Well, for starters, you opened this very well, the little homage to your comedy leanings shining through with OMG24, very nicely. When you go down to business, though, you really didn't let up, you played the atmosphere beautifully, building up the tension with what we could see, not just giving us glimpses. And for once, this was a film that left me with that nasty little lingering feeling at the back of my mind, instead of the [bad-word!]-your-pants and die mentality of others. The use of the free-cam again was very good, made the whole thing seem that little bit more convincing.

'I'm gonna kill yer...'

Five out of five only beacuse I can't give a 666

Critics Center Review

OPENING: Well Ninette you know i have always been a huge fan of your work, i love every aspect of your movies. But admiteddly, i wasn't sure whether you and the horror genre would go together well. I actuall wasn't expecting too much when i first heard about this. I always think of you as a comedy director, usually people stick to one genre and then when they try another it all goes horribly wrong. However, this movie was suprising, because personally i believe this is definately your best work yet, mainly because the movie was just so intense and actually at times pretty spine tingling. For starters was the opening scene, boy what an opener. The man at the video camera, before suddenly he screams, there is a hideous noise, he is pushed down the stairs and bam we're into the movie. No slow build up, no small tension shots just a quick cut into the movie and grab the viewers attention by the throat and cling onto it. That's how powerful that opener was, sure the movie then went onto a slower ride, with more tension and eery little custom shots thrown in. But when the movie unleashed hell on its characters, it unleashed hell. No one was safe, one scene that really, really grabbed my attention was the scene where two people entered the basement. Their video cmaeras playing, then there were noises, red eyes in the fog. Then the camera did a sudden drop, clever free cam shot there, you see the man strangled by a ghost. That was a powerful image and one that i really think defines you as a moviemaker Ninette.

PLOT: Plotwise this was intriguing if not the best plot i have ever seen Online. I am avoiding as many spoilers as possible so please excuse me because really i cannot talk about the actual plot but more my feelings towards the plot. For starters the i will go on a bit about the character, they weren't the most interesting of characters i have ever seen, but they were a bit more believable. I liked the effective way you used the video camera shots, made them seem more like the group of people from the Balir Witch Project, that was some damn good editing to get that shot all set up. The ending was extremely well executed, i refuse to say any more but the ending was just pure brilliance and was damn scary at times.

MUSIC: Well i didn't expect this to be poor at all, and of course i was not disappointed by you. Your music scores are always brilliant, but what was different in this movie was the fact it was all used to build up tension, everything just went to boiling point as the music went on, you knew something was about to happen, you just knew it, and the music trully displayed this quality. A good horror movie must have a music score to make the audience bite their nails in fear of what is coming, this music was brilliant at doing just that.

DIALOGUE: Well for starters the VO's were perfect, they were extremely well performed, that opening shot with the man and his echoey voice was so well displayed. But what trully set this apart in dialogue terms was the fact it never felt forced. All of the dialogue just flowed beautifully, gracefully. The characters said their lines and not one piece was wooden, that was shocking because most great movies at least usually have one dodgy piece of dialogue, but this had nothing at all. Trully brilliant script matched the great plot.

OVERALL: Overall i can easily see why this has the high chart placement and high reviews that it has recieved. This was a masterpiece to be quite frank and definately outdoes all other horror movies on TMO. Fear was great, but it was no match for this. This movie was creepy, it was well executed and the uesage of all of the stunts and effects scenes was just downright brilliance. The entire movie had an atmospheric feel to it, and as for the editing. Well perfect doesn't sum it up, the editign was easily the best thing i have seen on TMO for absolutely ages.

FINAL WORDS: High Hopes Sanitarium is the best Horror movie on TMO, creepy, brutal and featuring stunning moments. This movie deserves every five star and more!

Oh god ninette. That was easily one of the best horror films ever created, tmo or not. The queen of comedy has officially turned into the witch of horror, that was one hell of a flawless transition between genres!

The free cam, showed excellent directing skills that really impressed us. We had no idea that this was a trait of moviemaking you had, you really impressed us. The overlays also added to that fantastic sense of realism that you don't often feel in TMO movies.

The sound effects, oh my god! They made us bite our nails, turn on the lights, and scream!

Overall, this was a fantastic horror movie, well deserving of yet another five-star golden performance, and it is easily a 5GENRE MUST-SEE!

One of the most horrifying films on TMO I have ever seen... an instant horror classic utilizing every cinematic trick in the book - cinematagraphy, sound effects, editing, overlays, you name it - to create a nightmarish atmosphere that truly terrifies. When I say this, I am not trying to sounds snide and hyperbolic; this movie actually scared the bejeesus out of me. I am, ultimately, absolutely puzzled as to how you were able to so superbly manipulate the lighting and multilayered sound effects so effectively... and I am green with envy. Mnay parts of this seemed voyeuristic, almost unbearable to watching, as if I was watching somebody's snuff. This is, without a doubt, proof positive that you can make a "true" horror film on TMO; it is also a tremendous technical achievement that goes above and beyond the traditional horror ilk.

Well done technically, I mean you used an amazing amount of clever tricks to pull this off. Great use of the overlays, the backdrops, and the built in effects. Good job! However it wasn't, in my opinion, really that scary. Good VOs, excellent sound and very well done otherwise. Bravo!

Brilliant movie, everything was perfect about it. This would have to be one of my favourites now, I will be definitely watching it again. The music was brilliant in everyway as well as the plot and the VO's you could hear every word they said. I can see that this movie will be high in the charts for a while.
~Bluemont Studios congratulates you on this big success.~

Well done. It wasn't that scary though, and I didn't like how quickly it ended, but then again, I don't like to watch a TMO movie that's much longer than that. I personally don't think animated thrillers can be scary. It's a good movie though, I enjoyed it.

