Dnr my friend, you have finally outdone yourself to the extent where it will be hard for me to find words to explain how I feel right now.

First, there was Anthony Buttafuco. You took the community by storm by being the first ever to produce a stand up comedy routine using TM, and you produced it to utter perfection. Then, after we thought that you couldn't get any funnier, you came up with an ingenious idea. TMO Kings of Comedy. You brought yourself, and countless other TMO comedians, and gave us, or at least me, something to watch over and over, and laugh harder and harder every time.

And now, here it is. The movie that proved to the TMO community that you can be more than the class clown, you can be the class president! I have been awaiting the release of this film ever since those days so long ago, when it was but a mere dream for you. Now, it is a fantastic reality, something that the TMO community should behold with honour, and be proud to say that 'Hey, look what The Movies is capable of! Look what we can do!' Congratulations on a splendid product, something that I will definately come back to. And, as an athlete, this movie touched me. It inspired me. I have heard my fair share of motivational speeches, ranging from a rah rah kind of thing that got your adrenaline pumping, to a meaningful speech full of truth and wisdom. This, is the latter of the two, and in my eyes, the better. Adrenaline only lasts for so long, but this my friend, this is worth the 10 minutes to explain, teach, and motivate.

This is a story of unselfishness, and honour. A story of family, and truth... a story of life, or what it should be. No, not boxing, but family, honesty, and not thinking only of yourself. You have done an amazing job at presenting the story of the Manicini's, and I am very sure that Lenny would be honoured, and that if you were to get a hold of Ray, he would be touched.

Thank you Dnr, thank you. Once again, you have proven to TMO that The Movies is not dead, and that it can still be used in a unique way, a fun way. Here's *The Breakdown*

Originality: 10/10
Plot/Story: 10/10
Editing: 5/5
Free Cam: 5/5
Audio (Music/VOs): 10/10
WOW ME: 12/10
Total: 52/50 ~ Congrats on achieving the coveted ALL CAPS WOW ME! And the very rare MANIACAL PERFECT SCORE of 52/50!

HIGHLY RECCOMENDED

Wow this movie is absoultely amazing! Done in true "Docudrama" style Mancini has the audience cheering, crying and glued to their screens. What a well told and unique story! Let this be a lesson to anyone who thinks that a sports movie cannot be done on TMO. This is truely a crowning achievement in moviemaking. From the heartfelt music to the all star cast this movie delivers on all fronts. Your use of backdrops to help tell Mancini's story was a work of pure genious. This movie deserves to be known as one of the greats in TMO movies. Terrific job DNR! A five star masterpiece!

While a fine comedic talent (as evidenced by his turns in "Anthony Buttafuco Are You Talking To Me" and "The TMO Kings Of Comedy"), many might fear that the often foul-mouthed and hammer-blunt DNR (see him in "Stir - Interlude") is going out on a very shaky limb by filming a soulful and reverent homage to a boxing legend with high dramatic style, historical accuracy, and good-old-fashioned heart-and-soul.

But have no fear. DNR doesn't, Mancini didn't, and neither should the viewer. There's nothing shaky about this film.

Excellent pacing and tone, great set choices, backdrops, creative editing, and outstanding mod work help transport us back to the real beginnings of Ray Mancini's life, offering a moving look at the real motivations behind Ray's relentless drive throughout his boxing career - to pay tribute, with his own life's work, to the accomplishments and support of his father.

In "Mancini", in the real Ray Mancini's life, and for DNR, as director and filmmaker, pride is no sin. It is clearly well-earned and well-deserved.

DNR, this is fine work that I'm pretty certain would have put smiles on the faces of both Ray and Lenny Mancini. I know that it put one on mine.

A beautiful drama not only of sports but of a bond with ones father. Two goals become one and the relationship gets built around the past and even more so looking onward.

In Mancini we get everything a good drama requires:
The drive to please or live out the dreams of the father.
The rise
The setback
The second chance
and then.....?

Well all i can say is that it was truly marvelous to watch, being i love bios and real type stories. Especially inspirational ones. Thisone was done to perfection only further highlighted by the great acting and directing..

Great Job...glad to see it all came together after hearing about it so long ago :)

A triumphant and moving docudrama, Mancini meticulously recreates the competitive boxing world, giving us a steady sense of veracity with an even-handed dose of melodrama. Mixing the fictive with the factual, DNR pushes filmmaking to its limits by hodgepodging, pastiching, and stitching together dramatic reenactments, archival photographs, dramatic narration, and some advanced modding. The end result is a delicious confection that delivers the documentary realism we never thought possible on TMO while granting the struggles of the Mancini dynasty an operatic grace. We see this world from a largely objective perspective, and yet DNR is able to make this a very emotional and spiritual journey for the audience, incorporating some truly virtuosic moves throughout all of this. The final moments, especially, make for truly powerful cinema.

And did I mention how much I love the acting chops of Lizard and AnotherNewDawn? Come on! These two are legends, a pair of first-rate thespians setting every word of dialogue aflame with their righteous performances. It was a treat to see them in the same movie ?? the chemistry and emotive power is unbelievable!

All in all, I never thought this sort of film was possible. Thanks for proving me wrong.

