turn around and think "Hey, this was a mod." because it all flows so nicely.

A first class job, Rik.

Samyhouse Studio Official Review

Editing 5/5

TOTAL 15/15 donc 5 Stars!

Epoustouflant!
Chapeau, l'artiste!

OK, just sat through what can only be described as an epic in TIME terms. And I MUST be honest, it didn't do what I hoped it would and that is to blow me away and entertain me.

I cannot fault the modding, the camera work, the editing and the production but there were a few things that didn't come up to the same standard.

This may shock some, but some of the VA didn't fit their roles, yes they are all brilliant and everyone on TMO loves them, but for me some didn't fit.

I also felt that the story was a little flat, yes the Sci-Fi lovers will probably lynch me for saying this, but the story was so cliché.

Another point which will get me the same effect, the music was a little samey. I regard you as a great musician but I so wished I'd heard those swelling strings lift up the emotion of the battle, a lone violin moving us when the characters we have watched, die. I love both electronic dance music and orchestration, but nothing beats orchestration for building emotion. Granted many will disagree but this is how I see it and I must be honest.

I??m sure this is up there with the best TMO has to offer, I??m sure hundreds of TMOer??s will love this. I felt it never quite made its mark on me, really, REALLY sorry, but this is a 4 star movie for me :)

Let's just say, impressive camera angles, awesome modding and setdressing, blew me away! But this is why you lose a star... Maybe it's because I don't dig too much sci-fi, but the story didn't tell me much. My mind went blank on the story but you kept me through by the visuals. And another thing made me lose the story, the music... It was too loud, and sometimes even a bit too much. But other then that it's a great movie.

The movie is amazing!

The voice acting was great, the music was awesome, and the script was intense. Such a well developed plot line, and action that didn't seem cheesy.

5 Stars!

Well Rik, this is a tough one...
All credit and respect for undertaking such a mamoth task.
All praise for giving it your own special feel, look and sound like no other can.
I very much like the visual touches like the credits, security cam and the mindboggling modding in textures, sets, clothing and add-ons.
But, I also had a hard time following, specifically because the retextured sets and fast editing made it difficult to easily understand who was where at any given time. The best parts, for me, were the dialogue parts, at a slower pace and better established and with first class voice acting.
The second part of the movie had way to much action and, although beautifully done, more isn't always better. It all came together at the end again but I did spent the better part of 10 minutes trying to figure out wat was going on, with the intercutting of two storylines: the resistance part and the invasion part. It's a bit what George Lucas likes to do also. I also noticed you used wipes between scenes in the beginning as well (nice touch), another Lucas trick.
Overall a very impressive movie. Visually astounding and fast paced action packed. I would very much like to see the script because I believe it looks very good on paper but I think you got a bit carried away in the editing phase.
Still, nothing less then 4.5 stars. My compliments :)

I am 100% definitely hotpicking this movie in December and no doubt it will go straight to first place.

Really good storyline and it went well with the music; I also liked the ending well done.
