Film Description
My first movie. Using the basics, and I felt my voice was not good enough for our hero. I kept in the babbling voices for the take with them turned off did not feel right.

I would be interested in finding voice talent, and original music.

Take care and I hope you like the first installment.

*Note have realized some of my subtle work is lost at this size (Eye changes, people in the shadows...) sigh :)

Also I would like to thanks those that have given me some great advice on how I can improve, in their reviews.

Finally, what I have learned from this...shorter,and more grammatically sound subtitles, and to expand more with the tutorials here on the site. Thanks again to all that have seen this and helped me out. The Next Installment is under way (With work though I am budgeting my time :) )
Oh and cut out that damn mumbling got it :P

A very good beginning to your series. The Revenant is an introductory tale into the past of a soul who finds himself wandering the Earth for reasons unknown. A tale of murder, questions, and answers. Written with a good wit and intriguing characters.

Critical areas:
Plot/Storyline: Good plot. Well written storyline. Very good character development.
Editing: Scene editing was good. Good use of musical score in the background. It may be more beneficial to turn the subtitles off. As pointed out before, a few spelling errors in subs. More importantly there was some timing issues with them - unable to read some , flashing by etc... (Will send you a pm on subs)
Pacing: Good use of humor and wit to move things along and skip areas which would lead to flat dialogues/monologues. Provided enough background information for the story to be followed, and left out enough to keep the viewer interested.

Overall: An excellent first movie. I look forward to the following installments.

I'm intrigued. A solid beginning to a series, with some unexpectedly good editing from a new studio. Aside from the mumbling being left on and a few misspellings in the subtitles, I didn't notice anything that distracted me from the flow of the film.

An endearing character with personality - this movie had passion, humor, & suspense. The details are worth watching in this one - the costumes, extras, scene choices, and sets.

This is a studio to watch - I believe we'll see some great movies come off this pages.

That was an engaging, enthralling tale! A most promising new series indeed! Let me start from your film's beginning. That opening scene, with that hilarious opening line, immediately lets the viewer know that he/she is in for a delightful story. Lighthearted, yet serious enough to elicit pathos and concern from the viewer. And the humor was a nice touch. My only complaint (and I'm being nitpicky here), was that joke about the director reusing old footage. The other jokes didn't take me out of the story since I accept that the narrator is a flippant character. But that director line drew me out of the narrative and reminded me this was only a film. It took me awhile to get back into it again. Apart from that it was perfect. I am looking forward to seeing his new abilities and finding out how he solves the mystery of his murder, and claims vengeance. PM me when the next installment debuts. I'm serious.

There can not have been many first-time movies as good as this one on TMO, most impressive! The story was interesting, and the editing very well-done.
I have only one criticism, and that's with the subtitles. On the whole, they are too long. With so much text to be read, I found I was missing a lot of the actual pictures. I know you need to tell the story, but I feel it's important to crunch the text down as much as you possibly can, to one line only wherever possible, that way, there's time to read the text AND look at the picture.
It may sound trivial, but that was my overall impression, that I had missed half the movie because of having to read so much dialogue.
Still, it was a formidable debut, I look forward to your next release! :o)

Editing :4/4 - Saw no real mistakes in editing, good job with that. Most first movies are riddled with them
Dialogue :2/3 - Good most of the time. However sometimes the subs went by a bit to fast.
Plot/originality :3/5 - A good start. A fairly original piece. The being dead and seeking revenge isn't new, but the way you handled it was. I expect the plot will start to take off in the following movies. This servered as more of an introduction to the main character
Entertainment :4/5 - I found this film to be fairly entertaining. One note of caution, you look to have a horror feel to it but undermine that with little jokes all the time. I noticed you have action as the movie type in the description, perhaps that will be more true in the following episodes where the main character now has a human body.
Music/sound :3/3 - Good music and sound. Might want to turn off the mumbling, many find it annoying.

Total : 16-20 - 4 stars - Good job.

Very good story, and an excellent movie for a first go! (Way better than my first movies!). The subtitles had a lot of mistakes, spelling, punctuation and grammer, which can be really distracting. I loved the use of humour, made it much more entertaining and the character more 'real' than if you had taken a more serious path. I will be looking forward to the second installment, recommend playing around with all the editing stuff and AMM to get out all the little bugs and paying closer attention to those subtitles! Well done! 4 stars because there IS room for improvement, and I think you're going to be improving a lot!

a very good attempt at a first movie.

I definately suggest checking out the tutorials up at the top of the forums. they help ALOT!

and always turn off mumbling, there are people that will rate much lower for the mumbling. Also, spend time using cutting of scenes, and moving them around to produce more dramatic results. you'll be suprised what kind of cool effects you can pull off by simply cutting segments and re-arranging the orders.
All in all, check out some of the tutorials, watch some other people's movies to get a feel for what is possible and let your imagination soar!

welcome to TMO hope you enjoy your stay!

