Opening Statement:
This movie definently shows how deceitfulness can get you in trouble or killed. Star Lady you definently displayed that in this one. What a twist a the end. This was good work on this one. We really liked how the story turned out. It wasn't too short or too long. Just right. The story itself sends out a real message no doubt. One of the scenes towards the end right before the husband was a book out of the movie Unfaithful with Diane Lane. Actually it was just like Unfaithful, but better and much more scarier. We loved the ending when the door opened and the spirit lives on with her words. If you scary dramas or romances then check this one out.

Requirements:
You added the creativity touch with the custom titles and custom music. Those are always pluses in our book. Nice background too for the titles. It really seperated itself from other films. The storyline and dialogue between the actors was clearly the best part of the movie no doubt about it. The VO talent was good as the voices were top notch. This is definently a classic. Star Lady is the closest thing you could get to Dulci or Sherwinliu on TMO.

*MoMc Review*

As soon as I saw the intro sequence, I know I was in for a treat. The music and just the weird but yet colour backdrops was abit creepy and added the lasting impression of this very well crafted and chilling "story".

The movie at first with the girl about to "tell a story" kept me intruige of what kind of story she would tell but as I feel I need to get the negative out of the way first, I felt the middle of the movie was quite slow as the story of the PI taking pictures of the girl wasn't the strong point in the movie. Although the VO was pretty good, the womens VO at the start had unneccassy breathing nosies as the mic must of been too close however it seem it must of been corrected as her VO was pretty good.

The custom design in this movie was marvellous as I liked the technique of the photos being taken in black and white. Although the movie was quite short, I felt it was the right length of movie (unless as mentioned before, the middle part could of been executed well) but it isn't to the ending when it just creeps up on the audience which makes this a clever horror movie.

At the end of the movie, I realise what has happened and a sudden chill went up my spine and the last sentence in the movie sums up what is a very creative atmosphere horror at best, thanks to the top notch job of the chilling custom music.

Overall, an excellent piece of horror which just jumps right at you towards the end but definetely worth watching from start to finish and the creepy atmosphere is done beautifully through well editing and good choice of music! A grand story to be told!

Starworks have produced an excellent horror movie! Extremely well scripted, and undoubtedly including one of the best voice-overs around on TMO!
A fairly original idea, and superb editing and directing, this movie was excellent all around.
Highly deserving of the WCP-5 star performance and the WCP Horror Seal Of Approval! Good work on getting these two prestigous seals!
A chilling horror movie that WILL take the TMO charts by a storm!
Superb Movie! A WCP MUST-SEE movie!

sequence is creepy...really creepy

outstanding photo effects!

its funny cuz halfway through it reminded of me a soap opera...but then it quickly regained its power over me

the music is the best horror music ever played in any horror picture i've ever seen, TMO or real life

the ending...by god i think you got it! the ending makes this -pawprint- worthy, the whole movie is good, the ending takes it away

Excellent job on the editing. A truly compelling story. The VOs were a little loud in places and a little low in others. It did not take away from this great flick, though. You did an outstanding job with this. This is a Yeagmaster Approved Horror.

First Impressions: Very powerful stuff here Star Works, a brilliant story blended together with a fine cast, good editing and some wonderful production. Yes there are a few flaws but the improvements are there to be seen.

VO / Subtitles (20%) ?? VO, excellent = 20%

Plot / Story (20%) ?? Awesome story, excellent = 20%

Music / Sound (20%) ?? Some great stuff here, nice custom music which worked really well. The only draw back was the sound mix on the VO track, Mort's VO was far too load, maybe you could have used some kind of normalization or compression on this track for stability = 15%

Editing / Production (20%) ?? Top notch, nice custom stuff, the paper was slightly out of focus, but nice recovery with the subtitle = 15%

Wow factor (20%) - Yes this made me think at the end and I love a good ending = 20%

Total Score = 90% An Excellent movie, well done 5 Stars.

Although you are still a little enexperienced in producing films, you have done extreamlly well.
The story is very nice (I already new that) and you have a real nack for script writing definately a top notch stpry that you will have to watch carefully to understand but still not too complicated!
The VO were great and I liked the expressions each one showed, the one main problem with this was that Mort was alot louder than the over voice actors
The Music was also a very good pick and I enjoyed that part of it very much, I am always a fan of music that has not been taken from the game :)
Lastly the editing, this was very nice again, you started with some really brilliant titles and lead on with some great shooting techniques.