Man, you've got talent. This is one of the better horror movies on TMO and beside that, the movie really stands out. The camera angles and atmosphere where terrific, but the plot wasn't as good. The VO sounded a bit muffled, and you used the same screeching sound effect over and over again, but aside that, the movie is very, very good, especially the atmosphere. Great job!

Trailed off a bit at the end there, but otherwise a good example of what is achievable.
One of the best I've seen yet, without doubt. Keep it up!

I feel bad I didnt review this when I first saw it, I believe it very well could of been my first movie I saw on TMO. I remember seeing it as a new release from the home page when I was just a newbie here. I'll tell you I saw this as the standard for the genre' and felt I had to match this at least. So I stuck to sci fi...lol...even though my first one was a horror released as an action movies. I didnt know better back then, all I knew was that it was hard to shoot them and keep those stupid little actors happy until I sold them before they retired for 38 bucks...lol. So this movie is part of my history on here and has always been on my mind when I think horror on TMO. Creepy is my one word review. But Look I am on page one, not page 40...lol your reviews are longer than some screenplays I read. I last thing...You got skills!

Proof that the secret of good horror is to appeal not only to our visual senses but our aural ones to. This to me is a great hybrid movie, I suspect you have a strength and depth of horror knowledge which is vast. I saw elements of Japanese horror (Hideo Nakata especially the sound), Italian horror (Ruggero Deodato he was the first person I saw that used the filming your own demise premise) and American horror (Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez). All i can really say is you used them wisely. This reminds me of why I learned some Sanskrit chants to fend off evil spirits as a teenager (sad but true). Good movie.

Just fantastic! Just fantastic! Very cool, i liked how you used sets like the school corridor and turned them into something different. It was actually very scary and is the best horror/mystery movie i've ever seen on TMO. I loved everything about this movie, except that sometimes you can't hear what they're saying. Except for that it was just fantastic!
This is going to my list of best TMO movies (#2). This is a great film that was scarier than Death Trap. Ninette1 and this movie is going straight to my bookmarks! Keep rocking, and keep scare us!

I'm amazed that you managed to make a truly scary movie with was is available in the game. I never thought a horror movie made with this game could be taken seriously, but you have done an outstanding job here. The sound effects and music were bone-chilling. This is a disturbing and frightening movie.

First of all,This movie's camera angles were amazing. But what I don't understand is y it got so much praise...I mean c;mon people...NOTHING WAS SCARY! The best part was probably..... The blood. The storyline didnt have any point towards the ending...but the stars that I'm giving this movie are for the camera work and to the OMG 24.The movie was well put together but really not much horror more of a thriller/action.

Well, for starters, you opened this very well, the little homage to your comedy leanings shining through with OMG24, very nicely. When you go down to business, though, you really didn't let up, you played the atmosphere beautifully, building up the tension with what we could see, not just giving us glimpses. And for once, this was a film that left me with that nasty little lingering feeling at the back of my mind, instead of the [censored!]-your-pants and die mentality of others. The use of the free-cam again was very good, made the whole thing seem that little bit more convincing.

A Critic's Center Review

Opening Statement:
May we say this is the scariest movie of all-time ever to be produced here on TMO. Alot more scarier than The Torture Brothers. Ninette you have done it again as a studio going into other genres and dominating them with great movies. This is also the best work we've seen with free cam so far. It was like Evil Dead with the ground laying camera tricks. Nice work there Ninette. This is the type of movie that you can just watch over and over again. The mirror stuff was creepy also. We wondering if this was the same studio they did KOPS and ROCK HARD because of how different it was from those movies.

Genre Feeling:
It also had a great dark atomosphere with nice fog work also. Rain also added to it. Great vibe feel for any horror fan on here. The horror and thrill excitement was there and it never bored it's audience. It fitted right into the horror genre with some great jumps also added into it. Any horror fan will appreciate it and it was better than the ghost movies that come out in Hollywood.

Requirements Department:
You pretty much succeeded of the requirements with some great writing in this movie and direction work. The creativity factor was surpassed in this with great custom backdrops, custom titles done with custom backdrops, the custom music was really on par and we turned the volume up with the music on here really nice sounds there, mod work, and outside editing. The free cam was impressive and everything that went into this. Great VOs very top notch, especially since you did everything on your own. Like the title part with the creepy voice and ghosts voices. The storyline was great and it could possibly be a sequel and nice dialogue to go with it. Strong acting vibes here in a great quality movie, which is dubbed as the best horror movie to ever be produced here on TMO. An A+ for you Ninette.

Bad News Satement:
There was really no real mistakes in this movie because of the great overall quality of the movie, but we'll like to be helpful here. This movie went straight to the point with the scares, but we wished there was some reason why they went there. The great thing we liked was how the killings were hidden. It had a plot, but if there was some emphasize outside of the horror situation that would've been great. Other than that a really great movie here.

Studio's Direction:
Ninette you continue to change genres and release some impressive movies. Now you're third major movie is a hit and really is the top horror flick ever to be produced here on TMO. Ninette as long as you continue to work hard on your movies they will always be excellent. You seem to take your time and that's what makes these movies come out so great. You have executed the whole point of free cam as well as other features here on TMO. You made yourself look like a whole different studio without the laughs in this movie and that's very important for great filmmakers.

Studio Rank:
VETERAN

At Critic's Center we make sure the studio takes something out of our review and use it towards future projects. We don't just say a few words and leave you with nothing. We give you reality and it always has helped our filmmakers in the past. The mission is reviewing.

Closing:
We've always seen great things out of you Ninette more than anybody else because you got into different genres and execute great filmmaking and art portrayal. As a whole this movie is generally pretty scary the ghost stuff was great pinning this as the scariest movie on TMO. When will see the sequel and KOPS 3?

