NOTE:
This is the FIRST half of Murphy City Part II.

Murphy City Part I is still available in KirinRiotCrash's sister-studio:

NOTE 2: The reason why the movie is split in two pieces is because my computer keeps crashing every time I try to export a 23 minute movie. The only way around it, at the moment, was to break it in two ... hopefully, my next 23 minute movie will not be like that ... Sorry about that.

After watching both parts and/or reviewing the movie, feel free to read the DevLog in how MC Part II was made:

The Murphy City series continues... KRC continues to have a well scripted movie, with funny and intriguing dialogue. I am as interested in the characters as I am the plot. The character development in this series is phenomenal. In this episode we are introduced to 3 new characters - The Ninja Mastermind, The Librarian, and The mayor. Excellent work by your voice actors as well. The customizations are fabulous and perfect for your surreal tale. I loved the use of the computer with "Google". The musical compositions continue to enthrall and the diversity of culture placed in the movie also makes it a joy to watch. Highly entertaining, very well crafted work.

.... that being said .... The characters in this movie stood out more than the story - which utilized a very simple theme - a trip to the library for research. This is the problem when doing a long series is you have a background informational episode or two which may not have as strong stand alone strength as others in the series.

What an elaborate story! Surreal (obviously) and fascinating! Even better than MC I.
Funny that Murphy City does remind me of TMO.

Minor complaints (as I always try to find some): None.

I am off to the next.

From Critic's Corner hosts Jeremiah and Dr. Googlestien
Opening Statement:
May we say this is the best series on TMO right now mark our words. This is a classic with great action. We really like the mix of city life in with culture and you've got some great characters that stand out in this movie. Great cast and funny catchy lines. Like the reference for the geek of working for the WWE or Apple. This was a strong entry in the series and fantastic elements we're brought into this movie. Didn't see that ending coming no doubt. This was really one of the best action movies we've seen since Penetration from Throwaxe, but that movie didn't have too much of a storyline. Like the whole theme with it too.

Requirements:
This movie had everything from great music and custom titles. All the mod work was fantastic and it's amazing KRC how you're able to pull off the special F/X in this movie especially the portal. The gun shot scenes we're great right down to the amazing scripts and storyline work. VOs we're very top notch and it's great to hear Kai Pan's Cantonese language in any film. The custom music was great, glad you didn't use the default music in The Movies. The creativity in this picture was cut very clean and seperated itself from other films. Great title card graphics also. MCII definently passed with an A+ in the requirements zone.

Award/Stars:
Five Star Golden Performance
An achievement everyone wants from Critic's Corner

Closing:
KRC we like how you throw the war theme and Japanessee things into your movies it makes for a better experience and Murphy City was a great mix and had a great ender. KRC you showed with alot of hard work how a movie can come out as good and to make Part 2 better than Part 1 is a hell of an achievement on your part. Always stick to your best strength and that's using culture and visual effects for a complete experience. We're big fans of this series and we can't wait to see Part 3.

I loved how you recapped the first part of Murphy City. Very well illustrated in portraying the characters in this context and a very influencing technique of their background to start this edition off very strongly.

The story was a detailed one, the development had a lot of strength which engaged me the whole way. Even though this is just half of the second series, it did plenty to show. You were very persuasive with the events and the journey that was followed, with some great use of stylistic elements depicted to make the outcome very substantial. The ninja scene, library scene were all fantastically illustrated, and had good elements of humor here and then. Structure was at its best and loved how you worked your magic on the concept. Each scene had significance to the story line.

One thing that I really liked about this film was the characters. Each distinctive in their own attributes, and gave an impact towards the story flow and the journey. Voice-overs very powerful to each, a superior choice of cast! The Japanese girl ninja also played a big role, and I would expect to see her later on in the story.

Custom effects also contributed superbly. The library set was very distinctive, and the way you manipulated the backdrops between each shots was also very effective. And the editing was amazing. Very strong here. The car crash scene was very believable and there were many others that I found very appealing.