While you obviously dont need me to tell you that this is a great film, I will do so anyway. The voice acting was superb. The overlays and backdrops were excellent. I particularly loved the ring rope overlay used for some of your in ring shots. Very inventive. The level of detail involved as a whole indicates both a love of the story and a love for the craft. My favorite part about this movie is the pacing of the story. It never gets ahead of itself and always keeps the viewers attention. Excellent work.

I've seen this one long-time ago, but forgot to review it. I still have the same opinion about it. It's very good made, but I thought sometimes a bit unoriented in terms of narrating. Maybe just a feeling due to this father-son relation. Anyway, a well deserved five star movie!

A touching, emotionally outstanding movie. It's so well crafted, such a masterfully well done movie, that even people like me who don't really care about the subject (Boxing) can get into it. A brilliant job on your part, DNR. Thank you for making this out-standing movie and releasing it to the public. A true classic.

Beautiful film, mixture of drama and action...

VO - couldn't ask for a better performance let a lone cast performers.

Music - Great music selection fitting the dramatic and boxing action scenes...

Script/Story - Wonderfully written, a story better than Rocky Balboa....

Scene Creation - This was truely amazing the time and effect that must have went into this making each scene feel real. (Even with limited props)...

Backdrop - Awesome custom animated backdrops....

Overall a Wonderfully written boxer film with an out of this world VO cast/performance... Move over Sylvester Stallone here come Ray Mancini...

Wow, i can honestly say that is the first TMO movie that didn't feel like a TMO movie - and i mean that in the very best way. Technically the movie was flawless with amazing sets, props music vo's and editiong. The script was superbley written and acted beautifully. This is a truely original works that takes the viewer through an emptional 'snap shot' journey through the players lives.
An outstanding movie that is not done justice by a mere 5 stars.

Great tribute. I learned something about Ray I never knew.

The Good:
The story. Much research you must have done for this.
The mods. Nice robes and title belts.
The narration and voice-overs. Very well done.

The Bad:
A couple flickers here and there but nothing too distracting.

Overall:
Nicely done. The use of actual photos enhanced the film greatly. Nice job.

This.....I.....am speechless...

"Mancini" is one of the very greatest films ever to be put on this site. I had never really followed boxiing before, or ever really heard of Mancini, but this film, this film really made me feel for his family and his career in boxing.

Ok, now for the review. The vo's were incredible. Clear and loud enough so that you can hear it but it doesn't blow your ear drums to pieces. The music score was wonderful. Fit the story perfectly. Speaking of story, man, what a script! That was like hearing George Bush recite every scrap of research on Einstein's theory of relativity. Jaw-dropping!

You deserve these 5 stars, that was a really great film. Now I can tell people all about Mancini at dinner parties and such!

I??m not a fan of boxing, don??t know many of the names out there and never been remotely interested in the sport, but it doesn??t diminish stories displayed like this. The plot was great and slightly emotional in a way, I regret not being able to see a creative fight using The Movies engine like Blackbird, but then I suppose it wouldn??t show anything new that hasn??t already been done.

The movie seemed like those glimpses of celebrity??s lives we get from the biography channel and this allowed you to skip to the important parts without lingering around boring the audience. Voiceovers were well done both in accent and general tone, along with the music that carefully brought out the atmosphere needed.

How can you not rate a DNR movie 5 stars? I know I'm late with reviewing your movie, but oh well...better late than never right? Actually I don't need to review this. You got everything right, from an all star cast (of course you know how fond I am of you and Euphoria), to a perfect documentary, excellent sets, mods, drops, lays...ahh hell...I just hope to become even half as great of a filmographer as you! I'am still overwhelmed from your movie. First I've thought that this would be a Rocky like movie, but then as the movie started I was highly impressed about this unique original masterpiece. You've done a great job on all aspects. Also the performing of the cast is very impressive. Two thumbs up from me! :)

An inspirational short documentary told in a masterful way. I don't follow the world of boxing at all really, so this was completely new for me. When I saw the title, my first though was of Henri Mancini, the film composer. After watching this, I went out to discover just how accurate this documentary was in describing the life and events of the father-son duo. Great job!

The voice acting in this is also extraordinary! I don't include any categories in my rating system for voice acting ability, as my feeling is that TMO movies are essentially a hobby ?? there is no paid work (except maybe those fake VCs). If I did include it, rest assured the rating would be high.

Overall enjoyment: 35/35. This kept my interest up the entire way through, and never faltered for even a second.

Editing: 30/30. Fantastic editing! It's paced perfectly, and the music and sound was always at the right volume level. Scene choices always felt optimal.

Production Value: 13/15. In my toughest category, this comes extremely close to getting a perfect score yet again. It has an excellent title sequence, with some incredible animated overlays. Costumes, set dressing, and backdrops are used to full effect, and always appropriate. If you had added some closing credits, you would have received a perfect score.

Characters: 9/10. The characters appear to be portrayed consistently and accurately according to their respective histories. The only minor issue here is they could get a little extra screen time to build them up even more.

Dialog: 10/10. Great dialog, including the narration.

Total: 97/100.

5 stars! Practically perfect!

My suggestions: Wow, suggestions after this?!
The only suggestion I can possibly give here is to include closing credits, to make it a complete production.

The Archaic Awards
Review

Story: 10/10 A very good story, or should I saw biography. It followed a central plotline, and had its ups and downs. It was told brilliantly with the use of The Movies. Great job!

