0205 REVIEW

I honestly do not know why i have waited so long to actually watch this movie. I have delayed it for about a month now and only really managed to force myself to watch it after it popped up on my review thread. I haven't been avoiding it, in fact i was extremely intrigued by it, but i was also preparing myself for a letdown, a fantasy movie on the Movies is very rare, some of the succeed and go on to great success, Arwana's series for example, others make abysmal attempts at it and fall flat on their faces. But this movie, well this movie was simply, well there's not other way to put it really, MAGICAl! This movie was the most fantastical and beautiful creation that i have ever seen on TMO! Everything seemed a labour of love!

So then let me start off as is tradition with all of the stuff that i enjoyed from this movie, well there is a hell of a lot of it. I'll state the obvious then, this is so much beyond that of which other movie makers on here have made. This goes beyong the limitations of the game, you have created a genuine fantasy land and better still you have made it seem believable. It just seemed like the land from Alice and Wonderland, this obviously had the books inspirations all over it. But you have adapted it to become something more, i was never a fan of the original Alcie and Wonderland movie, you have took a similar idea and crafted it into a beautifully told and memorable fantasy flick. The character that you introduce were memorable and extremely original, the custom stuff used to bring them to life made it eve better. While many people would opt to have the style and leave out the substance you had a genuinely caring little story running at the centre. You cared for the character, you wanted to see where she would end up. The VO's worked brilliantly in unison with the amazing dialogue as well, this was just magnificent!

So then was there any bad stuff? Well apart from the fact some of it could be cut to run slightly smoother the movie runs at a perfect length and works wonders. This easiyl deserves to eb Hot Picked, this easiyl deserves to climb the chats, this was just an amazing experiance that i am glad i haev finally got round to watching. It is definately an 02 APPROVED!

From World Critic Productions hosts Prof.Owen and Dr.Davidson
An excellent romance movie, with originality flaring through the screen, and skill of directing and editing extremely evident through this hard work. An excellent movie all around, the first movie to make $57,600,000 in a mere eight days in the box office. Proof of an extremely talented moviemaker. The music and the voice acting made this movie very pleasant to the ears, and all the custom work made this movie eye candy. The almighty okinawa has struck again with this spectacular production, one made with extreme care and hard work. The integrity of the movie added extra points to this great production, a movie that had high expectations, and didn't fail a single expectation. The sheer brilliance with the script writing made this romance one of the most believable flicks made. The plot of the movie was intriguing, and highly detailed, an all around jewel of a movie. The romantic atmosphere really made this movie as shocking and brilliant as it is. You've received our prestigous Five-star golden performance, and this is not only a WCP MUST-SEE, it is a movie that we call legendary.

Take a dash of The Wizard of Oz and add a pinch of Fellini and stir vigorously with a smart new talent and you come up with the brilliant new film by Johnokinawa, The Other Dimension. An original and fresh screenplay is the foundation for this fine film of lessons learned too late on a quest for home. Incredible set design and colors of brilliant hues push this film into a dreamy Technicolor realm worthy of the best cinematography of 20th Century Fox or Metro-Goldywn-Mayer in the golden age of Hollywood. But it goes beyond mere lush beauty of design to create a thought provoking work of art reminiscent of Juliet of the Spirits or Wings of Desire. Deeply emotional and truly magnificent.
The voice acting by the stars of The Other Dimension is of the finest quality and each performer gives a performance that should be remembered when the TMOscars roll around again. Sailornighwing, Postmodernchuck and Mortalitis Infinitus are real standouts in the film. Indeed the fine direction and production itself should also be so honored with a plethora of awards. Wonderful musical choices are added to the film score and carry the emotional strength of the film to the highest levels of fine filmmaking.
Hugely impressive and ambitious this film stands in the company of some of the finest films on TMO. Five hats in the air and the MGM platinum seal of approval.

I thought I found this movie to be rather unique in some ways. You have some unique set of characters with odd personalities. I really like that! It shows a sense of originality. However, it feels a bit like Alice in Wonderland ... only a bit twisted, strange, and bizarre ... ever played "American McGee's Alice"? Well ... your movie is not _that_ bizarre but it sure is different.

Speaking of oddness, you made this world much more different with the use of props and items. The use of them is very heavy and it works well. Not only this strange world has different characters but it also has an odd setting.

Your choice of music is great and it helps develop the mood and atmosphere of this movie. It also develops the characters such as the music for Tai and Shawn.

I really love the dialogue in this movie. It feels driving, and has intense emotion with some strong elevated words to make it move. The VOs and the Audio Effects in a few of them were a nice touch as well. We learn more about this "Breath of Life" as we keep going. It has a sense of Psychology as we get closer to the end.

Overall, I found this movie to be great and I highly recommend watching it!
Great work!

An excellent fantasy, with mesmerizing visuals that nimbly leads its audience into a dreamy world. A memorable journey with an array of interesting characters brought to life by a stellar cast of voice actors. ??The Other Dimension?? contains elements of classic movies that are sure to appeal to the child in all of us.

The author??s imagination and vision shines throughout the movie, and so does his technical skills.

Editing was great, except for the part where the girl says the horse just appeared all of a sudden without any indication of the girl??s surprise or the said horse??s sudden emergence. The switch between the girl??s father and the wolf left the black cats wondering about its meaning.

Writing was smooth and quite adroit. The black cats loved the fantasy aspect of the story more than the overall moral of it. In fact, the black cats are not convinced that the girl makes a perfect case for the message of this movie, as she appeared to be more than an example of an unexamined life -- a case of clinical problem perhaps. The Magician of the East seemed to talk in circles but not say more than your everyday common-man philosophy. This of course in no way diminishes the technical brilliance of this movie. And therefore the black cats have agreed on a rating of FIVE STARS.

This film was amazing! It was touching, compassionate, & tragic in general, which has all correlated to make this wonderful fantasy film. You have manipulated all elements of someone being tormented putting pressure on herself, which in result, learns the true face of life. Just couldn??t believe the amount of work you have put in for the output to be such a gem. The aesthetic qualities you have involved in this production was just eye candy, as I have never seen something with so much sensitivity and artistic elements than this movie. It was just a joy.

