Film Description
A bit of "movie therapy" for me. Not a movie I expect many to get, so please don't worry about watching/rating this one. Is it just me, or is this just a REALLY COOL thumbnail?

Migraine symptoms are extremely varied and no sufferer will experience exactly the same pain. Many sufferers experience warning signals before other migraine symptoms commence. The 'aura' which usually precedes an attack can leave the sufferer with blurred or distorted vision and nausea. The next migraine symptom is commonly a headache, which has been described as being 'hit by a sledgehammer'. Along with this, the attack can cause lack of co-ordination, feelings of numbness in the body and sensitivity to light. Even after the headache and associated migraine symptoms have ceased the sufferer will be left feeling washed out and exhausted, making it all too easy to understand the debilitating effect the attacks have on the lives of sufferers, as well as the knowledge that it could return at any time.

Music by 6-headed monster.
Thanks to 8eyedbaby.com for the black & white sets.

Splendid.
outstanding work with cuts, music and sets.
Conveying an illness through the monitor, in an abstract way is such a great idea....I whish it had been mine...

The feelings of the victim is thoroughly shown to, and felt, by the audience.
Yet another great work indeed.

This is one of the best depictions about something that is an everyday problem for some people I've seen. The hoplessnes and desperation one feel when hell is inside once head, and noone, not even God can help you.

Actually I found this a change from TMO in general. It is a very artist piece. I went to a College that stressed independent and artist films over hollywood style. And I enjoyed the escapism that they brought for me. Kudos to 6-headed monster for the imagery and visuals complement each other. No 'rating guide with this, just a feeling from within.

People like me think a migraine is like a headache. Ha. Thanks for letting me understand what is really behind. Thank you for point me what this kind of suffering really is.
Get well.

You're not alone. Those migraines hit my postmodern noggin too. :)

As far as the film goes, it's an accurate depiction of a living migraine. I almost got one just watching it. Well... not really... but, you know...

A visually interesting piece with a nice concept to it that falls short of being great.
The visuals and editing in this movie were quite good as it is in all of your films, but Migraine suffers from a bit of visual monotony as past the initial "hey this is a cool idea" phase, the film does not give much else.
Also I felt that while the music was good, the sound could have been utilized much better to highlight some of the conditions and symptoms one might suffer.
All in all, a good concept and a unique presentation, make Migraine a good little movie.

I can relate to this - the feeling of despair and hopelessness. As anyone who has suffered from migraine will know, you are quite literally unable to do anything. You can't fight it. You just have to let it pass.
The combination of the visuals and the music conveyed really well what it is like to experience a migraine.
I'm off for a lie down.

Excellent portrayl of the effects. I do not get them but I do get extreme pain from a previous car accident and the world becomes black and white cause the colors are masked by the pain. there is nowhere to turn and you are caught up between extremes. all of this was expertly demonstrated in this vivid film

These stars aren't for the depiction of the feelings migrains can evoke (which, indeed, you've catpured wonderfully)

These stars are for the masterful and consumate skill you used to make something comlpetely different to anything I've found on TMO to date.

I am a fan of your work but I had to admit this film was a bit 'out there' for me.
Interesting take on a visual representation of the experience of a migrane but i felt it continued too long and lacked any real story.
Stars for originality and editing. Not bad in all.

That's how I feel sometimes with my headaches. I have gotten them a long time and both my parents get them frequently. It's exactly how most describe it.

I thought it was real good, kinda slow in the end. It was very good though, good use of actor movements, costumes, and custom sets. Good Job.

Dulci, I am always a fan of your work and this film lives up to the potential of all your other films. The art and abstract style in which the film is shot is strange yet very cinematic and this proves to be one of your greatest films yet. Excellent use fo sets and the art direction was PERFECT! This is a hotpick in my mind. By the way, that was a cool thumbnail ;D.

FOR THE SCORES...

Plot: 4/5 (The film had an abstract plot, not a plot consisting of characters and a basic story, making it so unique and wonderful)

Editing: 5/5 (The editing of the black and white sets was great. The changes stayed with the beat of the song and that is a hard thing to to with editing)

Script/Dialogue: 5/5 (It may sound weird, but in a way, this film spoke for itself, even though there were no subtitles or VO's. The film was very easy to follow and once again, that was part of the styling of the film

!WOW! FACTOR/Uniqueness: 5/5 (Never, I mean NEVER, have I ever seen a film like this on TMO. It is unique, contains great art direction and cinematography, and is just brilliant and unique)

I loved this film and it is by far, one fo my favorites. I am bookmarking it!

