Film Description
I once saw a german world war two film and all the officers had ponytails. i enjoyed the film so much that i decided to give the officer in this film a ponytail. also a part two might come out. witch will include charactors like hitler and churchhill. Soz the VOs were rubbish because i didnt wont to wake the family up while doing them. like i said there will be a second one soon and my first priority is the VO's. Thanks for watching.

Please tell me what you will like in the second movie

Golden Distinctions Review, Round 1, Action review:

Story: The classic tale of soldiers, united in brotherhood by the rigid conditions of war. The dialog amongst the soldiers set up a good backdrop on their conditions, and the dialog was approriately used. Other than that, nothing really special to mention, but action movies aren't typically known to blow your mind in storyline anyway.

Scenes and Editing: Great use of scenes and sets, as well as weather and lighting effects to bring the gloomy imagery of war. The subtitles as well as the previously mentioned dialog keep viewers updated of what is going on, as time progresses through the movie the sets change in accordance. The editing was overall pretty good, but some things felt "Fake" and detached from the rest of the movie such as the sniper incident.

Production: I have taken note of the volume of your voiceovers, and totally understand that situation, for turning them up would have caused unwanted microphone feedback in the recording. However, the dialects of the character lacked emotion, most of the time it sounded like straight talking, the opposite vibe a war movie needs.

Overall: Enjoyable movie, intense action sequences, although not devoid of other viewing tastes, as it also has hints of drama. Also the movie was timed right in length, it ended when it seemed like it should have.

Rich with emotion!
I was going to knock off a star for the un-emotional VO's, but unlike so may who watch our films, I read the creators notes first and let the VO issue slide.
The german-Brit knife fight could have been a quicker pace fight(Tighter cutting can improve this). I like the premise of this movie and found myself captured in the storyline and satisfied with the ending.

Well done mate!

Hoo's Who Review : While it isn't a bad war movie. ( Considering the limitations within the game. ) The war sequences were done very good. The story line has been done over and over though ( Sorry ) and it does remind me of the demo flick on the movie player a little bit. The Vo's were low in some spots and didn't really give this movie a " War Feel ". It was still done top notch and deserves to be looked at. ( More war fans should view this to learn how to do a war flick right. )

EDITING==7/10==This game just doesn't give you a good choice of things to make war movies with. That being said and considering the limitations I thought it was pretty good.
PLOT==7/10==Pretty standard war movie plot.
SOUND==8/10==The VOs were just ok for me. Maybe if the VOs aren's great for part 2 you should include subs to back them up. The music choice fit perfect though.
DIALOUGE==7/10==Typical dialouge for a movie of this type.
WOW FACTOR==7/10==It wasn't the best war movie I've seen but it was a decent film.

OVERALL==36/50==4 Stars. A good war flick.

the movie was historically accurate for the most part

there were not so bad VO's slightly drowned out

but the film was pretty good the "1,2,...3" scene was very well executed and the knife fight pan shot never needed to happen

the next film needs more fighting, better VO [i'll help if u need] and just a better "war" film sense

i'd recomend this to anyone who wants to waste a few minutes on a decent war flick

This is one of the very first war movies i hv seen Online that i can genuinely say worked for me. This actually had a brilliant plot with bundles of action and impact 2 go with it. The VO's weren't amazing but i can't complain cos i don't even use them! Ur movie was drama packed and emotional as well, it is this fact that makes the movie better. A wa movie needs emoion, u displayed it perfectly. Not overlong ot too short, this movie is simply genius!
Pls chk out my movie, The Survivors: Exile.

Concept - 8 - War flick with drama and real characters, good work. Good script.
Direction - 6 - Good pacing and progression from start-middle-end. The knife fight was too slow, lacked emotion. The sniper scene could have built suspense better through foreshadowing -- show the sniper at the window while the conversation is going on, etc. The soldier's reaction seemed out of place too -- he deserved to get one in the head for being stupid in a warzone.
Production - 8 - Good editing, good costumes and sets.
Character - 8 - The characters were done well, accents were good. As above, the soldier's uncharacteristic reactions under fire spoiled the suspension-of-disbelief for me. If he was portrayed that way deliberately, then there should probably have been some foreshadowing earlier.

Overall, I thought the movie was a well produced war flick. All the best for the future.

That was a great war story that got me hooked right from the start. The VOs could have been a little better but I won't give you less stars just because of this. With a little practise you'll shortly will be better, no doubt about it! For a second part I would like to see a fictional attack on Hitler or something like that. 5 stars for you!