The concept was a unique one. Very creative in the mind which you have designed and controlled the stability of this production to be so unique. I loved the customised effects. The sets, characters, props, and other elements just had such a big impact towards the overall response. And towards the character roles, it was just superb to see such a great cast and not all the importance of this concept. The Voice-overs were very clear too, which just gave this performance more drive in its consistency.

Another strength that I particularly liked, was the structure. It just stayed true to its integrity and all the stylistic features were portrayed effectively. And the editing, very clean and precise, which also was an exceptional outcome. Music had a big input, which set the tone perfectly on how the audience was meant to feel.

So as a conclusion, this film was just beautiful in so many ways. It had some real significance on the story, and just magic in how you influenced the audience in becoming so engaged in a performance like this one. The perspective really drew me in to understand the characters point of view, which made this production so successful. Your skills are highly rated, and definitely showed its strengths in fantasy films. Superb effort!

"The Breath Of Life" - That's what this movie is to me. It is a spectacular vision of how someone can become, and it is not uncommon in the world of today. This movie, from the maker of The Lost Child, brings new light into the Fantasy Genre. I wouldn't have expected anything less coming from this director, and he has once again blown me away. I was indulged into a magical adventure, and I felt like I was there, with Julia, trying to find my way home. I can definately see your inspiration for this movie, and if it wasn't I'm sorry, but to me this is one man's re-creation of 'The Wizard of Oz'. I loved that movie, and this one is just like it.

The Music in this film was definately something not to be missed. It helped create the fantastic atmosphere that was present throughout this entire film. The VOs - words cannot describe how they turned out. It was just brilliant, and like you got the cast together and recorded them in one room, all in one conversation. Magnificent!

After seeing The Lost Child, you can't expect there not to be completely 'new' sets in the film, because of the talent you have in recreating them with props. Overall, a very well done film that is technically perfect! *The Breakdown*
Originality: 9/10
Plot/Storyline: 10/10
Editing: 10/10
Subs/VOs: 10/10
WOW ME: 12/10 The coveted all caps WOW ME, very well deserved.
Total: 52/50

This movie would get all the stars in the universe if it were possible to give more than just 5. Great work, this is HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!

Funny, absurd, comic, tragic -- this film slices in many different directions, all with skill, acumen, and grace. This is incredible visionary cinema with a capital "C" -- easily one of the most visually scintillating movies I've seen in recent memory. Set design was sumptuous, the editing crisp, and the mise-en-scene crackling with a mystical, ethereal air. And the writing treads that line between comic and tragic -- the characters will be etched in my mind long after this movie ends. And the scenes with Sean and Julia are pure magic. The ending is cosmically heartbreaking and paradoxically uplifting.

I'm proud to have been a part of this.

I'll start of by stating that I cannot believe this one slipped through my fingers. What a unique and truly beautiful movie that stretches the boundaries of imagination. Your use of visuals and sounds and your fusion of set design created a truly unique setting that I fell into and had me captivated from start to finish. It is a true Fantasy gem on TMO, something that alot of people have tried to do recently, but I would say thanks to directors like you, people can use this as a blueprint for inspiration!

That was really interesting. I kind of could fortell the whole plot as it went along, but it doesn't matter, because i love that kind of plot anyway. Where people imagine other people, forcing them to do stuff.

The music really added to the quality by creating a more imaginative tone. The same images with comedic music would have had this a totally different movie.

Good job, I liked it!

This is a quality film with a message presented in an "Alice in Wonderland/Wizard of Oz" like style. The story and message are both good but some parts of this film stray a bit at times. Never-the-less, you pull it together in a strange way and make your point. The acting in this film is average at best, in my opinion, but solid with a few lines that I would say were weak and could have been better thoughtout. What really drives this feature home is the ending where the film's message is discovered and not a moment too soon. This is a nice piece and I did enjoy taking the time to see it.

The first thing I did was notice the editing, but I quickly realized that you made this movie without the expansion pack, so I quickly changed my mind. For a movie without it, I thought the editing was well constructed and the movie flowed together very nicely.
Throughout the movie, I kept asking myself "The girl doesn't seem very panicked, concerned or scared to have gone to a mysterious place where talking c, has she been to this place before?" But unfortunately, I found myself still asking that question even though the movie had finished. The VO's were all very clear, and most were well acted. The plot was well constructed, and had a nice flow to it. At the beginning, I must admit that I was a little lost, but the story revealed itself nicely. The twist at the end didn't exactly shock me, as I had quite expected something like that to happen.
As the movie had progressed, I noticed a resemblance between this movie and the Wizard of Oz. Is the Magician of the East, the Wicked Witch of the Wests husband?

Overall, this movie delivered a few powerful messages and I must commend you on the fantastic job you did without using the expansion pack. Good job!

Intro: Wow what a crazy movie but very serious indeed. It makes you think differently about your life. I??m very insane so I already thought about ??what if my life wasn??t really happening?? but I??m sure in average Joe doesn??t think about it.

Story/5: It??s a very strange (but serious) story that will have big smokes at the end. As I have said many times before with other movies, the characters where very in-depth and all different. The whole thing is really pro-found, surprising, and well put together when it comes to story telling. Were in the world did this idea come from?

Modding/5: A lot of the weird and unusually things that happen where used by free-props and there was a mod or 2 in the movie. Everything else related to this category was well picked and put together.

Camera/5: This movie was made without S&E so there was no free-cam but they did a pretty good job without it.

Editing/5: The VOs were very life like and the cutting was unnoticed (if there was any).

Conclusion: A truly different style movie with a surprising, happy, and sad ending. All the technical stuff was done well especially the VOs. This is also one of the few movies on TMO that teaches you a serious lesson hopeful you don??t have to learn. I??m glad I was asked to review this movie because I would have miss out on an unusually, exiting, amusing, and mysterious tale.

Total: 5 Stars ((V-Pick))

Pretty good. As always, your movie is technically sound. This story is well developed compared to some of your other films. The problem I had was with the "twist" ending. You can't just say "hey you know you are really dead" and call it a twist.