Music: 6/5 Very good music. I really think that it aided in the pleasure of this movie. It helped set a tone and move the story along. Great selection!

VO/Subs: 10/10 The VAs were very well chosen. They all did very well, and got the right emotions across. Good job!

Script: 5/5 A good script. It wasn't super special, but it had a good tone, and wasn't crap. That's always a good thing!

Extras: 6/5 Freecam, mods, and overlays + backdrops were amazing. They all put together aided in the success of this film. Great job! Relly great job!

Editing: 14/15 Really good editing, however I felt that the ending took to long and was almost rushed at the same time. I know this sounds weird, but that is how I felt. It was a very good film overall though, that you should be very proud of!

Final Score: 51/50

It's hard to say anything bad about this movie... It really hit all the right spots. Believable, well acted voice acting, a fresh story, smooth editing... and I must commend you on the scenes. The use of backdrops and overlays were breathtaking, especially inside the gym where Ray was training. You could feel the emotion emanating from the characters, which is hard to find these days. Fantastic movie, it was visually breathtaking. Great job!

Wow. A TMO Biography. Never really seen anything like it.

First off, your use of stop-go animation and custom props is excellent. You made a very good boxing training room out of the stage, and... Well, yeah. Nice props. The voice acting was pretty good, too, and it did manage to keep my interest. My big beef, though, was that the actors didn't look like the actual people in the photos, and there wasn't enough action for my tastes, but hey, it's your movie, and it's a pretty good one at that.

Scene Selection (Star Given)
I did over look the rocket at the begining of the film as I didn't feel it was used in it's creation. WHile a great deal of this film was a slide show I did feel the scene use in this film was good.

Entertainment (Star Given)
Show was entertaining to watch and kept be interested till the end.

Story (1/2 Given)
Story was borrowed from a real life events.

Voice acting or Subtitles (Star Given)
Voice acting was really good and well put together.

Editing (1/2 Given)
Editing looked great and the film did not have a jumping around effect to it.

Wonderful film and good tribute to Ray Mancini. For your viewing pleasure I suggest a hot bag of freshly popped popcorn and a diet coke.

Story: 4/5 Okay then. A movie about a boxer. I have never cared for this "sport", and I am therefor also having a hard time, caring for Mancini, whom I have never heard about before. But despite of my disinterest in boxing, I liked the way, the movie has been build up. I liked the real footage/pictures.

Subtitles: 2/5 There were a few, and they were both disturbing and unnessesary.

Voiceover: 5/5 That voiceover of yours were brilliant.

Music: 4/5 Pretty good.

Editing: 5/5 This movie was made in mod-heaven.

I have an contradictory feeling about this movie and it is maybe because that generally i do not like boxing films either boxing. So maybe i am a bad person to review this movie, at the first minutes of this movie i didnt catch the plot, you could have done the transition to the fathers past better, because i had to rewind the movie in to the beginning two times before i understood there was a transition and without reading movie description i would have probaply not understood this at all! Also it bothered me that there was no development for characters, this was maybe because im totally unaware of the story of the Manicini's, so this movie could have being a total fiction for me. Generally this wasnt a story, it was kind of shortened biography, atleast it is what im thinking. I would have gave it 3 stars, but considering the hard work you have clearly put in to this one and the excellent use of custom backdrops and custom made props i decided to give it 4 stars. It was still great work and it is a shame that it dont fit into my favorite genre.

GREETINGS FROM L.M.A.O. STUDIOS!

Amazing!

THE GOOD: Simply astonishing acting, a heartfelt and smart script and the editing and direction shows a level of detailed professionalism rarely found on TMO. Excellent overlays and backdrops were icing on the cake.

THE BAD: Nothing worth mentioning.

DNR has made the first real heartfelt documentary in TMO history. The re-enactment scenes enlightens us of DNR's imagination and incredible talent. From begging to end this film is truly entertaining. Congrats DNR.

Looks like we got another great film, notice I said film, on this site. Good historical storyline with perfect flow throughout. Probably the most character development I have seen. Great voice work for all the characters. Great movie of triumph. Would definitely recommend. I totally forgot all about Mancini, thanks for reminding me about him.

Well done. The only things I didn't like about this movie were the use of mixed media (photographs), and the lack of actual fight scenes. TM is technically a form of animation, and using photographs kind of takes away from what its able to do. TM has a few decent fight animations, and its clear that you have a rudimentary ring available. I was a little disappointed not to see some fisticuffs.

Great job, though. My wife liked it too.

Holy cow! I dissappear for a couple of months and what happens?
DNR releases a movie that hits number 1, gets 17 pages of awesome reviews, becomes a hotpick and elevates him from 'great movie maker' to 'force to be reckoned with'!

This is not only his finest work, but one of the finest works I've seen here on TMO.

Sublime direction, awesome VOs and music and a refreshing subject delivered with passion and understanding.

A combination of great TMO talents on show here that further enforces my faith in the game and those who create with it.

Movie making at its finest!

Well done, my friend.

