The set decorations and the stills were great. I loved some of the shots you came up with. You have come a long way on TMO. This was a great war movie. Excellent job with the editing and the VOs. You have a real gem here. I can't even tell you how impressed I am with this movie.

Editing : 2/3 - Good, a couple spots could use some trimming after the people got done talking, but overall good.
Dialogue : 3/3 - Good voice overs. Crisp and clear
Plot : 3/4 - Not bad. Not the most indepth plot, but it held up the movie well.
Scene/Prop use : 3/3 - Good use of scenes. Nice job on decorating the sets to look like a jungle. Must have taken forever.
Entertainment : 4/5 - A good movie. Kept me interested. Only problem was the fighting scenes started to get a little repetitive. You might have been able to cut a little out and still keep the plot intact while removeing some of the repitition.
Music : 2/2 - Nice custom music.

Total : 17/20 - 5 stars - Excellent. Keep up the good work.

Two soldiers, fighting a war far from home. They arrived as strangers, but parted as brothers.
The intro was effective at setting the scenario. Great set dressing throughout, especially the use of set pieces to restrict the camera field of view (like the shot between the two palm trees). The transition from the backstory narration to "We were a crack team" was jarring, as was the next transition to "The day it all changed". Each of these sections was done well, but perhaps the transition between them could have been smoother (maybe an extra second to pause would help?). The music choice was good, though perhaps a little quiet. The male lead's narration at the start was done very well, though the conversations later in the film between him and the other soldiers didn't sound as realistic (both in script and tone of voice). Consider replacing some of the weaker sound effects with custom effects (I'm thinking especially of the shotgun and machineguns). The voices for the most part were done well, with the first half being better in general (the VC voices and the high-pitched US soldier sounded wrong). The last third or so I started to lose interest, perhaps due to a mixture of the too-quiet music, the constant barrage of gunfire effects without any interlude, the tone of voice in the VO's, and the plot kept steamrollering away without giving a chance to pause and reflect before moving on to the next scene.
Overall, this was a very good 'Nam movie, with a well portrayed main character that didn't stray too far into the cliches of the genre. All the best for the future.

An amazing war film.

You set the vietnam scene amazingly! All the thick buches and trees with thin breaks of land.

The story was superbly done with great VOs and a great plot. The music choice was also superb.

5 stars.

What a great tale, and so well told, the ambiance, the voiceovers. Great peice of work, and a very enjoyabel tale also. The story really pulls you in, and the characters are also intresting. I like the way you've got it setup, you introduce the characters, explain them, and their into the story. Very good war movie, it has drama emotion... a lot in it. Really enjoyed it. :D

Wow Cronic that was awesome. Great storyline. The set dressing was exceptional. This is a whole different side to you. That was a top notch Action Flick. Very impressed. VO's were exceptional too. Sound effects & BG music was also perfectly suited and added to the atmosphere of the Jungle Warzone. Great job!

Definitely an above average war movie, you created the vietnam set very well. Personally I thought some of it was a little cliche, but you don't have to listen to me.

That was an amazing war movie. The pictures in the movie made it even better. So of the voices were a little, well freaky. They sound like you sped them up or something. But all in all that was great!

This was a great effort. A much better film than I expected. It must have taken a great deal of time to shoot and cut. The added stills were a BIG plus. I did see any Nam research here but a good flick none the less. I'll 5 STAR it on it's basic story and plot as most war film tend to be. Its set design and angles gave me something to think about for my up coming films. I think no dialog at some points might have been a better choice than forcing a needless line. I enjoyed the movie.

I liked it, but the air strike scene repeted itself and the VC sounded like Mickey Mouse. Other than that it was Pretty Good. Overaal Thoroughly Enjoyable!

Somehow I found the idea of seeing the old man on that rocking chair, then a much younger version of him remind me of the obvious truth that older people were once young. I have to say it's very hard to imagine a young version of your grandmother or grandfather. I thought the voiceovers were great with the accents adding but seemed to lower in quality towards the end, and I thought the dialogue used was realistic for the time, although being honest I know little about Vietnam. I like the way some of it is told as a monologued story, but cuts out in places so the characters can interact. In occasional scene's sound effects needed adding, such as the firefight, then a man flying into the air after an explosion but the gunfire cuts out. It would be a good idea to add the firing sound effects for scenes that have none if their still in the middle of a firefight.

