Soundbug? What soundbug?

The only soundbug I noticed was the green guy's VO which was consistently far too low in the mix. The director should have seen to that and boosted the gain on his lines - that was the only thing that cost this film a star (sorry in advance considering what I'm about to say, but not to be able to hear the words of a major character is unforgiveable). Otherwise it was fantastic. To do editing like that without freecam was amazing. Great ahead-of-their-time special effects too. And the music was superb, matching the mood of every scene/dramatic beat. Apart from the green character who I couldn't hear, the performances of the cast were all terrific.

So close to a 5 it's untrue.

Look, I may be a little late on the film reviewing
for this, but it blew me away nonetheless. I believe
you are a very talented SCI-FI director, and you
deserve a lot of credit for this movie. I didn't
even know doing all this was possible without the
expansion pack, but hey, you did it. Congrats on this
adventurous movie, and have fun with the third!!!

I do not feel that you completely delivered on your promise with this effort. The ending effects are definately impressive, but other than that, nothing here really blew me away. I felt the effects and the action should have been a little better since you seemed to purposely allow the story to be secondary. There was a noticeable lack of humanity to be found in your characters, and I really did not like that your characters' faces were always covered. An above average effort overall. The solid ending saved it.

The story was not the greatest, but the production and the backdrops as well as the sets you used (to which I am very jealous of) That was enough for me to bump you from a 3 movie to a five.

The story was in itself not that gripping but the filming and the added props, sets, and backdrops were top notch.

I gave it a 4 only because during one section it was extremely difficult to understand what A. Ghost was saying to Dylen. I wish there was a different method to rate these because I would have given it a 4.9 due to the awesomeness of everything else. Great suspense and I really enjoyed it.

At last! A movie i can genuinely say i enjoyed! This is actually the highest rating i have given to a movie and suprisingly this movie came so close to getting the five gleaming stars. In fact up to the three quarters mark it looked definately about to get the five stars, unfortunately then the tiny little mistake crept in, and it bugged me, then there was a few more little things that began to bug me so that by the end i really had no option but to give this a high four star rating. But then I changed my mind because this movie was excellent and thankfully I give the movie heart in such a tragic tale.

Before i go slightly more critical about the movie i will first state all of the things i did like in this movie. I am glad to say this movie at least still touched me and managed to convey the emotions of the victims extremely well. this blended terrific and downright great moments with smaller moments from the original movies game. I was happy to see this is a proper movie rather than an "oh look at me i have a deep voice!" movie. This has a purpose and mainly gave that purpose very well. The news section at the beggining managed to show some cool stuff from the game while strcitly remaining realistic and benefited the movie entirely. Also the dialogue was pretty good and the music played excellently in the background.

Overall this was a very strong movie that highly beenfits from the game, my moans are that it could be longer and just some editing issues. Overall a great movie that i am eagerly awaiting the sequel for.

PS. Rate my movies!

This is a tough one to review and score. First the script though it might be a triolgy wasn't quite clear, which is fine to some extent except had me a little bored in the middle and going huh? The fx and voice acting were well done though. Top notch. The sets were great too. Editing was fine but personaly I would take out some of the faceplate closeups as they add nothing since we can't see eyes or for that matter anything to imply feelings and emotions. So overall script and plotting 2 stars. Fx 5 stars. Voice acting 4 stars. Editing 3 stars and music 5 stars for the total you got from me! 3 and a half stars but since I can't give you that I'll give it 4.

Epic, absoloutley epic! If this doesn't get an award i don't know what will!

Plot: 8/10: A little cheesy with the destiny business but it was brought back from the brink with the end, the "baddie" revealing he had been texturing and altering it. Inspired.

Dialogue: 10/10: Perfect from the mettalic sounds coming from the players and the haloist to the computers completely neutral tone. The vocab was perfect for the story and setting and high quality, i had to turn my speakers up to hear it but i guess you can't be blamed for their shortcomings.