First I didn't think that this would be a good movie. The thing with the grades and the school and the dad did't seem very inventive and interesting to me. But slowly it startet to get deeper and deeper. Everything what seemed a little bit odd in the beginning, started to fit into the storyconcept. I appreciated the deepness of the story, which was created step by step. There were a lot of brilliant, stunning plottwists in it which kept that movie alive. And then: the characters. Every one of them seemed so detailed and alive to me. It's unbelievable. And also the message in the end. It totally blew me away. Wow.... this is truely a real masterpiece.
It's a shame that I did't see one of your movies before. Now I will watch every one of them. I promise it, because they are worth it!!!

I found this movie to be more Sci-Fi than romance, but I really liked it. I can clearly understand why it got hot picked. Usually I don't like "dreamlike scenarios with weird characters", like the clown and the penguin and stuff, but here on TMO it felt as a nice effect, and it all makes sense. Also, great use of props, and the VO acting was great!

The best thing about this movie is the feeling I get from it. It has some fairy tale-feeling about it that I enjoyed, even though it reminded me a little too much about Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz. Also, a good ending to sum things up!

Owen Inc. Production's Award Review

Opening: Wow! This is a very good movie considering it was made before S&E. I think it started out well and everything. I watched it fullscreen.
Plot: This was a very good plot. I really enjoyed it. It had a nice plot twist, and everything was answered. I had no questions at the end. + star + thumb
Music: Music was perfect. I really think that it moved the story along. It never felt odd or out of place. I enjoyed it. + 1/2 star + 1/2 thumb
Editing: Editing was superb. I can only imagine what you might have done with freecam. This was a movie that didn't move to slow, and scenes fit well. Great job! + star + thumb
VOs: VO's were perfect. i never had to touch the volume control. I could understand everything being said as well. Great job! + 1/2 star + 1/2 thumb
Originality: This did remind me of Alice in Wonderland, but you had such a nice twist to it, that it felt very original. I really enjoyed this movie. + star + thumb
Genre Rating: This wasn't a romance, it was more of a fantasy. i can sort of see why you picked romance, instead of sci fi. I think it was a good desicion, beause it was about loving oneself, and examining oneself. + star + thumb

While I feel this was a good movie with a good message, I do not feel the message it delivered was, in point of fact, the message it was meant to deliver. The story-telling was excellent. The plot was easy to follow, if a little heavy-handed at times.

One problem I had with this movie, however, was the way the charactors attempted to shove the message down the audience's throut. The whole "Breath of Life" thing is a nice touch, but I feel like it was tacked on to allow the use of the car crash. Also, the spirit world did not seem to be at all related to the "moral" of living life to the fullest.

Finally, I think "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" did a better job of showing that if you don't "pick your head and look around from time to time" you will miss life entirely. I don't mean to be preachy, but this movie had so much going for it until the end and it just kill itself.

I gave this a 5-star rating because it was well-made, the voice acting was excellent (when it wasn't popping), the plot was easy to follow, and it was well written. The other issues were more about my enjoyment of the flow of the movie. Overall, though, good work on this.

If I knew what to say, I would say it, but this is just an excellent movie in general. Good work.

A film that's nicely constructed around a central idea of a girl broken of from reality. A generally smooth film with few editing blips and no scene that seem either superfluous or badly chosen. Your voice overs were as good as you would expect from an excellent cast.

But despite the films many, many good points, it simply didn't make me feel anything. I was neither engaged by the girl's desire to get back for a test or surprised to discover that she was already dead. Your message, which in the style of 80's cartoons you have a character simply announce to the camera, is trite and not at all insightful.

All the bells and whistles work, but the machine has no soul.

Really an amasing movie. I had always tried to watch it, but everytime I had the chance of watching it I always found somthing else. I really wish I had not been caught up in another movie everytime because it really blew me away. The messages in it really made you think about your own life in away that wouldn't scare you.

Excellent Movie.

This was fairly well done, but I wasn't really sucked in. The problem with a movie like this is that expectations can be high and I was slightly disappointed. the story was OK, but I found the message a bit patronising, naive and unsatisfactory. The story was a tradegy, but didn't really teach the viewer about life. it is very easy to say, "Live your life to the full." But what does that mean? This movie certainly didn't tell you. It was all about what was wrong, but there was nothing about what she should have done right.

Truly Epic, The sheer amount of work on the production value alone got my 5 stars. A shining example of what people can do with the game when they put in a bit of effort and thought. *****

Welcome all! This is the 6th Ruthless Review! Today I will be looking at ??The Other Dimension?? by Johnokinawa. Here it is:

D I R E C T I N G 11/20

Description ?? Okay I have to say first off great work on prop-placement. This is a movie that shows how good prop-placement can be, if used correctly. You truly created another dimension and made the sets much more unique. There were some parts where the prop-placement could have been better. For example: when Julia was crying and the skull was in front of her face. I guessed that might have meant something, but even if it was there for a good reason it wasn??t very effective and felt more in the way rather than helping the movie forward. There were some other strange props around, but I guess that all worked out in the end to give it more of a ??weird dimension?? feel.

As for scene selection, I think you were trying to stay away from the usual ??talk?? scenes but failed most of the time. The scenes you chose for some moments, I thought, were not such a great choice. Like when the Magician runs to meet Julia, he hands something over to her (money) but you erased the money prop and it looked like she put nothing in her pocket. The funny part was the Magician was talking about nothing related to the animation shown. There were a few of these throughout the film, but I think this one stood out the most.

Sometimes your characters were out of place. In the graveyard when Sean is talking, you do a head close-up, and then you show them leaving the set, but the next scene there is another head close-up of him in the same place. (I will tell you how to work around this just read ahead).

Quality ?? These little mishaps distract the audience from the film, and if all of them were put together, it really becomes a problem; thus, the quality gets hit hard.

Effectiveness ?? Overall this was on the line of average. You were lucky that your film has a great likeability factor that brought the audience back.

Improvement Notes ?? Don??t try and get so tricky with your scene selections just so it looks different. I know this feeling, but if you start to pick ??Give Money Scene?? as a conversation starter then that just seemed desperate. It seems you were trying so hard, and ironically missed what you were going for.

Also watch out for actor placement. If you have dialogue and it is lengthy try and keep it in one place. Don??t move your characters around the set all the time and make it confusing for yourself. The game doesn??t allow you to pick where your actors stand, but you can work around this by planning your dialogue and your scene selection (head close-ups, talk left, talk right, etc) carefully.