But when I look at this film I get the immediate reaction of the classic journey film. The protagonist well described in his aim of reaching to Murphy City, uses the help from fellow associates which all give this performance a special vibe in teamwork. A very creative mind you have, and your filmmaking skills is quite distinct to everyone else. A Great story so far, time really flied, and didn??t realise how engaging it was. The ending left me hanging, so that means I??m going to have to watch the second installment of this chapter right now.

Yeah, you nailed it. It started a little slow, what with all the prologue and scene re-setting you had to do, but soon the meat was on the plate and it did not disappoint. Great characters and dialogue exchanges keep the interest and this is aided by excellent VO acting from all concerned. What really lifted this for me was the humour, much more prevalent than in the first part it really added a new dimension to the story. I watched with a big smile on my face. In some places (the library and the Mayor) the edits and transitions seemed a little abrupt, but as this was not the case in general I think that may have been on purpose, to achieve a dislocated unreal feel that emphasised the 'unreality' of their location. Even if it was not the intention you can run with that if you like ;)
Really enjoyable, damn fine movie.

The highly anticipated release for Murphy City Part Two has not failed us at all. A smooth movie all around, good subtitles and Top notch Voice-overs. Great voice acting aided this movie, so did the custom sets. Great directing, and an extremely solid script. This movie will easily live on as one of the best continuations that has completely surpassed its predecessor. A WCP Must-see movie. May we congratulate you on your Second Five Star Performance.
Legendary movie.

Whee, a new Murphy City, what a wonderful surprise! I loved the first one, and this one continues the high quality. I especially love the careful writing and voice work. The voices are great not just in themselves, but because they perfectly fit the characters' unique personalities, and both fit the fun, strange, loopy setting of Murphy City.

Great choices of set dressing and "special effects," all of which support the story, and aren't just there to show off cool stuff.

But... there's Arya Stirling, a favorite character who reminds me of my own Ashley Porter... and she's fighting with the Librarian who has the *voice* of Ashley Porter! How can I ever decide??!?

did someone say "#1 on the charts?"
i couldn't believe my eyes when watching this. was it really over 9 minutes?!
the story continues perfectly, as we find out more about this strange city. the plot was amazing, one of the best i've seen.
the special effects were mind-blowing, i loved how you used scenes for different purposes than they were originally intended.
the characters devloped more, and i felt like i really knew them.
i loved the retextured library, i know you've been working hard on it.
overall, you have showed an immense talent for all aspects of moviemaking.
i'm off to watch part two...

Great sequel to the first part! The storyplot keeps up its originality and the whole custom staff and music are just brilliant. The voice overs are also some of the finest I hear in a movie.
Story 5/5
Editing 5/5

A clearly 5 star rating from me for dash 1! Great piece of Entertainment!

Exceptional dialogue really drives this storyline. I was drawn in to the story and even had a few moments of comedy. I loved when the guy ran out of the library And quiet in the Library I'm trying to study.

Personally I find subtitles distracting, but I see why you included them, so no foul. With the Fantastic visuals and Creative edits, I think you've created something special here. Congrats KRC

What can I say? This was a really great part in the Murphy Series. I especially liked the library scene with the argument between the librarian and stirling. That cracked me up. You created such a weird world with such odd ball characters. The scene combination at the rooftop and Azure falling was extremely well executed. The animation mystified the movie. The custom credits were smooth and amazingly done. Well Done!

This movie is absolutely fantastic. I'm not a big fan of most TMO comedy, but this one has everything that tickles my funny bone -- witty dialogue, clean humor, clever spoofs and oblique references to other movies, and easter eggs. The voices crack me up, especially the deadpan way that the main character speaks amongst all the craziness.

If there is room for improvement it is in the editing, where some of the scenes (especially the action sequences) have jumpy editing between cuts and actors teleporting around. The same can be said for some of the conversation scenes and the door transition scenes. A few of the subs didn't match the VO's but nothing major. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that the horses are just part of Murphy City's charm.