Sound: 10/10: The music was fantastic for the settings being suspenseful (is that a word?) in the right places as well as futuristic and spooky where appropiate. The sound effects were pitch perfect especially the jungle sounds.

Editing/modding: 10/10: Probably the best film i've seen for modding and editing, the jungle was brilliant, the corridors dissipearing was unique (that i've seen) and you can tell a hell of alot of effort has gone into this! (Just seen the time it took, YIKES!) It was imagnitive, skilled and well polished.

"The Chipmunk" factor: 10/10: A joy to watch! I never noticed that it was 10mins+ untill i looked at the details. Excellent cast (To be fair this is what drew me to the movie when i was looking at the posters(Which was very good too!))

Overall: 10/10: 5***** If i had an award i would give it to you! This is going on my bookmarks. Please PM me when you have made the next one! (And if you ever looking for a extra..... *wink wink*) Criticism of my reviewing and your thoughts of the score is always appreciated as well.

Artificial Artist takes The Movies to a new level with the Haloist II.

Critical Areas:
Plot/Storyline: Good plot, with a well-written storyline. A complex tale which kept a lot of intrigue until the end. However, with such a big build-up the ending was rather anti-climactic.

Editing: SUPERB. The visual effects were brilliant. The customizations created a whole new environment, The special effects were great and almost seamless with the movie parts.
Music: This is one of the few films that is a prime example of how music should be used in films. Through using your own music and scoring the film , the music helped play an integral role, enhancing each scene, adding drama and intensity. Excellent job.
The voice actors did a great job of acting.
The voice overs - The middle of the movie was almost inaudible and difficult to understand. From about the time he gets to the Island, until you hear Player 2 clearly. The robotic type voice effects were very good, but it may have hampered the overall quality of the sound.

Overall: This is a great movie, You put a lot of work into this and I give you a lot of credit. For every positive aspect of this film, there was an equal flip side to it. Great plot story, not so great ending. Great music special effects and acting, not so great sound quality. For me this hampered it from being one of my great movies (if viewers can't hear majority of it). If you have time to clean up the vocals some time as a future project. I would be interested in a clearer remastered version.

Most likely the greatest Sci-Fi to hit TMO. It is evident that so much time and effort was put into making this film possible. The VOs were perfect. Everyone did an amazing job. More studios on TMO need to put this much effort into their films. Keep up the amazing work.

it was amaizing man this is grait where did you get the sfx from it is truley amazing i hope for you to make another film but also was it about halo

Posted on June 2, 2006

My rating swung a bit as I was watching this movie. The first minute and half were absolutely brilliant, and it was solidly in five stars territory. But then the movie's quality suddenly dropped a notch. The story seemed a bit inconsequential (just a game?), and the voiceovers became difficult to understand, and the lines seemed to echo some generic scifi I watched before. I was ready to give this four stars. As the conclusion neared, suddenly the lines became clearer and the ambiguity of the last sequence undoubtedly made this movie emerge into five stars surface.

Admittedly I haven't watched the first episode, but enough clues exist for the viewer to pick up from here. The concept is interesting, but I think it lacks some depth. Nonetheless, the moviemaker confidently showcases his skills in elaborate sequences that faithfully recreate the scifi look and feel that all of us fell in love at one time or the other. And this makes this a must-see.

Good film, at first i didnt quite get it, but i managed to get the hang of it as the film went on, this film must have taken you ages, there is so much content on it that you have created, Overall 5 stars!!!! Very cool film, especilly because its a sci-fi i love them!!

please watch and rate mine.thanks.

I feel kinda bad rating this less than a 5, because its obvious how much work has gone into this. The whole movie is visually stunning, with some outstanding custom scenes to boot. What let it down for was, the 'green' guys voice overs were practically illegible, and considering how slick this entire production is, thats almost inexcusable (in my mind). I feel I missed out on a large portion of the movie because I could make out what he was saying - he was too quiet and was often drowned out by ambient sounds or background music. On the subject of music though, what a great composition - perfectly fitted a futuristic setting.