This is a brilliant example of how a good story with no special FX can make a great film!

I will always remane a fan of yours,
VS

Well to start with I have to say the VOs are top notch on this movie but I did think Eleanor's VO was a bit to quite at times which annoyed me. But one of the bad things about this movie was the story, it was lacking, I don't mean the story she was telling but the storyline/story of the movie was lacking alot, Places I didn't understand what was happening which annoyed me a bit. The really good thing was the custom music that really caught me into the movie and I wanted to continue watching it !! Which I did. Also the titles were really good and nothing like anything I have seen on TMO.

This is a Moviewood-E! "Hot Picker" review ?? By RonH:

~Spoilers Below~

Originality -- 4/10
I believe this tried to be a few things but failed in all of them. It started off as a nice little (crime/drama/romance) and then it turned into some wierd ghost story. Although most would say this is original - I would agree "Yes, it is, but it needs to be reasonable." You can't just throw ghosts or zombies out of nowhere when we are so convinced that this is about something totally different. Sure twists and turns are great but they have to be believable and that is where this failed.

Plot/Story -- 2/10
The story was moving pretty nicely and seemed pretty interesting until 3/4 into the film. I was dissapointed of the direction it took and felt it really ruined every potential that this film had from the beginning to that point when it turned for the worst. Characters who seemed good didn't have a motive, and characters who were bad performed actions that I didn't understand. Also some things were left unexplained.

Dialogue/VO -- 3/10
This is another area where the film was hit real hard from the beinning. The levels were not only off but they were all over the place. Mort was the only clear and loud voice the others were way to low and when I raised the volume I jumped when Mort talked because he was sooo loud lol - This slows the whole picture and really ruins the film.

Editing -- 7/10
Some good backdrops and cuts here. Although there were some moments where it could have been smoother for the most part this area was good.

Wow" factor -- 1/10
I was wow'ed in the wrong way - I was amazed of how this film managed to ruin itself so well at the end. This could have gone in soo many different and much more amazing directions but out of all of them it chose this unusual and very unexpected (in a bad way) way. I was not impressed because I didn't buy the fact that the film could turn this way. You need to sell it to the audience, this didn't sell at all.

Overall Score -- 17/50 -- 34% -- Two Stars
Sorry, this had much potential to become something really great, but I felt that it fell short in it's delivery, and the story needed more revisions and needed to be re-though out. However, I do believe that you have great talent in capturing the audience's attention, use that again in a later project and end with a more appropriate and believable twist or ending and then I think it would be worthy of a hotpick.

~A My Dog Ate Your Movie review~
M: This is a great little story. I first wondered why the girl was in his bedroom, then the end told me why. The ending to the story and to the movie were both nice little twists. Very well executed. You can tell a pretty good story.20/20
A: The music was great. It built up the suspense.10/10
D: The VOs were at two different levels, some were very quiet and some were loud. The levels are the only thing that bothered me with the VOs. Other than that they were well done. 13/20
D: I like your editing style. Though there was one thing that struck out to me the most. The husband walked in the house with a red baseball bat but didn't use it. I love the way you edited the choke scene at the end.17/20
O: Pretty original. I can't say that I have seen a movie like this. 20/20
G: It was pretty freaky there at the end, and the music kept it up to par. Definitly a horror. 10/10

90 points = 5 stars

This is a great movie, great. All that bothered me was the leveling of the subtitles. I had to turn it up to here some and turn it down at other points to keep my ears from bleeding. But all that can be overlooked because of the great story you tell. I love the twists that you put in.

This is a Moviewood-E! Star Excellence review.

You did some good things with this, most notably the music and editing. Your VAs were quite good, but you must be careful to make sure all sound levels are in a similar range. Some of the lines were lost because they were too soft. Your basic story was quite good, and what a twist! I'm sorry that there are people who won't understand the "ultimate revenge" factor of this movie, but I thought it was so brilliant I almost want to explain it in this review for those who don't get it.

Unfortunately, the ambiguity of the ending is something that seriously mars this film. Though I understood what happened in the main part of the movie, your "envelope" story left me cold and slightly confused. Why is she telling this story if she knows what is going to happen to the listener? I would dump the envelope entirely and, as a denoument, follow what happened to the lover when he awoke.

Score:
Originality -- 10/10
Plot/Story -- 7/10
Dialogue -- 8/10
Editing -- 10/10
"Wow" factor -- 7/10
Overall score -- 84%

This is a borderline score for the MSMEP. I would not recommend you, but my score would be high enough to help you if someone else feels you are deserving. You came very close for me.