E D I T I N G 8/20

Description ?? For the most part I believe your editing was pretty good. However, there were some moments where in the middle of conversation (mostly the important plot-twist ones) there were ??fades?? I couldn??t understand why, and they felt pretty random. I assume they were there for extra dramatisation, but they mostly took away from the whole effect rather than give in.

Other issues were what you allowed to be showed on screen, when really it wasn??t appropriate for the particular shot. For example: when some characters were talking, you didn??t bother timing them with the animations. Sure there was lip-syncing, and those were good, but I would sometimes in the ??walk and talk?? scene the Magician??s hands were moving and he looked like he was talking and Julia was listening, but the VOs were Julia talking and the Magician listening. It was reversed, and this happened many times throughout the film.

Quality ?? This was below average, because nowadays these kinds of mistakes are easily avoidable with editing, and shouldn??t be acceptable.

Effectiveness ?? The many misfortunes this project went through, technically, in PP and AMM really hurt it in the end.

Improvement Notes ?? Time your animations to fit your VOs, this is one of the many reasons editing exists. If a certain character looks like he/she is talking and the camera is focused on them, then Julia??s VO does not fit there. Wait for the animation to move to Julia and then place the VOs and edit the scene accordingly. There are many great people on the forums with amazing editing tricks and tutorials, so that also makes for a great resource that I recommend.

S C R I P T 13/15

Description ?? I actually found this script pretty interesting, it really reminded me of ??The Wizard of Oz?? (I wonder why???) but it really had its own unique feel. The characters (especially the creatures) were very interesting, although I think some of them were pretty useless and really didn??t help the story that much (I won??t name them for various reasons) but overall this film built a good support with the script.

Quality Too bad the execution of the script was not as equal in quality as the script itself. Otherwise this would have been an even more wonderful film.

Creativeness/Originality ?? I can??t say anything against you here. This really was something new and not much people attempt these types of films, because of the difficulty and complexity. Although you ran into these complexities I must say you did pretty well for what you had to work with.

Effectiveness/Flaws ?? The only major flaws were technical and could have been avoided, bringing the script quality down, but as for the script itself, I felt it was fine. The only weaker part of the script was the dialogue. I felt, on some occasions, that the dialogue could have been much better.

Improvement Notes - Don??t worry a lot about the dialogue, because the only way to get better at it is with gaining experience. Just keep writing, and you will soon see it will come to you. This is common with most screenwriters.

I??ll give you a helpful hint. Make a chart for each of your characters and place there physical features, and everything you know about them on the chart. Really dissect them (not-literally) and get to know who they are. If you were to have a conversation with your character or a blind date, what would they say or talk about? I know it is crazy but trust me it helps a lot and makes you a better in writing dialogue.

V O / S U B S 10/15

Description ?? Everything seemed to work fine, except one moment I noticed Julia??s father missed the word ??school?? in his sentence, or it was really quiet compared to the rest of the line. These kinds of technical glitches should always be looked over before implementing them into the final project.

Other than that overall I must say it was pretty good throughout. No major glitches, except for the minor one that I already mentioned.

Casting - *this is a new little addition to the reviewing structure! If you have a cast then this will affect you, if you don??t have a cast then I will rate this area by looking at your characters and see if their appearance fit their roles. Enjoy!*

Now I must admit I am a true fan of Mort, SKW, and Axel ?? They were amazing and I really noticed the others as well. You did very well in picking the right people for the right roles. There was one character that I could have found other better voice actors playing, but it turned out in the end anyways.

Quality ?? The cast really boosts the quality of the film, great work in that department. BUT watch out with those volume levels, because they really boost the quality of the film in the wrong direction: downwards.

Effectiveness ?? It worked mostly for me.

Improvement Notes - Always check the VOs and double check them in Audacity. As for casting; you did good, can you imagine M:i:II without Tom Cruise? No! But also don??t forget about the right way to express the film. I mean a bad movie with a bad script is still bad regardless of who is in it. That??s why you should be-careful.

S P E C I A L _ F X & S O U N D 3/10

Description ?? Not much special FX (well maybe if you count prop-placement) but sound felt pretty ignored throughout the film. I felt, when I saw the thumbnail, that I will be taken to a mystical land, which I was, but there was something missing, and that was some mystical sounds!

Basically what I??m saying is you let the game do this part for you, which is okay, as long as it doesn??t glitch, which it didn??t seem to do. However, it could have had some thought put into it, and helped give an extra ??dimension?? feeling.

Quality ?? The atmospheric experience could have been more improved with this addition.

Effectiveness ?? Still effective, but was open for improvement.

Improvement Notes ?? Check every angle of your films, and put effort in every section. Don??t ignore sections because you feel they don??t apply. Even if they don??t apply, try and show that you at least put some effort into it.

M U S I C 3/10

Description ?? That intro music was really an attention grabber, great work on the choice of music. However, I felt it died down after that. I mean the beginning (title credits) were a really nice touch, but the middle was lacking the same feel, and in the end the repeat of the same song was a bit repetitive. It may have worked on other films, but not this one.

Quality (if custom) ?? I know it wasn??t your music, but it was some great finds there.

Effectiveness ?? It was better in the beginning, lacking in the middle, boring in the end.

Improvement Notes ?? You did well for the start but in the middle it was lacking the same attention it got from me in the beginning. I instantly had this expectation when the film started but you couldn??t hold on to it for long. Make sure to pick similar music, and the only way to truly know if music works is kind of like the skill for writing dialogue; it comes with experience.

There are some great articles on Google that you can search up, talking about mood, and how to set a mood in a motion picture, if you are really interested.

O V E R A L L / T I L T 4/10

Overall Quality/Description ?? The likeability factor was high for this film, but it gradually went down as I kept watching it. This was mainly due to the many minor flaws that brought down the quality of the presentation. What can I say? They all added up.

Last Improvement Notes ?? Watch all the sections of your film and don??t focus on just one. Be a jack of all trades master of none rather than just being good at one thing and failing on everything else.

TILT Factor ?? I was about half and half but ultimately it came down to quality and that??s why I tilted just a little away from this film.