Together with the original storyline and witty dialogue, this movie has excellent use of special effects and clever scene selection. It is a superb example of a great story, liberally sprinkled with dollops of good humour, and served with a sidedish of class.

An interesting story with some truely unique characters. I love the characters in this movie are very three dimensional and they dont follow the typical "cookie cutter" style. Add in some mighty fine directing and adequate voice overs and you a have a terrific movie that easily deserves 5 stars. On to dash2!

Some great characters each with their own unique persona's help make this is a captivating and well thought out story so far. The strength of this is that I am drawn into the story and want to discover and uncover all the intrigue regarding the evil ninja mastermind. This script is rare, I don't often come across movies this well written. I will be back for part 2 over the forthcoming weekend.

I find reviews for really good movies hard to write, as there isn't a lot you can say that hasn't already been said, and there are only so many ways in which you can say you like something.
Let's just say I was very very impressed by this, the story was highly original, the dialogue was funny and very well written, the vo's were awesome. As this is basically what everyone else has said, I'm not being very original am I? ;-)

Wow! I like how you you portrayed each character. They feel different, they act different, thats always a good thing. The voice actors seemed to have a fun time with this, I knew that voice from anywhere (The Fair Mayor), that being Fodoog lol. The story was worked out well using all of the necessary information to create an immersive tale about a bunch of weirdos in a mysterious quest to find out what Murphy City is, you really pulled through with this Kirin, awesome job in this department. The custom music was definitely a + as usual for me. The editing was well done and the custom graphics were a nice touch.I was very entertained, I'm off now to check out dash 2

Just need to state first that this genre is certainly not my preferred type of films (I didn't like Alice in Wonderland either, nor was I thrilled about Narnia), thus the lower rating. I did, however, LOVE the Matrix, and even the 13th Floor. The distinction I would make is the degree of bizarreness in the films. In this film, like Wonderland, the randomness was extreme (the instant destruction and reconstruction of the city as one example) and as a result I did not worry about the fate of the characters even in shootouts or whatever since the filmmaker could easily resurrect them or do anything else he desired. This is, of course, only my own personal preference, but since this is my review I am just being forthright in expressing my opinion. I normally would rate this a 3 as an average film (but the sheer amount of effort compelled me to watch the film through, and thus the extra star). Though I am not a fan of your vision, I commend you on its execution. The voice performances were especially delightful and convincing. The sheer amount of work involved in such a long production is of and by itself deserving of a visit, and I'm glad I dropped by so at least I know what everyone is talking about when they keep referring to your films.

*** MoMC Review ***

Throughout the years, great names of movies have gone down in history, that conveyed an incredible world of fantasy and disaster, and have shown creative innovation, showing that everyone involved worked to the furthest of their abilities, and put their best effort into it. Movies such as "The Terminator", "The Matrix", "Lord of the Rings"... and "Murphy City".

This sequel to the hot-pick'd wonder of a movie is only incredible in so many ways. First of all, it has a truly a wonderful and fantastic storyline. A Japanese writer, Han Jin-Il, crashes his plane in what's supposed to be the Pacific Ocean, but is apparently a mysterious city filled with Uzi-wielding NINJAS!

The voicework was phenomenal. Azuresama, FoDoog and Myshinator, especially, are perfectly casted in their parts. They brought out true character, and made you feel the part, making this nothing but a movie worthy of the same hot-pick its predecessor received. And the choice of music made it even more.

I believe that it was wise not to upload a 23 minute movie. From personal experience (my movie "Black Glove"), movies over 15 minutes aren't viewed as often. So, it was a wise-decision to split them up into two ten-minute movies.

Plot - 10.0
Originality - 10.0
Music/Sound Engineering - 10.0
Voices - 10.0
Delivery - 10.0

Overall - 5.0

If you like movies that you can find perfect in absolutely every way... this movie might be too good for you.

Certainly, the Force is with you...

Alice in Wonderland meets the Matrix. No, wait, the Matrix was Alice in Wonderland, updated. What was this? Hard to say.

But was it entertaining?