I hope that you plan on making A LOT! more movies like that, horror is definatly your game, you put the magic touch to that movie.
I hope that when I get the stunts and effects that I can make one good horror movie too, probally not as good as that one though, no wonder you won the compition.

Wow! This was scary! But I don't think it had to be rating restricted (R). You have done a great job keep on making horror movies because you have the talent! Next time make when the people get killed make them have blood on them that is when you rate it restricted. If you make another movie like this make PG-13.

Sorry I forgot to review this. This review comes more than 12 hours after the viewing. It was dinner time... ya know...

This is of course a very classic horror. Sound effects are used to great advantage, and the overlays also used in creative and appropriate ways to enhance the atmosphere. I loved the "ghost perspective". The ghost voiceovers add also another layer to the horror mood.

A fun ride, and a must see for any TMOer who would like to specialize in this genre.

A wonderful movie of horrofic proportions. This has to be one of the best Horror films I have seen on TMO, and even more so I ain't even a fan of horror films I can't stand them. However this film had me shaking, wonderfully voice-acted and very well put together. The cohesion of the piece is what gave the film its supernatural feeling.

The use of the free-cam again was very good, made the whole thing seem that little bit more convincing.

Fantasticabulousstupendulistic movie here. A movie has never been more worthy of 5 stars. It covers all other movies on TMO in a shameful shadow.
Officially my favourite TMO horror movie.
Freaky music and sound effects combined with great camera shots are how great horror movies are made. This had every one of those things in it.
I loved the way it got right to the scary stuff. No absurd storyline to make for a dull movie. Everything just went into omg wtf overdrive.
i would advertise this on my studio.....but it seems you have 27 pages of reviews already :S
My last thought: I wish my movies would just crawl into a hole and die. I'm so sorry that the creator of a movie like this had to go and watch the horrificness of *snorts* 'MELEE'.

Editing 4/4 : Great editing. Good use of free cam to help achieve a more frightening movie.
Dialogue 3/3 : Great Vo's. Easy to understand for the most part.
Plot/Originality 4/5 : Good plot. Doesn't have any real depth, but does the job. If you ever revisit the sanatarium a bit more history about the sanatarium, such as what caused so many people to die. Perhaps some history into some of the individual specters that haunt the place.
Entertainment 5/5 : A very entertaining movie, the use of sound effects, good score and camera angles manage to create a very creepy atmosphere.
Music/Sound 3/3 : Music was used to great effect.
Total : 19/20 - 5 stars - Excellent

Opening Statement: OUTSTANDING!

Look, this studio gave a favorable rating to my silly 3rd attempt. Liked my 80's movie references and seemed to actually get "it".

So I thought I'd check out something from Ninette1 and return the favor.

And then I was BLOWN AWAY by this film. Sure, I could be some lame picky weenie and say "Oh you had continuity problems" or "your plot was blah blah blah." But you know what?

FINAL WORDS: Brilliance doesn't always have to be disected.

This is an great movie, and it shows what The Movies Game can do... well, at least the expansion... but, there are somethings that are really nice and we cannot do with only the things that there are in The Movies Game... you made a good work out of it, and another thing... The voices are superb, maybe I'll begun to make some voices out of the Movies!!! Who knows...

I have to say...you made excellent use out of your resources to pull this movie together. The sound, voice overs, and music were quite effective in this flick to give a suspensful atmosphere. I also noticed you made your own backdrops for the title and some scenes which is always a welcomed addition to a movie, and it was well thought out in this one. I especially like the scrolling words at the beginning that told about the sanitarium and the back story. In my opinion the movie plays out like a 6 minute Blair Witch Project meets Session 9 meets Poltergeist. It is obvious you put some thought into this...so excellent work and a job well done! This will remain one of my favorites.

Plot/Storyline: Standard plot for this type of film. Well written storyline with good dialogue.

Editing: Some good editing choices. Nice mix between the camcorder style and regular footage. Excellent use of sound effects to enhance the horror feel and atmosphere. I thought there were too many fades and a few too many uses of the camcorder shots. I wasn't too fond of the guy still scanning with the EVP device after his partner was killed, i think at that stage it is pretty obvious the place is haunted. Voice overs were done well. What was missing was music, a good creepy tune would have helped with the atmosphere and intensify the action is some places.

Pacing: Good build up and spooky feel. Short movie so the action was well placed.

Overall: A very good horror film. Well done use of sound effects and visuals to create the horror feel. The absence of music stopped this from receiving my top honor. A good eerie theme would have been the hallmark for this creation. Nonetheless this is an excellent film and one of the best movies I have seen from this studio. Honorable mention and a highly recommended horror.

A blood chilling horror film!

Story 10/10

Its kind of a regular story of ghosts not leaving the place they died, but the story was just so creepy. The way you used SE in this was done very well. The storline was blood chilling, and I caught myself jumping and looking all around me several times. A wonderful story to an awesome horror flick.

Effects/Editing 10/10

The effects and editing were the best part of the movie. Without them this movie wouldn't have been near as good. It chilled you to the bone. Great job!

WOW Factor 10/10

WOW!

Dialouge 10/10

The VO was incredible. There are only a couple movies that have great VO, and this is one of them no doubt in my mind. This movie should be Number 1 on the charts. Whats the deal?

Music 10/10

All I can say is that it was incredible.

This movie was a masterpiece. I've done my share of horror movies, but they don't even compare to the way you execute yours. This is, like everyone says, the scariest a movie can be on TMO. The way you used the haunting sound effects blows me out of the park. Voiceovers were on par with the movie, and the music was absolutely terrifying. I've never taken the time to watch any of your movies, but I saw this on the home page and thought "what the hell". I'm glad I decided to watch it, because I'm a huge fan as of now. Anyone who hasn't watched this, needs to, because it is one of the reasons to make movies. I can't wait until your next movie, I'll be one of the first to watch it!

