Film Description
SINISTER midget Studios presents:

The Fat Kid
WARNING - THIS MOVIE CONTAINS FANTASY VIOLENCE, COARSE LANGUAGE, AND SOCIAL COMMENTARY

Michael Fairlamb - Male VO's
Jessica Fairlamb - Anna Bulemia

Winner of the "Ninja Cronic Full Meal Movie Award"

This movie was made using the S&E expansion, but it does not REVOLVE around stunts and effects. S&E provides movie makers with the ability to add subtle flavor and nuances to their works, but much like barbaque sauce, it is not a meal in itself.

This movie contains Custom Sound Effects, and Custom Backdrops provided by SINISTER midget Studios. There are No mods in this movie. Audio refined and altered via Audacity, Backdrop Art created using the GIMP.

Special thanks to SatansMunchkin, for the following advice:
"You have a string of 1-frame slices, basically meaning that the movie "skips" forwards too fast over those parts and it shifts the sound out of sync. Try not to put 1 frams slices back to back."

Thanks to that advice, I removed my custom studio backdrop animation intro, and the export became close to synced.

Remember your childhood? Laughing, playing, going to school, making friends, falling in love... but it wasnt like that for everyone. Remember that fat kid? If he was lucky, he had a few people to tolerate his presence and hang out with, but they weren't really his friends. He never got a date, his clothes were never in fashion, his haircut wasn't 'fly'. Bullying him was a daily ritual for most of the boys, and ignoring him was an unspoken law for the girls. What ever happened to that one lonely, frustrated kid? Did he grow up, or maybe he didn't make it that far. Would you care either way? Was he YOU?

This is the short story of a boy named Harold, a teenager with his share of problems. After a decade of being ostracized, he's given up on fitting in. The hormones of adolescence that should be powering his transformation into a man instead fuel a vivid and sometimes violent fantasy world where he hides from the cruelty of reality... when he is permitted to. Forced by a stern father to wake up and face reality, Harold is torn between the need for love and acceptence, and the desire for vengence against a society which has forsaken him. Which force will win?

please keep in mind that what the character does at the end is left up to you to think about, until i make a second installment.

FINALLY!! After about half a dozen attempts, this is the closest to audio sync i can get. At least the audio is in sync for the first 6 minutes!

Interesting story and plot, I totally related to the emotions of the main character. The not understanding people's motives, the acceptance, the fear, the depression, and the anger. This is what it feels like emotionally when you are bullied at school. Also his Dad was probably the worst bully of the lot.

Excellent use of freecam, with some great shots. Also great use of other SFX.

This is a masterpiece. I could of sat though the whole story right now. How you played the main character was great. Your VOs were right on. With some other people to help you can get a serious slamming movie with your directing. Very good use of camera and editing. This was a very well made movie. You get yourself a Ninja Cronic Full Meal Movie award for this. Very Very good.

I must admit this was one of the best dramas I've seen on this site. The story got me hooked right away and kept me glued to the screen! Great work that deserves a 5 star rating!

Plot/storyline: It is one of those stories where we know what is going to happen from the beginning. It is up to the storyteller to take us there or catch us off guard and take us in a new direction. The storyteller does an excellent job of creating the tale which does eventually lead to where we expected to go.

Editing: I liked the use of the flashbacks scenes, was well done. The voice overs were done well. For your continuation, I would recommend trying to find some custom music to help enhance the tale. While I knew where this story was going the ending cut - to be continued was disappointing. Hopefully there is a lot more to offer in the second installment.

Overall: A good movie which takes us to where the opening leads us. Very nice use of flashbacks. Without an ending, it is disappointing and also makes me wonder what the next movie will bring.

"MoMc Review"
3.4

The first title looked nice, but the scrolling one went past too quickly to actually read the writing. The voices and voice effects were done well through the dream sequence. Some of the volume levels in the library scene were not balanced so well, and some of the voices sounded the same.

The school corridor scene had a good script, quite indicative of the way some school students treat each other. However I felt that much of the male lead's internal narration came across as awkward -- while the emotions he expressed were real, the script just didn't portray it so well in some places.

Some appropriate music may have helped to build the mood.

The sets looked a little bland; they may have benefitted from higher graphics settings and/or appropriate use of set dressing to make them more visually appealing.

The intermixing of the real world and dream sequences was done well, though perhaps some of the scenes or dialogue could have been shortened.

Overall, I thought this was a good movie, with characters who are unfortunately believable. The problem I had with it is not that they are believable, but because the movie did not present any real options. It's like sitting in the boat describing the color of the water to a drowning man.

this movie addresses / exposes the problems of stereotyping, bullying,
and discrimination, and in my view, that makes it a
worthwhile effort.

Speaking as someone who worked at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, this movie adds to the ideations which perpetuate school violence. It affirms a kind of violence that should not be publicized or condoned. Even if the rest of the plot resolves the need for violence, it is wrong to continue to write about school shootings. Plus, the foul language is not needed.

Very very excellent work indeed. Great work with the characters, the blending of scenes and a nice plot. It comes close to 5 stars by my watch, but the thing that brings it down for me is the great over-use of the language. Sure the use of profane language is debateable, but there is a line in any case no matter what it is... too much of something. Anyhow, I'll be looking forward greatly to the next installment for sure. That's something I don't get to say too often.

At first I thought you made a mistake in making the protagonist have such a whiny VO, making him very unsympathetic, but as the film reached the end it became clear that you made the right choice.
Visually and stylistically impressive, and enough work put in to make it stand out from other similar themed TMO movies
I hope there is not a sequel, it works well as a stand alone movie but I sincerely doubt that you could add anything in a follow up save more of the same but maybe with added gratuitous violence.
Good movie.

Great storyline! I'd give it 7/5 stars if i could. The characters were pretty realistic, so was the situation. It was a well written peice of art. I would be surprised if this wasn't in the top 100.

This was really great, it's a type of movie rarely seen on TMO. The story flowed very well and I really felt like the character was believable, 5 stars.

all i can say is:

for a movie entitled the 'fat kid' it wasn't what i was expecting. i thought you sort of ruined the atmosphere of an emotional film into another violent high-school attack.

Awesome. What a cool story line and such effective Voice Acting. The direction here is outstanding. Dialogue was quite amusing. "Chunk-Style" LoL. Entertaining from start to finish with some really cool SFX to help carry the flow. The voices in the middle of this movie were kind of low but ya know its not easy doing voices. Great effort. Real cool ending. Much like a rack of ribs this story is satisfying.

This one is right to the point. I loved it. I was one of the people that got picked on it that way . And Hanged out with alot of them that were picked on that way. My best friend was one that did make it and shoot him self in the head not the school thing. But back to the movie, it's on point and show what they say and think. Great work !

Above all elements in movie making, the script is the heart of the film. The dialog was crisp, fresh, full of real emotion had me held until the very end. Even though the story isn't completely original, this film maker reveals and the raw and realest version I have ever seen on TMO or anywhere. I was amazed at the tight editing in this film as well.

This film has obvious "fresh to the film making scene" mistakes, but I these are the same blemishes that I made when I started. Another film with out these minor mistakes and we could see and top of the chart blockbuster from this film artist.

We at LMAO Studios will be kepping an eye on this film maker.

Film was very original with great voice overs. I read one review below that they didn't sync up together with mouth movement... that is a loading issue with the game and internet and not your fault.

I felt bad for the guy and was entertained, and I think the second personality trying to take over is nifty, but the columbine type dramatics are a little bit much, which is not something to take light of, in my subjective opinion anyway. With that, 4 stars out of 5 stars.