Music 1
Pace 1
Diolag 1
Orginal 1
well thought 1

Ok here is what I liked. Music I think it was well chosen for a documentry I liked the veration and it kept us intrested.
Pace your getting a point for pace although I did think it was slow in some spot's like before you got to the struggles in the ring and the meet of the story but it was good in the beging and in the hart of the story.
Diolag Your getting a point for Diolag the words weren't mummbled. The were very well done.
Original This is a grey spot for me because I haven't watch many boxing Documentarys but your getting a point because it was well done and I haven't seen that much work put into one story on this thing before that is if this is a true story.
Well thought out you are getting a point for this because every thing was set out in an orderly fashion there was a beging and end and the story line was a logical one.

This is an amazing biographical drama that I'm more than happy to add to my collection of the best and finest of TMO films.

I'm not a big boxing fan, so I didn't know who Ray Mancini was (Yes, yes, you can boo), but your film taught me all that I needed to know about the guy. Not to mention this is also a very moving story about a father's dream being realized by his son. Everything is detailed and well written. I love the actual photographs, which adds a definite sense of realism.

Two thumbs and both toes way up!

It's a brilliant idea to make a visual biography. This is unique so far on TMO. I like the atmosphere, which is especially created by the brilliant VO and the outstanding use of Backdrops and Overlays. Furthermore the camerawork and the way of storytelling convinced me. To say it in a short way: This is a masterpiece!

editing:12/10 well edited with the pictures, posters, I enjoyed the editing job done in this movie
Wow Factor:10/10 wow excellent movie, I just wish the fights wouldn't be a bunch of still frames

This is an instant classic on TMO! But as it have got 153 reviews this far, I don't even try to add something new. You tell a story in a good way, with good editing.
I didn't really like the "slideshow" feeling about this movie. I know that it would have been very difficult to make actual fighting scenes, but the photos kinda made the movie a little... I don't know, but actual movement would have been better in my point of view, even though it was original in your way.

Anyhow, it's still an amazing movie. Great job!

Well it isn't every day you see a movie made about a living legend, because there aren't that many people that you can really call a living legend.

This tells the tale of Ray Mancini well, the embelishment on his life story isn't far fetched or insensitive, which is good because the story itself is a really touching one.

I did feel that whilst on the whole it was well made, there were a few small parts that really stuck out as ... whilst not bad, they could have just been done slightly different...

I am talking mostly about the "fights" ... I know there is a boxing ring prop (because you used it in your film) so i wondered why you chose not to show the odd part of a fight instead of or as well as the pictures ... it would have just been more like watching a movie and less like watching a slide show, the over all effect would have added a bit more "drama" or "action" to the movie, although it may have just been that you thought about this and decided not to go ahead with it, in which case i'll settle for you having a different directing style to me.

There were some great voice overs in there, although i did wonder about your choice for the narrator, it was an unusual selection, but not a bad one!

Idea: 6/10
Script: 10/10
Sound: 10/10
Editing: 8/10
Thrill factor: 7/10

Overall: 41/50 - 4*

A touching story that really captures the imagination and the spirit of Ray Mancini, it has almost everything you could want in a movie, fantastic story, suspense and tragedy. This is close to being a masterpiece, instead it is a fantastic tribute to a great man.

Plot - The plot was amazing. You based this film on actual events and you did an amazing job. Evertyhting about the film was awesome. You started from where his father first began to where Ray was first born. You also showed how he was inspired by his father. Everything about the plot was spot on.

Technical - The directing of the film was great. From backdrops to freecam, you really put all effort into directing the film.

Sound - The SFX were great and the music was good too.

All in all, I loved your film and I recomend it to anyone who loves Drama/Biography.

Give the man an oscar!
This movie was pulled with both technical brilliance and superb scriptwriting ability. The seamless integration of photo's and TM animation created the perfect atmosphere that made you watch Mancini from beginning to end, glued to the screen.

Mancini is a true sports biography. A good film covering two careers.

Plot/Storyline: Follows the story from Lenny Mancini??s title shot to Ray Mancini??s retirement.

Editing: Excellent camera work coupled with backdrops and overlays to give the gym scenes a great realistic look and feel. Excellent collection of photos. Superb voice acting and a great musical score.

Overall: A very well done sports biography. Gripping, riveting, and emotionally charged. This shows the passion you have for the subject and the work you put into it. This was your best movie to date. A superb film.

Highly recommended and definitely deserving of a Green Glades Studios Diamond in the Rough.

their complemetery review.

Reviewers- National Movie Assosiates Host, Ryan Michelsen. Co host, Julius Cheung. Audience- Jacob Richards, Nickey Mulae, Mark Wagner.

Ryan-It was a very good movie. I'd have to say, Mancini is a great film. I have to say that it is great for its position in the studio charts. I still, however, think the voice sounded fake. It just didnt seem real. Still, I will hand it to you, good work with the backrounds! 5 *****

Julius-It was all right. I never liked boxing. The story was good though, and I guess i shouldnt put my own hates into it. I still cannot give him/her 5 stars. I just thought that the voice sounded to fake, and the documentery portion was to much for it to be a movie. This should be more of a Bibilography rather than a film. 3***

Mark-I thought it was all right. Ill give it 4****

Jacob-Good story, though I hate boxing. I liked the backrounds. 5*****

Nickey-Great. 5*****

It's hard to review and rate a movie that I'd never have expected to see on TMO. A true account of a boxing great and the spirit that seems to vanish when a boxer causes real damage to an opponent. I might know more about this than I can actually put here. I didn't really know who Ray Boom Boom Mancini was until I saw the Korean movie Champion, which is the story of Kim. In a way it's great to see the view of the survivor and the fact that this really ended his career. I think too many people who don't understand Boxing fail to understand the respect that both pugilists have for each other in a highly disciplined art form. I know there are one or two grudges out there, but they are few and far between.