Yes, I'd have to say, but I couldn't tell you why. All the production values were there, no doubt - smooth effects, clear and well delivered VOs, superb editing. The character creation, something often overlooked in TMO, was unique and refreshing, with a diverse pallatte that was, if not completely integrated, quite colourful. The recruitment of well known voices added greatly to the film, in once sense because the film being so odd the voices gave a sense of stability, perhaps even a gateway "in."

Smooth and well crafted, this film should be seen. Opinions will obviously differ on this one, but it certainly deserves a place among memorable TMO releases.

My score - 4.1. Some detractions include failed attempts at humour, repetition of script (particularly by the SEAL) and not enough tease as to where the hell we are. No, I don't want answers, but I'd like a hint. Still, a solid film, for those of you that still remember that 4 is a good score.

Murphy City part 2 was really rough going for me. I appreciate that there's an enormous amount of effort gone into making this, but I can't really say that I liked it.

The voice over was excellent throughout and the script was fair to good, but painfully slow. I didn't feel at any point, including when guns were going off everywhere, that there was a sense of urgency to anyone's actions. Even in a world which is deliberately surreal, I think Ninjas with machine guns should elicit some sense of danger from those who oppose them and that wasn't evident either.

The custom sets, especially the egyptian library, were beautiful.

All things considered, while it is clearly a well-made film, its art-house, Twin Peaks-esque nature means that I probably would never recommend anyone to take the 20-something minutes to watch it.

Don't mean to bring your score down or nothin' but honestly this is what I rate it. The editing was good, the VO quality was good, and the music was well done. I well put together film. Your downfall, in my opinion, was the lines you gave your characters wereweak and corny at times. It seemed all the characters kept the same emotion and the lines were just....not....good. Don't mean to be too critical but this just how I saw it. That took off 1 star. The second star off was for the plot. I mean, it was alright but defineately didn't grabme. At times I thought to myself "how are they there now?" and stuff like that. Sorry for likely lowering your score but this is how I felt about your film.

One of the most imaginative and well told series to be found on TMO. With its unique mix of bizarre, an odd brand of humor and a strange array of unlikely characters, Murphy City 2 -dash-1 marches along and expands upon the already excellent Part 1.

As Han Jin-Il so eloquently and repeatedly puts it - this is darn "fascinating!".

Whats not to like seriously if you know tell me. I don't think I downloaded part 1 ut I'm gonna start collecting this series.

The voice acting is pretty good, and each characters voice fits them well.
The librarian is one of the most dysfunctional and hillarious characters I have ever seen outside of a James_Diaz film.

This episode adds a .Hack feel to the story but sheds light on the oddness of murphy city. It starts to answer questions but raisesmore, which is themark of a good story. This would make a great OAV series, if it were to be ever animated.

For starters thanks for explaning what happened previously before offically starting the movie, most people just stick it in their movie descrption and leave us to figure the rest out. As far as movies go this one was just freakin weird. It wasn't just the main characters, I got the feeling the entire world was mad, so this definatly should get my classic warning of "may cause brain damage" Because of this and other aspects I found the world created very a unique and interesting enviroment. The music was great too, i've been trying to think what this reminds me of but i've lost it.

It's a brilliant movie, I still feel some things could have been improved such as a touch of editing and dialogue. Most of the voiceovers I liked and brought out the characters even more and I think you did a very good job of keeping everyones voice volume on the same level.

This is what a movie should be!

The editing was better than anything i've seen yet on TMO. custom effects were used very well, they weren't over done, but were very effective. and the custom scenes and props were just unbelievable.

i can't find a flaw in this. period.

A weird start to the second part of the first dash to Murphy City (if that makes any sense, lol) but an excellent one nonetheless! I thought the shooting in the library was abit OTT but the script is as always interesting to watch and I look forward to the second dash....hope its going somewhere even more strange!