GOOD LUCK

Another Dulci-licious film. The interposed black and white was extremely effective, and the thump beat of the music added much to it. A nice piece of work.

Yes that is a cool thumbnail. I like it too.

That certainly felt like a migraine. The light and dark, the music having annoying changes of rythm and a niggling, insistant sound. The bathroom runs, the lying still, with nothing in your mind but the light and the dark, and the pain.

I used to get a lot of migraines and headaches. Then I got divorced, and I have rarely had one since. In my case they were caused by stress, that is why they stopped, when I left my ex.

Apparently having too much caffiene is also a cause. Then again sometimes they just plain happen.

Btw I love therapy movies. That is because I can feel a connection with the Director.

Nice one Dulci!

I hope you find out what is causing these, so you can cut it out of your life.

I'm just amazed at the "illusional" effects you've used in this. The acting was brilliant as well. I felt inclined to give 5 stars.

So you are the infamous vo actress Dulci. You've done great work around here. I just love your voice acting. I hope to get the pleasure of maybe working with you someday! I'll be in touch...

Yes, I get migraines as well, and they are killers. I'd agree on the general concensus that yo've accurately portrayed what it's like. One question however... How'd you get the solid black and white backgrounds??

More of an experimental project than a "movie". I still give you tops because it is so interesting and kept me watching. The changing black and white really reminded me of my worst migrane ever. Great job! Your artistic style is impeckable.

I give this 5 because i do not think there is any othey way you could use the movies package to explain a migraine. I had migraines for years, and those years are a comple blur to me now. Fortunately i have been told there was nothing worth remembering. I love this as many people do not understand what it is like to have migraines and dismiss it as "a headache". The best way i know to how to explain a migraine is this: think of the worst hangover you have ever had, multiply the feeling by 4, and think about having that feeling hit you whenever it felt like it. But then it is different for everyone, that was just me. At least i am fine now, all my migraines are caused by alchohol lol.

A movie about a migrain, never saw it coming.
But despite the odness of this topic you still managed to pull it off.
A very clean edited, nice movie, and a REALLY COOL thumbnail.

Good movie. Music is effective in translating the suffering that is a migraine into its sonic equivalent. This goes a long way in building an empathic bridge from those who are not tormented by what seems to be inscrutable agony with those who are blessedly free of its pain.

migraine - a severe, periodicallly recurring headache, usually on one side of the head, often accompanied by nausea, vertigo etc......

now you know and knowing is half the battle.

I personally would drill a hole in my head to release the inner demons. I read that in a 12th century medical book (hope it still applies or i'm in serious trouble)

I loved the irratic style of the movie... had i known i would have made a better, more irradic, drum driven music track...

Well, THAT's a downloader! I have never had a migraine headache, but I've know people who have, and always wondered why it was such a big deal. You've educated me!

I can say this, at one point in my life I went through a horrendous tragedy that left me, in what I call, my "Black Period". The depression was so deep that everything actually did look, garrishly, black and white. Surroundings did actually look black and shilouetted. So, from that experience, I'd have to say that your portrayal in this movie is right on! It's not just art, it's reality accurately described in an art medium. Very well done! (And yes, the thumbnail did look rad.)

I'me not a migraine sufferer, but I dated one, once upon a time, and what you've shown here on the screen matches quite closely the feelings she described when talking about her attacks--but in an artsy sort of way :) A little out "in the ether", in a way, but there are thousands of films made every year that are without a beginning-middle-end formula, so shame on anyone who takes points off for that. This little film is expressive in a way that a dialogue-heavy, linear-story movie would not have been. I hope it was as therapeutic for you as it was educational for non-migraine folk like me. And an entertaining couple of minutes, too! Not something I'd recommend for people who seldom stray from straightforward Hollywood stuff, but for those with a taste for something beyond the usual boundaries, this is a winner.

Now this is a difficult one to comment on. Personally I see this as a brave movie with a little touch of avant garde about this. I don't actually suffer migraines but do suffer with my sinus's (and I can remember spending a year on medication, only to find out it was stress (which is why I shouldn't TMO) causing it). To me this plays as a pop video, which expresses emotion. You do this really well and the fact you worked only on a visual and aural level I applaud you (although I like your voice). The movie also worked from me after the weekend I've had! Check out my Des-F-Pair movie for more details and my motherboard blew up to cap it off which is why it's taken me so long to watch the Sleepy Hollow movie! I can see how this will invoke mixed responses, it won't be everybodies cup of tea, but then again thats what I like about it.