Final Score:
Directing: 11/20
Editing: 8/20
Script: 13/15
VO/Subs: 10/15
Special FX & Sound: 3/10
Music: 3/10
Overall/Tilt: 4/10

Total: 52/100 = 52% = Two Stars (2.5 to be more accurate)

Total Ruthless Ron Points (RR): 48/100

Wiz of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Twilight Zone, These have nothing to hold over this movie. I had a hard time at first, like I do with most of these kinda film, fallowing what was happening. But you used the right music, and effects to keep me want to see what happened next. Now I am not one to be hard, but I need to say that I would have like to see a little better lines. Some of what the actors said sounded a little cheesy. As A Whole I say that this movie will soon Rank as one of my all time favs.

One word..Masterpiece. I wasn??t sure what to expect from the description, and you brought to me nothing that I expected. This dimension, the characters all came to life, creating an overwhelming film. The time, dedication and your talents shine throughout from beginning to end by the execution of perfect scene selection, editing, and creative set dressing. As I ventured with Julia through her twisting and winding journey, I was not aware of where we would end up. The ending totally captivated me. Once again, Masterpiece, well deserving of 5 stars and more.

Imaginative Filmmaking at it's best! This movie is so great! The costumes, sets , and dialogue are excellent. The voice acting is superb. The whole story makes sense at the end, and I love the twist at the end. Not only is this one of the best movies on TMO, this will be the benchmark for other movies, for years to come.

This was a well done movie, though a little uneven in the plotting and pacing. Don't worry about those too much, though. Practice practice and more practice is the only thing that will help them.

As early efforts go this is a classic that reminded me of MirrorMask. The narration at the end would have been better integrated into the movie itself somewhere, but as i said. Pratice practice.

I eagerly await your next film. :)

What a work of art... it's beautiful, it's deep, it's perfectly polished.
Maybe the first minutes are not introducing the viewer so strongly to the story, but since Sean appears on screen, all this magical dimension absorbs the viewer until the end of the movie.
I enjoyed it more than most of the movies on TMO. Congratulations for this work of art, man.

Very unusual movie, I loved it. From the great visuals to the interesting storyline and the excellent voiceovers... a lot of work has gone into this magical movie. I also loved the ending.

I think it has a clear message, as the movie ends with that interesting discourse talking about examining our own lives and all that stuff. I liked the final sentence 'It's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years.'

Congratulations, I wish I could watch more movies like this one.

Although I understand the concept, the scenes/characters are just too random, theres little parts of script which could be improved such as the clown saying "theres no escape but theres rumoured to be people who have escaped which is just a rumour" or similar.

Otherwise an interesting story and obviously a lot of effort has gone into it.

This movie teaches us all a good lesson: We get too wraped up in our lives to understand that grades and work are not the most important things in life and that we are missing out. I wonder how many people wish they could change things like the way you treated your relative and find out that they are dead in a car accident or heart attack ect. We are driven by success and start lying to ourselves that we are not missing out on any thing, but there is more to life. The movie shows this better than I could ever say with words. That is why i give it 5 stars

It was a very interesting movie, the plot reminded me of the wizard of Oz, but in the end it had a very ecxiting plot. The movie was even was even a little sad and had a good taste of action. The movie had a few flaws, but I will recomend it. The end was sad and happy at the same time, that is a very hard emotion to get across the veiwers mind. This movie is a perfect example of how never take life for granted and sometimes you need to let things go. This is the 3rd movie I've given 5 stars so keep up the good work.

P.S. My movie Deadman is coming in May so watch it!

Superb film! Really well made sets and the plot just drew me in straight away. I loved the twists and the turns, I loved the deep meaning in each little bit that you don't even notice until the second or third viewing... The music fit perfectly and the voice acting was brilliant. Well done!

GREAT! I was fascinated by the movie, its idea, its spirit. ?ou told an well-known, but often forgotten story about what's life. And it's allways good when this story is told, because in the world we are living in, we often forget whats the real point.

first off, its not a romance movie. i think its more of a sci fi mystery type thing u no? but who cares. the sets flourished with beautifully arranged props that gave the screen an extraordinary look of craftmanship and back breaking work. the plot was skillfully developed into a mysterious course of actions that led up to one great and meaningful ending. there were many assortments of wise words in there and the music was fantastic. i dont know why the fuk this isnt on the top 25 chart. check out and rate my movies too! http://movies.lionhead.com/studio/Black99Phantom

Thats F%%%% DEEP MAN!! alice in wwonderland type thing . awesome movie wow great hmmm.... pretending someone is dead when they arent, where've i heard that before? (lol...A Lonely Man by kaipan) i partially agree with filmeadair on some of the things though. the horse part and julias reaction to her dads death... but everything else was above and beyond. nice job

Posted on April 25, 2006
- Filmeadair

Good, but not brilliant.
I know this is going to sound odd given the nature of the movie, but it seemed too incoherent. The transition from reality to surreality just didn't flow. The lines about the horse didn't work as we didn't see anything of its presence/absence before the conversation was over. The revelation about the father came a little too soon (in my opinion) and Julia's reaction was rather difficult to accept -- surely she should have reacted in the next line?

Overall, I don't think that there was enough content in the film to justify its length.

I don't know where to begin, but let's start with the inspirational story. I've been through rough times myself and this rang true on every level. Thank you for making such a meaningful movie.

And the way you did it, with eye-catching set dressing, mythical archetypes used in the truest sense. The technical brilliance, the perfect editing, the voice over acting, all so seamlessly served the story. Bravo!

And on another note, thank you so much for your great review and PR for my movie! (Trust me, I'm not gushing just because of that--I'm bookmarking your studio now)

Brilliant VOs, simply amazing plot, this was simply enchanting. Nice music too. However, I really couldn't get a feel for the characters - and though this is probably due to the fact that I am exceedingly tired, it kinda affected my enjoyment. Everyone has been saying how deep this movie is, but I just don't know. This was encaptivating, but it just lacked that specail 'something'

What a beautiful, creative and enthralling movie! I was totally captivated from the beginning to the end.
THE STORY is the best part of the movie. It's sad, thought-provoking and... simply amazing. It uses elements from Neverending Story or Oz but remains fresh and original at the same time. I loved the complex and likable characters, the wonderful locations and the way you built up the story: first we didn't understand anything, than you slowly, gradually told everything. I greatly appreciated that you even put in a message at the end of the movie.
THE DIRECTING is masterful, too. The best thing about the editing is that we don't even notice it; the scenes flow so seamlessly, so naturally. The same goes for the music: it fit into the mood of the scenes so perfectly that I hardly noticed it at all. The prop placement is ingenious (just like in your previous movies), the sets are well-selected (most of them were totally new to me; I completely forgot that I watch a movie which was made with the Movies editor!). Despite all of these masterful techniques, you only used them as a tool to tell a wonderful story, and that's the way it should be.
I really hope that this movie will be a hot pick!

seems like this movie was some sort of self therapy for the director. Dealing with the pressures of living up to expectations. Visually this movie is spectacular. Cimematically is is also on par. The story is pretty enthralling too.......great work on this movie.