I don't give out 5 stars very often. I bookmark movies even less. For this film, I've done both.

Technically - beyond mastery. The first film I've seen in a while that I can say is ahead of its time. I was dumbfounded at some of the tech pulled off. You know it's good when you're scratching your head thinking, "how'd he do that?"

An oft overlooked talent in TMO is casting; as it is a relatively new phenomenon to have recognizable voice actors in our films this film has taken the extra step of making sure each actor is cast perfectly for the part. This has to be the first film I've seen that takes Dulci's subtle sultriness and uses to subtle effect as the ships computer, rather than exploiting it.

The film is impressionistic, humorous, ironic (a game within a game within a game) masterfully cut - in all ways attention to detail is the theme here, with outstanding results. This is what sci-fi should be - engaging in atmosphere and experimental in script and purpose. Well done.

This will be one of the first studios I check out after the release of the SE expansion. I can only imagine what The Haloist III will be like with that set of tools at this director's disposal.

Best Movie on TMO ever. In depth story line. Ultra oriional. Hollywood quality Vo work, the best i have ever heard, awsome editing, truly amazing. If any movie deserves recognition, its this one. I am going to tell every one i know to watch this. I never knew such things could be done. The Movies constantly throws new chalenges at us and you have mastered, and surpassed, every one of them. Suspensefull, thrilling, and imaginitave. When comppared to this, all other TMO movies are just home videos shot in some guys garage. A truly incredible movie that deserves #1 spot, and to stay there.
Beauty movie eh?

Even though it mostly seems like an origional movie, you did tie it inot Halo so i have to ask that you see my movies, most or all are about halo.

This is amazing. I gotta give you credit for alot of stuff:

Self Composed Music
Self Composed Sound FX (Wow!)
Awesome Vos
433 Custom Backdrops(370 MB)(OMG!)
The Mods And Retextures
And All The 148 Days Put Into This Amazing Piece Of Art!

The credits in the beggining was simply amazing, there was about 50 backdrops just to build up the words 'The Haloist II'. That's amazing. The middle did get a bit boring, but right when they were in the corrider, the awesome fly-through scene of the corrider was ridiculous and amazing. The horizing was sweet, and the jungle set was pretty cool.

The idea of all this is amazing. This is the # 1 Sci-Fi AND Overall film Hegalot Studios has ever seen, prob, and just look at the description... 370 MB of Custom Backdrop Artwork... 148 Days Of Work... More than 4,000 props used... 5 Months Of hard Work... An Uncut AMM Footage of 1 hour, 1 minute, and 35 seconds... 611 total scenes in AMM... Stunnage, this movie is the best pwnt of the year...

All is in all... Haloist 2 is BRILLIANT... COMPLETELY PURE BRILLIANT!!!

Einfach beeindruckend!

The Haloist II
By: Artificial Artist

Where to start with this one? I thought the idea of this movie was very unique and very entertaining for the most part. I became a little uninterested when it started to talk about ??The Haloists???? motives, but not enough to make me stop watching. This 12 minute movie flew by as if it were only 3 minutes, so it??s deffinatly worth the view if you have the time to spare.

Originality ?? 10/10 ?? Very original idea, so original I was lost in parts, but I was able to get back aboard.

VOs ?? 7/10 ?? These started out so good and with the cast you had I expected the tops, but it didn??t deliver for the shear fact that I couldn??t understand what Player #2 and MC were saying when they were by themselves. I know the effect you were trying to create, but their voices became to muffled and very tough to understand. Everyone else was fine.

Presentation ?? 10/10 ?? I loved the presentation of this one. The beginning and end credits really made you feel like you were watching a movie. The music went flawlessly in the beginning to really set the tone for the entire movie

Plot/Story ?? 8/10 ?? Very creative and original, but I like I said early it lost some flair with The Haloists motives.

Editing ?? 8/10 ?? The video editing was amazing, but the music volume could??ve been lower in parts so I could here the dialog, but that??s the only real flaw I noticed.

Music ?? 9/10 ?? The beginning and end music PERFECT, your selections fit the film nicely.