Thanks a lot! Now I'm going to have to completely reshoot my upcoming horror film just in order to make it worthy of being released (much less worthy of watching) in the wake of this horror masterpiece of yours. Superb use of all the filmmaker's tools--freecam, overlays, music, and sound. And some unusual scenes as well (where did that mirror attack come from?). Absolutely brilliant.

Good intro. Very Blair Witch like, good sound and overlay use. Sharp editing. Neat grate view, although almost blocked too much.

Story left me a little wanting. The atmosphere setting was the best of any TM horror movie I've seen. The sound engineering really drew you in. But I couldn't figure out who was holding the video camera thus necessitating the overlay.

Setting - Use of Sets, Scenes, Costumes, and Music - 5 stars hands down. Although on costumes, I would have differed the two main chars a bit more.

Creativity - Originality and Creativity used in making the film - it's definitely creative. Sort of had the same "what's the point..." Blair Witch aspect, but pulled it all off. 5 stars.

Story - Plot and Dialog - Dialog was great. The excellent editing made the plot a bit of a grasp, but it came off ok. Vid cam owner hard to determine. - 4 stars.

Technical - Editing, sound and subtitle sync - Technical...can't say too much, it was excellent on all counts. - 5 stars

Overall: 5 stars. I'll be voting for you on the hot pick at 8eyedbaby.com

Please if you have time, review my movie, it's on the sci-fi charts and needs reviewers! http://movies.lionhead.com/movie/92779

Also look for it on the hot picks list at 8eyedbaby.com next week. :)

A wonderfully atmospheric horror - the whole thing was like a really scary ghost train ride with a shock around every corner - and a good variety of different shocks too. I liked the continually pulsing soundtrack - and indeed the use of a musical theme at the end. The aloneness of being in that scary environment was successfully captured by the lack of music until the very end.

Overall, a superior horror.

I have no idea what to say, but I'll try anyway, the movie was, bloodey exellent (no pun intended) I've seen dozens of horror movies on here; but none actually came close to scaring me, none except yours; the atmosphere was amazing really creepy and it really did unnerve me quite a few times.
The movie was also very stylish espiecially the part where that guy attacks himself through the mirror, very good, all this as well as some great camera angles all packs together to make a 5 star movie.
Well done!

Well ninette, a very nice film. Lets get started!

Plot: The plot was not the mnost oringal plot there is on TMO. It is similar to as a few people exploring a haunted house. It did seem iike part Blair Witch, with the camera recording and stuff. The characters were not the most interesting, but they worked. 8.5/10

Music: The music was amazing, as in every of your movies it is. The music here fit perfectly, and it made going into the santitarium creepy. It helped give the creepy mood, amnd it all worked very nicely. 10/10

Dialogue: The VOs were pretty much perfect in the whole movie, and the echoey sounds were just fantastic. The characters said all of their lines very well, and that was great. 10/10

Tilt: This is a very good horror, and be far the best on TMO right now. It can litterly scare the hell out of you a few times, and that its what a good horror movie shpuld do. The use of Stunts and Effects is also brillent. All in all, a very good horror that should not be missed. 10/10

38.5/40= 5 Stars!!!

Ninette takes a stab at horror and pulls off a terrific tense beauty! Wonderful composition and atmosphere was unstable, making the perfect mood for the audience to feel. Sound effects manipulated the mind and attributed towards the anxiety displayed.. Very deep and interesting plot, confusing at times and what is most frightening was how the perspective was always through the characters vision. The eagerness to flee in a uncomfortable situation really brought out the tension and suspense effectively. Some insecure moments but to a horror, had all the right elements to scare the living daylights out of someone- well not as much as a cinematic film, but in a TM viewpoint? Great camera shots and editing superb!

I had a feeling, aftering watching "pretty hate machine", that you were about to tap into another genre besides comdey. All I can say is, I'm glad that I was right! Great freaking movie, N! This is probably the best thing I've seen by you, and that's saying alot since you have so many other great flicks! Great story, soundeffects and editing really push this film to the max. I loved the dialog...It was funny in some moments and scary in others. The VO work was also another big high spot! Some of your shots were really, really good...I was kind of in awe during that one shot of him turning the camera around to introduce himself! That was some clever stuff! Again, one of best horror flicks I've seen yet, with the new expasion pack. I hope to see you tap more into the horror genre on future films. Excellent work! - 5 stars way up!

Ill admit Ive been away from the tmo community for awhile due to a new job yata yata but I do stop in from time to time just to check out some of the movies put out. Havnt really left any reviews but I came across your movie and felt that I should leave a commit since this is in my humble opinion the best movie ever produced using all the tools available to all you film makers. The script was great, backdrops were quite inventive, dialogue worked very well, and the plot was highly orginal. Furthermore this is a great example to all other tmo film-makers on what each of them can actually really do using the expansion pack with the creative camera angles, etc that you used. Great job. I hope to see more movies like this from the community during the 20min a day i have to relax hehe.

WHOLLY COW!!!! Gave me goose bumps, man!!! This is definetly the freakiest movie ive scene in a LONGGGGG time on TOM OR The big screen!!! You should send this into MGM or Paramount, hollywood needs new ideas, and i bet this one would knock peoples socks off!!!
The soundtrack was perfect, the editing was UNBEfreakinleavable!!! its gonna take me a long time before i can make something even CLOSE to the quality of this movie! I know im only a small studio, and dont spend nearly as much time editing my movies as i should, but i would be honored if you could check out a few of my movies. What can I say - horror at its best - really gave me the creeps - makes me wonder what makes you guys think of these things - they are so twisted! lol. Seriously, excellent writing and production, no wonder youwere up there with the best in the award. I am gonna go make something which is not even half as good but hey - thats what good movies like this does - gives people the ambition to strive harder for better end results.

