Great Movie! I gave it four stars because of some of the editing issues that were present, but overall a job well done.

Could you please tell how to get the shaky camera thing, because i REALLY want a shaky camera option for my movies.

Please review my movies!

A very stylish horror film. The shaking cam, had me puzzled as I haven??t seen it on TMO as well as the use of the B&W filter WITH color. The plot was fairly simple. The direction, as always, is top notch. However, the sound issues and some major editing mistakes turned a 5 star to a 4 star. This Kwistufa horror doesn??t hold up to his other horrors.

AMAZING CLASSIC! I love classic horrors, and this belongs right up with Frakenstein, Wolfman, and of course, DRACULA!!! I think that you definately deserve your ranking and should do more horrors like this. DUSKFEED is one of my nuber ones, and I hope you respect it as much as this community does!
Good luck in the future, and hope to see your films again!

P.S. If you enjoy classic horrors, take some time to see my COLD BLOOD movie, you'll love it!

Plot/Storyline: A classic silent horror tale brought to TMO. Another brilliant black and white vampire tale which follows in the style of the Holy Blood series. In order to convey the story without words or subtitles, the strength of interpretation will rely solely on images and the music chosen.. In short, the success of this film hinges upon editing.

Editing: Well crafted work to provide a great interpretation. The camera work was done well and depicted the essence of the time with filming in period and using shaky camera work. The custom sets and filters helped give it the extra edge. The soundtrack you chose was perfect to keep the eerie feel and atmosphere of the film. It has a very artsy, noir type feel to it.

Overall: This was a very well done film and you did an excellent job with it Kwistufa. You have been making a film for every genre and have had some very good ones. This film receives Green Glades Studios Honorable Mention. I highly recommend this film. Great work.

Well made ..loved the shaky cam ..how do you do that?!..Very impressed at the silent movie feel..and the sets looked fantastic.

This film's best asset is its -lack- of VO's! (Who'd have thought I'd ever use that phrase?)

Loved the camera work here, though the shaky cam felt overused on a couple of occasions - mostly when the motion of someone walking moved opposite the shakes of the cam - I had to get my sea legs... ;) In no way, however, does that detract from how how cool an effect that is - I want it! The editing, pace, flow, and camera angles simply kicked ass.

It's nice to see Kwistufa display other facets of his talent beyond Clive, and this one delivers visually in a way that never ever made me miss, not once, voices.

Excellent work, Kwis! More, more!

I'm Impressed.
That 'shaky' camera is that a side effect of using the B&W filter?
Never saw that on TMO.

I love silent movies, there are not enough around here, and yours is without question up there with the best.
Excellent editing.

i thought this film was brilliantly made! no subtitles and no VO's would usually spell doomed, for a movie, but this was terrific! a very very eery feel to it! like the old day vampire movies.
so easy to follow as well and it never got boring. i am giving this 5 very well earned stars!

To me this was a bit of a platypus (And I think platypuses are great).

The filtering to make it red/black/grey was great, and the camera work was reasonably good. The overall concept of silent movies is good.

What really let this down for me and leave me rating it average however was the storyline. You have produced some excellent silent or surreal movies but this one isnt overly surreal. To me, it seems to be exactly whats advertised and theres nothing really hidden or "unusual" and because of that it seems a bit lacking.

It is a good movie because it gives me (and hopefully others) some intriguing movie ideas but I dont feel its one of your better works.

**** Swift Guignol Review ****

This is another arthouse Horror movie that has to be appreciated. There are quite a few elements that makes this horror flick different from others such as the lack of spoken dialogue. Instead, only the actions tell the message. Brilliant use of music, viewing technology, and shaky-cam.

I highly recommend this flick for those than can appreciate silent films!

Very sppoky and weird, just how I like em!
The atmosphere and effect were what stoof out in this one, and it allowed for some interperetation by the viewer.
Great job!

***MOMC Review***

A creaky Victorian howler suffused with all sorts of conventional sophistication, Duskfeed is a visual tour-de-force that artistically culls from its myriad sources an effecting little horror tale. Though there is little "terror" or what have you at play here, what this film is ripe with is atmosphere. The shaky cam effect, a perfect approximation of the steadicam, proves effecting and chilling throughout this film. You told this story excellently through your visuals and entranced me pretty hard through your cinematic panache. The way you edited and shot your film is truly something to behold.