RTKIII Factor ?? 8/10 ?? The beginning presentation really pulled me into the movie and had me never wanting to leave. The story itself kept me interested for the most part, as I have mentioned already, but it was really the music and the editing that kept me glued to the screen. This is deffinatly a movie you don??t want to miss but if I were to give any advice to this director it would be to work out the VOs in parts where I think it??s pretty obvious where it needs work.

Overall ?? 60/70 ?? 86% - 5 Stars ?? Highest Rating with Storm Weekly!

Overall ??
Grading Scale
0% - 29% = 1 Star
30% - 45% = 2 Stars
46% - 65% = 3 Stars
66% - 85% = 4 Stars
85% - 100% - 5 Stars

From Critic's Center Hosts Owen and Dr.Davidson with World Pictures

Opening Statement:
Artificial Artist, this flick has been long awaited for months, and the wait is finally over. The Haloist Part One was a masterpiece, this, is legendary. The amount of work put into this flick was evident, and this really was great.

This movie fulfilled and surpassed all the requirements set, and then some. The script was brilliant. It portrayed a sense of Halo, it gave you chills when needed, and it gave suspense when necessary. A flawless script.
The voice-overs were excellent, not clear at times, because of wearing a helmet. Very realistic. A well chosen cast for this flick.
The Custom credits are part of what make movies stick out from the rest, and this is what it did. The custom credits were easily the best ever on TMO. It gave the mood of sitting in a movie theatre, full points for that!
The second part of making movies stick out from the rest, is custom music. The music was used at the right times, giving the sense and mood needed at that moment. Well made custom music, and added to the excellence of this film.
The third and last part of making a movie stick out from the rest is Custom, retextured, modded sets, costumes, and props. Everything was customized, with the effects well done, making them move smoothly. The costumes were brilliantly made, really convincing Halo costumes there. The sets were top class bar none! Very well made and used, and the set dressing and effects were purely stunning. An A+ in the requirements field.

Five-Star Golden Performance
5GENRE Must-see Film
Acheivements everybody wants from Critic's Center

Closing Statement:
A movie that is purely stunning in each and every aspect. Ingeniusly composed music, well done voice-overs, and extraordinary custom work. The script was excellent, and the editing and directing were near perfect. Overall an excellent Science Fiction flick, a legendary experience.

Well. Beside all those great sound effect, this really impressing special effects, the great Voice Actors and the nice custom props, I have to say that the movie started kind of slow and it was only in the end a bit exciting. I think you put a lot of effort in the story and not only one the presantion. The sentence "I am the Haloist" made me listen up, but after this and before this it was quiet slow. There wasn't much talking, only sences and special effects. Yes, I understand when you mean that this is a part of series and the movie tells a story and it's impossible for me to cut one of those things out of the movie, I know it, I feel so too by a movie. But let me honest, beside those special effects, those really good made sets & props, the movie just don't get speed at the right places and just when it starts getting interesting it's over. Maybe you take some criticsmn serious and make for Haloist 3 an exciting start where you just want to know how the movies goes on...
But I have to admit, beside the story, it was great. Brilliant presentation. As I said not only the special effects (the bomb, the bomb!!) are great, also you have some of the best sets created (because you really used the props).
Oh and one thing. The Trailer to Haloist II was amazing, if you would have brought this movie 2 or 3 months earlier out than you would have come to #1. Now I am not sure about it, but I am not very suprised if it would get #1.
So, well, I am looking forward to Haloist III, Sleeves rocks as the actor he speaks.^^

How do you make such cool movies. And how do you create customs sets and costumes and SFX and all that stuff. You make it look so easy! You have a Nack for movie make. Pure Raw Talent! I'm just so ticked off at how you create custom sets, costumes, etc. And how do you do that thing where they flick costume's in one shot.
It is just totally mind blowing. I thought i was quite good at making movies and everything but you've showed me i've bairly scratched the surface.
I just don't understand it all. Phenomenolmenol... or however you spell it.
Plus i don't get how people have made movies like a year before my studio with different sets. Like i make a movie on my studio in 2005 and someone who made one in say 1999 has got different sets. Has it something to do with sandbox mode?

