Film Description
HOT PICKED! 1st Place in the 96-hour Guerilla Competition (V2)

After half a century, a man's chance encounter with a lady from his youth recalls memories of a lifetime ago. Is there yet hope for a fresh beginning, or have the words of the past forever fixed their course?

---
This movie features an original poem written by yours truly specifically for the competition, overlaid on a poignant visual story and backed by a beautiful classical score.

Although the visual story does depict the story described above, this movie was intended as much more than that. Rather than making another sappy romance, it is a reflection on life and the paths we take as we progress through it. There are multiple themes woven through the words and the visuals, ultimately coming together at the end. I hope that you enjoy this movie, poem, movie-poem.

If you like this movie, be sure to check out "Hope and Consequence" and "Crossing the Bar" on my studio page.

Absolutely heartbreaking, melancholy, ripe with a sublime beauty that transcends the boundaries of any cinematic medium; this is moviemaking at its purest and most poetic. I am still wiping the tears out of my eyes. I love this movie so much.

Rarely does one stumble across something filled with such a sublime beauty, such a delicate balance between pathos and tragedy. Here, we see the years roll by, flitting past these characters intersecting at the moments human beings take for granted; we live through every passing year where these two people are stranded in the sea of their youth, divided, unloved, disconnected. Your poem is an eloquent reminder to seize those moments.

And that poem! How lovely it is! The Tennyson influence is evident in this one -- full of star-shattering brilliance and ethereal charm.

This film has touched me like few movies do. You have earned your five stars and then some.

What a wonderful poem, and a great production too. Loved the words, very significant towards the subject matter, and the music settled the feelings arised. The way you put this into perspective was just a touch of nature. You managed to put your own thoughts in this one, and the compassion really drove itself within the audiences heart.

The true feelings of one's life is meant to be, and this poem and story just portrayed the importance of human nature. It was such a well constructed beautiful peace, which i am sure will touch everyone in some way. The tone of the voice was subtle, and did have a nice impact towars the mood. I was left light-hearted watching this, and the aesthetics of love and sensitivity was a big moment in this performance. Great sequence of shots, and all together, was just a wonderful crafted poem. Thoughtful concept..

Nicely written and nicely portrayed. Brought back memories of things from my past 30 years ago when I was in high school.

Great job on the poem. It captured what I am sure is what allot of us encountered or will encounter in our lives.

To Give you anything less than a five would be a crime.Thank you for that.I'll be sure kids watch that.It happens to be one of my favorite sayings.the way you get along in life has a great deal in how many times you can eliminate those three little words.

I am not really a fan of Rhyming poetry because if it is not done well it sounds sugary sweet and has no real meat to it.
But this one portrayed depth and sorrow so well you didn??t even realize it rhymed
I think the hardest obstacle is matching scenes to the words and at times you did that very well but at other times they did not connect as well. Now that is if you are looking for a connection from scene to scene.

I was not, I was looking for overall mood of both and if I may be so bold as to assume that was your intent.
I think the marriage of verse and movie was a success here

It was good, A very moving poem that actually meant something and the contrast between the old and young was good and the regrets he'd had and could change.

One small complaint, I think you relied on the poem abit too much, at the start there wasn't alot happening and there could of been scenes where you didn't need the poem and it could of been silent for more effect...But overall inspiring!

No other movie on TMO moved me like this film did. We all have regrets about the things we should have done in our lives, and this movie spoke to those regrets in a powerful way. The music fit perfectly and was very touching....Ill just end this by saying this really got me in a big way,and amy movie that can move me like that deserves the highest rating possible.

This was 4-stars due to boring acting until I saw that this was an original poem.

This is a terrific film as a result - the visuals are excellent and perfectly compliment the words. Rosewynde provides a superb accompaniment in the music.

As I said, the delivery of the lines was a bit bland - but this is an original piece of poetry. And a superb piece of work it is.

So - a terrific film.