This is a Moviewood-E! Star Movie Excellence Plaque "Hot Picker" attempt review!

Originality -- 10/10
Full marks from me for originality. I did not feel that you based this on any other work, at least not familiar to me.

Plot/Story -- 5/10
The story you told was quite entertaining but somewhat confusing near the end. Did the invisible "man" put poison in the husbands drink? Who was the man at the end? Was the woman some sort of alien or??? There were a lot of unanswered questions once we got to the end. Too many unanswered questions...

Dialogue/VO -- 7/10
The voices were great. I had a volume issue though that hurt this score. Some were too quiet and some were startling loud cause i had my volume cranked up too hear the other ones. 2 extra points for doing lip synch with all characters.

Editing -- 8/10
Not a lot evident for editing. The custom titles and opening credits gave you 3 extra points (I liked the newspaper). Not sure how much editing would of been needed. One suggestion... The guy with the camera... he was too obvious. You should of had a scene with him "entering the room slowly" and sneaking pictures (there is that option available) he was too obvious... a blind man could of seen him.

"WOW ME" factor -- 5/10
Only half of the available as this was supposed to be a horror, but I wasn't feeling it, not even with the invisible "whats-it" or the ghouly womans appearance at the end.

Final score 35/50 = 70% = 3 stars

(0-30%=1 star, 31-60%=2 stars, 61-75%=3 stars, 76-90%=4 stars, 91-100%=5 stars

Note: With my high criteria I, myself, am unable to reccomend your movie for a MOvieWood E! Star Movie Excellence Plaque, thus not for a Hot Pick. There are 4 other reviewers to review your film, maybe they will bring up your average enough.
Suggestions: Pay close attention to details, sit back and watch you movie over half a dozen times before releaseing it and look for different aspects each time. If something is off to you... then it will be noticed by your reviewers. Look for music/voice/sound levels, is the story well flowing, would someone else see what you do. Sit back and pretend you are watching someone else's movie. What is clear to you, may not be clear to the next person. This was a strong start, ut it lost me too much within the end. Still worth my time... Good luck.

The voice acting was good for the most part but her lover's voice has so loud. That was pretty darn kewl story though. Good editing and a great story got you the 5 stars. The voice acting was great but some were to loud and some were to quiet. But that didn't really effect how I enjoyed this film.

It's quite slickly edited, and the voiceovers are good (although the levels are way off sometimes, which is quite a big problem), but the plot doesn't cohere: the female (ghost) character's motivation is entirely opaque, and what happens to the two men is utterly inscrutible: the husband hits the lover on the head, says that he will have a different life when he wakes up, then drinks something and falls down, and then there's a headline in a newspaper saying "Man kills lover and husband". What exactly is one supposed to infer from that? I'm afraid that it really doesn't make sense at all.

Posted on April 16, 2006
- markrichardbehenna

Apart from a bit of heavy breathing on the mic, I thought the voiceovers were pretty good, however hopefully some of these reviewers have said that the sound levels between each voice and the music were a bit chaotic. Very errie music, it really raised the atmoshphere at some critical points like the killing. The plot was pretty interesting and held a lot of surprises with a great and classic ending of the horror going on. Editing and dialogue were also good, overall I think if you manage to get each voiceovers sound levels closer (I know that's not as easy as it sounds) this would make an even better movie.

Since this movie won an award, I was expecting somthing better, sorry to say.
The sound on the VO's were to soft at times and at other times they were to loud (the same problem I had) there is a thing you can download for that but I forget the name of it, just ask on the forums it is pretty popular. The voice acting was good. I liked the idea with the camera, but i think it could have been edited better. but all and all i think it was a great movie.
I look forward to seeing your future releases after you are more expirienced with the editing tools, I think you have talent that is being held back by your lack of knowledge of the tools in the game.

DUH COMPETITION OFFICIAL REVIEW:

Comments: Ok, I have to say, at first I wasn't impressed. Sorry, But, WOW, the ending, wow. Wow. Wow.