Sorry I digress I'm TMO's worst reviewer in this respect. All in all impressive all round.

That was a pretty great movie, very touching as well. Some of the VO sounded a little flat and forced but it wasn't enough to make me wince or anything like that, it was just simple that was very strange at first.

I like the use of photos in order to depict the fight scene action since there are no boxing sequences in TMO, very well put together. You really got to know the characters and it was really a nice movie to watch even though it felt more like a documentary on Discovery channel rather than a movie, but it was still a great job.

What can I say that hasn't been said? You've pushed the limits of the game. The perfect example of looking at something that can't be done in TM and finding a way to do it. Great story. Great directing. Great Acting. Great movie.

Oh yes, my reivew is here...a little late....but its here.
(not in snuffin puffin style...but you can still win the award...)

Now for some reason when I opened this, I didnt really read the reviews or really look at the description, so I thought this was a Mafia flick. And half way through the movie I was kind of dissapointed and asking "What does boxing and going to war have to do with the Mafia? I want action!" But I stopped it and figured out this was a boxing movie. And I re-watched it...with a different attidude.
Now I've only seen ONE other sports flick; 'Blackbird', and that sure means that this is original, and nothing has ever been done like this on TMO. You did an amazing job on capturing Ray Mancini's life. (you should contact him and tell him about this flick; im sure he'd be happy)

And for the actual movie part: AMAZING
You went from Kings of Comedy to a docu-drama that about had me whizzing myself over in awesomeness. Maybe it was because this movie was so good, but I think the movie went by too fast. I think it should of been longer.
I loved how you put together the boxing scenes, blending TM with real life. This gave 'Mancini' another new orgiinal amazing style that so far, no other TMO movie has touched. The mods in this movie were exceptional aswell. From the boxing ring, to the special robe he wore. Visually, this movie was stunning.

While watching this movie (not expecting a mob one) I was mixed with all sorts of emotions. I knew about Mancini, but I had no idea what all he went through just to win a title. You put this together with great emotion, and an amazingly deep plot that I sucked into immediatly. The VOers sure helped out with that too. Top notch actors doing their best. Every character (including the narrator) sounded real, alive, and filled with feelings. Not just a 'reading off a sheet of paper monologue movie'. I was (again) amazed with the voice acting quality in this epic flick.

The sound is also where this movie excelled...greatly. Besides the amazing voice overs, the sound effects of the fights, and various other activities really brought this movie to life. The music set the mood and feelings of either a sad depressing feeling, or where your jumping for joy.

I really honestly can say theres anything wrong with this film. And honestly; Im not a big fan of dramas...or documentaries. I dunno what you did DNR, but you somehow managed to make this film, which was at the bottom of my genre liking list, to be one of my favorite movies on OR OFF TMO. I guess it was between the amazing editing, outstanding VOers, deep plot, and awesome sound effects, that this movie has climed its way into one of my favorite, and most reccomneded films...ever.

Congrads, you've recieved the first 'Snuffin Puffin' award in pver 3months.

A documentary drama unique on TMO. Moving in its portrayal of a father-son relationship, and insightful in its presentation of a boxer's life and biography, Mancini is a biopic, a reenactment, a fact/fiction narration of the rise and fall of the Mancinis. Throughout the movie, we are given the perception of the outside world, yet at the same time a more intimate and spiritual journey with Mancini and his boxing career. And as the final frame rolls by with a poem by Mancini himself, one can't help but be touched by the power of this movie, which has great VOs (Lizard & A_N_D), custom music and backdrops and an inspiring tale.

Wow, coolness. I wasn't expecting me to be so in to this, but as it continued to run it's course I cared more for the character. The pace of this was great, never too slow, and never rushing about. Camera work was great, though for me the some dialogue scenes had way too much negative space. Music: fantastic. I always love those intense bass hits. Dialogue was great (the narrator at times had my sub rumbling my desk). Montages flowed very well and made explain so many events fasting and entertaining. This was awsome! That's about all I can say.

Very well put together the backdrops, costumes, and vo's. I do agree the narator voice was a little over done. But things happen, being able to do a biog on someone must be a thrill. A vergie star for effort.

This movie is a great, touching story, and if you don't see it, YOUR INSANE!

DNR this is a great bioepic. Some of the voice work was weak, especially the intro voice (way too much *deep effect* added to the voice. sounded like a james earl jones rip off) however, besides some subtle things that annoyed me, (plot reminds me of *rocky*) you did a great job of making an exceptional tribute and a very entertaining movie.