This was a pretty good effort at making a war flick. The mood was nice and the dialog was well written. The problems I had in this film were in the edit and VO work. Both need a little work. But still, not a bad war movie...it's just needs a few more touch ups in a few areas in post production. Good effort, though! - 3 stars

A very good war movie. I read what you said about having to be quiet when recording the VO's. And its mildly humorous at a couple points where there is a hushed RUN or NOW or something like that. I look foward to your next one. The story was done well and I think you did a great job.

Rated against the other contest movies. As I started the rating with a 4 star rate on the first movie, I had to rate all the movies based upon relationship to each other. With that in mind, this one draws a 3 from me. More like a 4 in actuality.

The atmosfear is brilliant, and the story is just ok for a war movie. Perhaps the VO can be improved a bit (in some points the soldiers shout without emotion) and the editing cause some points (like the knifes fight) need to be more dinamic. But a notable war movie :)

Kind of odd effect that VO gave it, like it was a dream or a nightmare and someone was reliving what happened and giving it a sleepy, dazed commentary.
You already have plenty of comments here that cover everything, so I will just say good story and all round decent effort, not convinced by your pony tail explanation though ;)
Good movie, 3.5 rounded up to 4.

Golden Distinction Award Review:
My official category is Drama so I take the initiative to review any film that seems like it might fall into this category (which means you might end up getting a review from the Action reviewer as well. Yay. 2 reviews for the price of one)
4-stars for the effort. That is for certain.
The reason you did not make the additional star is a combination of things. 1) is your voice overs. VOs are tricky because a flat voice through a film can make it seem longer and less exciting than intended. I felt that you read each part with little emotion and it took away from the actual emotion you wanted to portray in the film. I know a lot of people say that subtitles will ruin a film, but I will NEVER let well written subtitles take away from someone's rating. I personally think subtitles would have been the way to go for this one. 2)The Story. I don't think I really caught on what was going on. Maybe it was a few of the VOs that came in too low for me to hear, but I just feel that the story did not help me develop an interest in the characters. Especially your main character who dies at the end of the film. If I had felt sorrow and pain for him, you would have gotten the full 5 stars.
A good attempt and I encourage more work from you. Keep making movies.

Originality -- 6/10 -- Standard war movie, not that there's anything wrong with that. You did very little to make it unique due to the number of cliches in it. I know there are no new ideas -- but remember that a filmmaker's job is to take what is old and put a new spin on it to make it new. You failed to do that here.
Plot/Story -- 9/10 -- Cliches aside, the story was actually quite good! My primary criticism is that you rushed the beginning a little too much. I know you were probably chomping at the bit to get to the action scenes (who wouldn't?), but you should have taken more time to set up your main characters. It would have created more dramatic tension during the battle scenes.
Dialogue -- 7/10 -- A little trouble with cliches again here. Try to think of new ways to say the things that are said in every war movie. The VO work was quite good -- the quiet voices actually worked well in some scenes. But next time wait until everyone's awake before you do a battle scene. (I understand your problem, though, and did not deduct for that.)
Editing -- 9/10 -- Outstanding editing for the most part. The night battle at the end was really too dark to be seen clearly, which was unfortunate since it constituted the climax to your movie. Some might argue with your choice of music for the main battle, but I found its melancholy tone to be an excellent counterpoint to what I was seeing on the screen. Brilliant!
Wow factor -- 7/10 -- Overall, I was quite impressed with this film. I think I would have been moved more by the ending if I had gotten to know your characters better at the beginning.

38/50 -- 4 stars. Congratualtions on a making a good film!

You have got some interesting stuff going on there. I liked the VO, but if you have to do quite VO's again, you could try using Audacity (it's free). You can boost the volume with it, and loads of other stuff.

I enjoyed this film, well done!

JCBTKHT Review

Summary - The story it self was well thought out. What I loved most about this film was the sound effects, the timing with the guns was perfect. In the future I would be looking for more character depth.

Scene cuts - I didn't seem to really understand when they both stood in the middle of the city and were firing all around them selves. Then when one of the two got sniped, why did the other one run more into the open? And did he kill the sniper? I got lost here.

Script - Again, more character depth would help me connect with the story, but I understand this is hard to do in only 5 minutes.

Edits - I would do some of the VO's again, most of them are emotionless or sound like the person that did the VO is just whispering.

Good movie, but like you said, the vo's were a bit quiet. I can tell this wasn't just some schlock put up for vc. i think you really put your heart and soul into this. Pick a time when your family isn't asleep to do the vo's for your next movie. Then I know it will be great!