Great Story!!! Too much to keep up with the subtitles. However what I could keep up with was great. With voice overs this could see top status!!!

This ghoststory catched my eye from the very beginning. It is very tragic and one dont really understand why this happy couple should be treated in this coldblooded way. Hope they get revenged. I will watch the nest part of this story as soon as possible.

Anyway, nice movie with great ideas.

superb start to a series, written with wit and humour. It was full of acute oberservations and very well written. There were some technical problems but suprisingly few for a first film. the mubling already been mentioned, i also found that occasionally the subtitles were too fast. I do however think it lost nothing without voiceovers the subtitles were well written and delivered the jokes effectively.

A few things that hopefully will help, i presume you didn't mean to upload the tumbnail of the titles. If you shoot a tumbnail in the movies online view in post production rather than the high definition view it should work.
two sites that might help finding you orginal music because the in-game tracks are really stale to people who have been on the site for a while:

hope these help.

I saw the second movie first when it was released so I have to go back and watch that again now. You really don't need VO's. Your scenes and subs and the story as a whole make me hear his voice in my head. (Hm, voices in my head - is that a good sign?) I love the first person telling and the way he speaks.

An original idea, a really fresh way to look at action films. I liked the character development, and the humor was spot-on. What took it down a star is something you already know about: the subtitles. They're too long, too fast, no grammar etc. Also, I felt it moved too fast, it was hard to tell what had just happened before it moved onto the next scene.
Overall, a very good and fresh action movie with a few flaws
Good job!

Wow...excellent and highly original opening chapter...really did enjoy this one.
Story was awesome and editing was great...very much liked the black comedy element going through it too.

A few minor issues, such as the mumbling being left on and a couple of the music tracks were a little ill fitting, but, to be honest, I'm just nitpicking here.

Overall, this was an excellent opening chapter...and I'm going to check part 2 out right now!
Great work.

I liked it. Just a few minor quibbles such as the narrative being humourous for a action/horror typre film. Characters did develop which is good and music fit the part. Good movie over all.

OKINAWA OFFICIAL REVIEW: Okay, this is definately a good start in a series. There are a few things that I'll point out. Action/Comedy doesn't really work in this movie. The joking narrator was getting a bit annoying with the same jokes. I however like thefact that you took time to develop characters and plot. Subtitles had a few mispellings and it went a little fast and flashed at times. The music was okay. Not custom but it was still chosen well. Also I wanted to point out to turn off the mumbling in post production.

It was ok, very good idea though. really good debut film. Thought the subtitles were a bit complex if you know what i mean like the text was quite fast and there were a lot of words at a time so it was hard to read and it spoilt the film a bit. Also you could have improved the exitement of the film, it felt boring, you could have improved the grip of the film by adding custom music, especially horror on the shhoting bit and could have added build up or something. Good debut, gonna watch no 2

[Watched in anticipation of the sequel]

I liked the 'rambling narrator' style, which kept the audience entertained during there periods when the visuals were not so interesting, and vice versa. So all in all this technique worked well.

Music can be a very powerful tool if used well. There were periods in the one song there that has distinctive crescendos, which if these were aligned with the high tension moments in the story would be even more effective.

Overall, I thought this was a good movie, and I look forward to seeing how the story and characters develop. All the best for the future.

From a fellow movement member, I thought this was brilliant! After scanning the numerous reviews you have received I was expecting a good movie but not a great one. However, I was captivated throughout the whole movie. The engaging plot, the comedic moments, and ...and the mumbling! Thankgod you are going to cut it next time - it really did annoy. However, the mumbling didn't take away from the movie, which is what I am rating, so it is still a solid 5 stars. Well Done! Your movie-making is a compliment to the movement.

This definetely has the qualities of a good movie, it draws you in, to a point you want to fin out more, just the clever way you put the dialouge together, and the scenes you use. A very intresting story you've got here, and what makes it better, is the 'crummy flashbacks' The main character seems to have a nochalant, laid back attitude... which, in a way makes me want to find out more... And I think the flashback is a great way of serving this story, it's just right... very good for a first movie, I'll be back for more. :D

Great job! I thought the mumbling was fine. As long as you keep the volume of the mumblings low like you did I think they just add an ambience. Your subtitles are juicy. I don't think you could have fitted any more words in. Don't worry, I like to read, but I can imagine some 7th grader trying to keep up. As far as not doing a VO because you don't like your voice - not to worry. I have never heard a VO where I thought it shouldn't have been done. It's always interesting to actually hear the moviemaker's voice. However, I like subtitled movies just as much as VO movies and your subtitles ware very good!