A great film with a solemn message behind it. This film had a lot of great points to it that really made it profit - the editing was superb, the storyline was different but effective, the characters were mostly believeable. Actually this is one of the more theme/metaphor related movies that I've seen in a while and it was done well.

I will say, though, that the characters seemed a bit off-beat at times, basically saying that the film could have been with or without them depending on their importance to the feel of the movie. Also, the structure of the movie had me thrown through a loop trying to figure out whether to let the story unfold or to add up to an ending. So, overall, it was a great film, but I don't think it'll be your best.

Sorry for taking so long to review, I had account problems for ages.

Anyway.

This film is excellent! When I read the script, I thought WOW! This is gonna be special, but it was even better when I watched it! The script was incredibly well written but the effects were as always from you, top class stuff. It was edited really nicely as well and the film went along at a nice pace and looked great when it all came together. The film was really well acted throughout, the standouts were (I think) Axel and Mort as Shaun and Wolf respectively. I also really liked the voice of Julia and the clown, oh and the dad. Hang on, what about the chicken, me! Yes I also really liked the custom costume for the chicken. Great work Storm! The film was a good length and I never wanted to stop watching, fast forward or anything. Overall one of the best films Ive seen on TMO. Top draw stuff.

You know I think you should make a spin-off about the chicken, hes a really cool character and has such a lovely voice, lol.

Axel here.

I'm relatively new to the 'The Movies' scene, so I haven't seen even close to the amount of films that have been released here. However, I have seen my share and I have to say that this is definitely one of the best of them.

It was my pleasure to have taken part as the voice of Sean, for the script was thought out and flowed quite nicely. There didn't seem to be any holes or uncomfortable silences or awkward moments in the dialogue conversations. That's a big plus for me. The talented cast I was privileged to work with really brought their characters to life very nicely.

Now, I'm not so great at going into detail in reviews, but I would like to bring up two things.

First one is what someone mentioned earlier. That some of the motions of the models didn't match the dialogue. While I can see that point, I personally don't like comparing films (especially game-created films) with reality. Heck if a character's head is down while talking perhaps he's just a figety type of guy... needs to move around, break eye contact. Whether it was the producer's intent or not doesn't really matter. It's how you, the audience perceives it, and I personally don't perceive it as anything misconstrued.

The other thing, is my one and only complaint... and it isn't against the producer, it is against myself. This is actually the second The Movies project I have been a part of, and I recorded for both of them at about the same time, not realizing that the format I had recorded in is not compatible with The Movies. Due to that, the producers surely had to convert them which resulted in quality loss. I don't know if anyone else noticed it or thought it was a big deal, but to my ears I can definitely hear the tinny metallic reverb behind my recordings due to this.

Like I said, I'm not so great at reviewing unfortunately, so there's not much advice I can give the producer or the cast. I thought it was a great piece, and I give it 5 out of 5.

Alice in Wonderland with a twist. I loved your publicity stunt for this movie, pretending to leave the forum in order to further your grade-point average :) ! [This film leaves us in no doubt about your priorities in life].

Lovely sets and wacky characters right out of Lewis Carroll. And a very elequent passage at the end to tie it altogether. Subtle but effective music too.

So everything from the marketing of the film to final credits has been delivered beautifully.

A truly beautiful film and a nice one to go out with -- even if only (I hope) temporarily. My only criticism was your use of fades -- it was very distracting. Apart form that you assembled one of the best VO casts I've seen (or heard) on TMO. Thank you for sharing this movie with all of us!

A very good and unique movie you have created here. At first, it reminded me of watching Alice tumble down the rabbit hole and into wonderful but as the movie goes on, it is more then that....alot more. I think the cast you got for the movie is top notch and the VO is very well done. The storyline was told beautifully between each of the varied characters you had but Sean stood out for me and it was very wise to use him as a lead character as his VO was probably of the best I heard on TMO and the end message was nicely hit home!

However, the plot itself at times was abit wary (especially in the middle) as it did waffle abit but you soon corrected it by putting it back on the right track and the choice of music was also done nicely. Top marks also on the custom stuff (like the castle set, the colourful backdrops and the prop dressing). Overall, a very unique movie which shows that fantasy can be told on TMO and in such remarkable ways. Although the plot was abit predictable and the middle was dragging abit, I quite enjoyed watching this and I hope to see more of your movies in the future!

A truly fantastic movie. You take us on the most compelling journey as you treat us to what is surely one of the greatest movies on TMO. The use of a fantasy setting to convey a 'real life' message was superbly done. The VOs and dialogue were excellent. The scripting was done in such a good way that the film flowed at a smooth pace without seeming rushed. The soundtrack also was well used. Movies like this don't come round too often and I, for one, think this is a masterpiece.

I really enjoyed the VOs in this...especially Sean. One of the best voices ive heard here.

Originality - 5/5(very orginal idea)

VOs - 4/5 (Sena's VOs were excellent but some of the other characters lacked emotion and the mic quality was bad at points)

Editing - 5/5 - Very well done and nice set dressings to make this movie feel as if it were shot in another world.

Plot - 4/5 - Great plot, moved along nicely. Characters were nicely done, just the ending(although good) i have seen many times)

RTKIII Factor - 4/5 (Geat movie all around as i described above...)

Overall - 22/25 - Rounded down to 4 Stars - Very high 4 star rating. Deffinaaltely worth checking out!!!