I'm sorry. I DID NOT find this scary. It didn't make sense. The sounds got cut off, and I just didn't see the point. I'm sorry. I probably sound mean. The only reason I'm rating it 5 stars is because obviously a TON of work went into this and I wouldn't want to overlook that. Also because everyone comes out with a bad movie, so I'm giving you a break. Last reason: If I rated your movie bad, you'd rate mine bad. It's pathetic but that's how it works. Once again, I'm very sorry for sounding mean. But at least I'm being honest. But don't weep over one bad review. Just block it out. Anyway, gotta go!

Wow! I'am still impressed about your nice scary horror flick! :)
Watching the two guys exploring the haunted sanitarium was pure scary fun.
Excellent story plot with a nice twist of Blair Witch Project and House on Haunted Hill. :) The editing is so brilliant that I nearly forgot that this movie was made with The Movies. You've mastered the free cam perfectly and the heavy use of it gave the movie a real scary vision. The creepy music and sound effects boosted the movie's atmosphere even higher. The VO's are top of the notch and the voices of the ghosts are just great. :) What should I say more, then this is another true big Ninette~1 Blockbuster movie! Scare on! :)

This was the turning point of ninette1's reputation on TMO. With Fear she showed that she was a horror making expert but with High Hopes Sanitarium she has showed that she is THE BEST horror movie maker on TMO, and also one of the best overall. This movie is not to be missed: it is a rollercoaster of terror and shock. Fantastic. I am in awe! Bravo!!

Great movie. I definetly can't see a reson to tek down even a fifth of a star! (Then again, some REAL experts might drop some stars off. Boy, am I lucky I'm not one of them) The thing really was chilling. A clasic story of a haunted sanitarium, told with grace and many curles of blood.
P.S. How did you make the rising letters at the begining and the camcorder thing? I'm curious to know.

Script: 5

It was somehow a typical horror story, but it was well thought through and written. Really nice and I must point out that horror is by far not the genre I like most ;)

Production: 5

No option than giving 5 stars. Good overlay usage to build up the athmosphere, nice free-cam usage (as far as I have noticed you used it). Also the set usage was very good and the set dressings were nice too. By the way: You chose a pretty good screen cap for thisone. Well done!

Music and Sound: 5

Good VOs, perfect music and SFX to build up a nice horror athmosphere. In some scenes the VOs were a little mumbled though and hard to understand, but this more added to the athmosphere than disturbed it.

Overall: 5

As I said, I normally don't like horror much. But thisone was pretty good. 5 Stars from my side.

Result: 5 stars

Quite a good little horror movie you have here. Very nice very well done, some good sound effects. One of the best S&E horrors on TMO so you should be proud of that.

My only problem was the length but I suppose you have to cater towards your audience and on TMO 5 - 10 mins is the norm. I would have prefered more, for me we are into the action to quickly, however this was still a class movie, well done.

Astounding. You actually acheived a creepy atmosphere in what amounts to a cartoon. I didn't think that was possible. Some excellent editing and a great little storyline combine to produce a gem of a movie, worthy of every star it gets, and then some. If this isn't at the top of the horror chart, then there's something wrong with the system.

I don't have the time to go into a full review, but I have to point out what I liked most: The solid storyline backed up with camera angles, voice acting, sound effects, and use of backdrops. It's no wonder you're in the top 25.

Posted on July 1, 2006
- FluffySim92

Wow.
I don't often watch a lot of movies on here, but the title and the screenshot caught my attention immediately. How could I resist?

**Possible Spoilers Ahead**

The storyline was good. I wasn't entirely sure what happened at the beginning, but after watching it again, I think I've got it now. As someone else said - this is a movie you can watch over and over.

Superb camera angles. When the camera was moving along the floor, it made me feel as if 'it' was 'looking' for them. It really helped set the atmosphere. I also loved your editing, you know when it looks like a camcorder recording what's happening? That just really set the scene. Very good use of the custom camera angles, like when he dropped the camera.

I think one of the things that contributes to this being a good horror movie is that you didn't have to use a lot/any gore. You simply built up the tension with music, camera angles, dialogue, etc.

I rated this 5 stars. Fantastic job, keep up the great work!

that was the best horror movie on TMO by a long shot. the difference between this and torture brothers, which personally i found very ordinary, is that you didnt rely on gore. you crept people out by the chilling scenery and story. great use of the new camera angles really set the mood.
not the most original movie. it kind of reminded me of a movie called "house on haunted hill" about an old mental asylum that has ghosts in it. anyway, this was different, but i had the HHH feel of it, which is a good thing!

I thought it was really well done for what we have to work with. I was quite impressed with the camera work and the moodiness you brought to the film. It was quite good, reminded me though of something I have just seen on the Sci/Fi channel about ghost busters at some asylum out in Tennessee, Kentucky or Virginia. This is very impressive: most original, well cut, generally good atmosphere, and mostly well-edited audio. The idea was well-considered, and the idea hung together well (it was somewhat reminiscent of the Blair Witch Project, only your premise works better). Some of the sound effects were particularly impressive.

That being said, there were some problems. Occasionally, it was hard to hear what was being said: it is very important that the dialogue is always louder than the background, and the female ghost with the Australian accent was just incomprehensible at one point.

Also, perhaps more fundamentally, although the concept of the plot worked well, the exposition didn't quite work: there wasn't quite enough opening, nor quite enough back-story on just why this particular sanatorium should be haunted, and why its ghosts should be out to kill the reporters (and what, if anything, that had to do with the murders reported briefly on the news at the beginning).