Fantastic. Simply one of the greatest movies on The Movies Online to date.
The music fit the nostalgic and romantic feel of the movie well, and the narration was crystal clear.
The poetry was well spoken, and was well accompanied with subtitles. The poem had a brilliant rhythm and combined with the music, made an excellent accompaniment.
The special effects were seamless, and the editing was brilliant, especially in one scene in the bar where it goes from the past to the present.
Also, I love a happy ending. :)

I don't think there's much more to say than Well done. This film deserved a Hot Pick and deserved to win that competition.

You can either make good or bad choices, and this man chose the wrong. Just like I have before, and i know everyone has done. A great movie, and the poem is so beautiful. FANTASTIC MOVIE!

This was amazing, not only the wonderful poem you wrote, but also the film you visualized it to. They blended together bringing to this viewer a story that lifted off the screen and embraced me. Those three demons you speak of has haunted a lot of people, I know I??ve said them a million times, and also, played the blame game. Upon the closing of this poem, your words spoke the loudest, ??The choices are your own.?? This was such a wonderful, beautiful poem!!

Technically, I think you did a fantastic job, the use of flashbacks to show the characters walk through life was nicely shown. The Voice Over and music set the perfect mood. Editing and scene selection all great.
5 stars all the way!!

Impeccable. Heart-touching. Beautiful. The sequences, the pace, the feelings that are clearly visible in every moment of the movie. We can see and touch the feelings of the characters, in their youth, in their matureness.
This is a demosntration that a good storyteller can use any instrument, like a game as The Movies, to tell a good, vibrant, touching story.
Definitively, a 5-star... even more.

I just wasn't feeling the vibe of this poem. It did not seem to need to be put to film. The poem would of been good in itself but the film vibe around made it seem like a last minute throw together for a film. Even if you only have 96 hours this seemed rushed.

Many attempts at a heart-warming film fall short, but this one goes the extra mile. A story delivered via a poem is appropriate for this modern fable because this truly is a work of art in both words and imagery. I only had one problem (which required me to rewind and rewatch), and that was the lost love lady was seated with another man at the diner. With the narration for that scene I thought he was looking at another young couple, which reminds him or his own lost opportunity. And then the younger man disappeared from the rest of the film. Perhaps it might have been better to simply have her seated alone by herself? Or later introduce the younger man as he nephew, etc.. It's just a minor observation in what is a masterful piece--a very worthy Hot Pick and contest winner. Congratulations, and thank you for sharing your vision.

Very good poem, and a good selection of words. A poetic story told very well using a good selection of scenes. The music set the mood very well, but the voice overs brang it down a bit. The "not so emotional" voice didn't fit to the poem and the feeling. Unfortunately that brings the points down a bit, but the best parts of the movie regain back the points. Very touching, and well constructed. A diamond in the poetic movies.

And the poem was beatufully illustrated, and fit the movie perfectly. A movie that is well worth watching, and will not leave you unamused.

46/50 points = 5 stars. Good work!

I have just bookmarked the second film on my studio page. This is it.

First off, the originality shown in useing the phonetic theme to create this entry, instead of a simple monster movie, is astounding. Bravo!

The poem is wrenching and superb writing. The subtitles went along with the VO.s perfectly and the VO's themselves were flawless. I actually found myself being drawn away from the visuals by the subtitles. I'd love to see this movie without them maybe?

Superb filmaking! The right people seem to be getting this game!

Script 5/3, Original, well written and gripping.
Music 3/3, More original content, I love it!
Editing 3/3, Smooth editing and great use of scenes.
Production value 3/3, Custom backdrops and well dressed sets.
Interest 3/3, I bookmarked it, that says it all right there.

Can you give more than 5 stars? Standing ovation awesome! thanks!

This movie has just won the first ever mnkeeboy "Peel of Approval" award!

Apart from the poem it was a nice movie. By trying to understand the poem I was not really paying attention to the actual footage. And after a while I came to the conclusion that I didn't like the poem very much, so that made the movie 'bad' in comparison. But to put one of your own worksin a movie and share it with us was rather brave, so kudos to you.

As soon as I saw the genre of romance and the title those three words which I thought would translate into something like "I love you" I thought this was going to be a love poem. But that was only a small part of the much more complex story of life, the music was so mellow but it worked well with most of the dialogue, although sometimes there was an occasional word which seemed an odd choice to me, doth? Editing and choice of scenes was fair, I think you did a good job on creating it on screen, plus I've rarely seen any poems on the site, maybe it's an aquired taste. The one thing I didn't really like was the voiceover though, I couldn't really explain it, just didn't seem to suit the character, you know that feeling when you have a voiceover playing a part and you can't imagine any other person playing it, I just didn't feel that here.