I thought this movie was, okay, so I would have given you 3 stars, but, it made no sense at all and I didn't get it, thats why you get 2 stars.
Editing:6/10
Wow factor:1/10
VO:9/10
Plot:2/10 Like I said, I didn't get it.
Overall: 2 stars
I don't understand why WCP said it was "A MUST SEE!", but I'm not WCP, so I won't judge. I think it was okay, like I said, but too confusing. But luckily the excellent VO work and editing got you to a 2 star. Hope this helps!

Best word to describe this: Shiny.

Why shiny? Because I'm a Firefly fan. Also, because it's really cool. While the idea of a normal girl going to a strange world isn't entirely new, it's still pretty novel to see it well done. Also the ending is a new approach and feels bittersweet. The music was very dreamy and while you might not consciously notice it while watching, it would feel desolate without it. That's how good movie music is supposed to be. Everyone did a great job voice acting and even my crappy mic was forgiveable. I think. I swooned when I heard Axel speak. He's got such a good voice. Anyhow I liked it. Very surreal.

Not the norm. In a good way.

This contained a very good plot, backed up with very good voice-overs. One thing I would've liked to see though, would've been more use of the fade-in/fade-out slide transitions as that would've added to the feeling of being in a dream, especially if used towards the end.

Very good though. Very polished.

A truly great movie! Very interesting plots with many twists and turns that kept me engrossed throughout this reasonably long movie. The voiceovers were very good and fitted all the different parts perfectly helping to add depth to the characters. The only criticism I have of this film is that fades are often used to cover up cuts that don't fit well.
Great movie though! I would give it 6 stars if I could.

Yeees. Did I knew what happenend to the girl? Yeees, but that doesn't matter. The schizophrenic conversations were a great idea, it suprised me that her father was too dead. I didn't except that at all. The characters you brought in the movie were also quiet simply unique. The wolve, the clown, the magician, the monsters and even maybe the pinguine. I think all those characters representate a thing in this world. You really took a good, hard look in the psyche of this girl, and maybe on every person on this planet, and what you found is nothing left than the truth. You are so damn hundred percent right with your sentence. Right after watching the movie I wanted to turn off the PC and wanted to lie in the grass, in the sun, just because it felt good. Well, I have to promote my movie, that's why I can't do that right now, instead of it, I'll just open the window, breathe the air and feel the sun on my head. Thank you!!
Alright, even if I have written quiet much no, here are some other words. The Voice Over was good. I can't say which character was the best, the were all great voice actors. From the girl to the magician, from the pingiun to the ugly monster. Music fitted too, I can't say anything else now...great job, keep up the excellent work

I want to ninja star you for posting in my thread with this great movie. The bad thing is I've got to give you 5 because that was great. You took alot of time making some of those scenes. Great stuff. Like how the rural field was like all a park and stuff great. Then the story was top notch for TMO. I didn't like some of it but hey it still went off without a hitch. I was just looking for a different way and I didn't get it. Like a spoiled child. But you did an amazing job on this movie. Thanks for posting it.

Wow. Very, very out-there. At times I thought I was going a little too far over the brink, but you managed to rope my back in with some of the richest, most intelligent dialogue in a film yet on TMO. The only thing that bothered me much was the protagonist's reaction (or lack thereof) to suddenly appearing in such a bizarre world, but the voice acting made up for that and I chalked it up to artistry. So many films on TMO try to be bizarre and zany but I have seen none pull it off with such a paradoxically tangible punch (I can think of no other way to put it) as your movie. The way that its morals and observations tied it into our carnal realm furthered the artistic power of the absurd spirit world.

This may sound ridiculous, but even with the limitations of the software I think you have managed to even bring yourself to comparable artistic footing with Lewis Caroll... Alice in Wonderland is the only media that I can conjure up to compare this too, and now that I think about it the resemblance is striking, yet dissimilar, dissimilar largely in the strong overtone of the moral of your story.

An excellently editted, scripted, and voiced film. By TMO standards this is an utter masterpiece, and even in strife with real-world media it stakes out a firm beachhead. You have my utmost commendations.

What an totally absurd but brilliant movie. One of the most original and visially breathtaking movies ever seen on here. You are truly the master of the fantasy different realm genre. I cannot understanf how you manage to come up with these ideas, but keep them coming.

One thing i love about this is the characters. They seem real and there personalities, including the way the react to the obsticles thrown in there way are marvelous. The set design was a whole 'other dimension' too and it is clear from movies like this and your other movies that the extra detail can transform great story into a magnificent movie.

I would also like to establish the greatness of the v/o, everyone who helped deserves your undying thanks because they made this movie absolutely splendid. They were clear, emotion filled and most of all beievable.

Well done John on creating another timeless classic. Pat yourself on the back and take a bow.

first of all, i was amazed that you created an entirely new world, and i really felt like i was there, you submersed me completely.
all the technical stuff was amazing- some of the best i've seen. but the thing is, the technicals weren't important in this movie. it was the story and morals that were the true stars.
i wish i could say more, but i am at a loss for words, so i will end with this:
pure brilliance.

Originality:9/10 A twisted Wizard of Oz through the Looking Glass.

Plot/Story:9/10 A wonderful ,weird fantasy adventure.Only reason it's not a 10 is I felt it was hard to get into. It's not due to editing or lack of production,I think it was just the quirkiness of the story and characters.Once I saw where it was going I began to appreciate it alot more.

Dialogue:10/10 Great writing and VO,Music was a complete,100% fit for this story.

Editing:10/10 Nothing to say here,Great Job.

Wow:9/10 For the same reasons above...To anyone that's going to watch...stick with this movie...it's odd and strange, but comes together well with a good message in the final lines.