If you could, could you come to my studio and reveiw one of my movies and tell me how you do it. Please?

WOW! That was amazing, probably one of the best films I've seen on TMO. The editing was imaculately done, and made it feel more like a real movie than one made on TM. The special effects were amazing, the music was fantaqstic and really helped to create an incredible atmosphere that completely immersed me in the whole story. The voiceovers were perfect and the story was flawless. I did however find it hard to understand the story because of the absence of the original movie "the haloist" which I never got to see but I'm sure would have filled in some gaps that I didn't understand in the movie. Other than that, the movie was absolutely incredible and worth the wait. Once again the bar has been raised another 100 notches, and this film surpasses anything on TMO. Deserves to be at the top! Fantastic!

From Critic's Corner hosts Jeremiah and Dr. Googlestien
Opening Statement:
May we say this is just purely stunning. This was the best hard worked movie on TMO and it showed in the movie. Alot of outside editing and the set dressing was great. This was already one of the most anticipated movies on TMO no doubt about it. Artificial Artist you made a real quality blockbuster movie and it was one of the first real big anticipated blockbusters of all-time on TMO. It got us thinking they should make a Halo movie. Love the whole sci-fi setting and the music was a great theatrical acquisition. We love 3D movies and there needs to be more of them released out there.

You surpassed pretty much every requirement we expect. From the on set you had one of the best openings and credit and we like the typing and the whole computer generated sound effect. Special F/X we're amazing along with the music especially the moving music through the movie. Nice credits music also with it. The VOs we're a little low, but it was top notch stuff. The outside work and creativity was at an all-time high with original mod work and great set up characters. The 3D movements we're great. The plot or storyline was great also and you had to watch the 1st installment to understand the sequel, which lived up to the expected hype. You're going to get an A+ in the requirements field.

Five Star Golden Performance
An achievement everyone wants from Critic's Corner

Useful Message from CC:
At Critic's Corner we make sure the studio takes something out of our review and use it towards future projects. We don't just say a few words and leave you with nothing. We give you reality and it always has helped our filmmakers in the past.

GENRE10 Must See Film
Artificial Artist you worked very hard on this movie and nobody and we mean nobody can take that away from you. This is one of the best well put together movies we've ever seen and the movie itself was a step above the rest. As long as you continue to work on your hard movies they'll be great. This movie no doubt should be #1. We can't wait to see The Halolist 3 as it seems like it's a cut above Ranger's Troopers series. Definently a World Pic.

For visual stunning I think this is the best so far I've seen, look at the effects, the custome scenes, all are very well made, very great efforts!

I awared of the dialogues are very hard to follow, maybe because the sound effects are louder than the voices.

Anyway, Great production, The Haloist II was in my coming attraction list long time ago, it wasn't disappointed, Bravo! 5 stars!

Wow, this is great! I`m very happy that Dylens thread pointed me here... what great special effects and sounds, the music is excellent, the voices also! Only sometimes (mostly in the jungle)the sounds were too loud, so that I couldn`t understand all of the vo.. you created a real eerie atmosphere here, and I like the story! It is evident how much time you spent on creating this movie, the placing of the props alone must have taken you ages. Great work!

The Best HALO/HALO2 Film On TMO

Posted on May 2, 2006
- capemedia

Well, I can tell you this, the time spent on this really shines through the detail in your work is just meticulous. The production and editing were flawless from what I could see, the only thing was the sound issue but you are aware of this, so I cannot hold it against you.

An amazing movie that is has so much eye candy it's probably the best of its type on TMO, the only way to better it, is to go edit outside.

Brilliant, excellent and wonderful, only three superlatives to describe this, well done 5 stars.