Originality: 10/10 This is the first real horror movie I've seen on TMO. It actually got me scared!
Character Development: 10/10 YES! The woman, seemed so innocent. The man, so vile. The guest, so unaware. Yes! Character Development gets a perfect score!
Plot: 10/10 Perhaps it would've been a 9/10, if you hadn't included the last line "Come In, I have a Story To Tell". That shows, that it repeated for every visitor in the room. I figured that the guest was somehow special, but you didnt explain it in the storyline. So you get a 10 for the plot.
Editing: 10/10. The PhotoBook pictures give you that extra boost you need for a 10 in the editing department. Fortunately for me, I know how you made the doors shut (what costume you used), so that didnt impress me as much.
Dialouge: 4/10. This is where your movie lacked. The music came in good. The voiceovers then came in too soft. Then, one of the voiceovers bounced open loudly, and that scared me. Probably because of the microphone differences if you had other people doing voiceovers. Also, this movie could've used subtitles. I could understand it, but I could see where some people would get lost in the words.

44/50

Bonus Points /1: .5/1= The Music was phenomenal. The Music became fast-paced, which I simply drunk in as spectacular. Also, the title slides, and other special editing helped with these bonus points.

Total Score: 4.9/5

The only reason I prevent from giving this a perfect score, or more, is the beginning. Your movie had a middle and and an AWESOME ending, but the beginning could've used some work. Still though, best movie I've seen in a while! Definetely up there with Innocence Sacrificed.

this was a solid effort. but it was slow to develop and for awhile you don't know where its going, and for the most part it doesn't seem like a horror, then...BAM!! a great twist there. but the female character doesn't strike to much fear into me and i think that is because the voice actress wasn't sultry enough. good work, overall tho.

Bad thing first. Differing sound levels, a common problem with 'hired gun' VO's but particularly noticeable in this movie. I had the sound on max after the first scenes and had to pull my headphones off when the husband started to speak!
Apart from that, great work. Great atmosphere and dramatic build, good use of music and terrific VO's. (I swear I could marry Azuresama on voice alone!)
Good work and enough tingle to override very slight timing and edit nit-picks in a couple of shots.
Damn fine movie.

Alrighty then i chked it out as i promised. This was a shockingly good horror with a huge dosage of originality and atmosphere 2 make it even btr! The plot isn't spoon fed to the audience but its a case of drip drip, every so often a bit more is leaked 2 the audience, very clever way 2 do it. The VO's were of course utterly brilliant and the ending as previously mentioned was amazing! I will not give away spoilers, ppl just hv 2 watch the movie.

A truly great horror movie with an unexpected conclusion! It's my favorite type of scary movies: you get the eerie feeling from the beginning that something is very wrong, but you don't know what will happen, and you can't leave it, you have to know...
The VO is first class (though sometimes too silent), and the excellent music adds much to the haunting atmosphere. The ending is masterful and very shocking, too. I hope this one will be hotpicked!

A woman seeks out an audience whom to tell her story. It is a story to die for.

Concept - 10 - Great concept, and excellent script.
Direction - 9 - Good progression from start-middle-end, with a terrific ending. Good use of music and pacing to set the mood.
Production - 8 - The subs being too loud or soft detracted a little, but the editing and continuity was good. Some scenes were a little jumpy between the cuts. The black-and-white photos were a nice touch.
Character - 9 - The characters were well portrayed, although the husband's action in the house (drinking) seemed out of place. It may have been more believable if there was some foreshadowing of this aspect of his personality.

Overall, I thought the movie was an excellent horror film that draws the audience right into the heart of the story. All the best for the future.

" Come in, I have a story to tell... " A chillingly perfect bookend line begins and ends this little masterpiece of what I would dub, " Noir Horror ". With elements from classic noir thrillers, rich impotent husband, beautiful lustful younger wife, and the lover all entangled in a web of deceit and murder but with a wonderful horrific twist. This film left me gasping with delight at the brilliant ending. Great work by Mortalitis Infinitas as Joseph Lambert, with his distinctive and seductively cool delivery that always brings just the right touch to his voice work. Azuresama as Eleanor Franks has a sweet and naive voice that enhances her character and in the end makes the last line so memorable. Fine work is also contributed by Crispee as Russell Franks and Visual Studios as The Guest.

The score by PhantomRaul: Ashtray Movies Vision: Chorale_Thrill,Horror-Nervous: Kevin MacLeod add the perfect creepy ambiance to this film

But shining above them all is the utterly fantastic work done her on screenplay, editing, and music editing by the mega talented Starworks, an incredible film by a fine cinematic artist.

Five hats in the air and the MGM seal of approval for the film and all involved.

This movie was great!
It had such a compelling story..
The characters were very well done, and their VO's brought them to life even more.
I truly enjoyed this movie.