First off, I love the VOs in this. The story is still great and was really added to by the Mayor's part. The things I didn't like was the shooting in the library which just seemed like too much or that it was just thrown in. I also would have rather seen the talking with the mayor without them sitting down in the middle of it. It is just hard to give 5 stars for a trip to the libarary. I expect much more in the next part, which I am off to see now. This is still some really great work.

originality 8/10 the ninja costumes looked strange and out of place at times, but other than that the idea and concept shows as something i am impressed to have viewed
diolouge 10/10 not just a great cast, but flawless execution on emotion, and a different language is always a plus
sound 8/10 i didn't pick up on music, in some parts, other parts it thouroughly added to the feeling and depth of the film, but those silent moments are always awkward
editing 10/10 clear from the opening, as well as good prop placement, you spend much time with this film and it shows through every frame
PawPrint Factor 10/10 nice film, not bogged down by its mods, its music may lay dormant in some parts to give the excellent VO's room to shine, but through the fascade of greatness lies a beautiful script overall

46/50 -pawprint- not only because i think this movie deserves it, but becasue going so long with 5 stars is an accomplishment worth reconizing...a movie recommended to me by many friends and Golden Age Studios staff workers, it is clear why...

This is a great movie, well acted and the story is crazy if not confusing. The Vo's were outstanding and the music fit really well with what was going on in the movie.

I have hope that the story will be cleared up a little bit more in the part.

Part two is just as amazing as the second - but this time, with some added comedy.

I love it - love it. This series is the best thing i've ever seen on TMO so far. The two questions have been answered in this one, How he got there, and what the strange place is; but another few arise. Who is this mayor? How did he get these god-like powers? And, what will the librarian do to get revenge? Will she join the Ninjas?

Everything about this movie was well done; the voices were amazing, the editing was top notch. And you even added some humour! I absolutly devour humour in movies. The fight between the two women over the library card was so funny I actually laughed-out-loud. The awakening of the "Raincoat man" was hillarious too.
I also enjoyed the computer screens, they were very well done too. I also like how you had the destroyed city and changed it back again, it was all very well done.
The voice-overs were very very well done, great work from everyone on your cast. Again, they fitted the characters really well.
The music you chose was great too. It fitted with the enviroment and the current scenes taking place.
Overall - I totally enjoyed this movie, it was as well done as the first - if not better. Great work KirinRiotCrash. 5 stars.

Intresting story, very well thought out world, sequeals are built into to it. A lot of questions asked, not all of them are answered. The characters are all very intresting, and have very unique names too. The editing is sharp, and dosen't have much dead time in it. This is a unique movie, you get wrapped up into its world, you get anticipated for what will happen next. In a way, this movie reminds me of RPG's, becuase of how the weird plot, and diversity comes into play. Good voiceovers too, the team really came together. Very enjoyable movie, 9 minutes flew by...

I want to give this a detailed review -- and yet, nonetheless, I am too lazy to paste and copy the same review on two films. So I'll just give you a five star for the first part and give you more details on dash two.

I'll just say that this is an hyperbolically surreal story, acting on the promises of the first part amplified by a few thousand. This is sharp, sophisticated storytelling. But we'll discuss this later.

Here we go again?????

I have been waiting this for some time and this part has past my expectations. Yet again the crazy and weird story continues although we are now establishing the story more and understanding what is going on in Murphy City.
The VO yet again ran this film, I loved every single one as much as I did in the first part. As the characters unfold through brilliant editing and dialougue I become more intriqued in the series!
The simple but nice special effects was the icing on the cake.

Bring on Dash 2!

the special effects were mind-blowing, i loved how you used scenes for different purposes than they were originally intended.
the characters devloped more, and i felt like i really knew them.

Editing : 2/3 - Good overall. You missed a horse in the background of one of the scenes(Just after the car crash) and a few other scenes could have used a bit of work to make it a bit smoother.(Shoot out, and the entering the library)
Dialogue : 3/3 - Good Voice overs.
Plot :4/4 - Good plot. has some depth and interesting characters.
Scene/Prop use : 3/3 - Nice use of scenes and props. Some excellent custom content.
Entertainment : 5/5 - A very entertaining film. Moved along well and kept me attentive.