The blood written on the walls at the beginning was perhaps typical both of the ways in which the film works well, and some of the problems: the idea of the writing on the wall was nicely done (as was the writing itself: technically, very proficient): it serves to build suspense and give one the increasing sense of unease that makes a horror film work. Unfortunately, it is brought in just a little too soon (really, the whole film should have been at least twice as long: horror works best when it's slow; we need to get to know the characters before we care whether they're killed horribly, and then spend plenty more time worrying about just when and how they're going to be killed), and the line "I don't think that's paint" fell flat, not because the idea of one of them realising that it was real blood was inherently a bad one, nor, indeed, because that particular line is a bad way of expressing that realisation, but because, at that stage in the film, it shouldn't be so clear that things quite that creepy have gone on. Either put the writing on the wall later in the film, or make it unclear whether it's paint or real blood at that stage (and then perhaps, at just before a critical moment, have one of the characters come back to it, take a closer look and then - chillingly - realise that it was real, fresh, blood all along). The "I don't think that's paint" line should have been at or near a climax, and the realisation should have created a stronger reaction from your characters than it did. "It's probably just teenagers" doesn't work *after* they realise that it's real blood: what graffiti artist would use real blood?

Nonetheless, a very good film, particular praise is due for the creative use of the free camera, and the special effects (it was hard to tell what set was being used sometimes, which is a mark of real skill), and the wonderful sound effects. A very good effort; if only it was twice as long!

Wow, I'm really impressed! Completely different from your previous movies I've seen yet the same high quality level. I really enjoyed watching 'cause I felt the most important thing for a good horror movie was present - the scary amtmosphere. To be honest: "HHS" belongs to my personal Top 5 horror flicks here on TMO and that says something!

6 minutes and 66 minutes of terror to say the least! I must say this is some of the best S&E usage that my eyes have seen to date. After the success of ??Rock Hard?? I know that Ninette would Rock us all hard once again, but not to this extent, the VO quality is right on! The sounds you chose to use scared the **** out of me at all the peak moments of this film, always a good thing :)

Look out world, looks like some of Us Gals are taking over the movie world :)

Sheeeeit.

I should *not* have watched this with the lights off.

Horror movies are all about atmosphere, and the inventive freecam tricks, set dressing, overlays, sounds... all of it, just melds together in a sick nightmare of wow.

You own this genre.

I love the sound effects although the voices made me laugh a little. Proof that stupid people shouldn't go into haunted places alone. Reminds me of playing horror games where it gets you all hyped up and you know something is going to happen. That's the best part. Not a movie to watch before going to bed.

This is THE MOST FRIGHENING MOVIE ON THE MOVIES ONLINE. All that I can say is that that was an amazing use of the game, voiceovers, custom backgrounds, and a horrific storyline. Once again Ninette that was an amazing movie. (If you can, please rate my movies).

personal view: It was a real enjoyment to watch this film, it did feel like a horror, my only dissappointment was watching this at 12am i couldnt hav the speakers up high. The style of this was very well done, and is a great horror feature

Sounds: Some excellent Voice overs there and the sounds were brilliant too. However it would of made it more frightening if some other sounds were used in places that wernt. Apart from that, nothing to complain about, Music was a good choice though it didnt creep me out to much. 5/5

Quality: Some excellent free cam useage there. The way you used the recorder was fantastic (such as the bit where he dropped it but saw the ghost coming, fantastic impact there) editing was also great, but with its flaws. Some scenes were exposed for too long and dumbed down the effect and thats the only reason why its a: 4/5

Story: The story was actully a little weak. Theres no real start. The middle was fundimental part and was very well played out, but no proper explanation to the lead up to the middle. As for the end, it happened suddenly. From what it seemed to me near the end was this, then that, then this - end. More detail was required in the story. 3.5/5

Origniality: Fresh material, and great use of freecam to add to it, its quite impressional. 5/5

Effect: The sound was key and you almost hit the nail with it, it just lacked in certain places, the quality of the editing and free cam was crucial to this films overall success and it has done that very well. However it lacked certain aspects and the story brought this down a little.

All together it was a pretty sweet film, it started of well and was maintained strong until the end which was a little dissapointing - 4.5/5

22/25 - 88% - converted into 5 stars by my scoring system

conclusion: A great film with good horror moments and was very entertaining to watch

What a fantastic film you've got here. I was hooked from start to finish, my only complaint is that it wasn't long enough.

You did a great job with the ambience, it really captured the feeling of a haunted sanitarium, along with all the ghost sceens as well. The editing was fantastic, not a single mistake anywhere in the entire film.

Awesome work!

Probably the best ambience I have seen in a horror movie on TMO up to this point. Very nice creepy feel to it that shows horror doesn't have to be just shock or gore. The only big knock I can make on this movie is that it felt very incomplete. It didn't feel like there was any story to it, the feeling was more like it was a snippet from a 90 minute full length movie.

4.25 stars but I am kicking it up to a 5 because I appreciate the horror ambience you were able to get across.

Get caught hooked on watching right from the word go..
A spectacular horror that gives you the feeling that you are not alone when watching it.
The atmosphere was perfect, which made this movie the more enjoyable.
This studio has shown that it is not only good with comedies but horrors are on the agenda now as well. The acting was brilliant and use of camera placement was placed and used in such a way that you are caught in the middle of what is happening.

This movie leaves you feeling all fuzzy inside afterwards,The feeling of satisfaction in otherwards.
A must watch for horror fans !