There were slight moments where the visuals and sound did not coorelate, namely with the in-game sound effects and awkward silences. In those moments, the atmosphere snaked its way out the door. But for the most part, it was chilling-mixed-with-pure-unbridled-madness fun.

The bite scene was also strangely homoerotic... but maybe that's just my interpretation. :)

All in all, an exceptional, visually sumtuous film that plays on so many movie conventions it makes for bodacious entertainment!

This is a very admirable demonstration on how to use the newfound freedom in camera placement and movement effectively, and works extremely well as a music video. The music also creates the necessary mood that unifies the movie. I wish I could rate this on a different scale from regular movies, but alas I am forced to stick with the normal scale. As a horror movie, I believe in the extensive use of sounds to create atmosphere and I felt the absence of more sound ambiance and effects to be a bit unnatural. But I can definitely see a wonderful horror movie that could come out from this, but dialogue and sounds would be necessary to craft a more complex story that doesn't only depend on visuals and music. So it's a bit sad but I felt this was not quite a real movie as we know it.

An incredibly striking film, visually. This really impressed me with its use of filters and free cam. The handheld look adds a sense of tangible menace to the scene. This is especially effective where the scenes are very familiar ones.

Like 1900-666-HELL the story took a bit of a backseat. Again, not because it is lacking, but because the very stylistic approach, using no VO or subtitles, does not communicate complex plot points, only the bases.

But this is a must see, all the same.

Story: 3/5 Not really communicated. I think there were a lot of points unclear, such as why the guy falls off the tower, and what the difference is between the two monsters.
Production: 5/5 Fantastic - great use of mods and some truly effective freecam work.
Editing: 5/5 Again, fantastic.
Sound: 5/5 Great music, very effectively used.

Again, kwistufa is to be commended for bringing us something truly unique.

A great achievement.

i would say 4 1/2 star movie. not my type but music was great at the right points. free cam was used well.. but why the guy fall off the tower? because the guy looked at him or did he liek use powers? kinda confused but other then that it was good! plz rate mine! The Man Who Almost Made it thanks

MOMC Review:

I enjoyed the atmosphere and mood in your little vampire tale. There was no characterisation or introduction needed in this movie because the foggy environment and the color filter you used just set a great creepy mood from the beginning. And the red eyes of the vampire in an otherwise almost colorless surrounding gave him a really intense and evil appearrance.
I liked how you told the whole story without any dialogue and still manage to keep the viewers attention in every second. The absence of any comments from the characters made all the actions feel kind of inevitable and even more creepy.

What really stood out in my opinion was your camera work. The zooms and camera movements underlined the atmosphere and gave the feeling that the viewer was really there to follow the action.
When looking at the different parts of this work, the only thing that I found to be average was the story itself - but I think in a movie with this kind of arthouse approach the story can`t be separated from the whole without giving a wrong impression. While the plot might not be very surprising, I`ve never seen someone become a vampire victim in such a beautiful and entertaining way!

So, overall, I`m rating 4.6 for MOMC

Wow, great movie! The music and the images created a beautiful atmosphere here, no words needed! And your freecam work is just excellent, I liked those dramatic shots! What would really interest me is, did you have the music before you shot the movie, was it an inspiration to the movie?

A sombre look at the feeding habits of nocturnal parasites . . . threatening music and sketchy camera work nail the stake in the coffin of this tale of vampirism and blood lust. Oddly enough, the only real ones i've ever met were all psychic vampyres. Superbly creepy and innovative stuff, as we come to expect.

Great movie!

The camera angles were great, and really captured that "old movie" feeling. The music fit the movie perfectly as well. I also thought you did a good job with the characters as well, the Vampires servant worked out well.

Very artistically & dramatically done. I enjoyed your use of the minion. The music was powerful and combined with the camera angles, excellent costumes and use of weather, created an intense atmosophere.

Kwis, man, I thought I would laugh my teeth out once again.... but with this movie I discover another facet of you.. over with the fun ! :) ...
Not only can you make greatly funny movies, but you also have the art of visual poetry and silent storytelling. This IS the best "film muet" on TMO I've seen so far!
An amazing ambient, colors, nice choice of dramatic music and scenes.
A dark and dramatic poem. Wonderfull!

