Film Description
**PLEASE READ THESE NOTES FIRST**

This is a sub-titled movie -- no voice-over. The reason for this is because I have no microphone and I felt the subject matter was too personal to have another person do my narration. I hope you will agree with my decision on this.

This movie is the closest I could come in The Movies Game to making a documentary on the life of my daughter, Lisa. This film comes from my heart, and is something of a healing process for me. I sincerely hope you enjoy my daughter's amazing, though tragic, story.

I hope all the stars you've got and all the warm words you've received here help in some small way.

I saw this film because someone started a thread in the "Your Movies" section - someone who was not you. You'd moved them to start a thread on your behalf.

This film is a lesson to us all when we start complaining about the price of petrol and one-star ninjas.

Give someone a means of expression (something that Activision and Lionhead totally failed to realise they had done) and they will tell you a story; often times that story comes from real life, harsh as it can be.

Death comes to us all - but, as you say, we are always woefully ill-prepared for the most certain of all events. Your Lisa was very courageous, the way you have told the story ensures that everyone knows that. And that's the beauty of your story - you have told us of a loving, brave young lady who would describe a bout of severe pain as a "date" with the doctor. Who wouldn't want to be remembered like that?

I`ve deliberately given this film one star, because I believe it would cheapen the memory of Lisa and my own feelings towards this film if I were to "play the game" and equate it with the likes of "King Kong" or "Blackbird" which are brilliant films, but mere entertainment.

Ideally, I would like to leave no stars at all - but you're not allowed to comment unless you give a rating. And you certainly deserve all the comments and support you have, and will continue to, receive.

Thankyou for your story. Lisa is certainly an inspiration to all of us.

Love, compassion, and happiness. The only reason to continue living, and the power of releasing the sorrow and depression, is the biggest step towards peace of mind.

A wonderful movie, which sounds terrible to say, when speaking of sucha sorrowful moment. Deep, poetically written, no way to fault you.

I cannot say much more about this movie, it's too good for words, what we can tell you is it has been nominated for Best Movie, and Best True Story in our WCP awards ceremony on March 31st.

A movie that has touched us all, and likely to touch many more.

By far, the most emotional and bittersweet film I've ever seen on TMO. To take something so personal and share it with others using this medium is a monument to the power of film and storytelling.

We at 1000 Yard Stare Studios truly appreciate your courage in sharing, feel abject sorrow for your loss, and thank you wholeheartedly for the lumps in our throats and the tears in our eyes.

Angels in heaven, indeed.

This is beautiful....It is pumped up with feelings,tragedy,emotion....regret.
This has to be the purest film on TMO and maybe even real life.
You brought a simple game...made by simple hardware...and turned it into raw emotions.
There is no reason this should even be rated.I feel wrong rating this because real life isn't rated......

I wish I knew what to type, but I am honestly too choked up to really think about it. A few years back I had lost my best friend to a fall accident. Dealing with her loss was one of the hardest things for me to overcome. I must say I'm still not fully over it. This movie is a beautiful tribute to a great person. I am so glad that you have decided to leave it on TMO in order to show the world what a terrific person Lisa was. This is truely an inspirational piece.

I'm glad you didn't have VO's, as it would ruin something, I liked it better like this. This was very good!
The movie deserves 5 stars, for beeing such a great emotional tribute.

Beyond entertainment
Beyond a film
Beyond beauty
Beyond creativity
Beyond belief

What you have created here is something beyond emotion. It is life's true story, all within the capacity of a game. A simple game can express the true feelings of life and the many who live it.

I see this not as a movie, but as a story. A message. Not something you would normally burst into on a weekend Movies expedition. I see this as a poem, blending the many thoughts of living and not living into a splash of emotion and bittersweetness.

Am I exaggerating? On some level, yes I am. But rarely does someone see a film with such magnitude as this.

99.9% amazing. The .1% was me blinking

I watched this movie some time ago, but didn't leave a review. Perhaps because I did not know what to say. I will attempt to do so here.

From a personal perspective, the heart and love of a true father has been poured into this movie and flows right out into the lives of those who view it. I admire the honesty and openness with which the story is relayed.

From a technical perspective, the pacing may have been improved through brief pauses and/or changes of music in appropriate places, such as to briefly pause and highlight the relief of the success of the transplant, then followed by the tragic news that followed. As it is, the even tone of the music and the rapidity of the narration pushed on without giving a chance for full implications to hit the audience.

Overall, the movie is both heartwarming and tragic, taking the audience together with the narrator through a whole range of emotions. I admire the positive and hopeful ending -- that these are memories of life -- and that it is not the end of the story. All the best for the future.