Insane Assylums are the perfect places to have horror films, and this uses the setting brilliantly. While its lacking any real story, it more than makes up with its sheer sense of style and editing, especially with the camera footage aspects, all done so brilliantly. It also had a very spooky atmosphere to it as well, which is a huge plus. A very highly recommended film, star class stuff.

One part Blair Witch, one part House on Haunted Hill, mix with light plot and a ton of atmosphere, and you get this very well made horror movie. The close up shots were appropriately executed, making most part of the movie into some sort of quasi-documentary; also, the close ups gave the movie a sense claustrophobia which adds to the horror. This movie has one of the best sound effects I've heard.

From Mission: Reviewing Team
Hosts Jeremiah and Dr. Googlestien
With WCP, 02Parsim, Kane23, & Toronto Sun members

VETERAN

Useful Message from CC:
At Critic's Center we make sure the studio takes something out of our review and use it towards future projects. We don't just say a few words and leave you with nothing. We give you reality and it always has helped our filmmakers in the past. The mission is reviewing.

Closing:
We've always seen great things out of you Ninette more than anybody else because you got into different genres and execute great filmmaking and art portrayal. As a whole this movie is generally pretty scary the ghost stuff was great pinning this as the scariest movie on TMO. When will see the sequel and KOPS 3?

Hey great movie, i loved the use of the free cam. The best feature i think of stunts and effects by far. Your sound effects and use of atmosphere really helped create a scary setting and i loved al the home made cam stuff, really well done. Can't wait the sequel... or prequel... interesting.

WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA. I wasn't afraid but I don't get afraid to easy. BUT THE ATMOSPHERE WAS FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I liked this more then most of the horror movies made in REAL LIFE!!!!!!!! That was freaking trippy crazy just all out good. The ending was good but I could of done without the scene you know what I'm talking about don't want to say it but really didn't effect the movie. Because everything besides that 3 or 4 seconds was marvelous. You've gotten yourself a NINJA CRONIC FULL MEAL MOVIE. Wonderful.

The only TMO movie I've seen where I haven't been able to pinpoint exactly which set was used in each shot. Great editing work! Love your use of sound effects - without that element, this movie would have suffered, and you used them expertly.

How Puffy Was It? Holy crap! All 5 star reviews!? I didn't think that was possible! This movie was so good even 1 star ninjas liked it! WOW!

Originality:8/10-Seemed a little like one of those cheesy "ghost hunter walks into a haunted house and captured paranormal events" But this one was freakier. When paranormal experts actually encounter a ghost! EEK!
Plot:8/10-The plot wasn't really that deep. But it sure was good enough for me, and sure kept my attention/ had me on the edge of my chair the whole time!
Dialougue:10/10-Truley believable, and realistic. This added a whole lot into the movie.
Music/sound:10/10-THIS IS WHAT MADE THE MOVIE FREAKY! The disturbing sound effects, the horrific music, I dont think I can take this...AAAHH!!!
Editing:10/10-THIS IS ALSO WHAT MADE THIS MOVIE FREAKY! The ghosts, and sounds and camera angles! Whoe! The mirror scene was also by far one of the coolest scenes ever. This movie gave me chills!

PufFactor: 46/50-SNUFFIN PUFFIN NOMINEE! No doubt, this movie PWNED

It's very hard to find a worthy movie like this one here on TMO, where the director takes the games' limits and not only uses them to the fullest, but surpasses them with unbelievable creativity that makes the movie so believable that the viewer is amazed that it was made with a game full of limits.

That about sums up my reaction to this movie. All I gotta say is, congratulations, Ninette. This is the first movie I see by you and I can't wait to see many more! Keep 'em comin'!

Alright, I just have to feel my pulse and...ok, it runs very quickly. Hell, Ninette, that was for sure the most frighteneen horror movie I have seen on TMO. None other movie on this site ever scared me, but this, that was just...I guess a primitive internet word like omfg would describe it best. It was just OMFG.

The beginning was maybe the best I have ever seen. It was so full of atmosphere, it was just out of this world. The soundeffects caught me and brought me in such a deep atmosphere that I just couldn't get out. The VOs were also good, they feeded into the movie I guess. And the story, alright, it wasn't that deep, but the presentation of it. Awesome.
I loved how you used the FreeCam. To be honest that was definitley the best use of FreeCam I have seen to date, it was even better than Meowan's in "Fern der Realität 2".

Overall I can say. Awesome movie which I will watch 100 times again...for sure. You made it Ninette the first movie which can says about itself that it's a true masterpiece of horror. This must be the next #1, it has to.

... I'm speechless. That was outstanding! Breathtaking FX! How did you do the attack out of the mirror?! Breathtaking atmosphere, WOW!
Did somenbody of the other reviewers already mention "HOT PICK"?

I always was convinced that good Horror can be done with TM and I am proud of my little flicks. But THIS is the new reference for horror movies on TMO.
Did I already say "WOW!"?

Some of the VOs were a bit hard to understand (the camera man was really hard) - but this may be cused due to the fact that I'm no native speaker. And it didn't bother me to enjoy that masterpiece of horror.

I won't express my enthusiasm for the details that made your movie so superbe (like Sounds, Music, Editing...), as I only would repeat what the others already said. Instead of doing that I'm going to download this movie! :o)

WTF?

This is a TMO flick?

No, no way. This is one of those warpy, twisted little gems I watch in the out-of-the-way, round-the-corner, indie theatre, like where I watched Blair Witch...

N, this is spectacular work - outstanding atmos(fear), sound, VO, and music synched in fine fashion to carry the viewer through with a very complete suspension of disbelief, and a constant sense of unease and dare I say it, terror... I'll be going back and dissecting this film several times (in search of clever effects and ideas to steal - still trying to figure out the attack-through-the-mirror sequence), because this one surely sets the bar for how a TMO horror film should be done.

