Film Description
My first in a planned three part tribute to Christina Rossetti's poetry (all in the public domain). This is a visual adaptation of the poem No Thank You John, beautifully VO'd by Dulci (thank you Dulci).

The images are those of Christina's brother Dante (again in the public domain) and Chris (cheers Chris).

The music is C/O newgrounds.com (xayberoptix) and jamendo.com (try'd - My Piano Sings).

Once again Pegleg creates a movie that does not fit into any cookie cutter mode. This poetic interpretation features the works of the artists and combines them into an artistic and poetic display.

Plot/Storyline: The poem is an elegant ??Dear John?? letter. The interpretation of the poem shows images of the two when together and apart with John reminiscing. I would have liked to seen more conflict between the two in the interpretation.

Editing: well edited. Nice use of the artwork on backdrop scenes. Music used well and fit with the poem. Good narration by Dulci.

Overall: A very good production and another excellent presentation of poetry and art. Pegleg is currently the only GAGA winner for best poem and work like this continues to show why. Highly recommended film and receives Green Glades Studios Honorable Mention.

With this movie I was cast back to a time I'd very much like to visit (if traveling back in time through wormholes ever becomes possible) Wonderful movie, visually striking and with beautiful music. The echo effect was interesting. I had some trouble concentrating on the words of the poem here and there because of the music, would have preferred music with no singing. Well that is just one mini little point I didn't like, the rest of this movie was breathtaking.

I am amazed at this peg. Just flows....the whole movie just flows. The music
was a pefect for this, also the smoothness of the poetry fit like lyrics to a
song. A powerful movie that you get drawn into. Very nice artwork too, very cool touch. Great job man! A mind trip trance of a movie....

A contempory movie that spins the original source material into a story that blends imageries, music and spoken words. Dante Rossetti's images looming in the background while Dulci's spoken poetry sinks into mind and heart.

Nicely done.

very well done! poor john! i liked the mixed audio to give that echo effect. Dulci did a great job on the voice. the best poem on TMO I've seen. But peg, you never disappoint me. All your films are great. I bow down to you, my master!

Maddeningly spectral, wickedly postmodern, and delicious on every cinematic scale, No Thank You John spins a solemn yarn out of its original source material. The way you blend image, music, poetry, and motion is truly a sight to beyond here, knocking the wind out of me time and time again in an almost cathartic manner. The pre-Raphaelite motifs ?? imagistic, poetic, thematic ?? stitches into the contemporary cinematic sensibility very well, making for a sensual and very seductive experience.

Well done. I cannot wait for the next part?

I think we can all relate to john in some way and we are all part of john i know it myself but in a different way, as in rejected because someone may be too choosy.

Very good job with the camera movements, voiceovers and especially the sound effects. The little I know of her poems, I do think this will make a very solid trilogy-tribute because of the accessibility her style. The only thing that didn't fit well, to me, was the music which was a bit modern for victorian era poetry.

I'm always impressed with your diverse styles. Humor, poems, funk--and you've tackled them all with your own distinctively creative touch. The use of the jumbled cacophony of lines was novel, and disturbingly chaotic. I was surprised, initially, at the length (or, rather, brevity) of this work, until I later discovered it was only the first of three parts. I love to see more of this, and learn of the conclusion to your vision.

Wow
Really WOW
You really really have a knack for stories that rip your heart out.
I feel for the guy,and the way you presented the sad state of his life is quite moving. The poem is quite heartless, and it appears he has been the recipient of this and similar letters countless times.Dulci's voiceover is very good, and I must say the way you used it is one of the most creative uses of voiceover I have seen on this site.I love what you did and it pushed this one up to a whole new level.Excellent.
The backdrops, and the scenes where he is dancing alone almost made it seem surreal. This poor guy is having a bad dream and that bad dream happens to be his life.
Great work on this one Peg.Bookmarked.

Beautiful work.

Callous and languid and sublime and cruel.

The Rosettis would be proud.

You have made a piece of art here my friend. The camera work, the backgrounds, the music, the voice overs. The list goes on!

You should feel very proud of this, great work...

Beautiful yet sad, colourful yet dark, Friendship yet void... I have never heard this poem before. I felt for the man, I felt his pain. To want someone yet not be able to have them. Who has not been there? who cannot relate to this?

Thank you

Take care

Very artsy and cinematic. Even though I'm not a poem person, I still liked the poem in this movie. Perhaps it has a deeper meaning. Great mixing of voices to make a busy thought sound effect. As always, I enjoy.

Wow, Peg, I love it! Wonderful, how the images, the music and the words (perfectly narrated by Dulci!) flowed together, I especially liked the blending effects of the narration, just wonderful!

Wow! That was very nicely crafted my friend. The way you so effectively blended the music and Dulci's beautiful VO, together with some first-class camerawork - makes this a top-notch production - possibly your best one yet. I can see this achieving heady heights in the TMO world.

Beautifully read poem, the music is ambient yet the movie is quite unsettling. Dulci's voice was perfect for this and the way you put this this movie together was exceptionally effective. The sombreness of the whole piece works well because one sided love is a dark and sombre feeling. In fact it has been known to cause people grief and madness, something that comes in when the VO lines play at the same time. I look forward to seeing where you are going with this. Well done to both you and Dulci.