Have I tasted this before? This was certainly an original movie and very creatively done. I enjoyed what you did with the sets, and the surrealism was especially well-done. I have seen this theme and general concept developed a few times on TMO, but I think you did a really good job with it. 7/10

Did I crave it again? There was so much in this movie to think about it and analyze, it's certainly well worth another watch. 7/10

Was it cooked all the way? The editing in this movie was strong. I didn't notice any glaring errors, aside from a few problems with game mechanics, which you worked around to the best of your ability. 9/10

Was it missing a sidedish? I don't think there was anything that could have been added to this movie to make it any more powerful. 10/10

Was I still hungry after? This movie was very satisfying! I was really impressed by your set decorating and music choices. Most powerful of all though was this tremendous script. Your voice actors gave life to the characters, and everything moved along professionally. 9/10

Total: 41/50 - 5 stars....and Dulcilicious! (Dulilicious movies are my personal favorite movies & ones that I'll watch over again)

This was a step into deeper waters for you John, a maturity I havent seen in your previous work. As usual you have great work in props and artistic design and interesting characters, but it is the scripting and dialogue that stands out this time. The story would have been original for TMO at one time but now there are a few movies treading similar ground, however, your style and imagination have allowed your story a face of its own. There were a couple of places in the dialogue that jarred slightly, sometimes a sentence seemed not to follow what had previously been said, but perhaps that was on purpose as part of the story...possibly.
I found this more focused and controlled than your other movies, but without losing its imagination and style, I believe it is your best work yet.
Great work from the VO's and soundtrack helped form a solid foundation for the cryptic storyline.
Damn Fine Movie.

chatnoir_studios - - An excellent fantasy, with mesmerizing visuals that nimbly leads its audience into a dreamy world. A memorable journey with an array of interesting characters brought to life by a stellar cast of voice actors. ??The Other Dimension? contains elements of classic movies that are sure to appeal to the child in all of us.

Writing was smooth and quite adroi.

After seeing The Lost Child, you can't expect there not to be completely 'new' sets in the film, because of the talent you have in recreating them with props. Overall, a very well done film that is technically perfect! *The Breakdown*

Pretty original. You had a very interesting concept, populated with some off-the-wall characters that made it fun. Also like the use of custom sets, and the set dressing was well done. Good voice acting and music as well. Only thing that threw me off was the twist at the end. But, overall, it was very good.

This really is an astounding film. By turns funny and touching -- it's as if the "Mad Hatter" had been let loose to scatter nonsense and meaning in ways that at first seem to come out of left field then make a perfect, if twisted, sort of sense.

The level of effort and artistry displayed here is head and shoulders above anything else I've watched on the TMO. The best movie I've seen here. Period.

Alice and wonderland meets the wizard of oz is the only way I can decribe this movie in one sentance. A truely orgional and epic creation packed full of hidden messages, although there is no way the audience could discover them all those messages. The voiceovers were brilliant, a delightful range of voices suiting each character with great emotion in each. And the characters, there's so many unique characters in this! This movie makes me feel everything, happy, sad, scared, amused there really isn't anything this doesn't have.

I don't want to spoil anything for future viewers so I try and not refur to specific points, but the movie really hit me with a barrage of feelings around the halfway point. (Talking about the grades part) I am not surprised I haven't seen anything like this, the sheer ammount of effort to create this combined with the superb script must be astounding. Not to mention how many friggin surprise twists? There is NOTHING I did not like about this a very well deserved 5 stars for one of the best movies i've ever seen on TMO.

Julia is so busy working hard to get good grades that she forgets to take the time to examine life. Life takes an unexpected turn and she is given the chance that she overlooked.

Concept - 8 - The underlying concept was very good and interesting. The script seemed like a mixed bag -- fantastic in parts, but other parts not so.
Direction - 9 - Excellent use of sets, music, costumes, and props to get the feeling of the movie. Good progression through the various stages to reach the conclusion, with hints of the underlying truth scattered throughout and all leading to the inevidable conclusion. (The exception was the initial transition to fantasy world, I thought this didn't work so well.)
Production - 7 - The VO sound quality was good, and the editing was generally good. A consistent niggle was that often the actors actions did not match what they were saying (e.g. two people talking, but the listener is the one waving their arms around). Also some of the choices of scenes seemed odd, such as the running scenes (romantic run vs. scared run vs. jog), the empty talk on phone, and the empty pay money, Sean hanging his head while talking, etc, which meant that the actors were doing strange things on the screen that didn't match the plot.
Character - 8 - There were some interesting characters here. The female lead was well portrayed and interesting. At first my reaction to some of them was 'Oh dear, more random chickens', but it wasn't like I thought. Sean had some great dialogue, while some of the other characters seemed weak in comparison. The message in the monologue was great, though it may have been better to incorporate this into the movie rather than hitting the audience over the head with it at the end.

Overall, I thought the movie was an intriguing trip through a fantasy world that is at times comical, at times serious, and at times thought provoking. All the best for the future.

Socrates ancient saying of course still applies as we have changed little. the main point of this is strong and it is brought to life in this bizzare and surreal setting. A beautifully sculptured work of art with limitless ambition. potrays a simple and elegent message in glorious technicolour.
The story winded along slowly in the middle but this gives you time to take in the sumptuous surroundings.
the one thing I would say is that i don't think it needs such a exceptionally story of the loss of a farther to get home the central message. there are many in less extreme circumstances who need to heed the message of this film.

The Other Dimension takes us on a journey into the surreal. A well crafted movie which provides the viewer with a collage of images that evokes the dreamy feel of the movie. The voice acting is superb; the music accompanies the images perfectly. The custom sets, props, and backgrounds help to create "The Other Dimension". Visual stunning - it is quite reminiscent of Alice - mainly because of the bizarre figures we meet along the way.

A wonderful movie. You did a great job with the set-dressing and editing but the strength of this movie lies somewhere else. While inheriting ideas from Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz it still has a very unique story that is delivered by great voiceactors. The music also was well chosen.
This deserves nothing less than 5 stars.

Great work!

I`m glad I just watched this movie. It really gave me a good feeling and put a smile on my face.
It`s not just a very creative and colorful movie - it`s also got an important message. And thinking of it, it`s somehow ironic that a fantasy movie tries to opene your eyes for the importance of real life. But on the other hand, life might be much more like this calm and colorful fantasy world if people were breaking out of their monotonous delusions.
Modding, voiceover, idea - everything great!

One of the most entertaining and unique movies I've seen recently. The story was just thrilling and got me hooked right away. These 11 minutes vanished in no time. Great work!

Great movie John!!! Really original. I love this surreal type of movies. Astonishing VO and music. A top notch work on this! And the story is notable indeed. I only can see some scenes don't convince to me. But a great movie ovarell!

Wow! Great Movie! It's some kind of Alice in Wonderland for adults with a philosophic message. Excellent storyplot with a suprising ending. The voiceovers are over the edge and the editing is well done. This is a wonderful movie that let you forget that it is 11 minutes long. Excellent work! I like it! :)