Editing : 3/3 - Good editing.
Dialogue : 3/3 - Subs are good, easy to read.
Plot : 4/4 - Its real life, can't say the plot was good or bad.
Scene/Prop use : 3/3 - Good use of scenes and props
Entertainment : 4/5 - A very touching, well made story. The only reason it didn't get a 5 points in this category is because it made me a little depressed, I don't like being depressed.
Music : 2/2 - Good selection of music.

Total : 19/20 - 5 stars- Excellent

It hit me so hard i can't even explain it to you, i haven't cried because of any movie either a professional one, or an online one, but the tears are streaming down. I send as much online love to you and your family as I possibly can, and I thank you for sharing such an important part of your soul with us. A beautiful touching film of tremendous power. Perfectly made and beautifully told. A wonderful tribute to a loving and much missed daughter, sister, aunt. It goes to show that this little game that we have has the power to tell real human stories and touch people in unimagined ways. A rare gift to us all and the power of film is once again shown in this fine work. Bravo.

I never cry, but at the end, I thought I felt a tear on my cheek. I too have lost a loved one, but to lose one's daughter is an awful loss. Even if you had a micro-phone, I think that subtitles would have still been better. I wanted to tell you that time heals everything, and everyday it is a little bit less painful.

To be perfectly frank, I really wanted to dislike this movie -- cold and callous as it seems, I refused to watch this film for weeks, thinking it would be cheap, tawdry, sentimentalist claptrap.

I was so wrong. And I apologize for the assumption.

There really is an overpowering emotional intensity with this film that creeps up on you and never legs go, completely taking over by the film's final act. I didn't expect to be moved by this -- which is why I'm eating my words and celebrating the work you have shared with us.

It also struck me pretty hard when I realized that I am currently the same age Lisa was when she died. I simply cannot imagine that sort of courage...

I don't cry, as a rule, and the last time I did is a long time ago. So the fact that I was literally tearing up watching this was very remarkable. Sitting here, watching a video made with a game, without any voices even, and I was on the point of bawling my eyes out.

I give every aspect of this 5 stars. The presentation, scene editing, everything. The story had the kind of emotion rarely seen anywhere online, or, as meteetsee said, real life even.

My sincerest compliments on your work, and condolences for your loss.

4.8 (5)
"Lisa seemed made out of love."

This is such a difficult movie to rate from an objective standpoint. The story itself is so touching, your daughter's generosity so obvious, that it's hard to look at the technical aspects and see them for what they are. Viewing the world through a sheen of tears does affect the vision after all. And I??ve lost friends that would fit the description I quoted at the top of this review. I know the pain of losing the best of us. I??ve always found it odd that it??s such a consistent phenomena.

In the final analysis, this IS a truly excellent movie in terms of storytelling but I must agree with Apocryphon and Chagidiel, that the story is all there is, and that the ending might have included more to tie things together. You say you didn??t know how many lives she had touched until her funeral. Perhaps a scene dealing with her friends and their emotions would have helped. I found myself with one key question at the end; how has the passing of a being made of love affected those she left behind? In the answer to this question lies the ending of a movie.

Certainly one of the best movies (Screenplay wise) I have seen on the site. To be perfectly honest, I watched the movie expecting something sick at the end like some kind of punch-line, but it is extremely moving. What's worse is that it happened. I'm probably not the first to say this, but think of it that Lisa's pain is over.

Extremely touching movie and its nice to see people using this site and game to relay personal messages and stories as well.

One of the few proofs that really serious, emotionally engaging (and wrenching!) movies can be made with TMG. The use of subtitles actually helps this movie, since VOs (SO difficult to have done really well) could possibly have distracted from the story. This is so personal, so engaging, and so simply empathic, this needs to be seen at least once by everyone. Five well-deserved stars for this very large work.

That was a truly amazing and touching film. Never before have I felt emotionally touched by a film made using The Movies PC Game, but today I have. Like another person has said already, it seems that rating this movie is wrong because you can not rate life, and my friend, your daughter appears to have led a brilliant, but unfortunately short life. I saw your post in my thread about having this film on my website, I will put it on within the next couple of days as the week's big premiere, because I want everyone to see this movie, and maybe the people who watch it will learn to appreciate life. It must have took a lot of emotional strength to make this movie, and especially to let other people see it, but you have and I respect you for it. What can I say, Well done, Congratulations on the movie? No I suppose I can't, that wouldn't be right. Instead, I offer you all the best for the future, and I hope that things get easier for you my friend.