Posted on July 18, 2006

That was some of the best cinematography I've seen, the wobbly camera gave this an "epic" sort of effect, where you feel the monsters were heavy, and I don't think I've seen that effect in any other movie before, so great job on that. The angles in this movie were also great, the use of horror shots combined with statics and cranes just made this a feast for the eyes. And the music sets the theme right away, a rough horror movie, possibly could go high in the charts.

Some very impressive use of the free-cam, I don't know how you did it, as I have had S&E for weeks now and still haven't loaded it on :D.

Every aspect of the movie was done well and for a short this was superb, well done. One of the best silent movies on TMO.

First off- great music! Really helped in setting the mood, fit into the story well.
The camera work also added a lot of atmosphere, not sure what you did (not to great at freecam, hehe), but it was very effective!
The use of sets, as well as weather and lighting effects also added a lot of atmosphere, created a 'spooky' feel throughout the whole movie. Not too sure about the indoor fog though. :p

Now, the reason for only 4 stars (which is still a good rating from me!) is the story. You had all the technical aspects down, but the story just didn't grab me. Not the lack of diaglogue necessarily, you managed to pull that off pretty well. Maybe you've just made me set my standards too high for you! :p

Great work Chris.

That movie was great! When I first read that there weren't any subtitles or voice overs, I was wondering why everyone else liked it so much. Well, I watched it and I soon found out that I too loved this movie. You didn't need any voice overs or subtitles to tell the story, because you did it flawlessly with great camera work, great music, and just great all around movie making. This movie was literally flawless. Great job on this movie, it is one of the best movies I've seen so far.

OH, that was sensational! Great, stylish, classic gothic horror. Loved your use of music as well (and good choice of filters). You grow more and more as a filmmaker with every flick. This is now one of my personal favorites. You did an amazing job with the freecam and everything had just the right look to it.

A very well producted movie with a wonderful sense of style. Truely some of the best use of the filters I have seen. The music gave it a very epic feel, and the story was simple enough that it truely did not need VOs or Subtitles.

So why am I giving it 4 stars?

Well, sadly, the in game audio going very out of sync threw me off. It may be my computer, but I doubt it. But if it was then I'm sorry for letting what turned out to be a technical flaw on my part hinder the rating.

Still, despite this its a truely wonderful movie that is great to look at and fun to watch.

Kwistufa, kwistufa, kwistufa,

I have seen alot of your films, almost all of them. Many have belly comedy and some strive for alot of effects but do not stand high above the towers and shadows of other tmo films. You walked the line behind big names in many films, striving for a seet in the comedy hall of fame which you achieved, and your sprouted into other genres, i've seen it all.

But you took your film here, and you made it a kwistufa film. You took elements of strict filmaking and created a masterpiece with it. Filmaking sees stretched limits every so often, and this film is a horror that is impressive on a few levels.

First, your camera work as mentioned was well done, it impressed me and i've seen alot of films and alot of overused free camera. Your film used not only creative filmaking, but even unexpected angles and carefully crafted scenes strung together to tell the story independent of the invisible subtitles and silenced voice overs.

We move beyond the filmaking, past the music, and look at the core of filmaking in the essence of telling a story. You did it, you accomplished a goal few can do with voice overs and muttled subtiltes. Tell a story with characters, show a human struggle.

Aplaud worth work, great!

Ok, now THAT was a cool little movie!!

Very VERY good feel you had going there. Worked well and proved you can make a solid movie with no VO or captions. The constant movement of the camera (shake) was probably overdone, but I still liked it. I am actually curious how you did it. Don't tell me you multi-cut all those scenes and used small camera movements. If so, wow, you did great!!

All in all this is a MUST see movie. Get off your butt and go advertise this thing better. People need to see this one!!

the camera work is top notch...combined with that shaky effect (tell me where you got it from) the great music and the old film technology make this a very odd and effective horror tale...

i am impressed...nice build of tension...real skill shows through...

the shot in particular that was great was the zoom in/field of view out.... slick actual hollywood trick i planned on using but didnt find a plave to fit it in...the shot with the guy up against the beam is what i'm refering to.... also the shots coming from behind objects... brilliant....