It had a knockout ending aswell..

Very nice, very nice indeed. I like the story. Not the most original, but just slightly different enough to keep me wondering. The music from incompetech.com was very nice as well (I've been meaning to use some of his work myself!). My only real complaint was the volume of the VO's... was it Mort that tried to crack my speakers?!?! I'll sue him! lol In my films I go to a lot of trouble to keep the VO's as loud as possible, and as evenly volumed as well. With your film I had to continually have my hand on the volume knob.

In the end, it's a small complaint that doesn't do you any harm score-wise.

Great film, well done!

Very effective editing, storytelling and a big congrats to the VO cast. This was a simple piece made excellent through sheer power of execution. I am proud to be part of this project through the use of "Ashtray." Thank you for including me in this short film.

Clever little horror tale, wonderfully VO'd and very neatly edited.
The choice of music capped it off nicely for me though...it created a perfectly creepy atmosphere for the whole movie and when Eleanor gives her last 'I've a story to tell' accompanied by the soundtrack...very effective!
Excellent.

From World Critic Productions Hosts TheWorldCritic
Starworks have produced an excellent horror movie! Extremely well scripted, and undoubtedly including one of the best voice-overs around on TMO!
A fairly original idea, and superb editing and directing, this movie was excellent all around.
Highly deserving of the WCP-5 star performance and the WCP Horror Seal Of Approval! Good work on getting these two prestigous seals!
A chilling horror movie that WILL take the TMO charts by a storm!
Superb Movie! A WCP MUST-SEE movie!

I really enjoyed this movie,

It seemed like the pilot for a new soap opera it had that really intense reality to it that i loved. The voice acting was superb & editing was fabulous.

A nice horror thriller that delivers a very good ending. We learn about Eleanor through her story to the guest and are taken on a tour of the past along with the guest. Good music. Very good dialogue. Sound effects on the VO's were too low on most and real loud on one character. Well done movie which kept interest all the way to the ending. Excellent movie

While I had some trouble understanding some of the characters due to the sound volume, there is some solid voice acting here to be enjoyed. And it's always great to see some interesting scenes of adultery and jealousy in a TMO movie, a change from all the bunny suits, ninjas and Lost-in-Space-robots crowding other movies. Good job!

PLOT==10/10==A truley excellent story!
SOUND==7/10==Great choice of music. Good job on the VOs. My only complaint here is that the volume level on the VOs were a bit inconsistent. Most of it was very low, but then there would be parts that were too loud. The voice talent was otherwise above average!
DIALOUGE==10/10==Dialouge can make or break a movie like yours. Luckliy for you this was great writing and great execution.
Editing==10/10==What can I say it was just perfect.
WOW FACTOR==8/10==To be honest I wasn't overly impressed. It just wasn't my typr of movie. I can see that it is a good movie though and will rate it such.

OVERALL==45/50==Great movie!

To start off..really good story. I can't impress that enough. I really like the concept and you bring it across quite spookily. For this alone I would have rated it 5 stars.

Unfortunately, there are a few scenes where the position and/or props of the characters shift. Also there are a few times that your voice volume increases drastically from one character to the next. Also on that note (and I didn't change rating for this) but when you record voice make sure you keep the mic away from that air/breath over the mic area.

Over all , great movie and I will definately recomend this to others for viewing. Well told, well thought out and well acted. Great job!

sequence is creepy...really creepy

outstanding photo effects!

its funny cuz halfway through it reminded of me a soap opera...but then it quickly regained its power over me

the music is the best horror music ever played in any horror picture i've ever seen, TMO or real life

the ending...by god i think you got it! the ending makes this -pawprint- worthy, the whole movie is good, the ending takes it away

Excellent job on the editing. A truly compelling story. The VOs were a little loud in places and a little low in others. It did not take away from this great flick, though. You did an outstanding job with this. This is a Yeagmaster Approved Horror.

Editing : 3/3 - Good editing, a few minor inconsistancies, but they are easily overlooked.
Dialogue : 2/3 - The volume was a little off, most of the voices were very quiet, with one notable exeption.
Plot : 4/4 - Great plot, nice little twist at the end.
Scene/Prop use : 3/3 - Good use of scenes and props.
Entertainment : 4/5 - The quiet voice overs made it a little hard to hear, but what I heard was great. Keep it up.
Music : 2/2 - Nice music.

Total : 18/20 - 5 stars - Excellent.

I will always remane a fan of yours,
VS