That graffiti was just bent - LOVED that... "...mad children", indeed... Damn, you are warped in the best way, Ninette...

Forever a fan, my friend...

Flow: 9/10: Nasty, nasty speed in which i was forced to enudre the horror of the inmates, I didn't watch it, i experienced it.

Set Dressing: 10/10: One sentance: you MADE a mental hospital come alive.

Editing: 10/10: WOW, just.... wow. Fornicate me it was top notch.

WOW factor: 10/10: I'm downloading it, enough said. Very Blair Witch. Finnaly a scarey horror. Almost scared me, proud to know you and glad to have watched it.

Score: 49/50 : 4.9/5 : 5 star. FABBO!

Absolutely awe-inspiring. A fantastic plot and some knockout scenes ranks this among the best films that I have seen on TMO. A great use of overlays aswell marks this out from the pack. Horror is difficult to do, but this shows just what can be done when it is executed right. I have to place special mention to the opening scene, as this sets up the movie exquisitely. A fantastic horror movie that deserves to be recognised for how good it is.

Pulses rise and panic ensues in this richly textured tale of terror, that will have you blowin' out your left ventricle in no time! Masterfully woven audio/visual techniques are employed to flesh out this film's cursed appeal. Especially effective is the realistic and gritty backgrounds that almost created the illusion of watching a crime forensic report or television show on the supernatural that goes horribly wrong! Ultimitly teaches one not to listen to the advice of strange little girls . . .

Truly the ghost movie horror i've seen it will be a while before it's topped good work loved the use of the sounds your's by far the best in that area. The S&E cam shots 10/10 i saw a movie not long ago on dvd called boo and your's creaped me out as much as that did. Though it wouldn't had as much of an impact to me if it warn't for the sounds so be sure in the horror area you keep that part in order because i don't oftem get scared but you succeded, thank you.

Now i have a review system called R.O.L review if you would like me to do one for this check my thread on what to do. I need to have your permission to do it.

**** Swift Grand Guignol Review ****

This has to be one of the freakiest horrors I have ever watched on TMO. Nothing too gruesome but it has a great use of camera angles, overlays, and various sound effects. The mood of this movie is very well developed. I couldn't help but watch this movie again because it's just so damn good!

It's like Ghost Hunters gone wrong or something. Definite worth the shock. My favourite scene would have to be the mirror. To have your reflection come out and attack you would be ... frightening.

One minor crit would be the clothes the female news reporter is wearing. I thought it was too casual but everything else is magnificent!

Theres a new kid on the block that surpasses them all. I have seen the future and her name is Ninette. Be afraid boys. She's coming to scare the f**k out of you and takes no prisoners in the process.

Her talent is just oozing from every pore. Her creativity knows no boundries. Never mind this movie making it to #1. This goes without saying. The question is...how fast can a movie just released attain Hall Of Fame status?

Im laying odds that as soon as you watch this movie, it becomes just that. Hall Of Fame worthy.

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I just switched to Geico and saved a ton of money on Car Insurance. The bad news is that I spent the money on a shrink to help me get rid of the nightmares I have suffered at the hands of watching this flim.

You Ninette are f****ing BRILLIANT! This is why I look forward to seeing each and every movie you have coming our way.

In movies I never really hear many sound effects, or quite as many beatiful shots. In this movie you'vemanaged to get a great handle on all of those things, even though it's your standard horror story you've added your own special touch to it and made it much better. Very good.

You've really outdone yourself with this offering. I'm actually at a loss for words. Well the movies starts with a real disrurbed atmosphere and it continues throughout the entire 6 mins. Not giving you a chance to rest for one minute.

Cinematically, this movie was a marvel. Utilizing techiniques from many great horror movies. A little Dawn of the Dead, Blair Witch handicam, and even a great attempt at the Vertigo stairs shot....what else can i say other than every camera choise really puts you at a state of unease and doesnt let up. Add in the fantastic lighting, SFX, weather effects, BD's and overlays. and of course used to perfection by someone who really has an eye for horror....

I absolutely loved the mirror scene...that was too cool....

Once again you continue to leave me in awe with your talent....

A very creepy and atmospheric horror film that I thoroughly enjoyed! It was a standard horror story, but it was delivered so well. The editing was top notch. A lot of clever camera tricks and angles made it interesting.
It was fun to watch and kept me hooked. The sound effects were used to incredible effect, setting up a very atmospheric film. With out a doubt one of the best horror films I have seen on TMO--very impressive!

Now,... that was a ride. Very clever use of the free cam, wonderful shots and atmospheric camera angles.

A very well placed carpet of sounds creates a creepy, moddy background for a classic horror movie. Also, the backdrop work was without flaw and used in proper places and always for good reasons.

Could be a start of a potent series, if you decide to go that way. Who might fall to the sanatorium doors next? I did.

From Critics Center Hosts Owen and Dr.Davidson with Jeremiah and Dr.Googlestien

This is the first true horror on TMO..I've watched alot of them but this is the first one that actually got my heart pounding...The use of the free cam was fantastic and the sound made for an atmoshpere beyond any other film I've seen..Shows that when you put this free cam in the hands of a great film maker anything you want to do you can....Great film and this will hit No. 1

Holy Crap! That was creepy! Was that based off the one in Kentucky? I really liked how you used the sound effects/ music and then added in complete silence. Very chilling.

Ninette1 this is one great horror flick, action, Suspence, and terror all in one! Making a horror flick is a tuff job, but you just blew out the bad, and sucked in the Good! You really understand, that the ghost really want to be left alone. Great Vo aswell. But the greatist in this movie is The SFX. Sound Dog, did a great job on this one! Over all 5 Stars!

Best Of Luck Ninette1