I thought it was pretty good, though the captain's uniform was off, but who cares, it kept me interested, and for that, you get 5 stars.

One of the best war movies I've seen here on TMO. I liked the intro and ending how it tied it together. Good editing for the most part, good VA. Outstanding use of props, etc for jungle scenes.

This was a very well done movie. A very good attempt at depicting the Vietnam War. Good drama and character development. I enjoyed the film.

Critical areas:
Editing: Battle scenes were done very well. You did have one scene repeat itself when he called in for an air strike. The techno style music did not fit in the jungle scene. The high pitched VO for the Vietnamese soldiers and the US soldier definitely did not fit.
Pacing: The above did detract a little and I felt myself losing interest as well.

Overall: It was a good movie. Custom music is nice to have but try and fit the music with the period and feel. If you don't have a good voice that fits - it is probably better to just subtitle that character or narrate instead.

I would have given this 5*....but the Vit con VO's were strange....sorry.

02 REVIEW

Well first off congrats to being the first one to recieve a review from the 02PARSIM Review Thread. Well i warned i was gonna be more critical so i felt this was a good place to start for my new style of reviewing. This was a very good movie. In fact i was debating on giving this a five instead of a four, bu eventually i have had to give it a four. First off let me deal with the good points. The plot was extremely good and captivating, the dialogue used was also very interesting and added to the atmosphere. I also really liked seeing the way you laid out props on the sets, it was cool and gave it the jungle feel to it. I also loved the opening stills introducing us to the characters.

But, your major problem is that u tell a gr8 story but take a little too long doing so. The movie is overlong, towards the end it gets a case of "get on with it". This is a terrible shame cos up untl this point i was really, enjoying it. The way u handled the action sequences was brilliant and the actual ending was brilliant as well. But it was the lead up to it that get a bit annoying. But still take it from me that this is a pretty high four star and is definately just below the borderline for the five star. A very good Vietnam movie with a few flaws preventing it from greatness.

A good idea although could have been fitted into a 5 or 6 minute movie instead of 8 minutes. The story was good, although a little cliche and the action sequences were well put together. The voiceovers were well done and made it easy to distinguish between the different characters.
The main problem with this movie is that there was a lot of action in the middle with no real meaning to it. This action sequence took up quite a while and could have been easily condensed without losing any of its effectiveness.
Apart from that and the high pitched voice over this is a great movie. 4 stars!

First off, I would definitely reccommend anybody to see this movie because it is done very well. The action scenes are well-placed. The storyline goes true. The editing was great. But it was the cinematography that really got me. This was really a direction driven movie.

Second off, the ending really wasn't that great. That was the big downfall of the movie. The story leading up to the end really was something, but the ending just kind of dropped off into nothingness leaving me with more of a "wait, what?" thought than a "wow, I really want to see this again". I know it's a minor problem, but it's a noticeable one. Just my thoughts.

Other than that, a phenomenal movie you have here. Loved the sets, loved the story, and loved the atmosphere.

Well told war story with mostly great VOs (only the Vietnamese sounded a bit strange). The set dressing was fabolous! Liked it quite a lot! A good, solid 4 star movie!

Good story with a nice mix of characters you actually made the effort to voice with different personalities. The fire fight went on for much too long. And I'm talking psychological time, not the number of seconds. More creative editing could have added to the intensity of the action. Sound effects would have helped, too. Getting good action out of this game requires more work than the other genres. Good film. Frickin' 'Nam, man.

a sad and emotional movie. you have a knack for great storytelling. it was well-written and well-executed.
ione problem i found was tht in the middle of such serious movie, you made the Viet Cong's voice so high and comical.
other than that, an amazing movie.

Good flick! I like the way you introduced the story and didn't forget about it in the end. It showed the price of war without being political, which I haven't seen so far on TMO. I look forward to checking out your other movies.

A few technical problems aside. I would have liked it if you could have researched the vietnamese for your lines instead of the squeeky voice. Tighter editing was good, costumes were mostly correct but military proticol was not. Solid movie none the less.