Posted on May 2, 2006
- theVillain

Without a doubt this is one of the most well made films on TMO. From the opening titles to the closing scene, it's quite impressive. All the great custom stuff really add to the atmosphere and make it unlike other movies seen here on TMO. The lines of dialouge were delivered very well, but in some scenes was a bit hard to hear due to the sound FX. That would be my only complaint and it's a minor one at that. Congrats on a 5 star flick!

Posted on May 2, 2006

to be honest it did get pretty boring waiting for stuff to happen. I must confess i never saw Haloist one but this is a 5 on the basis that it must've taken you atleast 4 months, the amount of effort displayed here is tremendous and I don't think it deserves less than a 5. a very nice movie to visually spark up your eyes!

Haloist2 builds on some gaming icons and takes them to a whole other place.

This movie was fantastic right from the start. The opening sequence grips the audience and doesn't let it go. The setting is gripping, the characters well portrayed, the visuals stunning, the music brilliant. There are many great things about the movie, but the one that I will mention here is the use of props and cinematography. For example when the lead looks up and zooms out, it is not by accident that we see palm fronds on the foreground. Little touches like this really set this movie apart from the rest. The set dressing leading into the old tunnel was amazing. The only downside was the VO's being hard to understand.

Overall, I thought this was a wonderful movie. I can't wait for the finale.

Holy.... god. 4 months in productions and so worth the wait. The story was original, even if a bit confusing its still a very fresh take on Halo. The customizes props and sets really gave this movie a fresh feel all the way through and I had no desire to push the pause button. Only complaint would be that at times the VO was a bit hard to hear, but otherwise.... hot damn this is amazing.

If this doesn't get on the top 5 charts, I'm going to be [naughty word!]ing pissed. I'm serious.

Superb job on this movie. The characters were great, the storyline was completely original, the flow went well, and the editing was bar-none. The modded sets and textures really helped make it more believable and the effects went well with the subject matter. A+ on this film and can't wait for your next one.

Well worth the wait. Lot's of mysterious buildup, very polished visuals. I'll echo what the others have said about having trouble hearing some of the vo's, but that's such a common problem for all of us. I'm definitely inetersted in seeing where you go with this.

really great movie. a lot of work has gone into it. A Lot of time and effort has been put in and it shows with the detailed environments and characterations. great musical choices.

A movie event! What a fine example of what artistic craftsmanship can accomplish on TMO. Amazing detail work, and more has gone into this movie than even meets the eye (and what the eye see is A LOT!). This has a professional feel to it, with a distinct directing style. Some of the voiceovers were a little hard to hear, but the action carried those scenes through regardless. Sleeves delivers the performance of his career here. The music was absolutely exceptional.

Absolutely gripping opening. Loved it. Great direction throughout and always very special music. Now - I'm not crystal clear on the story and there was a little section where I couldn't quite hear the lines cuz of the music bed, but I really, really enjoyed it throughout. Tremendous mood setting and FX I don't think I'll ever figure out. Now the wait for H3...release date?

At first I thought maybe I should give him 1 star for making me wait something like 6 months, that'll teach him! But then I decided nah i've had my apple juice today so i'm not that grumpy. From the beginning the customized effects of the ship were decent and realistic, but one of the most superb scenes had to be when the bridges doors opened with the main character (I never did figure out his name) armed and ready with nothing coming through, the constant camera changes and hightened music, you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. The custom effects continued to impress working well with the limited scenes in the game, and then he meets sleeves. My favourite actor on TMO his voice suited the part well, although some of his lines seemed a little cheesy. The main problem in the movie was with that music in the background at certain times it mixed with the voiceovers making them hard to hear.
(Sleeves has a really evil laugh I might add) I wouldn't know to call this a sci-fi or horror, and I loved the ending full stop.

Voiceovers mixing with the music was my only main issue here, and it still wasn't enough to detract from the fact that this movie is l33t.

Well worth the wait (even if I didn't have to wait as long as the others). To many little touches in this thing to mention. Very well done. Great music. Nice effects. The only thing I would have done different is show Player 2 killing lots of badguys. Maybe I am biased though. :)
