Film Description
My first film posted on The Movies Online - even though I've had the game for a couple of weeks. My first two efforts were thwarted - the first was incredibly ambitious (who knew you couldn't have nine leading cast and a runtime of 90 minutes) and my second is beset by bugs (the random engine noise and sound bugs you're all familiar with) plus my lead actress for the voice overs needs a bit of encouragement. She's worth waiting for, though.

Anyway. My first uploaded film...

This is The Reanimator. It's based VERY loosely on the H.P. Lovecroft stories about Herbert West, the Re-Animator. In this version, Herb West and Randy Carter are two students at Miskatonic High School attempting to raise the dead!

It runs over 14 minutes long and the VO work took a full day to 'assemble.' I know I won't make any friend here, but I think the time for "The Movies" movies which are posted online WITHOUT VO to be docked a star. VO is bloody hard work. Mine was at least 50% of the effort put into the film. Anybody who doesn't put VO in their films is, as far as I'm concerned, avoiding half the job. Recent films like King Kong, Bird Flu and Oblivion have really raised to bar as far as entries here go, so if you're going to upload a film, make the effort and put a VO in it.

Anyway. hope you all enjoy. I enjoyed making it, but it was a lot of hard work!

VO very ordinary subtitles would have been better, continuaity issues in editing. Long would made the VO feel even worse.

Good movie, but a little long. Maybe it could have been cut down from 14 minutes to something a little shorter?

Wish my first movie had been as well done. My final rate is a 3.5 and gave ya the extra .5 due to it being a first attempt. I look forward in seeing where you go from here. This was one of the few 10+ minutes that held my attention most of the way.

I liked the voiceovers, in fact this is without a doubt the best "first try" movie i have ever seen so far. I wouldn't worry about the no studio low raters with fake excuses, garantee you they didn't even watch it.

I didn't think I'd be able to sit through a fourteen minute movie, but that was pretty good. I agree about the VO's being better than subtitles. If it was subtitled I didn't think I'd have been able to sit through it all.

Very solid first effort - decent pacing, and a nice addition to the Re-Animator mythos (Herbie West, the Early Years) - editing might have been a little tighter, but sometimes you go with what you've shot. The only thing that did irritate me was that the characters said each others name every second or third line of dialogue - the voices were distinct enough that I didn't have trouble telling who was speaking, so the "Herb...Randy....Herb...Randy" routine got a little old. Still, that's little enough to complain about. Good job.

Great going! Longest story that kept me interested so far! Nice character buildup and pacing, nice work!

Many continuity issues throughout. Started ok but dragged on for such a long time I switched off. Not recommended by me.

The voice overs sounded forced alot of the time, If you would have used subtitles instead of shoddy VO this would have got 3 stars. The story also lacked originality, and has been done before. 1/5 stars from me rounded to 2

Great job. Good story - I've always been a big Lovecraft fan. My one comment would be that maybe a couple of the scenes got re-used a little too much - like the knifing the zombie - or pulling the book out of the armpit. All in all - well worth watching.

Great job. Another of the rare films with a beginning, a plot and an ending that's enjoyable to watch. The ending was a little weak though. The voice acting was good (very cool chanting effects), but some of the VO didn't match the visuals. It gets 4.5 stars from me, so I'll round it up to 5. :)

Good effort. The story was well done, the 'shots' were good, and it was well paced. Ironically, it is the voice work that detracted from it. People talking while they were also laughing, or chanting, and the voices just didn't sound convincing to me. With better voice acting and editing, or subtitles, this would have been a five star film.

Alright, you got me to review it :) The movie had a nice flow to it, good editing. It was just a little hard to tell the voices from each other (I won't advocate subtitles in this place), but the variance and humor make up for it. All in all this movie is very worthwhile watching.