You know me, i'm an honest person. I gave you 4 stars, which by my rating = a great movie. the voice overs were exceptional, the scene selection was as well. I just can't give it 5 stars, there were too many minor flaws (AND they were minor) the editing was flawless, the story was great, albiet a little too reminicence of Rocky....which really was kind of the story of Ray......but still tis is entertainment.). The Voice overs were exceptional except for the overdeep narrator James earl.....

all in all, a great movie, and as i said, a great bioepic. and I'm glad that this was the first movie i got to watch as I came out of my retirement from the movies.

fantastic tribute to an exceptional boxer

If there was a TMO ESPN Classic, I could easily see this movie fitting in seemlessly there. A film about a son, trying to make his father proud, by winning the title, that his father was unable to due to circumstances beyond his control. The movie worked very well as a sports documentary, interdispersing documentary style parts, with more personal scenes between Ray and his father. The custom props and backdrops did a good job at enhancing the movie without being overbearing. The fight backdrops did an especially good job at providing the action that would be difficult to pull off using the scenes available through TMO. The editing and camerawork were nothing spectacular, but for what the DNR was going for, they didn't have to be, and more style and flash might have actually hurt in this case. The music went mostly unnoticed by me, but once again, it was there enough to get the job done. Very good job and an easy 5 stars from me.

COMPLETELY...UTTERLY...NO DOUBT...AMAZING!!!! It was a very well-done story, great cuts, amazing dialouge, fantastic casting, and of course props to 6headed Dragon for er...well, props. I don't think there's really ever been a sports biography on TMO, mainly because we've never had the sets to do it. You proved that wrong...and I'm happy to say that this film is a SHOW-STOPPER.

I can't think of any way to criticize this film...it was done very well, and everything seemed to flow together properly. THe custom-made sets were simply awesome, and I really liked the custom costumes.

So all-in-all, thanks for the message that brought me to this film...I would have missed it otherwise. "Mancini" is at the peak of greatness, and I hope it can be boosted further up the charts, as I doubt it can acheive nothing less than a five star review. So, pat yourself on the back DNR Studios..."Mancini" is a top contender in the TMO community.

A Critic's Center Detailed Review (now easy to read)

**************brand new reviewing format debuting on Mancini with a brand new grading scale movie percentage system*******************

Feature Comment:
This was such a pleasure to watch for our team as this story builds a hot surface. This is the best use of The Movies Game we've seen so far. This is something that can actually be aired on TV. It reminded us of those SportsCentury episodes on ESPN. Ray Mancini makes the great Rocky Balboa look like a fairy tale. This is DNR's best film to date.

Genre Feeling:
96%
This was one hell of an action flick/docudrama. It will suit all audiences especially sports fans. This was really a great pleasure to see something like this on TMO. We wish there were more of them because this one truly knocked it out of the ballpark. Great action sequences and narration gave it the chilling feeling.

Voice Overs:
97%
Definentely some of the best voice overs we've heard on TMO so far. Lizard was absolutely amazing and the Brooklyn accent gave it an even better touch. AND also provided some very good voice acting in this docudrama. The narration was the best we've heard on TMO and it was very clear.

Music/Sound:
94%
The original music gave this movie an extra touch like we've never heard before. It flowed very well with this movie. The sound effects matched up very good the punches and even more the overall sound F/X was definentely great in it's own right.

Mod Showcase Value:
98%
From the beginning with the title cards all the way to the awesome mod work it looked so professional and entertaining. The boxing gloves in the title sequence was great. Also the DNR intro was the best we've seen so far. The props were excellently done in this movie. The gym mod gave it an extra touch. The actual photos of Mancini's fights were amazingly done. Like we said it was like watching SportsCentury. The editing was right on point and it's definentely got the right timing like on TMO Kings of Comedy. DNR you are very talented in this area for sure. Outside editing and the overlays always make a film give you the full value.

Bad News:
There wasn't too much that we could find that was bad about this at all. I think it's that perfect that nothing needs to be worked on at all. Maybe Mancini could've been done through Starmaker to really give him an image. Other than that it was on point.

The DNR Studio Report:
100%
Man we've seen this studio grow from the early days of What!!! We really seen this as a powerhouse potential studio and it's great to finally see it in full form right now. Anthony Buttafuco was such a pleasure to laugh with and now on the serious scale DNR shows his strength. This is a studio that has pretty much dominated every genre and that shows the worldwide talent of his filmmaking skills. Right now there is no better TMO studio out there than DNR. You can laugh and cry with his film.

Story:
98%
This was an excellent executed docudrama on a great 80s boxer. This is an area that we grade hard in and it was right up there with the facts so this is definentely something to watch.

The editing, the voice overs, the dialogue, the characters, the plot, originality, it was all perfect. Really really great movie!

So many wonderful things about this action flick, I shall start with the outstanding VO cast. I felt each and every actor did a top notch job with accents and character development. The script was not only well written but also well exactitude on a visual aspect. Revved up custom intro as well as custom shots all through the movie. I loved the music and the mods where off the hook. IMHO I feel this is your best production yet and put this movie in the MUST SEE category ~ 5 stars across the board!

Unbelievable! A biography of someone who I never knew existed, a champion in his own right, it gets to you on so many levels. A truly inspirational artwork, a masterpiece... genius.

Something unique amongst TMO movies: a superbly produced documentary that rivals the quality that we see on RL TV. The narration and voice acting were excellent, as were the use of mods, props, and backdrops to re-create the environments for the story. Great job all round.