That's a nice WWII film, quiet realistic (well, I suppose it is...), with a good plot & athmosphere.(fog fits perfectly here, as red light does).
I still rate 3, because of VO (but you pointed that out yourself), because of the overall audio athmosphere that could have been improved (music & effects), and because I found the general rythm in your movie a little bit flat. A good example of the whole thing, is that the editing, music and sounds rythm stay the same as the story changes from soft introduction to battleground and then battle scenes. But this is just my opinion, as I can see your movie has been very well rated.

A bit slow paced otherwise good.

VO's you've mentioned yourself, so I won't go into that. Some of the action scenes could have been spiced up with some extra machine gun sounds to mesh better. Some scenes have alot of sounds as standard while some are quite quiet, so it's usually good to add some sound in the more quiet scenes.

a very nice well made film mate! i knocked a star off because the VO's were a little bit wanting. but as you stated before, there were good reasons for this. also in the last scene at night, there were birds chirping. turn the ambient sound off when you do scenes at night. another peice of constructive critisim is try and forget the knife fights. to me these are very unrealistic for the simple fact they tend to stare at each other more then swing the blades, and it all seems to be going in slow motion. if you want to keep the knife fights, i would tend to do some editing to them. but its your movie, just my thoughts :) a good job mate! keep it up! look forward to more movies from you!

I really enjoyed that. You wouldn't know it from the list of complaints I'm about to rattle off but that's a movie to be proud of. There are problems with the VO, both in the audio quality, the fact that you were either too considerate or too embarrassed to really belt out the shouting, and in places the acting wasn't really all that. The story had issues too - this is as generic as a war movie can be without naming it "Bridge on the battle of the great private from navarone". The editing needs work - it's been said before but the knife fight was awful - the animation from the game is really awkward and slow, and there's not much happening here to inject any urgency.
But somehow it all comes together - the characters are really engaging, the set pieces are made genuinely interesting because of the emotional depth you;ve invested in these two guys. I wasn't crying at the end but that's only because I am a manly man.
I can't give it a five, there are too many things that could be improved. But there are plenty of movies out there with lots of 5 star reviews that are not half as good as this.

Story: Nice idea, but it seemed to drag on a bit. 4*
Editing: The VOs were too low and they didn't have a lot of emotion in them. The rest of the editing was done well. 4*
Music: Not bad, it seemed to work for the most part, but it felt like it was lacking something. 4*
Costumes: The head bandage was a nice touch. The ponytail on the officer didn't look right with his hat, it took away a bit from the movie. 4*
Stes: Not much done to spruce up the standard sets. 3*
Total: 3.8*

The story was straightforward enough, as one would expect from a war movie, with few if any surprises to be had.

Technically speaking, I had two small problems--one of which you mention in the description. The VOs were just too quiet and a bit flat, but I'm sympathetic as I have that same situation here in my "studio" all the time. :) The other issue was the editing--in places it seemed there was hardly any at all. There are moments when the pace of the film comes to an abrupt halt (for example, the beginning of the knife-fight) which could have been served well with a little cutting. Nothing too serious, but something to look at in the future.

Music was nothing new but was used well.

Dialogue--what I could hear of it--was solid, with no cheesy or silly lines.

A good, solid effort. I'll be on the lookout for Part II.

The VO's were pretty bad but you gave the reason i simply can't take away points. Every thing else was great in this movie. If you wouldn't have stated the VO problems this would have been a 3 star film but because you didn't want to wake up the neighboorhood screaming "FIRE!" you get 5 stars.

Just to let you know, I'm an actor. I had the same problem when I was being recorded some of the first times. You can't whisper scream and have it sound real. It ruined some of the battle scenes. I also hate what TMO does to dark scenes, but that's not your fault. It did drag on a few times. A lot of work went into this, I can tell. Well edited, in my opinion. And even with the times when the VO could have been better, it was still better than most I've heard. Good job!

Good moive, VO's were good, but some too low and some not powerful enough for the scene. Storyline was creative and use of scenes were very good, but editing would have tightened them more. Good job on the choices of the scenes ( it is sad that in the movie game the knife fights are not very powerfull in tense but you used it as you could) and on the mood working.
Is the german officer ponytail something that was forgot?
Good work on the voices, sometime a bit too low ( micro balance i guess) and sometime would need more emotions in ( perhaps always not easy to record without disturbing all familly).
Any way a movie that desserve to be seen.

I liked the fight scenes and the ambience created for them. One comment that kind of seemed strange was the voice over was way too mellow. When a leader is going to yell out an order on the battlefield, he's going to be a bit passionate. The VO sounded at times like the speaker wasn't even in the scene because of this. But very good job overall.