This is truly the only romance movie on TMO that made me feel something. Maybe it's because it's a true story or maybe the fact that it is well written with emotion. The question of euthanasia and being strong enough to let a loved one go is evident here. I actually felt for the guy. Great movie wrought with emotion........fantastic work

After watching a movie that is so touching, it's hard to write a review on the technicals ofit. The story is very touching, and it touches so many people. I lost my grandmother, my grandfather, two aunts and my other grandmother and I'm only 15 years old. It's hard. Nevertheless, here's the review:
Originality: 10/10
Story:10/10
Editing:7/10
Subs: 7/10
WOW Me: 10/10
Total: 44/50 !!
Great work, and again, very touching!

This is probably one of the most emotional movie I have watch on TMO...it was so much for me that I had to pause it halfway to get some courage to watch it again as I got too emotional...only rarely movies or tv shows make me feel like this. Knowing its a true story probably makes me so emotional but how it was executed was done remarkable well and the subtitles was done at a good pace. Overall, a great movie which would actually make you feel sad and perhaps shed a tear or so. I'm sorry to hear you had to go through that and let us experience what you went through also.

Ok, i really don't know where to start, although, I guess i should wipe the tears from my eyes to begin with heh.

I lost my mother a few years back in circumstances something like that, a long drawn out illness....I can only imagine how painful that was to make. Absolutely fantastic movie, totally deserving of 5 stars.

This is an amazing little film that pulls on your emotions in a way I didn't think a movie made from The Movies could. You deserve every 5-star review you get, thank you for sharing your experience and I'm sorry it had to happen.

A great production. The story was just incredible, you??ve really executed it well. Had great structure and a lot meaning to it- sympathy from deep down. Shot collaboration was also performed effectively. A lot of work involved for this one and creativity at its finest (as it came from your heart and soul). Couldn??t give any more credit for this film. Had some real depth towards the story and virtues of desire and love. Perspective was just splendid, really got into your characters emotions.

As a conclusion, A well crafted story with real compassion. A film that would touch every viewer who sees it and portrays the meaning of life and death. I hope this film reaches the top because it really deserves it.

Anyone who has lost a close loved one will be able to relate to this movie, regardless of how they passed.(myself being able to relate to well, as my father went through almost the exact same thing, my condolences to you and your family). The story itself and the music you desided to use were perfect in drawing the viewer into your lives. This movie deserves to be seen by everyone, and thank-you for telling your story.

I've never had a TMO film bring tears - actual tears! - to my eyes... I cannot help but feel humbled by your wisdom and feel for your loss. What could I possibly say about the film? It was remarkable, heart-rending and engaging, the delivery perfect... I'm utterly speechless. It's seems lame to congratulate you on your work in light of it all, but you truly have created something special.

Film is a medium to which people can relate and through which one can 'heal' himself, in a way. Films about loss often give viewers the opportunity to relate to the characters portrayed, which can be comforting.
What is more beautiful than actually MAKING such a film yourself? While The Movies is a game I just play for fun, I am deeply moved by the way you express the love and emotion inside you through it. This is an extraordinary film which deserves to be watched by everyone.

i'm sorry about lisa. but in the movie sense it was great how you used the music and scenes that make the viewer feel just as you felt that day. and it shows that tmo isn't just about stupid comedies and violent action movies but every so often a movie like this comes a long. this movie truly is one of a kind good job

There are about a million things I've thought of saying about this unique and powerful tribute, but I find I'm unable to say any of them.

Anything I might type here in this little white box would only detract from the film.

I will say only that I have never seen anything like this on TMO, and I daresay I probably won't again.

Thank you for sharing this part of yourself and your family with us.

Hmmm, for me this is a difficult movie to review. Why because it has so much emotion attached to it and to be honest about the movie is hard.

But I have to be true to myself and fair to you and the rest of TMO.

First Impressions: A very emotional, sad and thought filled movie. I have experienced loss in my life and will never get use to it. The movie did exactly what it needed to do, but nothing else.