"Judge JazzX scores the contest ... 5 Stars to zero"

From Wikipedia:

"The career of boxer Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini is the subject of the made-for-TV biopic [Heart of a Champion]. Doug McKeon plays Mancini, while Robert Blake co-stars as his father, Lenny Mancini. An excellent pugilist in his own right, Lenny's career is cut short by his wartime service. Son Ray carries on the tradition into the 1980s, battling his way towards the WBA crown. Heart of a Champion's executive producer was Rocky star Sylvester Stallone, who (it says here) staged the boxing sequences. This heartwarming "do it for the old man" effort was first telecast May 1, 1985. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide"

- I`ve mentioned that for no other reason than Rocky himself had to tip his hat to the lad who started winning titles after his first couple of films. The story bears a lot of comparisons to Rocky - the boxer who narrowly loses his big shot at the title then comes back and wins.

This story has been very well told here with superb backdrops and overlays, nice music and classy acting throughout. The camerawork was excellent - I loved the transition between the young man training and then the same guy a few years later just by panning the camera while he's running. There was some serious modding going on here too with the custom costumes and sets.

It was all seamlessly put together and, without question in my mind, is the best sports film so far here.

Rocky...no Mancini sorry i couldn't miss the chance to compare the film to the legendary classics.

Boxing is a hard game to play, almost as hard as life. Its shown through Lizard3209, who never fails to dissapoint, and his classic voice overs. His narration defines the film on alot of levels, considering most of the film is showing overlays of real life, it was Lizard's voice that maintained a sense of realism throughout the film. I must admit, not being a boxing fan, you lost me on some of the tangents and such, but the classic heart and the story of love and faith was always clear. No matter who you are, the story of any man of courage will ring close, and this story is classic. But the paramount story-telling is also amazing, alot of the camera work was on repetative scenes but again, the strong dialog and voice overs carried it through and the music let the story and the scenes carryout as believable as a real movie. I, like all high expectation movies i watch, saw it in full screen and it was quite an experience, this film is a TMO Classic, five stars, and really is a piece of TMO History not because of its biographical setting, heartfelt storytelling, amazing voice overs, cunning directing, but the overall base and use of scenes that seem so redundant but executed so perfectly secures your place in the TMO Hall of Fame.

This movie is definitely a masterpiece in it's own right. It tells a story using the various elements available such as the music, backdrops, and well-done narration. The story of a son wanting to walk in the footsteps of his legendary father Lenny Mancini. He feels that it's his duty to be a professional boxer and make his dad proud. The critics everywhere cheer for DNR's recent release "Mancini" and it doesn't disappoint. It packs the true story behind Lenny and Ray and a few real glimpses of their fights. I'm really not into boxing all that much, and may I just say that I am completely amazed you managed to pull this type of movie off and manage to hold my attention all the way through.

You have done an excellent job. I loved everything costum in this movie, especially the music. I'm not all into mods, because I don't beleive in them, but I didn't see that many other than clothes and one set.

Basically I liked this, because you used a lot of what the game could provide you, other than a few things. This was great, and I'm glad I watched it.

A great documetary, and an interesting drama. Something that all ages COULD watch, and all studio and non studio owners SHOULD watch.

It's been a pleasure watching this, for theese 11 minutes, and I hope to see more like this from you. Wow. This was awesome.

Thanks for an exciting 11 minutes, it's been fun. This will be in the charts soon.

This is a great movie about many things: faith in one's self, father-son relationship, endurance, rise and fall... A little reminded me of "Rocky", but it was based on actual facts and it made your movie more powerful. The directing is great (thanks to the custom props, too), and I'm amazed at the work you put into Starmaker - sometimes I could hardly distinguish between the photos and the actual Movies characters! The actors made an excellent job, especially Lizard (doesn't he always?). The music was great, too, and gave a nice, catartic feeling to the movie.
Do I have any complaint? Yes. I think that nearing the end, there were too many narrative scenes and no real plot, which made the film more like a documentary than an actual movie. It would have been better if you'd showed us Mancini's carreer with actual scenes, not just through narration. I think that the best parts were the non-narrative parts (like the dialogues of Mancini and his father).
Aside from this minor complaint, it's a brave and unique movie which deserves high praise.

I needed to think over this one for quite a while.

on one hand, inspiring and uplifting. On the other hand, i thought there might've been better moments. One scene, i'd probably have changed the music. Thoguh really, i pay a lot of attention to the small background details.

I loved the voice-acting. Lizard couldn't have sounded better in the role, and AND did a very convincing job!

The graphic work (eg. gym?) for backdrops and scenery was great. The visual effects were awesome!

i cannot express the great details ni this movie, but the story is the thing that shines better than the reast. Touching.

Fantastic DNR... bloody fantastic..

DNR once again you amazed me bro, The way this film really hit me while i was watching it just like watching a bio on the bio channal :P. The voice overs where just fantastic and fit the roles perfect. Your editing skills havent slowed down one bit bro. I would like to see this movie get a hotpick man it need's to be up there. This is by far the ebst film ive seen all summer. Excellent job man keep up the good work man and cant wait too see what you have in store for us next time around cause im sure it will be fantastic

This was a very touching docudrama. This was very well written and thought out.
the direction and editing were flawless. VO's were on the spot over all. Though I have to admit the narrators voice seemed better suited for horror than documentary.
Your use of mods and sets was the best I've seen for any film. They were a perfect enhancement to the story without overshadowing it.
The effort and work you put into this really shows. You should be applauded for this near flawless piece of art. It was truelly a pleasure watching this movie.

An enjoyable feast from start to finish, this film is one of the most refreshing films on TMO and its fresh new approach in story telling and great use of scenes carries this film along its magnificent 11minute length. Well Done and Good luck in future projects!