It's interesting, it's unique, it's thoughtful, great job!

Another good "spoken words captured in visual essence" movie presented by KOS Productions. This original poem is truly inspired by your favorite poet that you used in "Crossing the Bar." Impressive poem. Excellent use of background music. You have taken the leap into this creative area with your use of poetry and visions. Another good translation to pictures.

Absolutely excellent! Bittersweet and heartrending, yet with a bit of happiness at the end. The combination of visuals and poem create a compelling emotional mood.

- KirinRiotCrash

I really don't have much to say about it except that it's rather poetic and touching. I did like how you used two different bar sets to represent the coming of age for the lead roles. I thought that was good.

The only thing that really annoyed me about this one would be the big FraasMovies logo on the blinds ... but hey! I guess it's not your fault for that.

For a short poetic movie, I thought the editing was good and so was the VO. But like any movie, I kind of wished there was conversation between characters somewhere in the film ... even if it is a poem recital.

Overall, I think it's a nice film that deserves some recognition.

4.6 -- Bronze
4.8 -- With the Guerilla Curve (I know you didn't spend a lot of time in this movie because of the competition ... because of that, Perfection is pretty much disregarded in my internal scoring.)

Subtle in every way. A beautiful poem which has this sensational warmth to it.
This is a hard one to review purely because its more like a visual poem than a film but here goes anyway.

Plot Structure and Orignality:
There wasn't much of a "movie plot" to it but i am not going to mark you down for this as it really was very well structured around the base of the poem. The use of a poem has been seen on TMO but still is quite an original concept.
17/20

Editing and Music:
First class editing with a beautiful flow. Must add that i loved the new bar set. The music was a perfect accompianment - soothing and slow.
20/20

Dialogue and VO:
Fantastic dialogue, brilliantly written poem. The VO were adaquete but i wouldn't say breathtaking. They worked well enough but needed a little more emotion.
7/10

Total 44/50 = 88%

Fantastic poem. Well done Kos!!

Original and enjoyable, great soundtrack and premise, good VO and editing.
The script (poem) was a fair piece of work and a good theme, but I found the sudden intrusion of the "whence" and "doth" and "twixt" etc. to be jarring and anachronistic after the earlier stanza's and in the context of the movie's modern setting.
Nice piece of work and good to see the 'verbals' of a movie getting consideration on a par with the look of the movie.
Good movie, just needed to show there was something a little more 'painful' to the guys story than missing out on a girlfriend one time.
Good movie.

Very enjoyable movie poem. I'm a big fan of the poetry movement on TMO..and this is a good example of what can be accomplished with an original poem, a bit of creativity, and appropriate music.

Great poem with a wonderful movie to accompany it.
Kos, you have a real talent for words and pictures there.
Nicely edited, inspired choice of music and a brilliant poem with a very truthful message to us all about the paths we take and the choices we make.
Great work.

Wonderful... I'm not the best fan of poesy, but this movie, the poem, the voice, and the music fitted exceptionally well! Gratz!

What can I say Kos? I love your last two films, their just great artsy films. You said you said you wrote the poem yourself? This awesome, you have to be the best director of this type on TMO. The emotion of the poem and the visuals in the background compliment each other extremely well and reflect the feeling of regret so very well.

Great Job. Keep the poems coming.

Great music, really went well with the poem. Loved the flashbacks, first time I've seen them used! The poem was great, worded very well! And you really captured it in the scenes you used. Well done!

Beautiful, extremely well observed and well written poem. The portral on screen flowed effortlessly and acturalty visualized the poem but the poem was the main element. It was wrote with wit, insight and artistic skill.

Thanks for the review of the christian and the muslim. i'll take that into account for future releases.

Very nicely done, great music and well put together. The actions were repetitious to keep with the long poem which made the visuals a bit tedious to watch, the ending put it together and this is great from the concept it came from the woods.