VO / Subtitles (20%) ?? A little fast but right for this movie = 15%

Plot / Story (20%) ?? True life story = 20%

Music / Sound (20%) ?? Music from the game used, maybe other music could have been used? = 15%

Editing / Production (20%) ?? Good enough for the movie, but nothing spectacular = 15%

Wow factor (20%) - Emotionally powerful, but not regarding cinematography = 15%

Total Score = 80% - Power feelings involved in a good movie ?? 4 Stars

*MoMc Reviewer*
Well I have been avoiding reviewing this movie for a long while but now I have to as a MoMc reviewer. The reason I avoided it is because I knew it was a true and desperately sad story and has been well recieved and I didnt want to be the meany who reviewed it honestly as a Movie and starred it as such.
Oh well, here goes.
The story is everything everyone says it is, your family's struggle and pain is shared honestly and without sentimentality and is a great tribut to your daughter. Technically the movie is fine, smooth and neatly edited and does the job of illustrating the story well. But that's all it does, it doesnt add anything. Understandably you have not dramatised your account, or added any movie moments or twists to make it more powerful and affecting because that would be like milking your daughters life and death for some suprficial and trivial reward. Nevertheless the movie as such suffers for it. The story alone carries this movie and it could just as easily been a letter, or article in a newspaper.
Everything everyone says about the story and the emotional power is true, but although some of that inevitably comes into the review I cant ignore the rest of the movie as a whole.
Well done for getting this tribute made and for the honesty of the story, but the best I can give for this movie is 4.0
Sorry if I am the bad guy. :/

First of all my sympathy to you and your family. What a brave and selfless person Lisa was. An inspiration to us all. To never complain about her own ailments but always show concern for others, she has my total admiration. At least now she is at peace and free from pain and suffering. You have my total admiration for having the guts to put something so personal and touching on TMO. When we're all moaning about lack of VCs or the fact that our movie isn't in the charts, perhaps we should think about this movie and realise that there are more important things happening in (real)life.

As meteetsee said, real life isn't rated. Real life doesn't have an exact time limit. Real life doesn't have an opening title scene, subtitles or credits.

the only other film that has made me come as close to crying as this1 is Disneys a Christmas Carrol (originally by charles dickins) the episode with little tim :*( just the

This movie is so touching that id have given it 1.000.000 stars out of 5 if i could :*(
she sounds like she is the kind of person that you only hear about the kind of "perfect" person.. and the one that is almost always ripped away at a too young age =/ the kind of person that if she had not died would be remembered forever after for her great humanitary deeds....

parents shouldnt be forced to burry theire children......

and eventhough its not the point with this movie, id like to tell you that its one of best scripted and postroduced movies iv seen so far, everthing is so well done, every subtitle matches perfectly with the cuts

and to round this of before it becomes a novel.

i hope you will one day be reunited with lisa in the next place (wherever that is..)

I think that anybody who has lost somebody will be able to relate to your movie. Just like rjb, I lost my father 2 years ago. The only difference was his death was so sudden and unexpected. I never got the chance to say to him the things I wanted to when he was alive... Anyway, excellent movie.

Posted on March 1, 2006
- rjb2112

I didn't want to watch this because I knew it would tear my heart apart.

I write this review through tears. Some much of it I can relate to.

I lost my father to cancer two years ago, and I cared for him for the last two months of his life. In that time we got to say to each other all the things that you would always wish you had said. The last thing I said to him is that is was and good father and that I loved him. Moments later he died in my arms. In his eyes I saw peace, but maybe that is because it is what I wanted to see.

I also understand how hard it was for you and you wife. My wife is disabled and is in constant pain, hospital trips are frequent. I gave up work to look after her full time. In England we can do that, because the government gives us aid to do that.

When you are caring for someone who is ill. You can deal with their needs. Feed them, clothe them, give them medication or whatever. Most importantly you are there for them, to talk them through it, be a shoulder to cry on, someone to laugh with, and be someone who treats them normal. The one thing you can't do, the one thing that rips your heart apart more than anything, is to see a person that you love in constant pain. Because there is nothing you can do about it, you feel so helpless.

It says a lot about Lisa, she knew how much you cared about her. I can't write anymore, it is too emotional for me.

Suffice to say, I understand.

My prayers go out to you and your loss, as well s the family. It takes a lot for someone to muscle up enough courage and express such a painful occurrence.

I really don't even want to rate this as a movie because it's more to it than that. This is expressing an event in life that was a turning point for someone, and then having to deal with it afterwards in such a way that's pretty much unbearable. I tip my hat to you for this and I truly will keep you uplifted in my prayers that you will have strength to endure over this. Even though you expressed that this helped you heal a bit, there is still yet a healing process, and this is just the first step.

I don't want to mean to be spiritual on internet like this as I know there are many different beliefs and offense can be taken, but I just have to represent and say that I will pray for your peace of mind and that God will strengthen the hearts of you and your family, that you all may overcome such a loss and regain peace in your home(s). May you have no more restless nights and the power to overcome this tragic loss, in Jesus Name...Amen!!

You stay encouraged and I just want you to know that you have the support of many people. Take care and may God keep you in perfect peace!! :)