Yes, this was a very good documentry. It had heart, it had great visuals, it had great everything. However, I would have liked to see the fighting scenes in the movie, not just some still frame shots. It kind of toke me out of the mood. Most of the movie was still frame shots, it more less a movie and more of a photo album. It was like watching a documentry on A&E. It was very good, but I would have liked to see it more in a movie sort of style.
Lets reveiw shall we.

Postive
+A great documentry
+Some superb VO and Music
+A great story to make in to a documentry
+Cool visuals

Negatives
-Would have liked to see it more of a movie type of thing.
-The still frames kind of distracted me.

A great documetry that gets the Jarvis100 check mark. Good job.

Wow... I was incredibly impressed by this. In all honesty, I wasn't sure how this was going to play out. But in the end, I was glad to see how it did. This movie is driven by passion, determination, and most importantly -- heart. Top-notch editing and an excellent use of mods (not too many, not too few) make this an absolutely exceptional film. Well done, DNR. Your work has certainly paid off in a result that anyone on TMO... or elsewhere... can enjoy.

Have you considered sending this to Mr. Mancini himself?

An exceptional biographical film that has the viwer captivated into the swirling emotional life that was Ray Mancini's. Really top-notch!

This is the first boxing movie I have seen on TMO. I kind of never got around to watching Blackbird. Shame on me, ay!

Anyway I found this docu-drama very interesting and informative. Ray Mancini is someone that I actually knew nothing about, but now I feel I have a grasping of the legend that he was/is.

This film is very well made with the use of a lot of good backdrops. The narrater's voice over was wonderful and set the tone for the whole film. If you are interested in Boxing or sports history then this is a must see. If you're not, it is still worth checking out as a well made and interesting production.

This was a beautiful film. I'm not really into sports or sports movies. But, this one is quite different. This film had a real emotion to it and I think the director must care about the material a lot. It has a perfect blend of historical data while the drama had your eyes glued to the screen. It also made me feel like I learned something today. Terriffic!

I think this movie was meant to be a longer movie (kind of in the mold of a 90 minute Hollywood movie), but considering the limitations of this game, the movie was superb in many ways. Congratulations!

Very well Done DNR, You made this movie right out of the Bronks. The thing that I like about this movie was that the plot was real! I remember seeing Mancini's last fight, Wasn't much old at the time and I never knew there was such a big background behind that one fight. That Made my day, I would like for you to keep making movies that everyone loves.
Great Job, You'll get A hotpick soon enough.

A technically accomplished biopic, solidly driven forward by the director and a talented cast of actors. While I wasn't drawn into the story, partly because of it being a very factual account of events, I was admiring all the way through the obvious achievements of the movie in the context of the game engine. As a movie I did wish for a bit more of interpretation and compelling drama. But it is very obvious that this faithful account of a father-son boxing legacy is the result of hard work that really pays off visually.

Wow, this is a great movie. I believe this is the best docudrama I've seen on TMO. You managed to avoid making a cliched sentimental movie, well done!

QUICK REVIEW: A very good documentary type movie here for TMO. Similar to "Blackbird", but more of a factual movie. It is up there with the best and I found very little fault with what you had made, within the limits of the game.

An excellent TMO movie :)

You took one of my favorite genres and made it your own. This was touching, with a great script and excellent direction. Your voiceactors brought these characters to life and really helped draw me into the story. I loved this.

Dulcilicious!

Outstanding movie, gripping story and most beautiful braught to the screen.
As a semi documentary is has a surprising emotional inpact, also reinforced by showing the real photo's in between the scenes.
The voices were fantastic, the timing and pacing just right and the mods impressive (I very much liked the gym sequences, simple but very effective)
The script is the key, moving from the past to the (near) present along the timeline, and switching from acted scenes to real footage (in pictures) works amazingly well.
The characters were portrayed very lifelike, in no small matter thanks to the excellent voice work.
This is incredible movie making, this is what The Movies is all about :)

To be honest, I did not like the first 5 minutes, but after that, it picked up enough for me to give it 5 stars. Emerald Award awarded:

I know that it put one on mine.

my God!
That was one of the best movies I have ever seen on TMO! It was so professional, the VOs were great, mods and visual effects were nothing short of stunning, and the plot was so dramatic and brilliant that it just had to be true.
Great, great job on this one. Nothing short of brilliance the whole way through.

You did a great job on this film DNR. I am very happy to have been a part of it. This film is great entertainment for just about anyone and unique to so many who watch it. It handles many topics and covers many emotions that few films are able to accomplish. It cannot be defined by any single term. It establishes the fact that you are a multi-talented director not only known for your comedy but now drama as well. Everyone should see this film. Fantastic job.

Wow, what can I say that hasn't already been said? This is a triumph in movie making. Who could've thought someone could actually pull off such a captivating and emotional documentary so well. The direction and writing of this film is so good that you are honestly rooting for Mancini during every fight that is covered. I came into this movie not really knowing anything about Mancini, but now I feel like I know him. Great stuff, DNR. You've received my Murpheykid Recommendation.

This was your "Raging Bull"! Your " Godfather"!

This is a movie I will never forget. As a matter of fact, I am downloading it to send to my Dad. You have made something that you should be so proud of.

I hope Mancini gets to see this. I think he would also be proud.
